Apparently, The Weasleys had fought a war against Grimmauld Place. If the bottles of Doxycide were any indication.
He assumed this place put up a valiant effort.
Dark Art had been used here. He could feel the darkness within this decrepit dwelling. The place could give him plenty of opportunity to practice.
He had commanded two dementors. What else could he do with such an ability except master it?
The last six hours passed in pleasant haze.
Home. It was such a strange concept to associate any place but Hogwarts.
Could this be home?
Sirius told him that he could have any room he wanted. So of course, He choose the room closest to Sirius’s own.
He wished he could just share a room with Ron. Considering, that was firmly no longer an option. Ron was his best mate but Harry talked in his sleep and he wasn’t willing to memory charm Ron every time it happened.
Sorry mate! I’m a murderer but that now that you know. You know too much. Harry snorted darkly.
And he wasn’t going to kill his best mate.
So here Harry was. It had taken a precisely aimed Diffindo to sever the name of the last occupant from the sign.
Of Regulus Arcturus Black. The room needed serious redecoration it was obvious that a Slytherin once dwelled here. Green and Silver was everywhere.
The Black Family crest proudly over the bed.
Harry tore down all the newspaper clippings and shoved the mess along with the name in the closest. His bedsheets were freshly laundered and more importantly. The welcome Gryffindor colors comforted him.
He took a moment to write a quick letter.
Hedwig was restless and he wanted to send a letter to someone he normally wouldn’t have.
Miss me?
Placed it in an envelope.
“Hedwig” Harry called his familiar. She landed on his shoulder and he preened her with his fingers affectionately.
“Deliver this to Markus Scarr” He opened the window and watched Hedwig fly majestically.
He heard shouting outside his room.
“GO TO YOUR DEN KREACHER!” Sirius roared.
He opened his door to see a muttering, wrinkly house elf
“Filthy Blood Traitor! My poor mistress-“ The elf shuffled past him and those beady eyes looked up at him and widened.
Kreacher scurried off hurriedly without another word.
Sirius looked at Harry apologetic.
“Sorry, But Kreacher has been muttering all day.” Sirius grimaced.
Harry held his arms. It had reminded him too much of Vernon.
“Would you yell at me like that Sirius?” Harry asked shaken. He knew he couldn’t last long against something like that.
Was this home.
This uncertain idea a lie? As poison in his pumpkin juice the thought curdled in his stomach like sour milk.
“No, Harry never.”
“I don’t think I can live here if you do that again.” Harry forlornly said. Had it been just simple lie? All that waiting for something that didn’t exist outside of Hogwarts?
“Vernon, Yelled at me like that all the time Sirius.” Tears welled up in Harry’s vision. He couldn’t see through the veil of tears.
He felt cold.
“Harry, he’s been in my family for generations-“
“You’d mistreat your own family!?” Harry cried and he stumbled back he saw a blurry black figure reach out towards him. It could’ve been a dementor for all he knew.
“DON’T TOUCH ME!” Harry roared there was a loud bang and a thud as the door slammed shut so heavily the entire wall shook.
Harry slid bonelessly slid down the door and just let the tears run freely.
He was going to be mistreated.
He was going to be abused.
Fear and misery jumbled together in his mind swirled.
A fitful sleep claimed him.
Harry came to beneath comforting sheets. Harry sat up in a panic before he looked down and saw himself still fully clothed.
It was comforting somehow. He looked around and found his glasses and his wand. There was angry mutterings beyond his room’s door.
Harry softly got out of his bed.
“-He has accomplished miraculous things Sirius but he’d still just a child.”
That would be Molly and her voice was comforting.
“I have to agree with Molly in this instance Sirius, He’s had to do things no child should have to do. Surviving multiple attempts on his life and forced to confront inhuman evil. Harry needs us, Dumbledore-“
His door swung wide open on its own. He beamed immediately.
“Remus!” It was his favorite defense against the dark arts teacher. Remus Lupin took an easy step towards him and Harry went for a hug.
Lupin returned it gladly.
“Chocolate?” He offered as he walked into Harry’s room and he easily closed the door behind himself.
Harry took the offered chocolate and hungrily took a bite. It should be close to breakfast.
Remus sat on his bed and waited for him to finish.
“Would you mind if I decided to stay here with you and Sirius?” Remus asked.
Harry shook his head thrilled.
“Of course not!” He happily exclaimed.
“I’ll stay then.” Remus seemed relieved.
“Remus, I have to apologize. Peter Pettigrew, I watched him die” Harry apologized.
It was entirely true. Harry did in fact watch that wretched rat die.
He was however, not going to mention to Remus that it was him not Cedric who did the deed. He avada kedavra’d that rat faced bastard in the back like the traitor he was.
If Harry had one regret.
It was he had given the unworthy rat an easy death. When it should have been a painful extended one.
Remus choked for a moment.
“You should not have had to see that.” Remus said shaken.
“Hard not to when his hands were wrapped around my neck and determined to choke me to death.” Harry bade quite serious.
“He was your friend and now he’s dead.” Harry hugged Remus and cried. There was a silence for a moment.
“Harry, People can change and not always for the best. The man I knew would never betray his friends.” Remus just held him.
“I’m sorry.” Harry whispered. Harry wished he could be sorry for putting that rat down. A nasty rabid thing.
Harry’s stomach growled. Harry reluctantly let go.
Remus looked at him.
“Do you want to talk about last night?”
Harry felt ashamed at losing control.
“Sirius was yelling at Kreacher and it was just like Vernon shouting at me for things I couldn’t control.”
Remus nodded.
“I see.”
“Harry-“ Remus began.
“I do not condone the abuse of house elves. They do not have an easy life by any means. Kreacher is an exceptionally long-lived house elf in the service of the house of Black. Sirius and Kreacher have never gotten along and while Kreacher must obey Sirius. He is known to twist the wording of those orders just to spite Sirius. And Sirius for his part has been an arse to his family’s house elf.”
Remus sighed.
“Sirius would like nothing more than to get rid of him but he knows too much about the order’s business. If Sirius hands him clothes, then nothing prevents him from going a known death eater. Even if she’s in Azkaban.”
Harry saw the problem.
“Then Sirius can give Kreacher to me.” Harry stated. Kreacher deserved better than being stuck at this place. Hermione’s SPEW had merit after all.
“And I’ll send him to Hogwarts. Away from this place.”
Remus looked thoughtful
“That could work.”
Then he looked at Harry with a smile.
“Ready for breakfast?” Harry smiled and nodded. Harry felt better than he had. Remus got up and his adult stride made him pass Harry quickly.
“Come on, Harry!”
Molly had made a frankly wonderous breakfast. Harry felt full to bursting as he got up with his plate and his cup, utsenils. Remus, left after thanking Molly for the meal.
Molly attempted to shoo him off. “Your friends are surely waiting for you.”
“I insist, Molly. Please.” As he placed them in the sink. She looked at him perplexed. She shrugged and just let Harry stay in the kitchen as Harry started doing his dishes.
“Harry” Molly stated lightly as she waved her wand and his dishes started doing themselves.
“Leave the kitchen to me.” Harry conceded and he turned to leave before he turned back to Molly who was in the midst of kitchen chores.
“I’m sorry about what happened to your brothers.” Harry stated.
She froze.
“They were great brothers.” She said wistful as she turned. Her visage turned matronly at once when she saw Harry’s questioning face.
“Do you need something?” She asked motheringly.
“You have a lot of sons so I’ve been meaning to ask-“Harry rambled before he stopped.
“I probably should ask Arthur.” Harry flushed. He hesitatingly shook his hand. Harry covered his face in embarrassment.
“I need some privacy.” Harry stated in an embarrassed whisper. He backed up
“I’ll ask Arthur. I’m sorry. I’m sorry!” She looked at him shrewdly.
“Harry, You’re practically family! I think I can handle you becoming an adult.” She chided.
Don’t mind me Molly, I’ll just walk back to my room and set myself on fire.” Harry could feel his cheeks burning.
“Any locking spell will work harry.” Oh my god. No! Harry wailed mentally.
He genuinely hid his face. He shouldn’t have asked Molly.
What had he been thinking??!
“Or use the Imperturbable charm.”
“And the incantation for that charm is?” Harry asked.
The incantation is Impertubare. Harry pay attention to how my wand-“
Harry slinked to his room in abject embarrassment. He probably should have asked Sirius, Remus, Arthur or even the twins. He was grateful that his friends were not around at the moment. Or he really would have died of embarrassment. Thankful, that they were at the burrow.
He had suffered an abjectly embarrassing impromptu lesson. He had earned that spell.
“Colloportus!” There was an odd squelching sound as his door sealed itself.
“Impertubare!”
He could only hope it worked until he flung his pillow at the door and it bounced off. Molly had told him how to check. The charm was a sign for privacy. Apparently.
There was a tapping on his window. Hedwig had returned and he easily opened the window and she flew in.
With a letter attached. The first thing he did was nuzzle his familiar. His wonderful snow owl.
Markus Scarr’s handwriting was messy but barely legible.
I can’t stop thinking about you and your-
Harry blushed for the contents of the letter were quite private. Harry was glad he had made a lasting impression on his servant.
Harry looked at Hedwig as he opened the window.
“Can you give me a moment?” He asked. He could tell Hedwig was judging him as she narrowed her eyes before she flew out the window.
He looked through his potion equipment and found another vial. Before he unbuttoned his trousers and let his ever-eager member free from its confines.
He sat back comfortably on his bed and took his time to truly enjoy his letter. He deserved a reward like a sudden visit.
