The endless shouting and yelling was about to drive Narcissa completely over the edge. She’d been resting peacefully when Draco burst into the infirmary, eyes glazed over raging about Ginny, which resulted in a crowd around her bed. (She couldn’t for the life of her imagine why they’d found it necessary to gather by her) Dumbledore, Severus, Minerva, Bill and Michelle Weasley (a very nice couple, and the wife was positively glowing from her pregnancy), and another young woman with black hair and grass green eyes had just recently joined them. Olivia. If she remembered correctly.
“Where did she go? She must have told someone!” Draco roared, swinging about like a rampaging dragon and pinned his gaze on Olivia. The young woman paled as her son’s eyes narrowed.
“She told you where didn’t she?” The deceptive silkiness of his voice didn’t fool Olivia.
“No.” He hit her with a frosty glare that had Severus and Dumbledore edging closer just in case he snapped. “We talked and she mentioned going somewhere she could think about everything. She never told me where.” Olivia finished a bit nervously.
“Look Malfoy, let my sister alone. If she wants time to herself, then give it to her…” Bill butted in, ignoring his wife’s sharp elbow, a rather intense frown pointed at Draco.
“I didn’t ask your advice Weasley. This is between me and Virginia.”
“I don’t want you to hurt her!”
“Neither do I, which is why I need to bring her back!” Bill blinked at Draco’s snarl. “You’d think you’d know something about veelas since you’re married to one! The longer this gets put off, the worse I’m going to get and when she does something stupid like running, it bends my control to the breaking point.” Draco took a deep breath gathering steam but broke off before speaking.
A glazed curtain dropped over his eyes, which rolled back in his head for a moment. His nostrils flared and he shook slightly.
Her scent was calling to him. The soft lilting singing he’d heard the first time was back. Pictures flashed through his mind. Green hills…..
His lids sprang open and he practically vanished out of the room with only a swirl of black.
The crowd stared after him in various states of confusion. Olivia cocked her head.
“Somehow, I don’t think that’s a good sign.” The others seemed to think it an understatement.

Ginny stared out over the stormy, choppy oc Th The sky was grey with rolling clouds. The cliff she sat dropped sheer all the way to the water below, jagged points jutting out like needles. It felt elemental as if she were part of the wind. The grass was green and thick beneath her and the landscape was spattered with heather. She’d never been to Scotland before. The freshness in the air was helping to clear her head. Ginny didn’t feel as closed in or trapped.
At first she’d been thinking Italy or even America. Somewhere very far away, but then Ginny had decided that’s what he would think and decided on Scotland. It had always seemed a mystical type of place and she didn’t want to be around people. Ginny had picked up some food at a little village and then made her way out here.
Pulling a loaf of bread out of her pack, she proceeded to make a sandwich with an apple on the side. It was time to go over everythingicagically and make some decisions.
Number One. Draco was a veela. There was no way to change that.
Number Two. She was his mate. Yet another thing she couldn’t change.
Henceforth if he did not eventually (pretty soon really) mate with her, Draco would sooner or later go insane.
Number Three. She could not let that happen to him. As much as she disliked the idea of being his mate and as much as she disliked him as a person, Ginny would never be able to live with letting him die.
Number Four. For all accounts and purposes, Draco had been a Deatheater, yet Dumbledore, Snape, and even Minerva had defended him.
Therefore, he had either changed, or he never really was. Both interesting concepts. She basically had no choice. And Ginny had to admit that kisses with him were far and away more amazing than Bradley’s.
Ginny sighed, dropping her face to her knees. She’d wait a few more days, get more used to the idea of “mating” with Draco Malfoy, and then go back. She leaned back and took a deep breath of the now misty air. For now, she was going to enjoy Scotland.

Draco could smell her. The clean, fruity, woman scent floated to his nostrils on the breeze. His blood was roaring and clamoring for her, pushing him forward. He stalked her movements for a couple miles through the Scottish hills.
He was getting closer, almost upon her. A cliff was looming ahead and he could make out a small figure close to the edge.
Too close to the edge.
Dear God, what was she thinking? She could fall!
Draco flew toward her, a barely constrained growl trying to fight it’s way out of his lungs. She heard him coming and turned, but he already had his wand out and pointed at her.
“Petrificus Totalus!” He practically roared it as Virginia collapsed to the ground, straight as a board. Draco yanked her away from the edge, running her hands over her body to make sure she was unhurt. He then aimed his wand again, white ropes snaking out to bind her body and manuevered Virginia to a standing position, her still rigid body leaning against his.
“You cannot run from me you silly bint! How many times do I have to pound that into your thick skull?” Draco bellowed at her for a good ten minutes before preparing to Apparate, when a horrifying thought popped into his head.
What if she had been thinking about jumping? Surely not, but she had been so close to edge, and Virginia had shown she possessed a flighty, tempermental nature. Anything seemed possible with her. Damn. He would not be letting her out os sis sight until they completed the mating ritual. In fact, maybe he would just keep her tied up until she came to her senses.
They apparated with a loud POP.

“What are you doing down here?” The words were low and snarled. Narcissa stiffened, grabbing a hold of the bookshelf to steady her suddenly wobbly legs. She didn’t want to turn around to the hate-filled eyes she knew would be staring back at her.
It had been so boring in the hospital wing that when Narcissa had gotten a burst of energy, she had ventured out. Not even thinking about where she was going, she eventually found herself in the Potions classroom. She was a bit surprised, but not really. The memories were powerful.
“I thought I made the rules clear.” He was standing in the shadows when she turned.
“What?” She hated that her voice was so breathless. It made her sound like a child.
“You are to come nowhere near me.” His tone was cruel as he stepped into the dim light.
“dn’tdn’t come here to see you.” She heard herself say. Severus scoffed rudely in disbelief.
“I just found myself here. It was the last place we…” Narcissa trailed off as his face contorted nastily. She hadn’t meant to say that, but she couldn’t let him think she had never cared for him. Narcissa regretted her impulsive tongue when he snarled.
“Really. I hadn’t remebered.” Oh Merlin. If he’d wanted to kill her, that was all it would take. If she hadn’t known better, she’d think that he had plunged a daggar into her heart. It was a physical pain. Her body was crying out as if she were a dying man catching sight of a mirage. There and yet not.
“Of course not.” Her words were faint as she turned to leave, but they seemed to enrage him and Severus grabbed her arm painfully and swung her back against the bookcase with the speed of a striking snake. His face was twisted with rage as he thrust against her.
“Is this what you want you little slut? If I catch you down here again, I’ll have you on your back before you know what hit you, with yoegs egs above your head.” His teeth were grinding together; the words seemed torn from his throat. “I’ve been celibate for a good while and I have no compunction treating you like the whore you are.”
“You bastard!” Narcissa finally found her voice, her own temper finally rising to the fore from his taunting. “I’m not the one who whores! How many women have you been with, you cruel, thoughtless snake!”
“You’re the one who came to me and kept Lucius on the side!”
“I never kept Lucius on the side! I was betrothed to him and you were a Deatheater!” She startled him so much with those words, that he dropped her wrists and staggered backwards. Narcissa took the advantage and ed fed for the door.
“And it didn’t matter that Lucius was a Deatheater too, you little hypocrite?”
Narcissa hesitated at the door and finally glanced back at his sneering face.
“I didn’t love Lucius.”
“You left me because you loved me. Try again.”
“I couldn’t watch the man I loved destroy himself.” Her heart felt like it was being ripped out.
“So you married Lucius? Maybe it wouldn’t have happened if you had stayed.”
“The only one whuld uld save you from that was yourself.” The click of the door was the only sound in the still room.

“How dare you run from me? Huh? How many times do I have to explain this to you?” Draco yelled as he paced the floor.
He was so intent on the still rigid form of Ginny, that he didn’t notice the door behind him fly open.
“Draco Malfoy!” Narcissa reprimanded. “What did you do to the poor girl?” She waved her wand at the young woman on the floor of the abandoned classroom. “Finite Incantatem.”
Immediately Ginny flew at Draco, knocking him to the ground. “You little prick! What is your problem?”
“You’re my problem, you little piece of baggage!” He rolled her underneath him, trying to pin her flailing hands and growled when she knocked him upside the head. “Everytime you do this, it gets harder for me to control! Get that through your thick skull!”
Ginny thrust her knee up, barely missing his groin, but a knee to the stomach wasn’t anything to sniff at either. Draco grunted and loosened his grip enough for her to throw him off and stumble to her feet.
“You arrogant numbskull!”
Draco surged up and pinned her to the wall, his grey eyes sparking. His breath was coming hard and fast as he glared at her.
“Let’s get something straight. Don’t ever run from me again.”
“I wasn’t running!”
“Like hell you weren’t running!”
Ginny snarled and they tumbled to the floor again, a tangle of arms and legs.
“CEASE YOUR INFERNAL RACKET!”
They both looked up to see Snape pinning them with an evil glare, looking like a specter of death. He grabbed Draco and Narcissa got hold ofny’sny’s arm and dragged them to opposite sides of the room. Severus waved his wand, murmuring an complex incantation and a filmy looking barrier appeared and divided the room.
“Now you two are going to work this out if I have to keep you in here all night! I’ve had enough of your theatrics.” Snape bit out.
“But he’s…”
“She’s being completely unreasonable!”
“Oh, and I’m supposed to listen to the bloody idiot that calls me a whore?” Ginny shouted angrily.
Draco opened his mouth, but his mother beat him to it.
“Draco Marcus Malfoy!” Narcissa looked shocked. “I taught you better than that! wondwonder she won’t listen to you.” She patted Ginny’s arm soothingly. “You’re completely within your rights to be reticent dear.” Draco’s mother shot a venomous look at the Potions Master, then speared her son with a glare. “No gentleman would call a woman a whore. It shows an appalling lack of taste and respect. It’s just their stupidity showing.”
Draco looked ready to strangle Narcissa. “Mother!” It sounded like his words were being shoved through clenched teeth. “You’re not helping!”
Severus stormed through the barrier and hauled Narcissa towards the door, a rather murderous glint in his eyes. Draco tried to follow, but instead of passing through the filmy curtain, he found himself flying backward, landing of the flwithwith a loud THUD.
“What in the bloody hell!” Draco spat as he struggled to his feet.
“Neither you nor Miss Weasley can cross the barrier until you’ve come to an agreement.” Snape paused. “Oh, and one more thing.”
Draco and Ginny gaped as their wands flew from their hands into Snape’s fist and the older couple vanished through the door.
“Damn!”
“Blast it!”
