‘Hmm,’ Lucius thought, ‘If I could just get to Snape Manor, someway, and convince Severus it’s me he wants to be with, then somehow take Draco…’ He paused in his thinking, ‘No, no, no. Too soon to get Draco. Right now I have to concentrate on getting Severus back in my bed,’ he shuddered at the thought. Lucius had once been madly in lust with the younger Slytherin but those days had passed. It wasn’t that he no longer found the man attractive, he did, it was that he no longer wanted him now that he’d been sullied by the Boy-Who-Lived.
So he set out to plan getting to Snape Manor and seducing Snape. It wouldn’t be easy, but he’d done it before, more than once, so he had no worries that he would be able to do it again. Now, if he could just start the plan to get Draco away…
Severus, Harry and Draco were just about to throw floo powder into the fireplace in Severus’ office to go to Snape Manor when Albus’ head popped into view.
“My dear boys, where are you going?” He asked with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
Snape wasn’t falling for it, “Oh no, you barmy old codger, I already told you we’re not telling you where we’re going. You can just stop right now.”
Draco shook his head in disbelief and Harry snickered; both knew the Headmaster wasn’t going to give up so easily.
“Now Severus, I just want to know for your own protection,” he said nicely.
“Do you think my fath- Lucius will try anything, Headmaster?” Draco asked suspiciously.
Harry eyed the man’s head floating in the fireplace, “Er, no, Draco,” Albus said uneasily, “I’m pretty sure he won’t try anything.”
Either Albus had an idea of what was going on or he was completely clueless and over confident. We’ll never know, now will we?
Severus rolled his eyes, “Oh, for the love of- Albus, get out of the bloody way so we can leave!”
Harry snickered again as Dumbledore huffed, “No need to get tetchy, Severus. I’m going. Have a good vacation, boys.”
The older Slytherin snorted as the Headmaster’s head popped out of existence then shook his head muttering under his breath about ‘meddling old fools’, ‘barmy old codgers’ and ‘scheming coots of a Headmaster’.
The younger men laugh and all grabbed a pinch of floo powder, following Severus after he went through. When they got there, Harry’s eyes went wide; he had never seen anything so magnificent. Of course, Draco had already been here many times because before Severus had become their lover, when Draco was a young boy and loved him as merely an uncle, he had frequented Snape Manor with his father.
“Bloody hell, this is brilliant!” Harry exclaimed.
“Yes, quite,” Severus said quietly.
He wasn’t too fond of his family home, but it was the only place the three of them could have gone for the Christmas hols without having to worry about Albus popping in unannounced. The house-elves had clearly outdone themselves this year, seeing as there would actually be people here for the holiday.
Green garlands hung from every possible surface; the mantle of the fireplace, the windows, the doorframes, a giant tree took up one whole third of the nicely sized sitting room to the right of the entrance hall, decked out in silver, green, red and gold ornaments, ribbons and bows with stacks of presents beneath it. There was a sprig of mistletoe hanging in almost every doorway and Severus almost cringed upon seeing them; this would turn out to be an interesting visit to Snape Manor. It had never before looked like this, even when he had lived there with his parents.
Draco was impressed with the decorations and was happy that both Gryffindor and Slytherin colors were incorporated in them, though that wasn’t hard seeing as the two houses had very Christmassy colors. Harry could do nothing but stand there and stare at everything around him because, other than Christmas at Hogwarts, he had never seen anything so magnificent before. Severus was getting a little antsy.
“Shall we go find the master bedchambers and unpack?” He said nervously. Neither of them knew of his doubts, but, then again, they were almost too caught up in each other to notice his fears. They were convinced he knew how they felt and was content in knowing they loved him. They could not be more wrong and it was this tiny little fact that would bring about the end of what the three of them had.
Harry and Draco nodded and followed their older lover up the grand staircase to a set of double doors. He threw them open and this time even Draco gasped. Instead of greens and silvers like they expected, the room was done in a cobalt blue with cream highlights. The rug was a deep cream color with blue trim while the bed, which was a large, ebony four poster, had the same color blue velvet drapes with cream filigree designs around the trim that hung at the large bay window. There was a bench, whose lid lifted up to store blankets and whatnot, in the bay of the window with a blue cushion with cream trim. The coverings on the bed were cobalt as well with the same cream filigree as the curtains and one could assume that the sheets were cream-colored satin. At the foot of the bed there sat a dark, ebony bench with a cream cushion and blue trim. On the wall across from the bay window, there was a wardrobe of the same ebony wood as the bench, which opened to reveal four drawers and space to hang robes. On the wall across from the foot of the bed stood a large fireplace with a cream-colored sofa, which looked very comfortable, in front of it and a low ebony table for setting drinks or books stood between the sofa and the fire.
Severus was very proud of how he had redecorated after his parents had passed, after all this had been their room as the master suite, and the look on his face was quite smug. No one would ever guess that the dour man had such a flair for decorating.
“Merlin, Severus, this is amazing!” Harry said in awe.
“I quite agree, love,” Draco said. “You’ve done well with the colors and the choice of wood,” he commented as he ran his hand over one of the posts of the large bed.
“Thank you both. Now, shall we unpack and freshen up for dinner? I believe the house elves have made a most wonderful honey glazed ham with mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, corn and fresh backed bread.”
Harry’s mouth was already watering as Draco moved to take their shrunken trunks out of his pocket and begin unpacking. The Gryffindor stood there and watched as his blonde lover unpacked their clothes and things then turned to Severus.
“What are we having for Christmas dinner?” He asked curiously.
Severus paused, “Roast duck, stuffed with a walnut dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, fresh baked rolls, corn, turnips, parsnips, seasoned lightly with salt and pepper, and for dessert a wonderful chocolate truffle soufflé.”
Harry’s nose wrinkled, “No turkey?” He said in disappointment.
The older man laughed, “We’re having turkey Christmas Eve night. I figured Draco might like a traditional family dinner like he used to have when his moth-“ Snape stopped himself feeling a little guilty for assuming what Draco would like and almost mentioning his mother.
Draco turned from what he was doing with a soft smile, “That sounds wonderful, Severus. I thank you for thinking of what would make me comfortable. This is, after all, my first Christmas without either of them and it would be nice to have a dinner like the ones we always used to have before everything happened. It doesn’t upset me as much anymore, what happened. Lucius was never this harsh to me when I was young, but then again, I always did what he thought I should. And my mother,” he sighed, “She was a wonderful woman but she couldn’t take all of his shit anymore. I’m glad she doesn’t have to deal with it anymore; she’s better off dead, in my opinion.”
Severus nodded curtly as Harry smiled at Draco, thankful that he was getting back to his old self, though not as bratty. He couldn’t be happier that he had Draco. Nothing in the world would be better. The green-eyed Gryffindor stopped in the middle of his thought and furrowed his brow, wondering why he hadn’t included Severus into his happiness. He waved it off as a brain fart and moved on, helping Draco unpack until everything had been put away.
The three moved into the large dining room that held an overly large cherry wood table and twelve chairs, five on each side and one at each end, covered in a silver tablecloth and piled high with food. They each took seats at one end of the table with Severus sitting at the head, Draco, and Harry on each of his sides. Throughout the whole meal, the two younger men eyed each other, as Severus got lost in his thoughts. His doubtful thoughts. But if he had merely sat back to think it over logically, he would have noticed that even though they looked at each other as if there were no one else in the world for them, when he wasn’t paying attention they were also looking at him the same way. Somehow, a seed of doubt had been planted in his head and it was eating away at him.
After dinner the three went up to their room with snifters of brandy and sat together on the large sofa before the fire, talking quietly and snuggling for a few hours before climbing into bed and getting into their usual sleeping position. Severus was in the middle with Harry on one side and Draco on the other, both laying their heads on his shoulders as he wrapped them in his arms and they held hands on his chest as they snuggled close.
As they lay sleeping Lucius smirked and plotted more, drinking entirely too much brandy and getting almost delirious. His new plan would be implemented soon. He knew for a fact that Severus had taken the boys to his manor and the blonde was merely waiting for the right chance to swoop in and mix up some trouble. He would wait until after Christmas day, let them have their happiness for another week; they would never know what hit them…
