When Ginny had met Snape down at
the entrance of the castle as he requested, her trunks had been shrunken in her
pockets and her new robes fell over her body, gracing her new curves.
Snape looked her over; secretly admiring
the natural glow she had about her. She really was a woman who was beautiful
when pregnant.
Though Snape understood why she
glowed so brightly that morning. He got a notification of Ginny whenever she
went to Malfoy Manor to make sure that the injuries he gave her weren’t too
extensive that she couldn’t make it to her port key.
Last night he hadn’t trained her
but she sure as hell went to Malfoy Manor. The whole night Snape shook with
jealously, thinking about Lucius having the pleasure to fuck the girl lovingly
while he was forced to rape and abuse her—it just wasn’t fair.
“Come,” Snape said coldly, turning
and leaving Ginny to follow behind him. He didn’t want to think about Ginny and
Lucius anymore.
Ginny practically ran to catch up
with him. She was sure the only reason she could reach him most of the time was
because he didn’t want her overstraining herself.
Students were bustling all around
them, leaving for their own holidays. Everyone had thrown questioning glances
at Snape and Ginny but she followed Snape’s lead and ignored them. Snape
managed to snag a private carriage and practically threw Ginny into the
contraption.
“Why couldn’t we just take the floo
Professor?” Ginny asked as she settled into her seat.
“To give us the upper hand—my
family is expecting us at two. We won’t get there until four. It’ll make them
sweat a little while we enjoy a quiet ride there,”
Ginny’s stomach suddenly filled
with butterflies. She didn’t like how crafty Snape had to be with his own
family. She could only imagine what being in his home would be like. She wished
she could go home to the warmth her family gave her but knew it would be
impossible—at least for that year.
The rest of the ride to Snape’s
family home was tense and silent. She ignored the cold glances he gave
her. Ginny eventually fell asleep after
twenty minutes of the carriages gentle sways.
She had been woken up with a tight grip on her
arm (that bruised later) and realized that she arrived at the Snape mansion.
Her jaw dropped. His house was almost as big as Malfoy’s (possibly bigger).
She had been in a daze as Snape
stiffly led her up the small, concrete stairs.
‘This
place isn’t very pregnant woman or child safe’ Ginny thought, watching as
the house door was opened by a large, sad looking house elf.
“Welcome to Snape Manor Master
Snape and Mistress Snape,” the elf said respectfully.
Ginny’s eyes nearly popped out of her
head when she was addressed as Mistress. Then she remembered that she really
was technically married to Snape.
Snape ignored the creature and
dropped his cloak on its head as if to dismiss it. Ginny’s heart strings pulled
as the young elf pulled the cloak off is head. Ginny gave him a large smile and
handed him her cloak respectfully.
The elf gave her a tentative smile
and grabbed the cloak from her fingers.
“Merlin you’re acting like Granger!
Contain yourself. If you show my family any compassion they’ll think its
weakness. They’ll chew you up and spit you out. Now, fix your posture and
control yourself,” Snape whispered as they walked down a long, brightly lit
hallway.
Ginny felt as if a block of ice
dropped into her stomach. She managed to do as he told her to do despite
wanting to bash his head in.
Snape stopped in front of a large oak door. He
looked down at Ginny to make sure she was prepared before opening the door in
his signature dramatic flair.
Ginny didn’t get a chance to study
the room because she paled at the sight of his family staring at her.
A tall, dark man, who bore a
striking resemblance to Snape, stood by the drinking cabinet in the room with a
beautiful blonde woman standing next to him. The man looked Ginny’s form up and
down; staring at her so intently she shivered. He may have been handsome but he
was a creep.
Another man, with salt and pepper
hair and bright green eyes sat in a wing back chair near the fire and an old
woman with grey hair sat on the couch closet to the fireplace, staring at Ginny
with dark piercing eyes that were so familiar to her.
Another woman with raven hair stood
by the window. She glanced at Ginny and narrowed her eyes.
It took all the control Ginny had
in her system resist rolling her eyes. She must have been Sebastian Snape’s
mistress. Ginny may have liked men but she knew better than to go after family
members.
“You are late Severus,” she
snapped.
“I apologize mother but we decided
at the last minute to take the carriage rather than floo,” Snape said as if he
weren’t being stabbed with half a dozen eyes on him.
“Next time you will inform me if
there is any change in your arrival,”
“Of course mother I will. And may I
present Miss Ginevra Weasley-Snape,” he said formally performing a small bow
next to her.
Ginny straightened her spine even
more even though it was as straight as it could be in.
She heard Snape give a soft snort
before pulling himself up to full height once again.
The air in the room went from tense
to awkward. Everyone stared at her and she stared back.
Finally, the Snape look alike cleared his
throat and made his way across the room.
“It is so nice to finally meet you
Ginevra. My name is Sebastian Snape, Severus’ older brother and heir to the Snape
fortune. Severus has told us … many things about you,” he said, giving a
charming smile showing his dimple.
He leaned down and kissed Ginny’s
hand. Ginny found the touch of his lips repulsive.
She prayed to god she wouldn’t have
to talk to him any longer than was needed while she spent her break at the
Manor.
Sebastian lifted himself from his
bow, and with his cocky smile still in place, swept his hand across the room.
“Standing by the brandy glasses is
our beautiful Aunt Amy,” he said pointing to the beautiful blonde who wore a
blank expression on her face. She glanced at Ginny’s from before dismissing her
with a flick of her eyes.
“Charmed,” she purred icily before taking a
rather large sip of brandy from her glass.
“And sitting in the chair by the
fire is our distinguished Uncle Christopher. Usually everyone calls him Uncle
Chris,” Sebastian said pointing to the striking man in the wing back chair.
Christopher looked down his long,
croaked nose at Ginny and turned his head away with the trademark Snape sniff.
“You may call me Mr. Snape,” he
said politely with acid dripping from every word.
Ginny nearly let her blank mask
slip in disbelief. Were these people serious? They were worse than the Malfoy’s
before they became nice to her and joined the Order (and that was saying
something considering the blood feud between both families).
“Over by the window is my lovely
friend Marissa. She decided to come with me to Snape Manor to celebrate the
holidays with the Snape family,”
Marissa gave a very wide and
glacial smile.
“And last but certainly not least,
sitting by Uncle Chris is my and Severus’ mother, Lady of Snape Manor, Arista
Snape,”
The older woman had never taken her
eyes off of Ginny in the first place and didn’t seem to notice that she had
been formally introduced. She stared at Ginny, as if trying to size her up.
Ginny stuck her chin out in
defiance. It didn’t matter whether or not she passed the test. She was bound to
Snape and having the babies and if the old hag didn’t like it, she could stick
it up her ass in Ginny’s opinion.
The older woman seemed satisfied
for the time being and politely nodded her head to Ginny in acknowledgement
before turning to take a sip of her tea once more.
“It’s nice to finally … meet all of
you,” Ginny said politely, trying to ignore the tense silence.
“I believe Miss Weasley is tired
after a long journey from Hogwarts. I suggest we let her take a short nap
before the dinner tonight,” Snape said, expertly extracting Ginny’s hand from Sebastian’s
sweaty ones.
“Of course Severus—we’ll talk more
during dinner,” Arista Snape finally said without looking up from her china.
“Yes mother,” Snape murmured,
giving one last bow before taking Ginny’s elbow and leading her out o the room.
Ginny could feel Sebastian’s eyes
gazing intently into her back. She had to suppress another shiver. When they
finally made it far enough away from the drawing room, Ginny let out a hefty
sight.
“I don’t know if I’ll be able to
handle this,” Ginny said quietly, more to herself than Snape.
“My mother approves of you. That’s
all that matter,” Snape said neutrally.
After knowing Snape for so long,
Ginny realized that his statement was meant to be a compliment. Ginny allowed
herself to smile at the thought. Snape giving a compliment was as rare as a
horntail dragon in London.
Yet, even that rare bit of nice
Snape was smashed when she remembered that she had to be surrounded by his icy
family for two weeks.
She sighed. It was going to be a long break.
---
Bill rubbed his temples while
staring down at the parchment covered in red ink, completely over ruling the
original black ink
.
That night just wasn’t his night to
mark papers. He threw his quill down and stood, running a hardened hand over
his face. He wished he could get one of Snape’s amazing headache cures but the
Potion Master wasn’t in the castle.
Bill had decided to stay at the school for the
holiday break. He didn’t think he was in the mood for living at home that year.
Bill couldn’t help but feel bad for
his sister. She had to spend an entire two weeks with Snape’s family and get
initiated into you-know-who’s group.
Giving up on grading, Bill left the
classroom and made his way toward the Room of Requirement, planning to use it
as an Olympic pool where he could swim away his stress.
He was about to start pacing back
and forth to put in his request but stopped when he heard a piano from behind
the wall. Bill became curious at the sound and changed his request before
pacing and going through the new door.
A beautiful soprano voice filled his head,
making his headache go away completely.
*Who
really cares?
Who really cares?
When I talk?
What I feel?
What I say?
Nobody not really
Bill walked into the room, unable
to turn away from the notes lighting his soul with a warm luminosity. The room
was an empty playground. Bill could feel the wind caressing his skin as he
walked past a sandbox with the swing sets inside them moved back and forth
looking disturbingly empty.
Who wants to take
The time to understand
I would like someone to heal me with some empathy
But I can't find…
Nobody not really
Bill finally found the source of
the voice. There was a bright yellow piano sitting by a very tall blue slide. A
small blonde sat playing, her hands moving across the keys fluidly.
Maybe
I'm invisible to the world
Does anyone in the world even think of me?
As more than just a hopeless cause
Maybe the world is not my block
My stoop
My life
My dreams
My anything, anything
At that point Bill could hear the
tears in her voice. She sounded as if she were in so much pain. Bill couldn’t
tell who she was from looking at her back. There were a lot of blondes in
Hogwarts (a lot of them fake) and it would have been impossible to figure out
which one student it was.
Who wants to help?
Papa, but he's so tired
Mama, but you're not here
I'm alone in a big empty space with
Nobody not really
The girl began to sob harshly,
staring down into the piano key board but finishing the song nonetheless.
“Oh mum … I miss you so much. I’m
sorry for joining Dumbledore’s Army—I didn’t think they would go to our home
and try and kill us,” the girl sobbed putting her hands into her face, “Papa’s
not the same anymore. He stopped running the paper. He’s lost without you. I’m
all alone at school. The only person who even talks to me is Harry Potter and
Ginny Weasley. I have no desire to find the creatures you encouraged me to
find—the thought of it leaves me empty. I’m so alone mum and now that you’re
gone, I am lost,”
The girl began to sob harder. Bill
felt his heart clutch painfully in his chest. He felt horrible for not noticing
her before. The Order had been there for Luna Lovegood’s tragedy. Death Eaters
ambushed her family. Her mother managed to slow down the attack by fighting
allowing her and her father to get away.
When the Order showed up, her mom
was dead. Her and her father stayed at Grimmauld until things were safe again.
That had been last summer. Bill recalled that Luna was amazingly good at DADA
but there was no life in her eyes.
Because she was so small and quiet, it was
easy to forget that she existed. Luna’s sobs finally died down and all she did
was stare at the keyboard again.
Bill took a tentative step toward
her, unsure of whether it was a good idea to talk to her.
He decided that he could always
leave if she wasn’t fit for company.
Strengthening his resolve, Bill
walked forward purposely and put a hand on her shoulder.
Luna jumped and looked up at him.
“I’m sorry Professor Weasley. I
didn’t know you need the room. I’ll go now,” Luna said quietly, standing to
leave.
Bill tightened his grip on her
shoulder to stop her.
“Don’t leave,” he said quietly.
Luna looked up at him with big,
soulful blue eyes.
“Do you want to talk about it?” he
asked.
Luna shook her head no even though
more tears spilled out of her eyes.
“Are you sure?”
Luna nodded her head.
“Well, if you ever do want to talk,
I’m here for you,” Bill said gently, wanting so bad to hold her tight and make
her pain go away.
Luna nodded her head yes and ran
toward the door again. Bill didn’t stop her that time.
Instead, he watched her leave,
feeling gloomy and guilty.
---
Ginny gritted her teeth and tried
to focus on the plate in front of her. She was ready to commit murder!
“Really, not every woman is as lucky
as Lady Snape. I heard that after she had Severus, she lost all of her baby fat
in a matter of weeks,” Amy said politely. She sat on Ginny’s left.
“Yes and I heard the Prewett woman
always had a hard time losing weight after they had children,” Marissa said
from Ginny’s right.
“Especially after twins—why I’ve
heard that every generation of Prewett woman lost their womanly figures
afterwards,” Amy said with an icy grin.
“Yes, and to add the Weasley genes
on top of that, why poor Ginevra here will never be able to get her figure
back,” Marissa said with mock sympathy.
“Oh, you both are so kind,” Ginny
said sarcastically, stabbing at her steak.
“I have personally never found a
fault with a woman’s figure after she has borne her children. To me, she’s the
picture of fertile beauty,” Sebastian said charmingly from across the table.
Instead of feeling defended by the
words, Ginny felt utterly repulsed. Sebastian just came off as a greasy
character to her. For the past week and a half, Sebastian tired his best to
seduce her.
Every time Ginny was trapped in a
corner and close to being forced to kiss Sebastian,
Snape would show up and save her
from the act. She shuddered inwardly at the memories, curbing her thoughts to something
more neutral.
Snape and Ginny didn’t really talk.
They exchanged pleasantries at dinner but otherwise kept to themselves for the
most part. The only companionship she got was the few times Lucius and Draco
came to dinner yet even then they were seated far away from her.
When Ginny wasn’t locked in her
room (by choice) she had to endure hours of being in the company of the three
women who stayed in the house. They made sharp comments here and there about
her relationship with Snape (they didn’t know how she could have enjoyed a sexual encounter with him) and the
babies that she carried.
Of course, when they made comments about the
twins, they were careful not to mention it around Lady Snape whose tongue could
rival Molly Weasley’s. Lady Snape wasn’t nice to Ginny per se, but it did help
to be the woman who would carry on the Snape line.
Ginny couldn’t wait to leave the
house.
The only thing that held her back
from wishing for the end faster was her initiation. She only had three days
left before she had to face the Dark Lord.
Thankfully, Snape made excuses for
the both of them to go to the Burrow one last time on Christmas. Ginny had been
so happy that she cried when Snape announced that they had to go back to the
Manor. In fact, she wanted to cry just thinking about her situation again.
“Ginevra—are you quite all right dear?”
Sebastian asked causing the rest of the attendants at dinner stop talking to
face her.
Ginny tried not to let her actions
match the bright red hue her skin took.
“I’m fine—although I have been more
tired than usual lately,” Ginny said neutrally.
“Then you should be resting,” Lady
Snape said, her lips set in a thin line.
It was an order and Ginny learned
quickly that one does not disobey Lady Snape.
“Of course—I hope you all enjoy the
rest of your evening,” Ginny said politely standing.
She was ready to leave hell (aka
dinner) and curl into a little ball on her bed. She was so tired and wanted
peace. There were days where she just wanted it all to go away and live on a
little island where no one would ever bother her again.
“Let me walk you to your room
Ginevra,” Sebastian said starting to stand.
Ginny had to suppress the urge to
shout no. Instead, she gave a very tight smile.
“No need Sebastian. It’s my duty to
see to Ginevra,” Snape drawled from his corner of the table.
Sebastian looked as if he were
going to argue but was stopped by Lady Snape.
“Of course it is your duty Severus. I don’t expect you back,”
she said bluntly before turning to talk to Christopher again.
Ginny felt her face turn an even
deeper red.
She didn’t bother looking around before
murmuring a quiet apology once more and quickly making her way toward the door.
Snape met her and held out his arm.
Ginny took it gratefully and left the dining room without looking back.
The walk to the room was mostly
silent. Ginny couldn’t help but glance at Snape out the corner of her eye.
Being completely alone with the man with no one else around made it hard for
her to keep her helpless love for him suppressed.
They finally made it to her room.
She stopped in front of the door, looking at the door knob.
“What do you want Miss Weasley?”
Snape asked finally.
Ginny looked into Snape’s eyes. He
stared down at her in a soft expression she hadn’t seen in a long time.
Suddenly, her desire for him came back intensely. She missed him—missed making
love to him. She wanted him inside of her. It was the only time he ever let his
guard down to connect with her.
“Will you spend the night with me?”
she asked softly putting her hand on the door knob.
The soft expression on Snape’s face
was quickly replaced with a look of pure rage.
“Why? Has Lucius proven to be
inadequate fulfilling your needs?” he spat.
“This had nothing to do with Lucius.
I’m bound to the man if you forgot. I can’t help the feelings I have for him
and I’m tired of apologizing to you for it when you know my reasons,” she said
trying to keep in control of her temper.
Snape rested his hand on the door
jab near Ginny’s head and sneered down at her.
“So now that you don’t have your
more handsome mate here you decide to default to me?”
Ginny bristled at his tone and his
words.
“That’s not true. I never stopped
wanting you. You’re the one pushing
me away,”
“You could have fooled me. It
didn’t take you long to get over me and spread you legs for the next available
man like a mare in heat,” he spat.
“What did you want me to do? Pine
after you until you decided that I was good enough to fuck again?” Ginny asked,
putting her hands on her hips and raising her voice with each word.
Snape’s lips tightened into a thin
line, looking down into the flushed face of the woman he cared deeply about.
“You have certainly proven to me
what your true intentions for this relationship have always been. Your
initiation will be a dream come true for you since you seem to love spreading
you legs for every male in sight!”
Ginny smacked Snape—hard. Snape
barely flinched at the hit but the red hand print on his face gave away the
intensity of the blow.
They both stood staring at each
other, breathing heavily. Ginny’s cheeks were wet with tears. Finally, Ginny
spoke in a shaky but calm voice.
“Fine—if you don’t want me anymore
then I can accommodate that. I’ll spend time and live with the partner who
wants me,”
“What about my children?” Snape
asked in a rough voice.
“Don’t worry about that. They will
be well cared for and free to see you whenever you want,” Ginny said, her voice
cracking at the end of the statement.
Snape resisted the urge to cup her
cheek. He hated putting her through so much.
“So be it,” Snape said quietly.
Ginny began to sob even harder. He
didn’t want her and it hurt more than she thought it would.
She turned and ran into her room. She
didn’t even glance back as she slammed closed the door in his face.
A/N: *The song Luna sang is the Alicia Keys song, Nobody Not Really. I switched around two
words (Mama and Papa) but otherwise the song is hers.
