“So, what’s your mother like?” Harry asked from his spot in Draco’s lap. He was lying on the seat beside Draco, resting his head in the Slytherin’s lap as Draco ran his hands through Harry’s thick hair.Draco smiled. “She’s wonderful. You’ll love her. She’s been more affectionate in public since Father was sent to Azkaban, so be prepared to be hugged, at the very least.” He said in amusement.“I have no problem with that.” Harry said with a smile, before it faded into a worried look. “Do you think she’ll like me?”Draco nodded. “She’s already accepted that you’re my mate, and I think she’ll adore you just as much as I do, Love. Don’t worry. Seriously, it’ll give you wrinkles.” He chastised.“No!” Harry gasped in mock horror. “Not wrinkles!”“Sarcasm doesn’t become you.” Draco said dryly.Harry sat up and watched out the window for a few moments as the countryside rolled by. “So, you’re the lord of the Manor now, right?” He asked.Draco nodded. “Yes. Why?” He asked.“Does this mean your room is the one your father used to use?” Harry asked. “Because no offense, but I don’t want to sleep where Lucius Malfoy used to sleep.”Draco laughed. “I’ll have the house-elves replace the bed before I move into that room, then. But no, for now we’ll be in my old room. I’m supposed to move into the Master suite, though. Once we finish school, those will be my rooms. Our rooms.” He answered.Harry made a face. “So long as there’s a new bed, I’m fine with that.” He said.Draco hugged him, nuzzling his neck. “I promise.”“What’s Christmas at the Manor like?” Harry asked. “Do you have any special traditions?”“Firstly, we don’t celebrate Christmas. I only invited you by using that word because that’s the name of the holiday the school uses. We are Purebloods, however, and we celebrate Yule. It’s slightly different, and happens on the Solstice. There will be a feast, and a ritual, which will involve the elements and the God and Goddess, as is proper. Yule falls on the 21st, and you will be helping with the ritual, as will Severus. You will, and I’m sorry in advance, but you, being pregnant, will be given a feminine part.” He winced and closed his eyes in preparation for Harry’s explosion. It didn’t come.Draco opened his eyes and found Harry staring at him curiously.“What’s that even mean?” Harry asked.Draco sighed in relief. “It means you will be calling upon either water or earth. Mother gets first choice, and she will be calling upon the Goddess. I, as head of the family, will be taking the role opposite her and calling the God, as well as fire, leaving air for Severus. I’m more comfortable with fire, having taken it in the past.” He said.Harry nodded. “That makes sense. I’m fine with that. So, why is Snape going to be there?”Draco flushed. “He counts as family enough to be in the ritual, and we needed a fourth, specifically another masculine energy. The magic will see you as feminine since you’re pregnant. Again, I’m sorry. There’s really no avoiding that particular point.”Harry shrugged. “That’s fine. I don’t mind it so much. I’ll survive.”Draco smiled. “I love you, Harry.” He said, pulling the brunette towards him and claiming his mouth in a deep kiss.Harry moaned happily and let himself succumb to his mate’s delicious kisses for a while.*****“Dragon!” Narcissa rushed forward and grabbed Draco up in a hug.“Mother!” Draco hissed, wriggling. “Get off, we’re in public!”Narcissa let him go, smiling. “No one was paying attention to us, there are reunions going on all around. Everyone is focused on their own loved ones.” She turned to Harry and held out a hand to him. “Hello, Mr. Potter.” She said cordially.Harry took her hand and kissed it, and she beamed. “Harry, please, Mrs. Malfoy.” He said.“Then you must call me Narcissa. Or, if you like, I would not be averse to you calling me Mother. You are soon to be a part of this family, after all. My son is quite taken with you.” She said, winking at him.Harry smiled, taking Draco’s hand in his own. “Thank you, Narcissa. I love him, as well. We’re very happy together.”“Oh, and Draco, the strangest thing happened earlier today. A pure white phoenix showed up at the house. Do you have any explanation for this?” She asked, leading them off the platform and toward a sleek black car.Draco grinned. “Oh, she’s Harry’s familiar. She’s an empathic bonding phoenix, but she hasn’t spoken to either of us yet, and Harry asked for the claiming bite two days ago, so she could have by now, if she wanted to. I wonder when she’ll decide to.” He mused.“Give her time. Maybe she just hasn’t had anything to say yet.” Harry advised.Narcissa’s eyebrows rose. “Empathic bonding phoenix? I thought they were myths?” She asked.Draco shrugged. “Apparently not. I was surprised when I found out that she could send us her emotions, but so far, she’s a wonderful bird. Her name is Niveus.”“Hmm. It suits her.” Was all Narcissa had to say about that. The ride to the Manor was filled with small talk, Narcissa asking them how they were doing in their classes and seeming surprised when she heard that Harry’s magic was acting up.“But, Harry, you’re already so powerful yourself! It’s not at all common for a powerful person to also have a powerful child! How proud you must be!” She said with a smile.Harry shrugged. “I guess I am. Honestly, I haven’t really had time to be any way about it, be it good or bad. It’s making it hard to do the schoolwork in class, so right now I’m just finding it annoying.” He said.Narcissa nodded. “Yes, I can see how that would be difficult. Well, while you’re at the Manor, you won’t need to do anything magically yourself. We have house-elves that will be more than happy to take care of anything you need.”Harry shook his head. “I wouldn’t want to impose-““Pish.” Narcissa cut him off, waving a hand. “They are there to serve, Harry, and nothing makes them happier than to fulfill their duties. Let them do things for you, and you will earn their devotion, which will come in handy as Draco’s husband later on. Besides, they have heard about you, although I don’t know how, and they are all overjoyed to be meeting you.”Harry blinked in surprise. Dobby must have talked about him to the other Malfoy elves after meeting him. “Oh. Alright, then. If you’re sure.”Narcissa nodded. “I’m certain. Don’t worry too much. Our way of life may not be what you’re used to, but we’ll ease you into it. No one expects you to be a perfect Pureblood without at least a few small missteps. It’s perfectly understandable that you may need time to grow used to it.”Draco took his hand and turned Harry’s head to face him. “Trust me, it will be fine. No one is going to criticize you, or think anything less of you. You were raised by Muggles, and we understand that you’ve never been part of a Pureblood household before. But you are now, and we’re going to get you used to it. It may be a bit much at first, but in time, you’ll acclimate to it. Remember, I love you, and once Mother knows you better, so will she.” He assured the Gryffindor.Harry took a deep breath, then nodded. “Right.” He said softly.Narcissa laughed quietly. “Don’t worry, Dear, it will be all right. You’ll see.”Draco glanced out the window, then smiled widely. “We’re here.” He said.Harry followed his gaze and blinked in surprise. ‘Okay, I knew Malfoy Manor was big, but bloody hell!’ He thought, staring at the enormous mansion they were driving up to.The car dropped them off at the end of a small path leading to the front doors and drove off, heading toward where Harry assumed the garage must be.“Wow.” Harry said, then blushed.Draco chuckled. “Yes, I know. It’s impressive, isn’t it? Come on, let’s get inside.” He said, pulling Harry along behind him.Narcissa followed them up to the doors and Draco stopped, turning to Harry with a smile. “This is the first time I’ve had to key someone to the Wards. I think it’s fitting that the first person I do this for be my mate.” He said happily. “Put your hand on the door.”Harry laid his palm on the door, watching the Wards as they sparked.Draco laid his palm next to it, his wand held between his hand and the door. He took a deep breath and spoke with authority: “Sicut dominus huius domus huic iam hospitalitati.”The Wards stopped sparking and warmed under Harry’s hand, flowing over him and sending a slight tingling through his body. “Oh!” He turned to Draco with wide eyes.Draco smiled. “Good. Now, let’s go in.” He said, opening the doors and walking in.A house-elf popped in to take thier cloaks, and Draco smiled down at it. “Harry’s cloak is to go into my wardrobe. He’ll be staying in my rooms.” He told the diminutive creature, who bowed.“Yes, Master Draco!” It turned to Harry. “Pippa is welcoming you to the family, Master Harry Potter!”Narcissa came in behind them and shut the door, and another house-elf popped in to take her cloak as Pippa popped back out.Draco smiled at Harry. “Pippa will be your personal elf. Ellie, wherever she is, is mine, and Tilly over there is Mother’s.” He said, gesturing to the elf that was bowing to Narcissa before it disappeared with a ‘pop.’“Do you decide which elf will belong to which person?” Harry asked in curiosity.Draco smiled. “No. I only know that Pippa is yours because she’s the one that came to welcome you into the family. The elves decide who gets the honor of serving a new member when the family has additions. New spouses and children are always given their own elf.” He explained, leading Harry to the staricase. “We’ll be back down for dinner, Mother, but I’d like to show Harry to my rooms and get settled in now.” He said.Narcissa smiled. “Of course, Darling. I’ll see you at dinner.” She said.Draco led Harry up the stairs and down a long hallway, coming to stop at the door. “These are my personal rooms.” He said, opneing the door.An elf was lighting a fire in what appeared to be a sitting room.Draco smiled. “Ah, there you are! Ellie, this is Master Harry. He’s my mate.” He told the elf, who turned and bowed.“Welcome to the family, Master Harry Potter, sir!” She squeaked. “We has all been looking forward to meeting Dobby’s Harry Potter!”Harry flushed. “Um, thank you. Just Harry is fine.”Ellie nodded. “Yes, Master Harry!” She said, then finished working on the fire and left.Draco smirked. “I was wondering how they knew of you. Dobby would explain it. Whatever happened to my father’s elf, anyway?” He asked Harry.Harry flushed. “I may have tricked your father into freeing him at the end of second year.” He mumbled.Draco stared at him in shock for a moment before erupting in laughter. “Oh, Merlin, that’s priceless! How did you do that?”“I gave him Tom Riddle’s diary back, stuck into one of my socks. He took the diary out and gave the sock to Dobby. Dobby took it as a dismissal.” Harry said, grinning.Draco snorted. “He would. Hated my father, Dobby did. I can see why, the man was always mean to the elves. Bordering on cruel. Thankfully, Mother taught me that you can be nice to them and they’ll still do their job, plus be loyal to boot. Ellie, for one, would probably gladly die for me.”“Well, I’m glad you’re not mean to them. I hate to see house-elves being mistreated.” Harry said. “I’ve yet to see a mean house-elf, after all. I’ve seen a crazy one, but he wasn’t mean to anyone, per se.” Harry said, thinking of Kreacher.Draco blinked at him. “I’ve never seen a crazy house-elf. How odd.” He said, walking over to the door they hadn’t entered through. “This is my bedroom.” He said, opening it.Harry looked in and gaped. “It’s huge.” He said in slight shock. “I mean, the whole house is huge, but why would you need so much space?!” He asked incredulously.Draco shrugged. “I really don’t, but these are the rooms meant for the heir, so they’ve always been my rooms, at least since I left the nursery at five.” He said lightly.“Where’s the nursery?” Harry asked in interest.Draco smiled. “I’ll show you. You can make any changes to it that you want, since it’s going to need to be ready for our baby.” He said, leading Harry out of the room and down the hall. “It connects to the Master bedroom, so we can head there next, since we need to make arrangements for a new bed, anyway.” He said, opening a door and walking into a bright, airy room painted a baby blue color. There was a large crib in one corner, with a mobile above it with unicorns and dragons dangling from it, as well as a changing table and a small dresser and wardrobe against the wall. There was also a child-size bed with a dragon bedspread on it, and Harry smiled, imagining a younger Draco, curled up in the bed, sleeping soundly.“I like it, but if we have a girl, the color will need to be changed.” Harry said, tracing the walls.Draco smiled. “I think we should just change everything. There’s no reason for my things to be used again. I would rather buy things we’d like our child to have, rather than keeping the things Mother and Father wanted me to have.” He said, looking over the room.Harry smiled. “Why? Do you think our child won’t like dragons?”Draco snorted. “Well, they certainly won’t be named after them, unless we have a boy and it ends up being a middle name.”Harry looked up. “Would you like to use your name as a middle name if we have a boy?”Draco shrugged. “It’s tradition in most Pureblood families, the Potter family included, to give the firstborn boy the Father’s first name as a middle name. I’d like to keep that tradition going, if you don’t mind.”Harry smiled. “So that’s why my middle name is James?” He asked.Draco nodded. “Yes, I’m assuming your father wanted to keep with tradition as well. There’s really no reason not to, after all. How often are middle names used?”“I think I’d like that, but we need a first name for a boy, too.” Harry pointed out.“Well, I’d like to keep with Black family tradition like my mother did, and name the child after a star or constellation, if we could.” Draco said softly. “Although I understand if you don’t want to.” He added at Harry’s surprised look.“No, that would be fine with me. Did you already have a name in mind?” Harry asked.Draco flushed. “Scorpius, for a boy. Carina, for a girl.” He said.Harry smiled, taking his hand. “You’ve really given it a lot of thought. This must mean a lot to you.”“I respect my mother’s side of the family more. The Black family was just as old as the Malfoys, and they deserve to be honored. Besides, the Malfoy family didn’t have any naming traditions besides naming the heir after the father as a middle name, to the best of my knowledge.” He explained.“So, Scorpius Draco Potter? Or would you want the firstborn boy to be the one to carry the Malfoy name forward?” Harry asked thoughtfully. “Because I plan to have at least two boys, since we need one for each. We’ll need a Potter, too.”“I don’t care all that much about which boy gets which last name, so long as Malfoy does get carried on by one boy.” Draco said, opening the door to the Master suite and wrinkling his nose. “Ellie!” He called out.Ellie popped into the room. “Yes, Master Draco?”“Get this bed out of here. We’ll be buying a new one. I don’t care what you do with this one, but I want it out of this bedroom by tonight.” Draco ordered.Ellie nodded. “Ellie will get rid of the bed, Master Draco!” She replied eagerly.“Scorpius Draco Malfoy.” Harry murmured from behind him, causing Draco to turn to him with an eyebrow raised.“You’re sure?” Draco asked.Harry smiled. “If I get to name the next boy.”Draco chuckled, wrapping his arms around Harry’s waist. “What did you have in mind for a name?”Harry smiled. “Albus Severus Potter.” He suggested.Draco grinned. “Severus will kill you when he finds out.” He pointed out.Harry chuckled. “Best not tell him before we’re safely out of Hogwarts, then.” He replied. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
