Chapter Fifteen
I was thrilled when Healer Mungo gave me the news that Draco and I were going to have a baby. She had made a special trip just for me, dropping whatever it was that took her out of town, to come back and perform the test for me, and I was thankful that she did. With Draco away at a conference I had ample time to come up with a creative way of telling him the great news, but I wished he’d come back soon because I was chomping at the bit tell him everything about the baby! It all had to be perfect. Oh who cared that we were fighting before he left. I was going to be a mother! The whole question of whether or not I’d be an Auror was completely and utterly moot now that I was pregnant. I would of course quit my job with the Ministry and Draco would be happy. I couldn’t wait to throw my arms around him and to tell him that news too.
I threw on a snug fitting; black gown and a pair of heels that made me feel sexy as I waited for my husband to arrive. I wanted to make a night of it. I made reservations at the Lucky Lizard restaurant. The name was terrible but the food was good and they had a posh ballroom where couples danced the night away. I would spend the night in his arms where he would twirl and dip me and only then would I drop the bombshell on Draco about the baby. I couldn’t wait to see the look on his face, I was positively ecstatic with the news! No, we hadn’t talked about having children right away, but I knew that Draco wanted them so I was sure that the news would find him well. I spritzed my neck with the expensive perfume that Draco had given me for my birthday and then I applied a light coat of lipstick as I puckered my lips in the mirror. My hair always gave me trouble, but thanks to Parvati, who became a hairdresser after Hogwarts, my new do looked fabulous. My frizzy bush of a mane was finally tamed and I actually looked pretty with ringlets of waves that framed my face. Even the texture of my hair had changed. It was soft and smooth instead of dry with split-ends. I hoped that Draco would like it.
“Hermione? I’m home,” Draco said and my heart skipped a beat. I rounded the staircase with only my evening bag and my wand in hand and then I laughed when I saw Draco standing in the door to the guest bedroom (the room that was planned to be a nursery). The bedspread, which was always meant to be a kid’s room though neither of us said it as we put the room together, had changed. Gone were the scarlet and gold, Gryffindor colors, only to be replaced by green and silver by my Slytherin husband. I waved my wand and the Gryffindor colors were once again displayed on the bedspread. He turned on his heels when he saw the colors change. “I’ll get you for that,” he said laughing as he turned. “Wow!”
“You like?” I said and I twirled in place.
“Oh yeah, I like,” he said and he closed the distance between us in nothing flat. “It’s not our anniversary? Did I miss an important date? I’m sorry, the conference ran long,” he said as he dropped kisses down my neck.
“No, I just felt like going out. Up for dinner and dancing?” I asked.
“Uhh, there’s something I wanted to talk to you about,” he said, but I was literally busting at the seams to spill my own news, and in my eagerness I rather blew off what he said.
“I have something I want to talk about too,” I said barely able to keep the news of the baby under my hat. “Come on, get dressed. I made reservations.”
“Babe, I really need to tell you—ah, alright. You look so beautiful. I don’t want to disappoint.”
Dinner was lovely. Marcel sat us at our regular table, outside on the terrace where a magnificent, bewitched waterfall pattered against the rocks, creating an ambience that just couldn’t be matched. It was perfect. Everything was just right! After dinner Draco offered me his arm and we danced and danced with me in his arms and I felt like a princess. It was great! “You might want to skip the dip,” I said when the music changed to a faster song.
“And why is that? It gives me the opportunity to glare at your sexy cleavage,” he purred and he wagged his eyebrows.
“They’re all yours,” I whispered and he said something quite naughty in my ear as we turned in time with the music.
“Baby, I have to tell you something. I feel as if I don’t deserve—“ he said but I cut him off.
“I have news too. Please, may I go first?” I asked and Draco nodded. “You shouldn’t dip me because in my condition it could hurt something,” I said cryptically. I saw his eyes change into Healer Malfoy’s eyes, serious and professional and his whole demeanor changed.
“What’s wrong? Are you alright? Did something happen while I was away at the conference?” he asked nervously and I could see him scanning my pupils, skin and other obvious signs of illness.
“I’m fine! Perfect really. We can dance, I mean it should be fine, right? I suppose I should ask a Healer if it’s alright for a woman with child to take a spin or two around the dance floor,” I said with a smirk and then I watched. It took him a moment to process my words. His eyes went wide and his reserved and quiet mood changed in an instant.
“A baby? You’re—were you tested? How did this—“ When did you find--? We’re going to have a baby?” he finally asked.
“Yes! Janet performed the test. It’s official! We are going to be parents.” His face dropped but only a little when I mentioned the test. I mistook it for shock.
“I love you so much,” he said and he hugged me tightly in his arms. “Champagne for everyone. My wife’s having our baby,” he called out and the other patrons all cheered and clapped. It was truly a perfect moment. Of course he later chastised the waiter when I was handed a glass of the bubbly, claiming that pregnant women couldn’t drink alcoholic beverages. It was cute though and I smiled. I liked him doting over me, it made me feel special. Later, when we got home he took me to the bedroom where he carefully undressed me. I’ll never forget the love in his eyes as he laid me on my back and then dragged his lips down my body. I teared up when he kissed my abdomen and then softly whispered words of devotion and love to our unborn child that grew in my womb. We made tender love that night.
I woke up panting and half way to a riveting climax. My eyes went wide when I saw the kids in our bed and Draco sleeping soundly on the other side of the big bed. I was on fire though, so I padded to the loo where I closed the door and turned on the shower. It was shameful what I was about to do, but it couldn’t be helped I was hornier than a toad and I knew it wouldn’t take much as I stripped off my night down and stepped into the steamy shower. I let my head fall back into the water and I closed my eyes as my hand made its way down my tummy where it rested between my legs. Thoughts of Draco making love to me careened through my mind and my breathing became labored the closer I came to a satisfying ending.
“If that isn’t the hottest thing I’ve ever seen, I don’t know what is,” I heard his husky voice and I went ridged. My breath hitched in my throat and I popped my eyes open only to see Draco standing there, watching me masturbate. Talk about being embarrassed.
“It’s not what it looks like…What I mean to say is….?” I stumbled for words.
“Oh shut up. Allow me,” he said and then he dropped his pajama bottoms and climbed in the shower with me, shutting the curtains.
“Draco, I don’t know about this,” I said.
“Yeah, I know we still have problems, but I also know that you are a woman who needs sex. Just let me give you what you need,” he purred and then I felt his fingers enter me as his body caged me against the shower wall. Steam billowed from the shower and I was lost in a foggy haze as my husband pumped his hand inside me. His cock was painfully rigid and I could feel it jutting against my swollen bud.
“Oh Draco, fuck me,” I urged when I could take his teasing no more.
“Yes,” he hissed and then I was being turned around as I faced the wall. I braced my hands against the shower wall and then I felt his hot breath on my neck. I howled out in ecstasy when I felt the penetrating force of his cock. He gripped me tight around the hips and I inhaled when his full length slid into my slick heat. “You’re so hot and wet for me. You were dreaming about this, I know you were. Weren’t you?” he rasped in my ear as he bucked inside me.
“Yes,” I cried out. “Oh God Draco, fuck me,” I begged and he didn’t disappoint as he hammered his cock into me again and again. My breasts were pancaked against the shower wall as was my cheek when my orgasm smashed down over me like a tsunami. Draco’s chest was slick against my back and his stubbled cheek scraped against my shoulder like sandpaper, which just made me come harder. He was lightly moaning in my ear and then our combined moans mingled together in the steam filled shower and all at once he was coming in me. “Ohh yes, Gods you feel good,” I cried out as our lovemaking reached its conclusion. My legs felt like wet noodles by the time we were done and I was thankful that Draco knew that as he extended his hand to help me from the shower.
“That was really something,” he said as he dried off and dressed.
“Very good,” I agreed. Our conversation was awkward, which in itself was awkward because our lovemaking was anything but awkward. “I’ll get started on breakfast,” I said.
“I’ll get the kids up and dressed,” he said and we both nodded.
__0__
“Look, we’re going to have to face facts,” Draco said as I flipped pancakes. The kids were up and dressed and chatting at the breakfast table. “Our son is a vampire. He needs blood.”
“Well, I’m fresh out of blood,” I said with my back to the blond. “I get what you’re saying Draco.”
“I’m going to send the house elf to the market. Perhaps Spritely can pick up some extra bloody beef.”
“What?” I said turning around. “We don’t have a house elf.”
“Ah, yes we do. His name is Spritely,” Draco said and then with a crack a diminutive elf appeared in front of him. My eyes went wide. “He stays out of sight, mostly for you. You were never really okay with us owning a house elf.”
“Master Malfoy, you called?” he said and he bowed. He was dressed in what appeared to be butler type clothes, as he donned an all-black suit and tie.
“Draco, I don’t know about this,” I said.
“Mistress Malfoy,” Spritely said and he turned to me. I nearly laughed when I saw that one of his ears was flopping over his eye and he resembled the Easter Bunny instead of an elf. “I was freed when the war ended. I had no place to go.”
“It was your idea,” Draco smirked. “He needed a home, and he’s very good. He even came with references from a King and Queen.”
“It was my idea? Well, yes I can see that I suppose if he was homeless. “
“Good then, that’s settled. Spritely, go and fetch us some cuts of beef. I don’t want the cheap stuff either. Prime, grade A, angus beef. Only the best for our son,” Draco commanded and the elf nodded. I cringed when I heard my husband order an elf about like a slave. “What’s wrong? Was that not nice enough?” Draco asked though he was still smirking. “Please,” Draco threw in for good measure and I nodded. With another crack the elf was gone.
“Thanks Daddy. My tummy is growling,” Edmond said and he rubbed his belly.
“It won’t be long, son. Well, I suppose that means more pancakes for me,” Draco said and he sat down at the table between Effie and Edmond. Both children smiled.
“Nah-uh, means more for me Daddy,” Effie said and Draco laughed. I even smiled. I wasn’t heartless, and I loved seeing my husband get on with his daughter, after all it wasn’t her fault that she was born. Nor was it Effie’s fault that her mother was a bitch from hell.
“Oh Effie, you got syrup in your hair. Off you go, upstairs so I can wash it,” I said when I noticed the sticky goop in Effie’s sheet of blonde hair.
“I can do it if you don’t wish to,” Draco offered as he cautiously stepped around the whole me being a Step Mum now thing. I rolled my eyes at him and replied with a, “It’s fine,” as I escorted her up the stairs. I heard the doorbell as we entered the bathroom and I suddenly remembered Professor Snively.
“Janet going to hex you for washing my hair,” Effie said as I undressed her and put her into a warm bath.
“Yes, well Janet will have to be really good with a wand in order to hex me,” I said, with probably a little too much arrogance in my voice that I hadn’t meant for Effie to hear.
“She scares me,” Effie murmured.
“Effie, people used to call me the brightest witch of my age. That was a long time ago though, but I daresay that I was pretty good, even better than your Mummy. So don’t worry. I’m going to wash your hair now, and there’s no need to be frightened. If your Mummy has a problem I will just hit her with the bat bogey jinx. We’ll see how she likes that,” I said, again going totally overboard in front of the child but I just couldn’t help it. Effie was delighted though and she giggled.
“I want to sock her in the nose,” she giggled.
“Yes, I’m sure you do,” I said as I wet her hair and rubbed the shampoo in.
“Then I want to kick her in da bum,” Effie said and she punched and kicked at the air, splashing around in the tub. I wanted to laugh, but it probably wasn’t appropriate to.
“Honestly, I want to do that too, but it’s not really polite to talk that way honey,” I said and Effie nodded.
“So it’s just our secret?” she asked and I smiled and reached out and shook the little girl’s hand. That’s when I first noticed it. I covered my mouth with my hand. I looked down and the water in the tub was tinted with a milky substance.
“Uh, Draco, I require your assistance for a moment,” I hollered out and then I reached for a towel as I helped Effie from the bath.
“Am I in trouble?” Effie asked and she looked at with eyes like a doe caught in the headlights of an oncoming semi-truck. She was terrified!
“Absolutely not. You’re a good girl and I—well we love you,” I said as Draco entered the upstairs bathroom just in time to hear that. His eyes went wide too when he saw it. “Let’s get you dressed and you can run and play with Edmond. I bet he’d like to play with you,” I said and I gave Draco a look that said to hush until the child was out of earshot. “There we go, you look all pretty again,” I said as I brushed Effie’s hair all while Draco looked on. I could see the wheels in his head turning as he pondered what it all meant. “Now run and play honey,” I said.
“What in the fuck?” Draco finally said when his daughter had gone.
“I know! I was just as shocked as you. Why would Janet do this? Why would she color her daughters hair when her natural color suits her so much better?”
“I don’t know but I intend to find out,” Draco said. “Is there anything that you saw when you looked at her?” he asked and I was confused.
“Other than the fact that her hair is not blonde at all but is instead a deep chestnut color?”
“Nothing else?” he asked again and I shook my head no. “Alright. Maybe it’s just me,” he quipped and he turned to leave.
“Where are you going? You can’t just leave.”
“I have some pressing business.”
“Not now you don’t, Mister. Professor Snively came all this way to give us couples therapy. I think it might be nice if you, oh I don’t know, stayed around for it?” I said growing angry.
“Yeah, I see your point. It’s not what you’re thinking,” he said when he saw the anger in my face upon hearing that he intended to blow off our therapy session.
“Save it, Draco,” I said and I waved my hand to him in dismissal as I trod down the stairs. I stopped and waved my wand when I caught a glimpse of the Slytherin colored bedspread through the crack in the door of the nursery. I smiled when it was once again awesome in scarlet and gold, Gryffindor colors, that was until I heard Draco behind me who chanted something under his breath. I could only assume that he changed it back to ugly, Slytherin green. I rolled my eyes but deep inside, way deep inside, I was smiling. Old habits die hard.

The kids were taking an early afternoon nap, so it was the perfect time to sit down with the Professor for some good ole, couples therapy. What was hilarious was the fact that it was Draco, not me who found the session extremely uncomfortable. After all, he was the Healer, so one would think that therapy would be right down his alley, but it wasn’t. At all. “Stop it,” I said to my husband when I became annoyed.
“Stop what?” Draco shot back.
“Doing that! Each time anyone asks you a question you follow it up with a question of your own. Just bloody answer already,” I said feeling exasperated.
“I can’t help it, okay? It’s just the way I am.”
“Really, I never noticed?” I said sarcastically and I rolled my eyes.
“Enough,” Snively said and he held up his hand. “I can see where this is headed. You will be at one another’s throats in ten seconds flat if I don’t step in and put an end to this.”
“I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say that,” Draco quipped.
“Rubbish, Draco! He’s right. Can’t you just let him help us?”
“I’m all for that! Blast,” Draco cursed. “You act as if I wasn’t the one who suggested this for us in the first place. I am the only one here who was professionally trained as a Healer.”
“You always do that,” I drawled.
“Do what?”
“Have to call out your skills as a Healer,” I said.
“Well I bloody am! Not only that but I’m the most sought after—“
“Healer in all of Britain!” I finished his sentence for him. “We know! So just shut up and listen to someone else for a change.”
“Haha!” Snively laughed.
“What’s so bloody funny?” Draco fired back.
“What’s so funny is that Hermione, who I once used to call Know-It-All, is calling you out for being a bloody know it all. She’s right too! It’s funny,” the Professor said and he laughed great belly laughs.
“Thank you,” I said and I smirked at Draco who was stewing.
“Just get on with it,” Draco mumbled.
“Oh yes hurry up, my husband has somewhere else more important to be,” I said and I crossed my arms and blew a stray hair out of my face.
“I have something with me that can fix everything,” Snively said and four eyebrows flew up. He reached into his attaché case and produced a dusty old book. “All you have to do is read this,” the old man said and then he sat back with a victorious expression playing over his face.
“Great,” Draco said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
“I know what you’re thinking Draco. You think that he doesn’t know how to fix us so he’s shoveling the job off on some author of some random self-help book. Right?” I asked and I looked at Draco for an answer.
“You know me well,” he said.
“I know I do. Too well. That’s weird how I knew that,” I quipped to myself. “You’re too cynical,” I said and Draco opened his mouth to defend himself. “Look Draco you are. You are sometimes cynical and untrusting. I get it, I do, so don’t look at me like that. If I had parents like yours, I wouldn’t be so quick to trust either.”
“Ah yes, blame my parents. If this is going to lead to an hour long session where we bash Lucius and Narcissa for everything wrong in the wizarding world, save it! I already know I had shit parents, but then just about the time I think father must be the worst rotten apple of the bunch, he does something so out of character that it makes me reconsider him.”
“Oh, like what?” I asked, curiously.
“Like giving the leftover food to the poor people of Druids Path? Remember? Or, like putting the Malfoy seal into your wedding ring in order to offer you some limited protection perhaps?”
“He did that for me?” I asked and I stared at my ring. Suddenly I was hit with a flashback and I fell out of my chair, seizing, it was so powerful.
“You have to go. I need to reexamine her wound,” Janet said as she hovered over me wearing a mask and Healer robes. I was in hospital and I had a pounding headache when I awoke. I remembered the curse and Dohlohov and three other former Deatheaters who surrounded me. I had fought two of them off with my quick wand work but the last one hit me. The next thing I knew I woke up in hospital with Healer Janet, a colleague of Draco’s standing over me and a throbbing headache. I felt as if I’d been flattened by the Knight Bus it hurt so bad.
“I’ll just wait for Draco to get back,” Lucius Malfoy said as he sat at my bedside. I knew who I was. I knew why he was there and none of it seemed unnatural or strange.
“You can find him down in the cantina. He just performed a two hour surgery and he’s tired. Go and find him,” Janet ordered and Lucius narrowed his eyes on the Healer as if he didn’t trust her.
“I wanted him to look at my wand arm, it’s bothering me again, that is after all what brought me down here on this evening, but then I saw my daughter in-law so I stopped in for a visit.”
“Even so, you need to go. I haven’t much time,” Janet said nervously.
“Janet, it’s fine. He can stay if he wants to. He’s not bothering me, in fact, it’s nice to have a visitor,” I said and I smiled cordially up at Mr. Malfoy. No, he wasn’t my favorite person by any means but Janet was being rude to my husband’s father and that bothered me more.
“May I see your ring?” Lucius said and without thinking I extended my hand to him. He took my hand gently in his and then he chanted something under his breath. My eyes went wide when I saw the wand sticking out of his coat but he assured me with his eyes that it was alright. For whatever the reason I trusted him on that night. I saw a small spark and it tickled my finger when his spell hit my wedding band. Then he let go of my hand. “It’s been in the family for centuries. Edmond Malfoy and his wife were the owners of the rings that you and Draco wear as a symbol of your love. Edmond, that’s a nice name isn’t it?”
“Actually, it is,” I smiled.
“Maybe even for a grandson?” he asked and I chuckled. That’s when he leaned down so that only I could hear what he said and he mouthed the words. “Protect this memory with your life. It’s protection should anything ever happen to you.”
“Alright, enough of the history lesson. Get out now, Lucius, or I’ll call security!” Janet said angrily.
“Testy, aren’t we? I’m going. Miss Mungo, please leave the girl alone. I’m a longtime friend of your fathers and I am asking you not to do this. Do tell Draco I was here,” Lucius said and then he took his leave.
“I’m going to need that memory now, along with many others,” Janet said and she stared down at me with a sinister expression. I tried to move, intent on fighting the witch by whatever means but then I couldn’t move. “It’s the spell I cast on you while you were enjoying a trip down memory lane with Lucius Malfoy.”
“I want Draco. Where’s Draco?” I said angrily.
“We don’t have much time, bitch. You’re going to use my wand. Come on now, I’ll guide your hand for you. You’re going to pull out all your memories of Draco into the bowl,” she said and she set a wooden bowl down on my lap as I lay helpless in my hospital bed.
“No, I won’t,” I said.
“You will, or your little bun in the oven will cease to exist. Which would you prefer because you can’t keep both? Your memory of your husband, or his child?”
“You can’t be serious?”
“Oh but I am Hermione! Tick tock. Decisions, decisions. Which is it? Right then, you want to keep your husband? I get it, he’s hot. I would know since he’s mine and you stole him from me! So if that’s your decision then say goodbye to little Malfoy,” she said and she pointed her wand at my abdomen.
“No, please!” tears burst from my eyes. “Draco,” I called out weakly.
“So you choose your child then? Me personally, I’d have chosen the man, but that’s just me. Put the memories in the bowl. You have to the count of three to pull those memories out, memories that never belonged to you but to me and put them in the fucking bowl Hermione!” She was mental, she was a raving lunatic. She really believed that I had somehow taken Draco from her. With her wand at my belly and me unable to move, I had no choice, so with her assistance guiding my wand for me I began to pull the silvery strands that were memories right out of my head as I dropped them in the bowl. Tears streamed down my face as I was forced to erase my husband from my memory.
“Now the last one, the one of Lucius. Put it in the damn bowl and lets be done with this.” I heard Lucius’s warning, though I didn’t understand it anymore, and yet his words to protect that memory with my life resounded in my head and so I left that memory intact, and instead gave her a memory from my childhood at Hogwarts when I got my first Outstanding on a test.
“Why am I doing this Janet? What happened?” I asked, terribly confused.
“You’re going to go to sleep now,” Janet said and she waved her wand over me and began to hiss like a snake. It’s the snake language I thought to myself, Harry could also speak it I told myself. My eyes felt heavy and then they fell closed. “When you awake you won’t remember any of this,” she soothed and again more indecipherable hissing sounds escaped her lips. “If anyone tells you that you are married to that despicable Draco Malfoy, your first instinct will be to take your own life,” she said and I nodded as I fell into a deep sleep.

“Hermione?” Draco said and when I awoke he was holding my hand and hovering over me with a seriously worried expression marring his face. “Thank goodness. You gave us a good scare. What happened love?” he asked.
“Oh Draco, I remember what happened after my accident! She did it. She took my memories of you. I had to pick, you or our baby,” I said as tears burst from my eyes.
“Shhh it’s okay,” he said and his arms encircled me.
“No, it’s not okay. She made me choose and I didn’t choose you. I didn’t choose you,” I cried.
“You choose our baby, it’s alright. You did the right thing Hermione.”
“She made me want to kill myself! Draco, I’m so sorry. How can you ever forgive me? I love you so much.”
“I love you too baby. It’s going to be alright,” he said soothing me.

He was deep in thought as he stared out the window of the study. In his hand was the Timeturner, the one he’d procured from his father’s illegal, wizard collection of ancient artifacts. He knew what he had to do. He had to see it for himself. “You can’t change anything, no matter how hard it is for you to watch.”
“Oh, hey,” he said when he turned to see Professor Snively behind him.
“Hermione?” the old man asked.
“She’s resting. Finally. I gave her a sleeping potion, she was in hysterics.”
“And now you’re going to use that and travel back to the past? Why? It won’t change anything, unless that is what you mean to do?”
“No. I mean, I don’t know. I don’t know what to do.”
“Don’t do it,” Snively said.
“And why not?” Draco fired back angrily. “If I can go back and just be there instead of going off to talk to Potter and Weaselbee. I should have been there!”
“You did your job Draco. You removed all of the curse from her wound. That was your job. You trusted Healer Mungo to do the easy bits, as you should have. That’s what an assistant does. It’s their whole job description for Merlinsakes. It’s not your fault.”
“Isn’t it though?”
“No. It’s not. Now if you go back and change what happened, sure, you might have your wife back in one piece, but what of the hundreds of patients you healed in the four years you spent apart? What’s to happen to them?”
“Who’s to say I wouldn’t have healed them anyway?” Draco quipped, rationalizing things in his mind. He wanted to go back and stop Janet, and he had the means to do it.
“Nothing. You might have worked day and night like I’m assuming that you did, spending all your time with patients because you didn’t care to be around your family. Do you think that’s something that you might do?”
“No, it isn’t. I might have even retired. I was planning to.”
“So there’s your answer. You can go back and prevent Janet from hurting your wife, and in so you will kill hundreds, if not thousands.”
“I already know that I’m going to use this thing,” Draco said as a matter of fact. “I saw myself last night. I warned Potter about the vampires, so I already know that I’m going to use this blasted timeturner.”
“I don’t know why you would. You know you can’t change the past or many who wouldn’t have died, might. Why put yourself through the pain of watching someone hurt the one you love when you can’t do anything to stop it?”
“Because of what I saw today. My daughter…” he trailed off.
“What about the sweet child?” Snively asked.
“She looks exactly like Hermione, and it isn’t just the hair which is the exact color of hers. Did you notice, because Hermione didn’t when I asked her? Am I completely nutters or is Effie not the spitting image of my wife?”
“You…I’m hesitant to answer this, so goodnight.”
“Please. I need to know if it’s just me, if I was just seeing something that wasn’t really there!”
“You’re not crazy,” Snively said. “They look enough alike to warrant your questioning.”
“Thank you. I have to go back and see the birth of my son. Janet made sure that I wasn’t there by sending me out on a call.”
“Goodluck. Please don’t change a thing. You will want to, but you can’t. Remember that.”
“I will,” Draco said and then he watched as the old man turned again to leave. “Were you bullshitting us about the answers being in that book? I have to know,” Draco chuckled.
“No. It’s my book--a manual for MatchMakers, and the only book like it on this Earth.”
“I want to read it.”
“Not you. Hermione,” he said flatly.
“She was always your favorite,” Draco said.
“Yes, she was, and is,” Snively chuckled and Draco smiled and shook his head. “You’re alright though too.”
