Chapter 16

Hermione and Ginny ran down the tunnel that led to Hogwarts and quickly squeezed through the opening in the statue. They ran toward the Headmaster's office and began shouting sweets at the Gargoyle as soon as it was in sight. As it slid open, they charged up the stairs and threw open the door to the Headmaster's office.

"Miss. Granger, Miss. Weasley, what can I do for the two of you?" he asked, his blue eyes twinkling with mirth.

Ginny put a hand to her chest, trying to catch her breath, "Death Eaters are attacking Hogsmeade. Harry and Ron are trying to get as many students to safety as they can."

The headmaster moved out of his chair so quickly, Ginny could have sworn that he apperated. He moved in front of the fireplace and tossed in a pinch of floo powder.

"There are Death Eaters in Hogsmeade, the students are at risk," he shouted into the flames. He turned toward the two girls, "Go to the Great Hall, Aurors are apperating to Hogsmeade right now. We will come and let you know what is happening." He touched his wand to his throat and whispered a spell, and then he spoke, "ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS, PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE GREAT HALL AT ONCE. TEACHERS, PLEASE MEET IN THE ENTRANCE HALL." The two girls walked to the Great Hall and watched from the door as Dumbledore told the teachers what was going on.

Hermione covered her mouth and stepped out the door, "Sir," she said. "There are students coming to the school from a secret passage in Honeydukes. Someone should be there to tell them where to come."

He nodded at her, "Quite right Miss. Granger, you and Miss. Weasley go and wait on the fourth floor and send all of the students here. I will send the off duty dragon keepers here to protect them, and I will send one up to the fourth floor so that you and Miss. Weasley are protected as well."

The teachers ran out the door with their wands drawn, heading for the battle that they knew was happening in Hogsmeade.

Harry stood face to face with the coward that had betrayed his parents, "They trusted you, and you turned them over to Voldemort," he said. "You are the reason they died."

"You would be dead too, if your mother hadn't died protecting you," he spat. "My master wants you, and I will bring you to him." He aimed his wand at Harry and shouted, "Crucio!"

Harry screamed as the curse hit him, blinding him with pain. Wormtail walked forward, holding the curse on him, he knelt down and raised his wand. He reached into his robes, grabbed Harry's hand and touched the portkey that was in his pocket.

Ron watched in horror as Wormtail cast the spell on Harry then grabbed his hand and disappeared. With a series of loud pops, Aurors appeared and began stunning as many Death Eaters as they could before they all apperated away. He felt a hand on his shoulder and he quickly turned his wand in his hand. Professor Dumbledore was standing behind him, a look of defeat in his eyes.

"I'm assuming that they have captured Harry," he said. Ron just nodded his head numbly. "Lets get the students back to the castle, and they we will find a way to rescue Harry."

Ron sat in the headmaster's office, Hermione on one side and Ginny on the other. The three were in shock, Harry had been taken by Death Eaters. Ginny looked at her brother, "Has anyone told Charlie?" she asked in a whisper.

Ron looked over at her, "Not yet, Professor Dumbledore wanted to wait until he was here with us. He thought that it might be easier for him if you were there." Ron grabbed both of their hands and looked at Hermione, "Promise me that we'll do everything we can to get him back," he turned to Ginny, "And that you'll do everything you can to protect that baby. Harry would want Charlie to have a part of him if we don't get him back. Ginny you have to stay here, protected, no matter what."

Ginny nodded her head, "I will stay in the castle and only leave it if I have an escort, a fully qualified witch or wizard."

The door to the office opened and Charlie walked in, followed by Dumbledore. "Where's Harry?" he asked when he saw the three students sitting in front of the desk.

Professor Dumbledore conjured a chair for Charlie and motioned for him to sit. "That is why we are here, Mr. Weasley." He moved around and sat down behind the desk. "Harry, your brother and sister and Miss. Granger were in Hogsmeade when the attack happened. Harry directed Miss. Granger to escort your sister and the students in the three broomsticks back to the school through a secret passage in Honeydukes. He and your brother went outside and began sending students to the passage, a Death Eater cornered him, cast the Cruciatus curse on him then portkeyed away with him."

Charlie sat staring at the headmaster, "You know where he is don't you?" he asked.

Dumbledore shook his head, "At this time Mr. Weasley, we have no idea where he was taken. When Severus returns, we may have an idea, but until then we can only wait."

Arthur Weasley stepped out of the fireplace in the kitchen of the Burrow and went in search of his wife. "Molly dear, where are you?"

Molly heard him call and came down the steps from where she was preparing a room for Harry and Charlie to stay in at the end of the year, they would prepare the baby's room when they were here to tell her what they wanted. "Arthur, what are you doing home in the middle of the day?" she asked.

"Molly, I have bad news," he said as he led her to a chair. "Harry has been taken by Death Eaters."

Sorry about the long wait, but I was trying to decide if they were going to capture him or if Dumbledore was going to get there in time to save him.
