Harry was glad he hadn't been at Malfoy Manor long enough to have misplaced most of his belongings. Thankfully all of the new clothes and robes he had bought for school had already been placed in his new trunk. He simply had to open the door to his walk-in-wardrobe to indicate to the house elves that he wanted that stuff packed. He made sure to leave out his guitar and his songbooks. He did a last sweep of the room to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything before hurrying off to meet with Lucius. He knew his brain was gonna be melted trying to understand some of the stuff he was gonna be told.
Arriving at his uncle's study Harry knocked and was called to come in. Lucius and Severus were sitting in comfortable chairs around a small table that was stacked with folders of parchment. His uncle indicated a seat and started going through all of the things he needed Harry to know.
An hour later Harry thought his brain really was a puddle of mush. He knew being an heir as powerful as he was would be hard work but he was seriously daunted by all he ahd to contend with. Being the head of an old pureblood line meant that he had to oversee and approve all marriages and bondings within the Black family. However, his interest peaked when he realised that he could also disinherit and dissolve the marriages of family members. "So you're saying I could strip Bellatrix from the family?" Harry asked his uncle curiously checking to see if what he had interpreted was right.
"Yes Harry. I would encourage it. You can go one step further in fact. You can dissolve her marriage first, strip her from the family and reclaim all that belonged to the Black family line from her vault or house to your posession. I also believe that if she is stripped of any name, either through marriage or her own blood family she will be unable to access her Gringotts vault at all. Plus anything that does not have a direct link as belonging to her will be returned to its rightful place. I am almost certain based on what she has said that she posesses a Horcrux."
"How do you know?"
"It is just a theory I have been working on for the past couple of days. She is aways hinting that the Dark Lord has entrusted her with one of his greatest posessions and how she is so honoured and all that drivel. She is such a psychophant about him."
"So you think it is a Horcrux?"
"Yes and I believe that whatever it is will be in her vault and most certainly does not belong to her."
Harry replayed all of the other information in his head. "So does that mean that I can possibly do the same to Voldemort?"
Lucius was shocked. he hadn't even thought of that. "I suppose yes. That is quite brilliant. You may be able to regain posession of any and all Slytherin related Horcruxes without having to actively seek them out. And if you strip him of his Slytherin blood right then he cannot claim any right as an heir. Not that he could obviously with you being the direct heir anyway. It may be possible to stop him sooner rather than later."
"I mean technically I could do it now but I want to train some first. I do not want to be going into this fight unprepared. Who knows what he will do if he notices what we are doing before I am ready to properly face him."
"That is very tactful of you Harry. I commend your rational thinking. I think Slytherin will be a good fit for you if we get you resorted. i have sent thatr equest to the Board of Governors and should have a response soon. I also think that as you will be going away it would be best to perhaps inform the press that you are in fact well and not currently at the mercy of the Dark Lord." Harry simply nodded at this again touched by his uncle's easy praise. "Now the next folder contains your parents' and Black's wills as long as letters from them. I must go and get the rest of my things organised and ensure that the house is prepared to be shut down so nobody can come while we are away. I believe Severus will remain here if you require him to while you go through all of these things?"
"Of course Luc," he responded, "I'm not a heartless enough bastard to allow Harry to do this alone."
Lucius swept out of the room with a happy nod and Harry took a deep breath steeling all of his Gryffindor courage and pulled the folder towards him.
After about five minutes the windows were rattling again and Harry was literally trembling with rage. Severus hesitantly put his arm out and touched Harry's shoulder. He noticed that the windows stopped rattling and Harry took a deep breath not realising that he had been holding his breath.
"What is it Harry?" Severus questioned tentatively.
"Fucking Dumbledore again. He bypassed all of their wills. It says I should have gone to Sirius and failing that Remus. Sirius' will stated that I should have gone to Remus and failing that I was to be emancipated and given my rightful titles and inheritances. From what I can see with what the goblins have found Dumbledore used his pull within the Wizengamot, using my titles mind you, to get the Ministry to render the wills unacceptable and to make him my magical guardian. Plus, he knew I was a Malfoy family member technically so I could have been sent here if all else had failed."
"So he stole you away from the people that would have loved you?"
"Basically. He sent me to that fucking family that absolutely hated me. I get it though now. The more time I have had to think about it I get it."
"How do you mean?"
"He wanted them to hate me. he wanted me to grow up abused and neglected and alone so that when I entered the Wizarding World I would be poor humble Harry. Everybody knew who I was but nobody actually knew me. Then when I met Hagrid and he told me all about how evil Slytherins were and then the Weasleys happened to use the public entrance to the train that year? I am starting to think that wasn't some weird happy coincidence anymore. Surely they would ahve arrived by magical means straight to the platform? So of course then I basically latched onto Ron like a life raft and he again reaffirmed about evil snakey Slytherins which was helped by Draco's arrogance. I mean I have only spent a few days being civil with Draco and he has shown me more loyalty than Ron has in 6 years. He was always jealous of me and my so called 'fame' when he had everything that I have ever wanted."
"And that was?"
"A family. Pure and simple a family that would be there no matter what. Proper unconditional love. I would give up every piece of gold I own in order to have that."
Severus sighed, he really had misunderstood this boy - no man - in front of him. "You do realise," he drawled in that typical Severus voice, "that it may be a bit late but you have that now?"
"How do you mean?"
"I have been friends with Lucius Malfoy for over 25 years and as I am sure they have told you family is the most important thing to them. They may not love you as yet but I can tell already they care a great deal for you. And what makes it better is you have not had to hide one bit of yourself for them to do that. Plus I think Narcissa is overjoyed to have another son, unofficially of course."
"I suppose I never thought of it that way. They really have accepted me so easily. It is just starnge to me because I am always waiting on the other shoe to drop as it were."
"Trust me when I say this Harry, they will not abandon you. Once a Malfoy always a Malfoy. Besides once you get through this war I am sure you will find a nice witch to settle down with and have lots of unruly brats with."
"That is really reassueing Severus, thank you. However, I might have to skip the witch bit. They don't appeal to me, I prefer wizards!" Harry chuckled at look he got. Severus clearly was not expecting that. "I hope that is ok with you?" He asked all of a sudden feeling unsure.
"Of course," Severus recovered quickly, "it would be a smidge hypocrytical of me to hold that against you being that I myself find myself swayed away from the so called fairer sex. Plus, do not worry about your family Harry. I think that as they have openly accepted Draco for the past two years they would be remiss to shun you for the same."
Harry smiled at that. He didn't realise how much he needed to hear that until that very moment. He only imagined how Ron and Hermione would have reacted to his sexuality. He felt that they would not have been so freely accepting. With another glance at the man he couldn't get out of his head he proceeded to read the letter from his parents and Sirius taking comfort as he cried when Severus merely placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
