Standing outside of the great hall where the ball for the Triwizard tournament was being held, Harry felt as if his tie was strangling him.
It wasn't the fact that he was going to be in front of lots of people, staring at him, oh no he was used to that. It was the fact that he was going to be out in public for the first time with his boyfriend. No one knew that he was seeing Cedric Diggory not even his friends and he was worried about how they were going to react.
Not that them reacting badly was going to change him or his decision to accept Cedric's invitation to the ball and on a date on their next Hogsmeade weekend.
Tugging at his tie, Harry felt sweat beading on his brow especially when he looked towards Hermione who was staring at him with a frown when she didn't see a date beside him. Her eyes widened when Cedric batted his hands away from the tie and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
As Cedric wrapped an arm around his waist, Harry saw her smile at them and felt the tightness easing. His true friends and family would have no problems about him dating Cedric. They'd help ease the stranglehold that the rest of the Wizarding World tried to put him in.
