She managed to avoid Draco very well these last two weeks.
It was crazy how much of her day was spent planning how to avoid him. She neglected her duties, which impacted her standing with the faculty and the student body. People looked at her as damaged goods now, it seemed. Someone irrevocably changed by the fires of war.
She looked at her reflection.
Hermione hardly recognized the face staring back at her. There were heavy circles beneath her eyes, her skin looked pale and she wondered if she looked as nervous as she felt.
Tonight she would have no choice but to spend time alone with Draco Malfoy. The headmistress had made an unorthodox decision: in an effort to bridge the obvious gap between the two and erase some of the hostility, the two would be forced to spend the entire evening together. Working together of course. 'A team building exercise they caused it.'
Hermione lowered her eyelashes.
Because she knew that tonight, she would be facing off against a monster.
