“Rose wanted me to give this to you.”
“Thanks! I wonder what it is.” Scorpius said sarcastically as he took the book shaped package from Albus. “How is she?”
“She is alright. Asks about you all the time.” Albus said she he sat down on Scorpius’s bed. “Uncle Ron won’t budge about letting her come over.”
“I don’t blame him.” Scorpius said simply with a hint of sadness. It had been over a week since he nearly died on his bedroom floor. He stayed in the hospital for a few days and then returned home to the manor. Albus was with him during the day and went home at night to sleep. Scorpius felt guilty that Albus was not with his family, but mostly thankful that he was there, especially when his internal rips and tears broken open causing immeasurable pain.
Astoria and Draco had done all they could to make Albus feel comfortable during his time at the manor. It was a magnitude of hospitality beyond anything that he could have imagined. Astoria doted on him as though he was her own beloved son. Albus had even managed to have sincere conversation with Draco, although brief.
“How did your mom take the news?” Scorpius asked. The day that Scorpius left the hospital, Harry had decided it was time to let Ginny Potter in on the secret. Luckily for Albus, his father had been the one to deliver the news, allowing him to stay at Scorpius’s side.
“She was more confused than anything.” He admitted, looking away from the other boy. “It was hard for her to accept. She wanted me to marry some Griffindor and make her a bunch of grandkids. I guess I kind of killed that dream.”
“I feel like it’s my fault.” Scorpius said honestly as a pang of pain spread through his chest.
“Scor, everything can’t be your fault!” Albus said with a teasing smile. “You are fault greedy.”
“That’s not even a thing Alby!” Scorpius said laughing.
“Well I’m going to make it one.” Albus said leaning towards Scorpius. He kissed the other boy tenderly. Scorpius’s hand came up to run through the messy black hair. Albus moaned lightly at the sweet sensation.
A knock at the door caused them to break apart quickly. Astoria walked in, a tray of food in her hands. “Hello my sweethearts!” She said with a kind smile, sitting the tray between them on the bed. “Albus, you have a letter.” She handed him a small envelope.
“You are getting letters here now Alby, you should probably just move in.” Scorpius said with a laugh.
Albus smiled a little too widely as he opened the envelope and read the short letter.
Hi Al,
Lilly, James, your mother, and I will be staying at your Uncle Ron’s house tonight. I think it may be best if you stayed with the Malfoys for the night. Your uncle does not know about you and Scorpius yet. We were planning on telling him tonight.
Tell Scorpius we said hello, and be sure to thank Astoria for spoiling you.
Love,
Dad
“I’m staying here tonight?” Albus asked excitedly looking up at Astoria.
“Yes.” She replied smiling back at him. “Your father worked it out with Draco just a few hours ago.”
“Where are you going to put him for the night?” Scorpius asked quickly before thinking.
“Oh, I’m not sure yet.” Astoria replied quickly with a smile. “Scorpius, I need you to eat. I want to get you walking today.” She bent down and placed a short motherly kiss on Scorpius’s forehead and then on the top of Albus’s head. She left the room quickly, shutting the door behind her.
“Is she always like that?” Albus asked, astonished at the woman’s sweetness.
“Like what?” Scorpius asked as he filled his mouth with a large bite of pastry.
“Kind and loving?”
“Yeah.” Scorpius answered simply, handing a pastry to Albus. “She was a Hufflepuff.”
“Really?”
“Crazy right? And she ended up with my dad!”
“But it’s not even strange. They are just so-“
“Complementary?”
“Yes!” Albus nodded in agreement. “So where do you think I’m sleeping tonight?”
“In here, with me, obviously.” Scorpius answered, looking at the tray deciding what to eat next.
“How is that obvious?” Albus asked, excited by the thought of spending the night cuddled up with Scorpius.
“She said that she did not know where she was going to put you.” Seeing Albus’s confused expression he went on to clarify. “It’s my mom, she always has a plan. She only said that to not make us feel weird.”
“So you are telling me that Astoria Malfoy is the sweet mistress of intentional ambiguity.” Albus said in a strange tone.
“That is a bit intense, but yeah.”
“So are you going to get out of bed today?” Albus asked. “I want to kiss you in every room.”
“Well in that case I’m going to try right now.”
“You sure?”
“Yes.” Scorpius said with certainty. “Besides, it’s my ass, not my legs.”
Albus supported Scorpius as he got out of bed. The blonde’s legs were somewhat shaky after not being used for several days. Albus partially carried him for the first few moments, however, given the slightness of the other boy’s form, it did not take much strength.
They made it successfully into the hall and into the reading room where Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy were sitting by the fire. Astoria stood suddenly and rushed them both with warm hugs. Draco’s approach was not as dramatic, but Albus felt exceedingly happy when the man placed a hand on his shoulder, looked into his eyes, and thanked him for all he had done over the past few days.
