Malfoy Wedding; One Short Week Away:

As Christmas Eve comes closer so doesn't the wedding that has all of the Wizarding World talking. Draco Malfoy, the Death Eater son of Lucius Malfoy, will be marrying the one and only Hermione Granger, the golden girl that helped Harry Potter defeat the Dark Lord. Of course there's been a lot of conversation about why this marriage is happening, some even going as far as to say that he has cursed Hermione in to marrying him. This reporter is here to set the record straight and say that there is nothing but love between the two once enemies...

The newspaper was covered by the fabric of the bridesmaids dresses as the seamstress was busily working with Narcissa to make the wedding perfect. Hermione sat with her legs tucked up under her and watched the progress with restrained horror, she had always hoped that her mother would be there to help her with dress and the dresses of her friends. She had hoped that she and her maid of honor would join her mother at a bridal store and they would spend hours trying on a bunch of dresses, laughing and joking and discussing her future as well as the children she would have. She had hoped that there would be excitement as the day got closer but there wasn't any. In fact as it got closer she got sadder, realizing that she was alone, that she would walk down the aisle by herself and that she had no older woman to talk about the future with. Hermione muttered an excuse and exited the room before anyone could see the tears on her cheeks, crying was becoming something she did regularly now.

“Are you okay?” Lucius asked as she sat down heavily on the bench in the garden and was glaring angrily at the ground. Anger worked for her, it was better than crying at least.

“I'm fine” She whispered.

“Fine” He repeated “Always fine. You've been fine since Draco convinced you to marry him, why do I get the impression that you're lying to me?”

“Because you have a brain” Hermione answered, she turned her head to him and locked her honey colored eyes on his cool gray ones “I don't think I can do this”

“Marry Draco?” He asked with a small shrug “Then don't”

“That's not what I meant” She answered “And don't you want me to marry him?”

“I do” He answered “But I don't want to force you to do it” He looked at her for a moment “What did you mean, by the way?”

“I have no family” She sobbed in to her hands, the last thing she expected was to have him put his arm around her and pull her against his side “I have no one to walk me down the aisle, no one to give me that pre-wedding night talk, no one to talk to me about child rearing and how to raise them correctly...”

“Okay, okay, okay” Lucius whispered “I understand” He was silent for several seconds “First off...who do you trust and love like a father or brother?”

“Harry” She answered.

“Then ask him to walk you down the aisle” He answered “I thought you and Draco had already...err...”

“We have” Hermione said and then her face turned crimson as she realized that she was talking about her sex life with her fiancee's father and Lucius Malfoy of all people “It's just...”

“Its just what mothers and daughters do” Lucius answered for her then sighed “As for the whole advice on rearing children and raising them...you just kind of do it and pray to Merlin you don't royally screw it up”

“But I'm alone here and...” Hermione couldn't find the right words to express what she was feeling but she had the feeling that Lucius knew what she was getting at. Which he confirmed with a simple.

“I know”

Severus turned on to his right side and then let out a loud and irritated sigh. He hated not being able to sleep but his lack of being able to see Luna in the infirmary was damn near killing him, he was now understanding what it meant to be a 'mate' to a Fair One as he could literally feel her presence within his very blood now. It was killing him. He had gone to Grimmauld Place when he realized that Luna was in trouble and lost and Potter gave him the map he used to break rules while a student. He found that he'd run past her on his way to the infirmary and though Potter offered to come with him to the school Severus shook his head and left the house and entering the infirmary again. He ran through the corridors to get to her alcove, each corridor seemed longer than the last, he stopped being able to hear anything around him and instead could only hear his heart pounding frantically in his chest and his feet pounding the stone. The pool of blood that was on the ground under where Luna laid was huge and she was so ashy colored, her eyes were closed and if it weren't for her lips moving every once in a while he'd have thought that he was too late. He immediately tapped the torn skin and it started to stitch itself together, he forced a blood replenishing potion down her throat and then picked up her tiny form and rushed her to Madame Pomphrey. He stayed with her for as long as the older woman allowed but then she rushed him out and the next day Luna had been moved to Saint Mungo's hospital and in to a private room where she told them she didn't want to see anyone for a while.

“Severus” His name was said in a soft, womanly whisper and when he lifted his head he found Lily Evans standing there. Her long red mane was pulled over one shoulder, her emerald eyes were lined with black charcoal, her lips were red and she was wearing a simple but elegant black dress “Look at you...how I have missed you”

“No” Severus said and Lily reeled back a little “You're not real”

“But Severus” She smiled at him “I am...I'm here for you and only you. That's what you want isn't it, just me and you forever nobody else coming between us”

“You're dead” Severus told her “Get away from me” He watched as she faded slightly and then whisked from the room like a blurry shadow. He laid his head back down and relaxed in to the pillows for a moment before a feminine arm was flung over his waist and he turned to see Luna laying next to him, Severus raised his head and looked at her “Luna...”

“I was released just an hour ago” She whispered to him “I climbed in to bed when you were talking to the wall over there” She pointed to the empty space where Lily had been standing.

“I'm sorry” Severus whispered as he moved in to her arms “I shouldn't have...”

“Shh” Luna whispered running her hands through his black hair and lifted his head to kiss him “I know that you didn't mean it...” She kissed him again and moved over him so she was straddling his hips which caught him off guard a little “Say that you love me” Luna whispered to him, he looked at her confused because she'd never demanded that before “Say that you want to be with me...forever”

“I want to be...” Severus started but he couldn't say it, he loved her and he knew it but she was acting strange.

“Say it” Luna urged angrily. His eyes focused on her and he realized that it wasn't Luna he was seeing, but a little Fairy of a girl with a pink pixie cut and matching eyes that were watching him angrily.

“Get off of me” He pushed her away and she morphed back in to herself with a mean sneer “Why are you doing this?”

“You harmed a Fair One that you are married to” She said angrily “And we will make you pay”

Hermione was reading out on her deck when she heard a bunch of noise coming from within the manor home. That was unusual as the house was normally as quiet as a church, she put her book down and made her way slowly through her bedroom. She opened the door and walked in to the hallway finding Draco doing the same from his own bedroom. He reached out and took her hand, keeping her slightly behind him so as to protect her from any unseen assailant. They got the top of the stairs, where they could see in to the front hallway where the door was and Hermione put her hand over her mouth to hold in her gasp. Molly and Arthur Weasley stood there shaking hands (a little uncomfortably) with Lucius and then Narcissa. Next was Bill and Fluer, followed by Harry and Gabrielle, then Ron and Lavender, Ginny and Blaise (who she generally didn't like very much) the twins and their wives were next. They all stood there conversing with each other while Lucius motioned for Hermione, who he'd spotted at the top of the stairs, to come down.

“Everyone” Lucius called out to everyone and one by one they all quieted down and looked at him and Hermione “The other day my soon-to-be Daughter-in-law shared some of her insecurities with me” He looked around the room “And they broke my heart” He muttered to her and she nodded, tears filling her eyes as she realized what he had done “She told me that she has no family to be with her on her wedding day. No mother to talk about the wedding night with, no father to walk her down the aisle and no one to talk about kids with. I wanted to help but know not how to, I considered trying to find a way to break the memory charm but if there was a way I know this bright young woman would have already found it” She nodded with a small sob “So I took another course of action and decided that she did have family and they should be here for the days leading up to her wedding...so that's why you have all been invited here”

Hugs were given to everyone, including the uncomfortable Malfoy's, and then everyone paired off to find their rooms or talk with people they hadn't seen in a while. Arthur motioned for Hermione to follow him in to another room, she walked behind him to an enclosed sun room and sat down in a rocking chair that she loved. The red haired man sat down across from her and shook his head at her with a small smile.

“I remember when I first met you” He said “With your wild hair and snotty attitude, I could see why Ron always seemed a little terrified of you. You are more like Molly than I think you will ever know and I prayed many times that I would be welcoming you in to my family instead of watching you marry someone else”

“I'm sorry” Hermione whispered, lowering her eyes to her hands.

“Don't be” He said and she looked back at him “Any father would be proud to see their little girl marry someone they love. I know that I am not your father by blood but I love you like a daughter none the less” Hermione closed her eyes and began sobbing, he moved closer and pulled her in to his arms hugging her tightly.

“I'm really emotional recently” Hermione announced “I'm sorry”

“In your second year” Arthur told her “Your father asked me to protect you, to make sure that you were happy and to make sure that you had everything that you needed while in the magical world because while you were in this world he was unable to” She lowered her head and fought to keep her tears at bay “I kept his promise all eight years you were in Hogwarts and I'm not stopping now. If you're okay with it, I would like to walk you down aisle at your wedding”

“I would like that” She whispered and then flung herself in to his arms “I would like that a lot”

It was another few days before a letter came to everyone, Luna included, that told them they had all been accepted to the new group mission. Severus, though never one to admit to being scared about anything, was relieved for once that something would pull him away from the magical world for a while. He'd had to put up with fairies of all shapes, sizes and gender showing up in his bedroom, bathroom, classroom, office and private suits harassing him or trying to flat out kill him. He wanted to tell Luna, knowing that she'd be able to stop it if she wanted to, but stressing her out was not a good idea. So he picked up the letter and read it with an excited thrill that went through his whole being as he read what he would be doing.

Dear Group (Severus and Luna Snape, Harry and Gabrielle Potter and Draco and Hermione Malfoy)

I am very happy that you have all chosen to become united to make this mission group. You're to meet at conference room 12 at the Ministry on January tenth for the debriefing on your first location. You will all receive files of information about the area you are going to, I have moved the original time back with the injury of Mrs. Snape and the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy with their honeymoon as well. I can't wait to see you all after the Christmas holidays and good luck with your loved ones.

Next mission is: Atlantis.

Mr. Norrington.

Everyone's reactions were the same. Staring at the paper before hooting and hollering with excitement, Atlantis was just as big a mystery to the magical world as it was the muggle one. None of them could believe that it would be them that would find it, discover all its magics and magical beings and then...Merlin only knew what their next mission would be.

A/N: I hope you liked this story and I hope that you'll read the sequel. I'm not sure what it'll be called but I hope you like it when I do post it.
