Neville opened his eyes to see Madame Pomphrey hovering over him, pressing a cool rag against his face. "What happened?" he asked her, feeling like he had been hit by a ton of bricks. Then it came back to him, he was pregnant!. He was pregnant with Barty's baby!. A feeling of pure joy raced through him, knowing that he was carrying the child of the man he loved.Along with it came the reality of the situation. He was carrying the child of the man who tortured his parents into insanity. Then Hermione came to mind, he groaned, realizing the shear insanity of the situation. Hermione was pregnant by him, and he was pregnant by Barty!. He breifly wondered how the situation got so out of control. He wondered how he was going to deal with the situation. He couldn't just abandon Hermione, he was not that type of person.Nor could he get rid of this baby, who come to mean the world to him, in such a short period of time. How was he going to tell Hermione?, he asked himself. Knowing Hermione, she was likely going to put on a brave front, hiding her pain. Would she resent the child, he asked himself. Feeling guilty that he thought about Hermione in that way. Then there was Barty."Barty," Neville groaned aloud. There was the question of should he tell him about the baby. He knew that if Barty found out about the baby. He would never leave Neville or his child alone. Making a bad situation even worse then it was. "Madame Pomphrey, how is this even possible," asked Neville, spotting the nurse. "I know that male pregnancy is rare..." "Rare," Neville said shocked. "I didn't even know that it was possible." "Only a select few of male wizards can actually get pregnant," Poppy told him. " I just had to be in this select few," Neville groaned. Madame Pomphrey gave him a look of symapthy. "Your not the only one dear," she said trying to console him, but not doing a very good Job." Anyways," Continued Madame Pomphrey."Only pureblood wizards can get pregnant..." "What about half-bloods," asked Neville. "Half-bloods can't get pregnant, reason being is because their blood is mixed with muggle, which is not magical.." "So your saying that all this, is because of magic," Neville asked. "I am afraid so dear," Madame Pomphrey said. "How does the wizarding world view male pregnancy," Neville asked, almost ashamed to admit how little he knew on the topic. Madame Pomphrey was not eager to tell the boy about wizarding society views on this issue, but he needed to know. " Neville, wizards and Witches do not take to kindly to this issue.It is seen as unatural to most witches and Wizards. Mostly because there is still the sexist attitude that only witches should be only people have the babies." "Witches on their part also resent this as well. They seemed to feel that only they should have babies, not men. Its like a privelage to us, knowing that only we can have babies. So when a male gets pregnant, it is seen as if someone is walking in on our territory.." Neville turned pale,"O great, now I am going to be seen as even a bigger out cast then I already am," he said in despair. "Longbottom the situation may seem bad now, but remember you do have choices, you could get rid.." "No, never," Neville said holding his stomach protectively. "What about your gran, if you don't have anyone else, you will always have your family," Poppy said, trying to get Neville to see the brighter side of things. Neville was scared, he did not know how gran would take the situation. She was okay when he told her about him and Hermione, but this whole new situation might be to much. "How about the father," Madame Pomphrey asked. Neville could feel tears sting his eyes. There was no possible way Barty would ever be a constant in this babys life. He was a death eater, on the run. Plus no one would accept him of the baby, if they find out it belong to Barty. He and the baby would probably be more of an outcast then they already were. "The father is not going to be a part of the babies life," Neville finally told her, painfully. Madame Pomphrey looked at Neville sadly."Maybe you should go talk with Professor Dumbledore," Poppy advised him. Thinking that maybe Neville would feel more comfortable with a male perspective. "Can I just go back to my dormitory now," Neville asked, not wanting to talk to anyone about this. Madame Pomphrey sighed, feeling sorry for Longbottom. "Yes, she said, but I want to see you back here first thing.." Neville nodded, then hesitated. "Madame Pomphrey are you going to tell anyone," he asked. "No Neville," she reassured him."Its not my place to tell anyone about your situation, but I do advise you to go to someone who can help you..." Neville gave her a weak smile and left the room. Tears ran down his face, who could he tell? Who would understand what he was going through. Then he stopped for a moment and turned around heading for the dungeons.
