Malfoy led her down the corridors and hallways of the Manor. She kept her head down. Was he going to kill her now? He surely had no more use for her. He had taken what he wanted.

They turned into the Portrait room, a row of magical candles came alight with their presence. Malfoy walked towards the portrait of Narcissa gazing at her with sad eyes. Anna stood awkwardly behind him.

‘You remind me of her.' Malfoy said quietly. Anna looked up at the portrait in confusion. She looked nothing like Narcissa Malfoy.

‘Not in looks, not even in personality. Just something about you…reminds me.’ He said, Anna couldn’t see his face, but it sounded like he was crying.

‘LET. HER. GO. NOW.' Claire shouted again. Malfoy looked around at Anna, who was staring at Claire in disbelief.

‘Now, now. This is not how young witches ought to behave themselves.’ Malfoy smiled.

'I’m getting Anna out of here. We’re leaving.’ She stated.

Malfoy snorted. ‘No one will be leaving, you are the property of the Malfoy family. Draco?’ He looked questioningly at his son.

‘Father, I am leaving with Claire. I’m in love with her.’ Draco said, sounding a little frightened.

‘Don’t be ridiculous Draco, she’s muggle-born.’ Malfoy sneered.

‘I don’t care father. Now please, let the other one go.’ He replied.

Claire glanced at Anna, her wand still trained on Malfoy. ‘Anna, get up now.’ She said. Anna rose to her feet shakily.

‘STAY WHERE YOU ARE.' Malfoy screamed. He threw a binding spell at Claire, who deflected it easily.

‘Father please no!’ cried Draco.

‘You are surprisingly skilled’ said Malfoy. Draco nodded. ‘She learns faster than anyone I have ever seen.’

Malfoy smiled. ‘Oh Claire, I knew there was something special about you at the market, that’s why I wanted you for Draco. If anyone knew you were a Muggle-born witch you would never have been in that terrible place. We could help you, get you a job and join society properly. You are obviously a very talented witch.'

‘Let Anna go, we’re leaving. I’ll kill you if you try to stop us. I can do it. Draco taught me the killing curse.' Said Claire. Her gaze murderous.

Malfoy shot Draco an angry look. ‘Claire, I assure you that you would be dead before you uttered the first syllable.’

Draco moved slightly in front of Claire pointing his wand at his father. ‘No father, I won’t let you hurt her. Just let the muggle go!’

Malfoy started to throw curses at Claire which she and Draco deflected together. Draco pushed Claire behind him to protect her.

‘Draco, no!’ Claire tried to shove him out of the way and Malfoy took his chance. ‘Sectumsempra!’ he cried, both Draco and Claire cast a rebounding spell to protect each other and the spell ricocheted back at Malfoy.

None of them had noticed Anna standing behind Malfoy, nor had they noticed her pushing Malfoy aside. They did see the spell hit her.

Anna didn’t feel the pain, she just felt herself lift off the ground and fall onto her back with a thud. She thought the spell had simply knocked the air out of her, but when she tried to take a breath she couldn’t seem to breathe in properly. She coughed and something wet and sticky filled her mouth. She brought her hand up to her face and saw it was covered in blood. She realized it was her own blood, gushing from a deep wound in her wrist.

Then the pain started. She felt the deep slices in her flesh, she felt the blood seeping out of her. She sobbed and coughed again. She could finally hear Claire screaming and looked sideways to see Draco desperately trying to pull her out of the room. She was screaming Anna’s name. Anna tried to get up but her head swam. She reached her hand towards Claire and moaned.

‘Father, do something!’ Cried Draco, pulling Claire away from the room. Malfoy simply stared down at Anna.

‘I’m afraid I don’t know the counter-curse.’ He said, his voice like silk. ‘Draco, I will give you ten minutes to get out of this house. After that I will inform The Dark Lord.’

Draco gave him a terrified look and pulled Claire by the arm. ‘It’s no use Claire, she’s as good as dead.’ Claire screamed ‘Anna!’ one more time before Draco hit her with a body bind spell, lifted her up and ran from the room.

Anna’s vision was fading by this point so she could only see Malfoy’s outline as he knelt in the pool of blood rapidly expanding around her tattered body. She reached out her pale, blood covered hand to his chest. The other grasped the chain around her neck.

The pain was fading, and Anna's head swam hazily, she felt almost drunk.

‘Master’ she croaked, Malfoy gently lifted her head on to his lap and stroked her face with his hand. She smiled up at her Master for the last time. He bent down and kissed her delicately.

Anna closed her eyes and drifted into blackness.
