It was Friday, March 8th. A day Harry was excited about for two reasons. One, he was closer to the day he would be going on a date with Draco. The man had written to him about a week ago inviting him out tomorrow, which he, of course accepted. Draco refused to divulge where they were going but Harry trusted him. He knew that wherever they went, it would be perfect. If only because he would be with Draco. The other thing was that he knew through Draco that it was the day of Ginevra’s first visitation with Lily. He couldn’t wait to find out how that went. Draco had promised him he would tell him all about it later. He knew that Ginevra was going to be in for a surprise. There was no worry about Lily because Draco had explained that Nott wasn’t using her. He had even confronted the man himself and had unknowingly earned the respect of all three Slytherins, due to him making sure she was all right despite everything. Lily may not have liked him all that much but he would ensure no harm came to her.
A chime sounded throughout the house and he smiled as he unlocked the floo and his best friends stepped out. They had scheduled a lunch at his house since it had been awhile since they had a real conversation.
“Hiya Harry.” Ron said greeting him with a tight hug, followed by a tighter hug from his wife.
“Hey guys.” Harry returned the greeting warmly before the three walked into the kitchen. He removed the stasis charm from the dishes on the table and the delicious smells invaded their noses. He moved to the cold cupboard to get the juice then turned back to the table.
“Blimey Harry, I missed your cooking!” Ron exclaimed, mouth full of shepherd’s pie. Harry blinked. When had he sat down and dished out his food?
“I don’t know why you still seem surprised.” Hermione muttered with a small smile and sat next to her husband, taking a plate, and getting food herself. Harry followed a moment after with a fond shake of his head.
The trio sat at the table and ate and talked about inane things, leaving the serious conversation till after they’d eaten.
All too soon to Harry, the three of them were sitting in his study drinking cups of tea.
“So…how have you been Harry?” Ron asked, eager to get things going.
“Honestly, I’m doing okay. Better than I expected.” He replied with a small smile.
“How so? If you don’t mind my asking.” Hermione asked curiously.
“I don’t Mione. Despite all the craziness going on things seem to be looking up. My relationship with James has improved in ways I’ve never imagined. We understand each other. His relationship with Albus has improved as well. Instead of letters about bullying, I’m getting letters of all the adventures they’re having together.” He told them, his smile widening. Talking about it was really opening his eyes to the various changes in his life now. All of them good.
“That’s great Harry. We’ve been getting letters from Rose as well about the boys. It seems this whole thing was needed for James to be himself.” Hermione added.
“My thoughts exactly.” He agreed.
“And if the prophet is to be believed, Lily is really enjoying herself with Nott. He seems to care about her.” Ron added with a contemplative look.
“Yeah, she is. He really does love her. Draco assured me, and I spoke to Nott myself. Lily might not be my biological daughter, and we may not get along, but I wouldn’t let anyone mistreat her.”
“We know you wouldn’t. You’re really one of a kind Harry.” Hermione muttered giving him a small squeeze on his knee. “So, how is Malfoy going?”
“Oh, he’s fine.” He replied quickly, fighting to keep the blush that he knew was already creeping up his neck. Every. Bloody. Time. He knew Hermione asked that to catch him off guard.
“Why are you blushing mate?” Ron asked with a confused frown. Hermione just watched him with a raised eyebrow and a knowing smile.
“I’m not!” He said quickly but knew it didn’t make a difference because he could feel the heat on his face.
“Harry, your face is red as a tomato. It started when Mione mentioned Mal…wait a minute…” Ron said before trailing off.
Harry’s eyes were trained on the tea in his hands but he could feel Ron staring at him and he could just picture his mouth hanging open. He supposed now would be a good time as any to tell his friends about Draco. He wasn’t sure what exactly to tell them though. Were he and Draco even in a relationship? They kissed but it was never really confirmed. He frowned. Deep down he knew Draco wouldn’t use him but the traitorous thoughts kept popping up in his head. Would Draco want to hide them even if they confirmed the relationship? Would Harry be his dirty little secret? The questions scared him but he knew without a doubt that he would not stay in a relationship like that. He really needed to talk to Draco. At least to see where they were headed in terms of being together. Maybe…
“Harry!” A shout startled him out of his thoughts. He blinked as the room came into focus and he realized his shirt sticking to him due to his spilled tea. He had really gone into his mind there!
“Mate, you okay?” Ron asked him, his worried face appearing in his line of vision.
“Yeah, sorry. I just got lost in my thoughts.” He murmured apologetically before waving his hand and cleaning himself up. Ron gave him one last look before returning to his seat opposite him. “What were we talking about again?” Harry asked sheepishly.
“You and Malfoy.” Ron said, eyeing him.
Well he had gotten over his worry quickly. While Harry wanted his friends to be okay with everything, he wasn’t counting on it. However, while he loved them, it was his life and he had suffered enough. He was done giving up his happiness for others.
“Yes, well Draco and I have grown closer since this whole fiasco started.” He simply said.
“Closer how? “Ron asked, not unkindly, which was the reason Harry replied.
“Closer as in we spend a lot of time together. We enjoy each other’s company.” He responded, staring directly at Ron. Although he didn’t say anything outright, he knew they both understood.
“Don’t be mad, but I just have to know. All this, was after the divorce, right?” Ron inquired. The anger did come but he stamped it down. It was a legit question after all and he’d be lying to himself if he said he wasn’t expecting it.
“Yes Ron. I said it at the divorce trial. I would never have done anything to jeopardize my marriage or my children. Things only started moving with Draco after the divorce was finalized.” He stated clearly.
“It was kind of quick Harry. Although, I must say, I’m not surprised.” Hermione added aiming a small smile at him. He returned it. She always furthered his thought that she was one of the few people who really knew him.
“So, are you gay?” Ron asked, his face reddening at his blunt question. Harry snorted. Ron may have matured some but his lack of tact was still there. Good thing he was used to it by now.
“I’m bisexual, I think I always have been but I was never able to explore it.”
“That’s normal. You did get with Ginny immediately after the war and the both of you have been together ever since.” Hermione reasoned and Harry nodded, glad she understood.
“Why Malfoy though Harry? Or do you think, it would’ve been someone else if he wasn’t around?” Ron asked him curiously and Harry really had to think about it.
“I think, it could’ve been anyone but I know that if Draco had come along, it would’ve been him. It has always been Draco. Before the divorce, I had a series of flashbacks, all the way from sixth year. Me following him, admiring him from afar. The absolute fear I felt for him in the Room of Requirement. The feelings have always been there. They were just shoved aside by my desire to have ‘the perfect family’.” He said, looking at his friends. Hermione’s eyes were slightly wet with unshed tears but she still had that smile on her face. Ron was looking at him with a contemplative look on his face and a slight frown. “I’m not asking you to accept anything Ron.” Harry addressed his friend. “But, I’m not giving this up. If it turns into something bigger, I’m all for it. I’m happy. Draco makes me happy and after all the bullshit I’ve been through, I bloody well deserve to be happy.” He finished, head tilted in defiance.
“Okay Harry.” Ron said with a sigh. “I’m not happy but it’s your life. You should live how you see fit. And I hate to admit it but you do seem happier with the ferret. Just know, if he hurts you in any way, I will destroy him.” He told him seriously and Harry just nodded with a huge smile, glad that Ron was at least going to try.
The trio talked for a bit more and planned to meet up often before the couple left. Harry stayed in his study and thought about their conversation. It went better than he expected and he was glad. Now, he just had to decide when he would speak to Draco.
Draco was nervous. He couldn’t really put a finger on why but he was. He felt like today was extremely important and life changing. In a way, it was. Today was the first date after everything, the divorce, and their budding friendship? Relationship? It bothered him slightly that he couldn’t confirm the difference but he resolved that he would not let it affect the evening. He would not let any of these heavy feelings affect the perfect date with Harry. With a quick glance at his watch, he realized that it was almost time to leave. Since Harry had no idea where they were going, Draco had to collect him at the Hollow, then he would apparate them to the location. He checked himself one last time in the mirror and smiled. He looked damn good! The restaurant wasn’t extremely fancy so he went for elegantly casual. A grey cashmere turtleneck with vertical silver lines and a pair of charcoal slacks. His black leather shoes completed the look. His hair lay flat, a bit falling onto his forehead with a slight curl. He specifically loved the way his eyes shone and every time he shifted, they seemed to glint with the silver lines on his sweater. He knew Harry was going to love it. The chime of the grandfather clock indicated it was time to go. He quickly walked to his study and went straight to the fireplace. He threw the green powder into the flames, whispered the password and was off.
As soon as Draco stepped out the fireplace, he was greeted with a stunning sight. Harry was standing a few feet away looking like a vision. A green long-sleeved shirt, coupled with black slacks and his black dragonhide boots. He was gorgeous but what drew Draco to him more was those eyes. They were shining with what he could clearly see was excitement and…love. Without thinking, he walked up to the other man, took his face in his hands, and kissed him for all he was worth. As with every other time he had devoured those lips, it felt like heaven and he was utterly lost in it. It didn’t help that Harry had completely melted into the kiss and Draco was sure he was the only thing holding him up. They would have continued if the sound of a throat clearing didn’t make them spring apart like they had been burnt. His eyes swiveled to the direction of the sound and was surprised to see Granger standing there with a smile on her face. Years of training made it easy for him to hide his blush but poor Harry couldn’t. His entire face was red and judging by the color of his neck, Draco was sure it was a full body flush…hmmm….
“Granger.” He said, inclining his head politely.
“Granger-Weasley. Hello to you too Malfoy.” She replied primly before walking over to Harry.
He just watched as she straightened his clothes and attempted to flatten the wayward hair. He couldn’t help but notice that the smile never left her face and if possible, Harry was getting redder. It was obvious that she had known about them. He wondered if Weasley knew? Most likely, but he would still ask Harry about it.
“Okay, you’re good. Be safe and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!” She told Harry with a wink and a smile which he returned before she turned to him. Draco inwardly marveled at the immediate change in her facial expression and demeanor. “Hurt him Malfoy and castration would be the least of your worries.” She said seriously before waving at Harry and flooing out. Draco would never admit it but that woman scared him. That punch in third year was still present in his mind. Imagine the spells she could do!
“Dray?” Harry’s soft voice broke through his thoughts. He considered those green eyes and smiled. He had nothing to worry about, he would never hurt Harry thus he wouldn’t have to endure Granger’s wrath. It would be fine.
“I’m fine Harry.” He muttered to his date. He then took his hand and they walked outside before apparating to the destination.
Draco smiled at Harry’s small gasp when they arrived at their destination. They were standing opposite the restaurant. Le Cirque du Magic was a beautiful place. It was shaped like a circus tent. The outside had the name of the restaurant in colorful, flashing, neon lights - magicked of course. It had a way of looking great without looking tacky. He slipped his hand into Harry’s and they crossed the street to the private entrance. When they entered, Harry gasped again. They didn’t have to worry about being seen because the private entrance led to a private room. From the inside, they could still see the rest of the restaurant but not vice versa. It allowed diners to still experience the ambience and uniqueness of the restaurant while also having privacy. Inside, there were several tables, all filled with people eating. The waitresses were dressed in glittering outfits and going between tables on rollerblades. On the ceiling, trapeze artists were twirling with their colorful ribbons. Despite its appearance, Le Cirque du Magic was not an easy place to reserve. One had to be very well known to get in on short notice. He guided Harry to a plush cushion at the small table and sat opposite him.
“This place is amazing Dray!” Harry exclaimed, his green eyes round as he took in everything.
“I’m glad you like it Harry. When I thought of the date, this was the first place that came to mind.” He said smiling and it grew when Harry turned to him and smiled. He loved being right.
Pretty soon, their server came in and they ordered their food. They both watched the different acts going on in the restaurant as they waited. Occasionally, Draco would glance at Harry and his heart would beat faster when his face light up in excitement and wonder. His raven was so perfect and beautiful and he was so grateful for the opportunity to spend time with him. Their waitress soon returned with their food and they tucked in. They talked about normal things as they ate. The boys, their lives. It was simple, yet comfortable.
About two hours later, they had finished their meal and dessert. Draco quickly paid their bill before they walked out of the restaurant and into the cool night air.
“I forgot to ask earlier Draco, where are we exactly?” Harry asked as they crossed the street to the apparition point.
“This is Mayhem Square. It’s a small wizarding town in Britain. It only sprang up a few years after the war. It’s not well known because most people tend to focus on Diagon Alley.”
“Are there other towns like this? Around Britain?”
“Yes. Lots, but they are smaller, however. Maybe one day we can visit them?”
“I’d like that.” Harry answered. Draco gave him a quick kiss on his lips before apparating them to the second part of the date.
When they arrived, Harry couldn’t contain his loud gasp. Draco couldn’t blame him. The Malfoy gardens were beautiful generally, but at night, it was a remarkable sight. Fairies dotted the bushes and fluttered from flower to flower. Their golden wings lighting up the pathways. Flowers of varying colors have an otherworldly glow as they were bathed in the moonlight.
“Dra-Draco. This is beautiful.” Harry muttered in awe.
“It is. Mother worked very hard on it.” He replied proudly.
“She did this herself?”
“All of it. From the first day, she moved to Malfoy Manor. Lucius couldn’t stop her no matter how hard he tried so he just left her to it.” He explained as they walked along the path. “I’ve always loved it here. Mainly because Lucius hated it so much that he never ventured here. It became a place for me to escape. I suspect for mother as well. Whenever, I had to clear my head, I would sit on the bench and listen to the fairies. For some reason, their chatter soothed me instead of agitating me.” He added and it pleased him that Harry was listening so attentively. It felt good sharing part of himself with the man beside him.
“I could understand that. It must have been nice to get away from everything.”
“Indeed, it was.” Was his response and they continued to walk in silence, hand in hand, extremely comfortable.
Eventually, they came up to a bench overlooking the pond and sat to rest. Harry immediately laid his head on his shoulder. Draco’s fingers automatically rose to card his fingers through the thick mass of black curls.
“Dray?”
“Hmm?”
“What are we?” was the simple question but Draco knew what it meant. His hands stopped briefly before returning to their task.
“That depends on you Harry. Whatever this is, I want it to go at your pace.” He responded. He frowned slightly when Harry shook his hand off and sat up to stare at him.
“What do you want? What do you see us as?”
“What I want Harry, is for us to be together. I have feelings for you, there’s no doubt about it.” He wanted to add more but he wasn’t sure Harry was ready for that yet.
“I want that to Draco. I keep telling myself that I should have this, that I deserve this happiness but I know I’m still afraid of what people will think.”
“You told Granger and Weasley?”
“Yes, and they understood. I mean Ron was skeptical at first but eventually calmed down after I explained everything. I’m worried about mum and dad.” He confided and Draco understood. They were the people Harry considered family, who stood by him through everything.
“I understand Harry. I think that we could say we are in a relationship but only to those we truly care about. I also don’t think the Weasleys will abandon you. They may be skeptical but I think, once you explain, their misconceptions would be cleared up, just like with Weasley.” He suggested. He waited patiently as Harry thought about what he said.
“You’re right. I’ll give it a chance and talk to them. And we can tell the boys when they return for Easter break.” He finally said with a small smile and Draco was relieved.
“That’s a good idea. So, Harry, will you be my boyfriend?” he watched with a smirk as Harry sputtered then laughed.
“Boyfriend sounds weird. We’re nearly forty for Merlin’s sake. I prefer the term partners or…or…. lovers.” He replied with a blush and Draco couldn’t help the chuckle that came out. His raven was so bloody adorable. He pulled the other man closer and captured his lips.
The kiss soon became heated and Harry had somehow ended up on his lap. Draco didn’t even bother to question it. He trailed kisses down the smooth neck and couldn’t stop the groans that escaped when Harry writhed and moaned atop him. He wanted to push up and feel that delicious friction but he didn’t want the date to end with a quick fumble in the garden.
“Harry.” He murmured huskily and swallowed hard when Harry shuddered at the sound. “Harry.” He tried again, grasping the other man’s face so they were staring at each other. He gasped softly, seeing that Harry’s eyes were almost completely dilated with want. “Do you want to go to my room?”
“Yes.” Harry breathed without hesitation and Draco was tempted to retract his previous thought and take the other man right there.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Draco. Yes.” Harry practically pleaded and Draco didn’t think twice before apparating them to his rooms.
They landed directly in the middle of the bedroom. The large four poster bed dominating it. It seemed the apparition had cleared their heads a bit because they both just stood there holding on to each other and staring. Until, surprisingly, Harry made the first move, tilting his head up and pulling Draco’s down to meet his own. Then he kissed him. The kiss was slow and Draco loved it. He knew they weren’t going to have sex tonight. Their bodies wanted it. He wanted it but he knew it was too soon for Harry. However, he still wanted to give the other man pleasure, to show him what it’s supposed to be like. He broke the kiss and took Harry’s face in his hands, again to steady him. He waited till Harry’s eyes focused before talking to him.
“Harry, I know you’re not ready to go all the way but I would like to show you something tonight if you would let me?” He asked. His voice shook a little with nerves but he needn’t have worried as Harry smiled and nodded shyly.
Draco smiled softly before taking his hand and leading him to the bed. He watched as Harry lay there, looking perfect before he joined him. He laid next to him and reached over to capture those lips again. Harry was trembling and he knew it was a mixture of nerves and excitement and he was truly pleased that Harry trusted him so much.
He kissed him again before trailing kisses to his neck, where he knew Harry was sensitive. He reveled in the moans that caused. His hands followed his lips and they stopped at the first button of the green shirt. Draco glanced into Harry’s eyes and only moved forward when he received a nod of encouragement. He used the little bit of wandless magic he knew and released the buttons as his fingers touched them, wasting no time in taking off the shirt. He took a moment to marvel at the body before him. Harry’s body was beautiful and he wasn’t even seeing all of it. Scars littered his chest and abdomen, their paleness, a stark contrast against the tan skin. Draco thought it was a work of art. His fingers trailed each scar, followed by his lips. His ears were filled with little moans and gasps as Harry writhed next to him. It was like his body couldn’t handle the onslaught of pleasure. Draco wanted more. His hands trailed down to the top of Harry’s pants and again he stopped and glanced up for permission. He needn’t have done that because with a quick wave of his hand, Harry vanished his pants, leaving him in just his boxers, which had an obvious tent. Draco raised his eyebrow and smiled as he finally saw Harry’s full body blush. Slowly, his hand dipped into the boxers. Despite his calm exterior, Draco was going crazy on the inside. His heart was beating a mile a minute. His hand gripped the long, hard cock and he wasn’t sure whose groan was louder. He easily pulled it out of its confines and just took a second to admire it. He’d seen it many times in his dreams but Merlin, it was much better in person. His tongue itched to taste it but there would be time for that. A soft whine from Harry brought him out of his perusal.
“Impatient, are we?” He asked softly before working his hand up and down the length. He sat up and used one to stroke while the other held down Harry’s hips.
He took his time, using the copious amounts of precum as lubrication. Working up and down, delighting in his Harry’s moans of pleasure. He knew it wouldn’t be long so he sped up his movements, feeling Harry’s legs clenching as he fought to thrust up into his hand. When he found the movements becoming more frantic, he released the hips and pumped. Harry’s moans became louder and Draco could hear him practically chanting his name. He waited till he was almost at his peak before twisting his hand on the upward stroke, just so , and was rewarded with the most beautiful sight he’d ever seen. Harry keened, his hips shot up off the bed and ropes of cum shot out of his cock. His body shook with the impact of the orgasm. Draco’s eyes widened as a sudden burst of pleasure shot through him. Then his eyes clenched, his body stiffened and with a surprised shout, he was cumming. His mind went blank as his body shook with each wave of pleasure. It seemed never-ending. He was shocked when he finally came to. He had never, ever came untouched before. He figured he shouldn’t have been surprised; this was Harry, not anyone else. This was something he’d imagined since he was a teen. He felt Harry’s cock soften in his hand and it was only when Draco looked up, he realized the other man had blacked out. He couldn’t believe it. From a hand job?! What the fuck had the bitch been doing all these years? With a small shake of his head, he grabbed his wand and cleaned them both before reluctantly tucking the beautiful cock back in the boxers. He stripped down to his boxers and sidled up next to his…lover. He spooned him, pulling the covers up over them both and extinguishing the lights.
It had been a great night, with a perfect ending. He couldn’t wait for more times like these to happen. Soon. It would be soon.
