Checking into their separate but connected rooms let both of the Hogwarts students put down their trunks before the headed into Diagon Alley.
Waiting for Hermione in the diner downstairs from their rooms Draco sat casually at the bar. Feeling stares from the barkeep Draco looked up from the toothpick he was fiddling with to stare directly into the eyes of main perpetrator.Tom the Leaky Cauldron’s main barman quickly averted his gaze when his eyes clashed with the infamous white-haired wizard. The boy’s eyes were like cold silver as they silently told him to back off. Walking to the other end of the bar Tom obliged the young Malfoy’s silent demands.Feeling a soft touch on his arm Draco tore his angry gaze away from the annoying barman and turned to source of the touch. Standing beside his chair was Hermione, smiling as she waited for him to get up so they could go shopping.Smirking Draco smoothly stepped off from his stool and stood by her side, the Gryffindor was oblivious to the stares around the room as she started talking about their supply list. But Draco felt the curious stares laced with a myriad of different emotions. Shock was the most obvious perception besides disapproval and worry, the sight of two notorious enemies standing together smiling and talking was something to behold.Hell Draco could read the people’s thoughts as they both walked to the entrance to Diagon Alley. What were they doing together? Is Hermione under some sort of controlling spell? Draco would bet all the money in his pocket that the moment they stepped up to Tom and asked for connected rooms, he ran to tell everyone willing to listen.Whatever, he was used to it, but doubted Hermione was used to these sorts of stares. Looking down at his side Draco double-checked to see if the petite Gryffindor finally noticed that they had turned into a spectacle. Not so subtle whispers floated around them as they walked down Diagon Alley. Draco smirked at the discovery. She didn’t notice a damn thing. As usual the Gryffindor Princess was ignorant when it came to others’ emotions, moods, or attitudes.“I think we should go to Madam Malkin's first then got to Flourish & Blotts.” Still with her eyes on the paper she started to head towards the robe store.Tugging her arm Draco sighed as stopped her from nearly running into a large man. Looking a little perturbed that she was stopped Hermione mumbled her thanks as she continued to her destination. After an intense argument, over the quality of robes she should buy Hermione finally conceded allowing the remarkably fashion forward Slytherin talk her into getting at least two of her robes custom fitted. Hermione made sure to make up for her loss over the robes at the bookstore as she piled both of their books high upon the counter. Two hours later both students sat down at a table at the Leaky Cauldron. Hermione was so excited over this year’s new school books she brought three to the table.Flipping the page to chapter two of her new potions book, Hermione frowned at the shadow that crossed over the pages.“What…?”“It’s the waitress.” The bored baritone voice of the warlock sitting across from her answered her unfinished question. Hermione simultaneously looked up to see a nervously smiling young brunette women waiting for her order.Flustered that she was caught off guard Hermione hurriedly sat down her massive tome as she searched for a menu.“I am going to have the sirloin with a side of leek soup, she will have a bowl of the potato soup as well as a chicken salad.” Hermione stopped her searching when she heard the warlock’s deep confident orders. Smiling she noticed he ordered exactly what she would have probably chosen.Hermione watched as the waitress scribbled diligently on her notepad as to not forget a single thing. It was easy to see that the Malfoy title as well as Draco’s commanding aura demanded efficiency.~Tom watched entranced as the young Malfoy casually talked with the famous Gryffindor bookworm. She smiled and laughed with the Slytherin as if he was one of her oldest and dearest friends. Tom could hardly believe the sight, he knew first hand that the two students had hated one another. Their glares and ugly remarks to one another have been spotted on several occasions in Diagon Alley not to mention the rumors of all their previous fights. So what was going on?Tom pretended to wipe down some glasses as he observed the two Hogwarts students. The Malfoy heir had his legs stretched out beneath the table, one on either side of the demurely crossed legs of Miss Granger. But if that sign didn’t tickle his senses the tell-tale sign of the young man’s predatory gaze that constantly scanned the room only to come back and settle protectively over the young Gryffindor was proof enough.Good Merlin this could lead to no good, Tom thought.~Paying their dinner tab the two Hogwarts students made their way up to their rooms.“Excuse me Miss Granger,” Hermione turned around just as she was about to follow Draco up the stairs, standing by the stair rail was Tom the barman.“Yes?” She smiled respectfully.“Could I have a word with you in private for just a moment dear?” his serious expression sparked her curiosity. Turning to Draco who was only couple stairs above her she told him to go on.Tom nervously looked up to see the white haired wizard narrow his cold gaze toward him.Following the older man away from the stairs Hermione waited patiently for him to tell her what he wanted.“I know I do not know you very well lass but as your elder and friend I must say that I am worried.” He whispered seriously.Hermione blinked. Hermione was sure whatever he was saying was important by the look in his eyes but for the life of her she could not understand the point he was trying to make.“Ummm I am afraid I don’t understand what you are talking about sir.” She smiled apologetically.“What I am trying to say lass is that I do not think you should be hanging around a boy such as Draco Malfoy. He is no good.” Tom watched as the polite curiosity melted from the girls face as she understood his words, only to be replaced by a reproachful scowl.Straightening her shoulders Hermione lifted her chin in defiance, and stared at the man before her, “Please listen carefully sir, for I will not repeat myself, I am very good friends with Draco Malfoy and I take high offense to any negative remark about our friendship or his reputation. I will ask you kindly to put away your worries for me because I can tell you they are completely unfounded. And furthermore,” Leaning closer to the shocked man she looked him square in the eye. “I would suggest you start treating Draco with the respect he deserves, because one day you're going to realize how lucky you are that Draco Malfoy is on your side rather than against you. Goodnight sir.”Shocked by the vehement response from the petite girl, Tom watched in silence as she made her way to her room. Shaking his head in bewilderment Tom turned around only to face Draco Malfoy’s cold hard gaze.Leaning against the wall with one hand above his head Draco stared at the frightened old man.“I am going to ask you politely not to repeat any of this situation to anyone old man.” Taking a step forward Draco smirked as the barman nearly fell backwards trying to step back. “Because nothing would upset me more than to hear distorted rumors and gossip about Miss Granger.” he smiled devilishly revealing his sharp teeth, “ Am I making myself clear enough?”The deadly cold gaze from the white haired Slytherin pierced Tom’s very soul. Numbly he nodded. With a blink of the eye, Tom was staring at nothing. Whipping his head around he discovered he was all-alone.~*~Hermione shut her door firmly after she stepped into her room. How dare that man tell her that she should stay away from Draco? Breathing deeply she tried to reason with her anger and give Tom some leeway. Tom did not know that Draco came from a torturous home nor did he know that Hermione trusted him completely; basically the man did not know the Draco she knew.Sighing she pushed away the man's words and began to unpack her toiletries. Picking up her small cosmetic bag Hermione began to search for her toothbrush as she absently unlocked her connecting door.No sooner than her hand left the lock, the door swung open to reveal Draco standing in the threshold.“What took you so long?” Ignoring his gruff demand, Hermione peeked around the tall Slytherin.Just as she expected, both of their rooms were just the same. Each room had a fairly large four-poster bed made out of carved oak. The carvings always interested Hermione; she had a secret love for old furniture in the magical world. Each piece of furniture always told a story, the carvings on her bed consisted of Centaurs running through a forest.“I love this type of furniture.” She sighed out loud forgetting Draco was in the room as she examined each bedpost.Walking towards the best post Draco let his eyes scan the wooden pillar with an uninterested gaze.“I take it you mean furniture from the magical world,” she nodded as she crawled across her bed to examine the headrest.“Mmmm.” Draco responded. Leaning against the nearby bedpost he crossed his arms as he let his eyes drift towards the window.Noticing the sudden silence in the room Hermione turned around on the bed. From her angle Hermione got a chance to appreciate the observation of Draco's strong profile.Obviously deep in thought Hermione slowly crawled forward until she was a few inches away from the silent warlock. Showing no sign of awareness to her closer position, Hermione lifted her hand. For some reason she wanted to take his mind off whatever dark thought that was taking over his mind. The already naturally hard angles of his face were so taught his strong jaw and cheekbones seemed to be carved out of marble.Acting on pure instinct she let her lifted hand touch his pale cheek. As he turned into her touch, a sweet heat churned in her stomach. It was a feeling she knew for certain she never experienced before. Hermione's whole body tingled as his strong hand grabbed her waist and slid her across the quilt closer to his presence.
Her heartbeat doubled as her gaze locked onto the warlock's inches from her face. while she caressed his cheek with one hand her other hand nervously twisted the fiber on the quilt. why was she so nervous? With every passing second his eyes grey darker and her body tingled all over. It was too much, she could barely stand it.
So many factors hung around him as Draco looked into her eyes, all pointing to one emotion. Fear. The tangy smell of anxiety wafted across his nose with each percussion of her racing heart. Draco's wasn't fully sure where this was going to go, hell he wasn't even sure if he wanted to test this boundary of their relationship yet, but he was positive she wasn't ready.Unsure how to break the spell from his eyes, Hermione silently whilst nervously she let him push her gently back on the bed. Never breaking eye contact both students laid flat on the bed.Flipping out his scepter Draco pointed towards the ceiling. Without a sound Hermione watched as green swirls of magic drifted towards the ceiling creating a beautiful constellation above.Draco turned to see a sigh of awe escape her smiling lips as she lifted her arm straight in the air and waved gently. Immediately he felt a cool breeze swish across the room, effectively blowing out the candles leaving there dark room to be lit by the moving constellation he created.Turning to her side she settled in deeper into the covers next to Draco. Silently she levitated the covers over them both."We are going to have to get used to sleeping separately from now on." As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted her choice of words. It seemed so final.Springs squeaked in protest as the larger body moved to his side facing the small sorceress. Hermione's direct line of sight allowed her to get a good view of her classmate.Willing her body not to react, she silently let his image burn into her mind. Never in her life did she ever get this close to a man. It disturbed her that her blood started to race at the sight of his bent arm that was supporting his head revealing a very hard swollen bicep.Unknowingly her eyes widened as she fixated on the large chest that blocked her vision of the other side of the bed. Past experience, colliding into it on many occasion, told her that is was very very solid. The immense size of him compared to her person was enough to fluster her normally very calculated mind. Spending her life partnered with this man was going to be sheer hell.Merlin himself had to hold him back from a victorious laugh as he not only watched her eyes explore his body but as he smelt the delicious scent of arousal float in the air. Every fiber of his body instinctively tightened and coiled at the one thought his mind started to process; Hermione Granger was attracted to him.Merlin is was too fucking good. His mind raced with thoughts. Thoughts that grew darker and more heated with each passing second. A tight resolve allowed his face to betray nothing, but did nothing for the lengthening of his teeth and the violent rush of his blood pulsing through his body. This year was going to be good, for that he was certain."You let me worry about that Princess," she found that when he winked at her like this she found it juvenile while completely irresistible. Merlin help her get a grip "I will see to those arrangements.""What arrangements? Draco wha..." a tiny squeak interrupted her sentence. Hermione's whole body blushed as she felt the Slytherin turn to rest on top of her much like he did at her parents house."Shh, sleep now questions later." Ignoring her slight pout, draco laid his head on his favorite spot--her breast. Not caring if he didn’t learn his lesson from the last time he slept in this position, he ignored his body's responses and drifted to sleep.Boldy as before she let her fingers comb through his soft white hair and rest gently at the back of his neck. Smiling as she felt the warlock's bed shaking growl she drifted to sleep.~*~*~While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
