Second Task Revelations

Goku huffed angrily and put down the large book he was looking through "If I read anymore my brain will explode!"
Gohan frowned "No it won't, that's physically not possible Otousan."
Goku rubbed his eyes "If I read any more i might prove you wrong."
Piccolo scowled and lowered his book "Stop your whining Goku, we're helping you do this, don't forget that." He looked back at his book and flipped the page "We don't have to help you."
Goku yelped then clapped his hands together "No please help me! I couldn't do this on my own!"
Gohan chuckled then patted his Father's shoulder "We didn't say we would stop helping."
All three of them suddenly stood up as Vegeta walked towards them with his hands in his pockets. Vegeta glanced at Gohan and Piccolo then held his gaze with Goku. "Kakarrot, may I speak to you?" He looked at the other two aliens then back at Goku "In private."
Goku sighed then nodded "Fine, come on." Goku crossed his arms then walked out if the library and outside. He looked around then flew up to the nearby roof and sat down. He watched as Vegeta flew up as well then sat next to him. "Well? What is it?"
Vegeta cracked his neck then looked at Goku "I've been thinking about that egg thing. And... I think I may have come up with something to understand what the clue is."
Goku’s eyes lit up "Really? What have you come up with?"
Vegeta tapped his fingers on the roof "I have a feeling that putting the egg then opening it underwater will reveal its real secrets." He shrugged "Got nothing to lose, why not try it out?"
Goku tapped his chin "Gohan and Piccolo were thinking the same thing, the water I mean, but non of us through about putting it under the water." Goku smiled at Vegeta and the Prince felt his heart tug at the sight of his mates happiness "Thank you Vegeta, really." He stood up and looked down at Vegeta "I'll get the egg. You want to stay here and when I come back we'll test your theory together?"
Vegeta looked up at his mate and gave him a small smile "Sounds good."
Goku nodded then put his fingers to his forehead and IT’d to Gohan who had the egg then came back to Vegeta. Goku held out his hand to Vegeta who stood up "Hold on, I'll IT us to the lake."
Vegeta nodded then held onto him. In a second they were on the shore by the lake. Vegeta took a step towards the lake and looked at it; he always found that the lake had a strangely eerie beauty to it. He heard some shuffling behind him and when he turned back he almost choked on his tongue.
Goku looked up at Vegeta and tilted his head "What?" He rolled up the last of his clothes into a ball and put on the ground and picked up the egg. "You going to swim with your clothes on?"
Vegeta stared at Goku’s nudity then blushed "I uh... right..." He stripped down to his boxers then crossed his arms "Let's get this over with already..."
Goku grinned "Sure! I'm so excited! I hope it doesn't screech like it did before." He flew up then flew over a deeper part of the lake and lowered himself into the water.
Vegeta growled to himself then followed suit, his tail wound tightly around his waist. Vegeta watched at Goku floated in the water with the egg held out in front of him. Vegeta nodded to him and Goku put his hand in the top and turned the latch. Vegeta and Goku both flinched when it opened but we're surprised by the beautiful music and voice that poured from within the egg.
Finally they needed to resurface and the both broke the surface of the water gasping for air. Vegeta floated onto his back in thought. "Come seek us where our voices sound, we cannot sing above the ground... obviously underwater so the task must be under the lake surface somewhere..." He tilted his head "An hour long you'll have to look; again, obvious. To recover what we took... I wonder..." He glanced at Goku who was floating as well and had the closed egg resting on his stomach. "Have you noticed anything missing?"
Goku furrowed his brow "Hmm... not that I can think of. Sorry."
Vegeta grumbled to himself then said "Maybe before the task... something will be taken and you have to retrieve it before the hour is out." He smirked "Should be easy enough for you."
Goku pressed his lips into a thin line "Um... Geta? I don't know about you but... I can't hold my breath for an hour straight... especially since our bodies are not fully grown anymore."
Vegeta hummed "Right, right..." He put his hands behind his head "Maybe you should see if the Namek or your cub has any advise."
Goku nodded "I'll make sure to. Maybe Piccolo came up with some sort of shielding ability that can store air? Or maybe there's a spell that can do the same?"
Vegeta shrugged "Who knows. Let's get changed and tell the other two of our findings." He looked over at Goku who was still floating around nearby "Did you tell your cub what was going on before you left?"
"Uh..."
Vegeta righted himself and scowled "You didn't did you."
Goku righted himself as well and laughed "Uh, no sorry Geta. I was so excited!"
Vegeta rolled his eyes and the right side of his mouth curved into a small smile. "Come on, let’s hurry back before your cub has a panic attack." He floated up and over to the shore then dried himself off with a Ki flare.
Goku flew up beside him then shook himself before flaring his Ki. He reached up and started to try and tame his now fluffy hair.
Vegeta chuckled "Here, let me." He floated up a bit then started to sort out his hair to how it normally was. When he floated down to eye level with Goku, he froze as they locked eyes. Vegeta felt his heart thumping loudly in his chest. "Kakarrot..."
Goku breath hitched and he whispered "Vegeta..."
Vegeta reached his left hand out and cupped the side of Goku's face. Goku closed his eyes and leaned into his touch. Vegeta shook his head then closed his own eyes "Word cannot express the shame I feel... I have failed you as your mate and as your Prince. I... I am not worthy of you or of your affection..."
Goku opened his eyes "Vegeta... Yo-"
"No Kakarrot." Vegeta stopped him. He lowered his hand then clenched his fists "There is no excuse for my behavior and treatment of my mate. If this were Planet Vegeta... I would be punished severely for causing you to be in such a sickly state..." He grimaced "I will subject myself to a punishment that I see fit to atone for my foolish and childish mistakes."
Goku shook his head and grasped both of Vegeta's shoulders "No Vegeta, you don't have to."
Vegeta removed Goku’s hands from him. He didn't feel worthy of even being touched by him. "Do not prevent me from retaining my pride Kakarrot. I have lost much of my Saiyan pride over the years and I wish to do this much. To keep the Saiyan race traditions alive, even if it means subjecting myself to punishments that I have earned."
Goku looked at his Prince sadly "What will you do?"
Vegeta shrugged "I am not sure, I will think of something. I was not old enough to be shown the punishments for this kind of misdeed."
Goku nodded, quickly got dressed then sighed "What a pair we make huh?"
Vegeta quirked an eyebrow "What do you mean by that?"
Goku laughed "I'm an Earth raised peacekeeping Saiyan. You're a Saiyan born on our home world and raised by our traditions before you were with Freeza. You were a murderer Geta, a planet purger. I couldn't even dream of doing something like that." He took Vegeta's hand into his own "And yet... I can't think of life without you, my Prince." He kissed the back of Vegeta's hand "My mate."
Vegeta felt his chest tighten and he looked away. "Please Kakarrot... Please stop... Until I atone for my sins, I am not worthy of your affection." He extracted his hand from Goku and dropped down to the ground and took a step back "I am not terminating our relationship Kakarrot. Just... I am just trying to..." He growled at himself for not being able to explain himself to his own mate.
Goku sighed then said softly "I get it Vegeta, I really do." He knelt down on one knee and looked up at Vegeta "We'll talk more when you... ah... atone for your actions. Yeah?"
Vegeta let out a breath of relief and nodded "Thank you for understanding Kakarrot. Now, let's get back to the Namekian and Gohan." He put on his clothes then held out his hand for Goku to take.
Goku smiled then took Vegeta's hand "Right." They IT'd to Gohan’s location and Gohan instantly growled at them.
"So where the Hell did you two run off to so quickly? Vegeta says he wants to talk and then you suddenly pop here for a second, grab the egg and leave without saying anything!" Gohan crossed his arms and frowned.
Piccolo stood up and put his hand on his seething mates shoulder "What Gohan means to ask is, Where did you two go? Well, the lake obviously from the smell of you two, but why?"
Goku grinned "Vegeta had a theory that water would help uncover the hint and it did!" He went over to the table and got a quill and a piece of parchment then wrote down the first line of lyrics. He glanced sheepishly at Vegeta "Uh... How did the rest go?"
Vegeta chuckled then went over and plucked the quill from his hand and finished the lyrics. He handed the paper to Gohan who snatched it then read it.
Gohan looked back up at them confused "I don't get it. How did water uncover this? Did it show you this text or tell you through some telepathic link?”
Goku tossed up the egg then caught it "When I opened it under the water, a girl's voice sung those words. It was beautiful."
Vegeta nodded "Through my travels, I find that the tone that this woman sings is strangely familiar."
Piccolo looked at Vegeta "Familiar? How do you mean? Is Goku going to face some sort of alien species?"
Vegeta shook his head "I do not believe so. But, I have come across a species in the past that might be similar. We called them Star Sirens." He smirked "I remember when Nappa almost got caught by one, that was hilarious!" He laughed at the memory.
Goku suddenly saw the scene Vegeta was thinking of and snorted then covered his mouth. He looked at Vegeta and tapped his temple while laughing "I-I can see it! Ahaha!"
Vegeta grinned "It's great isn't it!"
Gohan frowned "Seriously guys?"
Goku waved at Gohan while still laughing "W-wait, here!" He put his hand to Gohan’s head and Gohan widened his eyes then stifled a laugh with his hand.
"Oh Kami that IS funny!" Gohan pressed his lips together tightly to not laugh out loud. The image of Nappa shaking his butt like an excited puppy in front of a beautiful female aliens was very humorous. Because of Piccolo and Gohan’s link, Piccolo saw the memory as well. Piccolo rolled his eyes but smirked at the now dead idiot.
Vegeta shook his head smiling then got serious "Now, back on track." He turned to the three of them and crossed his arms "My theory is some sort of underwater find-it type thing. From the sound of those lyrics, something of value will be taken from Kakarrot and he will have to go find it within an hour. An easy task." He looked at Piccolo "Namek, do you have the ability to form a shield around your person that is able to store oxygen and last underwater?"
Piccolo shook his head "No, I do not."
Gohan tapped his chin "Maybe a transfiguration spell? We could try to turn you into a mermaid."
Goku grinned "That sounds fun! You're the smartest in our group Gohan. Could you figure out how to do that then try and teach me?"
Gohan grinned back and nodded "I'll get on that now! See you guys later." He grabbed Piccolos hand and grinned evilly "Guess who's gonna be my guinea pig!" Piccolo’s sweat dropped but he didn't say anything as he was dragged off to the book shelves as Gohan looked for the spell book section on Transfiguration.
Vegeta and Goku were left alone as a nervous looking Piccolo was dragged off by his enthusiastic mate. Vegeta glanced at Goku then rubbed the back of his neck "Um... I'm going to ah... go to my room and... think." He looked at Goku’s eyes the looked away.
Goku smiled softly "Go ahead Vegeta. I'll be in the field practicing my kata if you wanna spar with me."
Vegeta was thankful for Goku’s words and nodded "I'll keep it in mind." He gave his mate one last look before walking away, Slytherin dorm room bound.
Goku sighed then IT'd to the open field after briefly telling Gohan and Piccolo where he was going to be.
