Kindred Passion
CHAPTER 18:
Watching the sleeping Seanna, Achak said, "Did you know she plans on going with Miles and Sibeal when they turn Tariq over to the Elders?" Looking shocked, Karim asked, "Why is she doing that? She doesn't need to." Taking a seat, Achak answered, "I know she wants to face them in person about the dissolution." Karim nodded, "I think she intending to beg forgiveness on Fionn's behalf. She said last night that he deserved to be forgiven. He was supposedly acting for the good of the clan." Achak replied, "That is very much Seanna's way. She'll even forgive Tariq, but I am sure he won't be welcome in her life again." He stood, "Pleasant rest, Karim." "The same to you, Achak."
Another sleepless night, Ginny lay in her dorm worrying about her brother, Harry and Seanna. She knew they had been hurt, but no one would tell her just how badly. There was only one source for the truth. Quietly, she dresseut put put her slippers on, they would make less noise. Slipping out of the Common Room, she stealthily made her way to the flat. This time, the shield caused her no concern. Entering the sitting room, she saw Achak. He lay on tofa ofa asleep. Grinning, she leaned down to kiss him. "Wake up, Prince Charming," Ginny whispered, knowing how acute his hearing was. As his eyes focused on her, he said, "I suppose I should have known you'd come." Sitting up, he took her onto his lap and returned her sweet kiss. Leaning up against him, she asked, "How bad did Tariq hurt them?" He held her close, "The boys were just minor cuts and bruises except for the concussions. They're in my room. With Seanna, it was almost too close. He beat her badly. But she's pretty much healed. Karim is with her." As he continued to hold the pretty redhead, she fell asleep. This time, he was NOT going to surrender her. Content, he went back to sleep with her in his arms.
Seanna woke as the sun rose. Slipping out of Karim's arms, she went to get a bath. After donning some clean clothes, she quietly went to the sitting room. Achak was asleep on the sofa with Ginny nestled in his arms. Smiling at the sight, she padded to the storage area and fixed herself a cup of cocoa, returning to curl up on the loveseat. Eventually Harry and Ron also woke and joined her. Ron looked shocked to find his baby sister curled up with Achak. Harry with a great deal of wisdom, said quietly, "Relax Ron, Ginny's probably in the safest place in the school. Achak would kill to protect Seanna and your sister." Ron asked, "Seanna, is there something I should know?" She grinned, "I think she was worried about us. It's not the first time she's snuck in here. Remember, Harry? By the way, guys, thank you for what you tried to do last night. Help yourselves to some cocoa."
When Mairead arrived, she was rather startled to see Ginny, but said nothing. Checking on her patients, she told the boys they could go to class. After they left, Mairead joined Seanna, "So you're going with Miles, hmmm?" Seanna replied, "Yes, I am. It's something I need to do." "Well, I thought I'd warn you they're going later this morning. Albus wants Tariq out of here." Responding, Seanna said, "I figured it would be soon. You can't blame Albus for wanting him away from the kids. Mairead, please don't worry, I have my own reasons to meet with the Elders, and Tariq is very low on that list." The healer smiled, "Good." She looked toward Achak and Ginny. "She seems to be making a habit of this. Anything I should know." Seanna returned the smile, "I think your smart enough to figure it out, but the excuse is that she was worried about us." "So, how long have they been asleep like that?" Seanna shrugged, "I have no idea, but my other guardian is just as asleep." Sputtering, Mairead asked, "Guardian? WHAT other guardian?" Grinning at her, Seanna gestured toward her room. Mairead went to open the door. Peeking inside, her jaw dropped to her knees. Behind her, she could hear Seanna giggling, "You look stunned, Mairead." Closing the door, Mairead said, "I didn't know. How long has he been there?" Seanna chuckled, "All night. We talked some and he seems to be an amazing man."
There was a 'pop' and Dobby appeared carrying a large tray. Seanna asked, "Am I expecting company?" Dobby replied, "Yes, Professor, Harry Potter's Friend, and one other. Brought food for three." She smiled at him, "Thank you very much, Dobby." Looking at Mairead, she suggested, "You wake the two on the couch and I'll rouse Karim." As Mairead rose to nudge Achak, Seanna sent a tendril of thought to the Seif al Nu'man, "Wake up, sleepyhead, Albus is on his way.' Just as Achak opened his eyes and woke Ginny, Karim came out of the bedroom. "Ginny," Seanna said, "I think you'd better get headed out for class. I don't need to be on your teachers' crap list." The young girl came and gave her a hug, "Thanks Seanna, for not asking any questions." Seanna eyed her, "That will come later, young lady. Now scoot."
Seanna suddenly said, "Oh damn, I forgot." With a quick motion, and a snap of her fingers, four mugs and a large earthenware carafe appeared on the table. She smirked at Mairead, "My a toa told me it was rude to eat in front of others." Achak chuckled, "I doubt your mother would have considered it with the Kindred, and you're serving blood." She shrugged, "Momma being one of Airmed's Children, you never know."
Albus arrived with Muirinn and Miles, "Child, are you sure about this?" She gently touched his cheek, "Yes Albus, this is something I need to do." He returned the caress, "I won't try to stop you then, Seanna." Smiling, she said, "Dobby brought breakfast," and they all sat down to share the meal, chatting about little things. Miles appeared thoughtful throughout the meal. Finally he spoke, "Seanna, you are the first person I've ever met that expects us to sit at table with you. Even Sibeal and Albus have never taken this step." Albus said, "Only because we are unsure just what the custom is. Seanna does as she sees fit, regardless of custom. "Maybe the four of you would like to teach her Kindred Law, and the individual laws of the various Clans."
Seanna asked, "Albus, how much do you think I can handle?" He grinned, "My dear, so far you've absorbed the total curriculum of 5 of our subjects. Even the Astronomy inctorctor has no more to teach you." She sighed, "So what do I do now, vegetate?" Albus inquired of Mairead, "Are you and Madame Pomfrey ready to cope with her? And you Miles, are you and Raissa up to "Magical Beings'?" Mairead answered first, "We'll be ready by tomorrow." Miles followed, "Raissa and I can begin any time after today." Muirinn said, "Uncle Albus, as far as the heritage of Airmed's Children is concerned, I'd like to see if Rionach would help." Karim added, "I would be more than happy to teach her Seif al Nu'man Clan Law and Customs." He smiled at Seanna, "Do you think that will keep you from "vegetating'?"
"If this child is learning that quickly, I will be happy to teach her about her heritage," a wizened voice spoke from the door. Muirinn sprang to her feet, as did Mairead, "Rionach, how did you get here? We were going to stop and see you later today." "Calmly child, I was told of a new-found family member." She looked at Seanna, "You do indeed look like Shela. I'm Rionach. You might call me the family matriarch and history keeper." Seanna curtsied, "It is good to meet you. Muirinn has spoke of you and so has Albus."
Walking up to her, Albus said, "Hello, Rionach." "Albus Dumbledore, I see you haven't changed any." He smiled, "Nor have you. Your tongue is as sharp as ever." Muirinn spoke again, "We were just about to leave for the Council of Elders. Will you join us?" Rionach replied, "Certainly, I want to see how this youngster handles herself." Karim took Seanna aside, "Be safe, lovely lady. I wish you weren't doing this, but I understand your needing to do so." She smiled up at him, "Thank you Karim. I'll be back."
At a pre-arranged signal two of the Loup-Garou brought Tariq in, and handed him over to Miles and Achak. "Alright everyone, " Albus said, "Let's go." In a matter of moments, they were standing outside a large hall. Miles walkedto wto what appeared to be a guard. "I am Miles, Primogen of Clan Fianna. My party has business with the Council." The man bowed, "Yes, Primogen. If you will follow me?" He led them to seats near the center of the chamber. "I will notify the Council of your arrival." The man bowed again, and left them. Muirinn whispered in Seanna's ear, "Are yore yre you want to do this? You don't have to." Seanna grimaced, "Why are all of you trying to talk me out of it? Dear Muirinn, this is something I must do." The group sat watching quietly as the Council made some decisions or tabled a few for future discussion. Someone called out, "Primogen Miles of Clan Fianna."
Miles rose, and with Achak's aid, brought Tariq before the Council. He bowed, "Esteemed Elders, I bring before you a violation of established bonds. k thk that you allow the victim to speak for herself. She has been proven to be the only daughter of Sinead Shaheen's sister, Shela, and as such, I ask for Clan Rights on her behalf." One of the Elders responded, "Let the woman stand forth." As Seanna joined Miles, the Elder continued, "What proof do you offer of this connection?" Muirinn stepped forward, "Honored Elders, I am Muirinn Fiona Shaheen, youngest daughter of Sinead and Ronan. The proof I offer is this photograph of Mother's sister Shela. My mother carried this with her until the day she died." As she handed the photo to the Elder, She continued, "I also bear witness to the mark upon her wrist. The mark of Airmed's Children."
Another Elder spoke, "She is a witch and can conjure such marks." Miles spoke again, "Nay Revered Elder, Seanna's training only began within the last fortnight. Even before that, she was displaying mindspeech, prescient dreams, the gifts of Airmed, pain blog, ag, and trancing. All from a woman, who lived in silence until a month ago." The third Elder stated, "I remember Shela. You bear an amazing resemblance to her." Seanna merely bowed her head. The Supreme Elder, at last, spoke. "We accept the proof and grant her Clan Rights. What is your given name, Child?" Seanna replied, "My mother named me Shannon Kaelyn." The Elder smiled, "Shannon Kaelyn Shaheen, I grant you official status with the Clan." He turned to Muirinn, "Muirinn, daughter of Sinead, you will instruct your cousin on her rights and responsibilities to the Clan." Muirinn bowed, "I will, Revered Elder."
Returning his gaze to Seanna, the Supreme Elder ordered that a chair be brought for her. "Let us not take chances with an heir to the blood. Now child, state your case."
Seanna bowed her head, "Thank you Esteemed One." Taking a deep breath, she began, "One month ago, I crept onto the Hogwarts Grounds in search of the brother who had kept me imprisoned. In error I was attacked. The Vampyre, realizing his mistake, aided me. We feel in love. He first pledged a commitment to me, and some days later, asked me to marry him. By then we were aware I was carrying his child. Things were going well until a fortnight ago, when he attacked and raped me. I lost so much blood that Healer Mairead was in fear for my life. Some of the Kindred fed me that I might live, and the child with me." She looked at the Elder, "Without knowing of the consequences, I refused the blood of the one who had harmed me. But even knowing now, I would still refuse him. I have been well cared for since."
"Last night, while I was returning to my rooms with three young students, he attacked again. The girl fled for help, while the two young men were injured in my defense. Healer Mairead can tell you of my injuries. It was then that Albus Dumbledore came and bound my attacker and decided it was time to bring him before you."
Mairead stepped forward, "Elders, the two young men had cuts and bruises, and concussions. One of them was the son of Lily Evans, who became blood sister to Muirinn. Shannon had a concussion, several broken ribs, a broken arm, and almost all of the bones in her face were broken as well. With the help of Muirinn, and Achak of Clan Nosferatu, we managed to heal all the physical damage."
