James lay on the bed blankly gazing up at the ceiling. His concentration was suddenly broken by the door opening. He groaned softly expecting it to be Voldemort wanting another fuck. Controlling the moron with his hormones was easy, but tiring. Not to mention the sight of that pale naked body made James want to toss his cookies; which he usually did after sex.
He was pleasantly surprised when it was Lucius who walked through the door. “I got the feeling you wanted to see me,” he smiled.
“The potion is ready,” James responded sitting up.
“Now will you tell me what it’s supposed to do?” the blond asked as he joined his lover on the bed.
James thought for a moment and sighed deeply. “Alright, I suppose you’re going to need to know what’s going to happen so you can help me. But you have to promise that you won’t try and stop me. It’s the only way I’m going to get out of here.”
“I make no promises except this; I’m going to protest if I think it’s too dangerous.”
James rolled his eyes. “You think everything I do is too dangerous.”
“Because it is. You seem to have very little regard for your own safety.”
“Let’s focus on my mental issues later. Right now we’re going to focus on the potion.”
He turned around and pulled a vile out from under the bed full of pale green liquid. “This,” he said proudly, “is an earth magic potion.”
“So you’re going to pour it on the collar and open it with earth magic then.”
“You only wish. I’m going to drink it. Then I’m going to soak up lots of earth magic.”
“No!” Lucius cried out once it dawned on him what James was planning. “That is much too dangerous! You’re more likely to be killed than anything!”
“Shhh… keep your voice down! I told you it was the only way. It will be ok. I know what I’m doing. Do you have the replacement collar?”
The blond nodded and reached into his robes bringing out the collar. “I can’t believe a collar cost me thirty galleons,” he mumbled as he handed it over.
“I’m flattered that I’m worth it,” James chuckled as he downed the potion.
After only a few minutes a glow the same color as the potion began to form around him; and started to seep into his skin. The dark haired wizard inhaled deeply; letting every ounce of earth magic soak into his body until he could feel a light burning sensation in his veins. Then he focused on the collar and the magic that bound it. He imagined it as a giant brick wall. After the image was clear in his mind he formed the earth magic into a battering ram; slamming it hard into that brick wall with everything he had.
Lucius watched nervously as an explosion of bright light filled the room. The collar around his lover’s neck soon began to glow a bright red. The blond inhaled sharply as James burned through the earth magic and began to use his own. He bit his lip at the first scent of burning flesh. The power surge was just too much for James’ body to handle.
Lucius was beginning to get really worried when he suddenly heard a soft click. The awful collar fell to the floor and so did James. The blond rushed over to him to see if he was all right. He was breathing, but he was very pale with second degree burns on his neck and a few light burns on his shoulders.
“Put the fake collar on,” James whispered weakly; not opening his eyes. “Do it quickly before someone comes in.”
“But James, your neck is burnt to a crisp!” Lucius protested. “You need to have those burns treated before anything is placed near your neck.”
“But then Voldemort will know the collar was taken off.”
“Not necessarily. I have an idea.”
Lucius left the room telling every death eater he met that James was ill and no one was to go into his room for any reason. When anyone asked why a healer hadn’t been fetched he just simply replied that James had requested Severus. He knew that even if Voldemort did catch wind of James being ill he wouldn’t go investigate. The psychopath would stay as far away from that room as possible to avoid catching anything.
The minute he was back in his private room he immediately fire called Severus who came right away. “I don’t know why I wasn’t told of this beforehand so I could have been prepared,” the potions master mumbled.
“I would have told you had I known before ten minutes ago. You know James, he kept it from us so we wouldn’t try and stop him.”
Severus couldn’t help but laugh a little as he followed the blond down the hall. They found James right where Lucius had left him; lying on the middle of the floor. Severus rushed to his side and did the best he could to heal the burns.
“You idiot, how could you go and risk your life like that!” the potions master scolded him as they gently put him up on the bed.
“It worked didn’t it,” James replied sticking out his tongue.
Severus opened his mouth to say something, but he was speechless. “What Severus was trying to say is; there must have been some other way to free you. You know, one that didn’t endanger your life.”
James sighed and closed his eyes for a moment. “I need out of here! You both know I’d rather die than be here.”
“We know,” Severus sighed. “But we would prefer you alive and not burned to a crisp.”
“Well what’s done is done. You two can stop yelling at me and put that other collar on me.”
Severus rolled his eyes and wiped the healing salve off James’ neck with a damp cloth. The skin was still red, but it looked much better than it had a few minutes ago. “You’re lucky that I keep my fast healing salve in stock.”
“Remind me to sing your praises later then. Right now you both need to leave. No offense, but I don’t need dumbass asking questions.”
Lucius unceremoniously snapped the piece of metal onto his lover’s neck and softly kissed him. “So how much longer until you intend to make your escape?”
James shrugged. “Not for a few days at least. Believe me when I say I’d dearly love to be out of here tonight; but I’m drained. It’s going to take a day or two for my magic to recharge.”
Both men nodded and hugged him tightly. “We’ll leave to rest then,” Severus spoke softly. “And I’ll give Lucius a little more salve for your burn.”
They each gave him one last kiss and left to give him peace and quiet.
