The Grindelwald Legacy
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE. from ccino
Chapter 18
Lucy looked around the ward, there wasn’t much in here to inspire her. Eventually her gaze settled on the bed opposite the one she occupied.
“Yes. It worked.” She squealed excitedly.
Severus was more than stunned when the plain, iron framed hospital bed opposite turned into an exact replica of the stone gargoyle that protected the entrance to the Headmasters quarters. Turning back to her he asked. “You seem surprised, did you not expect it to work?”
“I didn’t know if it would or not, I never tried anything like that before. It’s been mostly little things, alterations to my clothes, opening and closing curtains, that kind of stuff. But this, wow.”
“Wow indeed Miss Grindelwald. Can you animate it, the original opens to the Headmasters entrance.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than the gargoyle moved aside to show the moving, spiral staircase that led up to Albus’ domain.
He ogled at it then turned back to Lucy. “That is just a facsimile, it does not actually lead any where?”
“I don’t know. I just thought of the entrance and wished it here. You could always try it I suppose.”
“I think not, what if it were to revert to it’s original form, I could be trapped?”
“Never thought about that. Nothing else I did changed though, why would the staircase?”
Raising an eyebrow and giving her a wry look, he made his way to the entrance. “Albus.” He shouted.
“Albus Dumbledore could have sworn he heard his Potions Masters voice calling up the stairs, but why on earth would he shout? The man was quite capable of coming up the steps unaided. At the second shout he worried that something was amiss and opened his office door. “Severus, has something happe... Oh my. Something has indeed happened. Why am I in the hospital wing?” He asked, a look of total confusion on his face.
Lucy watched open mouthed when the headmaster appeared, while Severus looked from one to the other, trying to convince himself that what he was seeing was real. “Wait here. Nobody move until I return.”
Lucy and Albus stared after the disappearing Professor, then at each other. Albus looking bewildered and Lucy giving the appearance of one who has just committed a major crime and been caught red handed.
Severus headed down the stairwells at a run, heading straight for the original entrance to the Headmasters office. Yes, there it was. “Toffee bonbons.” He said, too excited to care about the ridiculous password. The gargoyle moved aside, sliding back into place as soon as Severus stepped onto the staircase that took him up to the office entrance. As soon as he was at the top, he turned and made his way back down. “Amazing.” He exclaimed as he stepped into the ward. “I entered this staircase from the usual entrance Albus.”
“How? Would somebody care to explain what is going on here. Why does my staircase suddenly lead to the hospital wing?” Albus seemed rather agitated. “Unless… “ He fixed his startling blue eyes on Lucy, who in turn reddened and burrowed down under the covers slightly.
“You did this?” Albus asked.
“Yeah, I’m sorry, I’ll change it right back.”
“Then Hetty was right, you do have it.”
Have what?” Lucy and Severus both asked simultaneously.
“The Grindelwald Legacy. Your grandmother told me she believed you had inherited this gift, have you not discussed it with her?”
“Erm no. You mean gran already knows about it?”
“She does indeed my dear. And stop looking so worried, you have done nothing wrong.”
“Would someone care to give me an explanation.” Severus frowned, displeased at Albus for not mentioning this to him sooner.
“I think Hetty would be the best person to give the details, but basically, young Lucy has inherited a family trait that seems to miss the odd generation, only to rear it’s head at the most opportune times. Your father Gellert, did not have the legacy, nor his father before him. The story of the legacy was handed down however and you clearly have this innate talent.”
“Cool. So what else can I do?”
“Many, many things my dear. I will inform Hetty immediately and ask her to visit a little earlier tomorrow. Incidentally, why have you not attempted to heal yourself? It is possible it might work.” Albus said, making his way back up the staircase.
Excited at the prospect, Lucy concentrated on her knee getting better. When after a minute nothing happened, she turned a disappointed face to the Potions Master. “It’s not working.”
“Try again, think harder.” Severus told her, sitting once more by her bed. “Focus. Think it well.”
Lucy locked eyes with him and tried again, wishing with all her might that her leg was back to normal, not once did her eyes leave his. The trouble was, the more she looked into his eyes, the harder she found it to concentrate on her knee. Instead her mind roved to other, more erotic thoughts of her and Severus, their bodies entwined as he...
Severus suddenly broke the gaze when he recognized the glazed appearance in her eyes. “Miss Grindelwald, your knee.” He reminded her rather gruffly.
She blinked, her eyes refocusing. “What? Oh yeah, my knee.” She muttered dazedly. “You know, you have the most amazing eyes Professor.”
Severus swallowed hard as he got to his feet. “My eyes are none of your concern Miss Grindelwald. I suggest you return the gargoyle to it’s original state, and spend the remainder of the evening concentrating on healing your knee. Good night.”
Lucy watched him stalk off in a billow of robes. ‘Idiot.’ She admonished herself. What was it about the mean, sarcastic git that got to her? Hell it was only two weeks, two weeks since Charlie had more than satisfied her appetite. Only she wasn’t used to waiting this long, and she’d felt a kind of stirring for the dark eyed wizard since she first met him in the apothecary’s, as bad tempered as he was. Now his hair and skin was improved he stirred her even more, making concentrating on her knee while he was staring into her eyes near impossible. ‘Great, so now I’m horny for the one bloke that can’t stand the sight of me. And he’s a teacher to boot.’
Severus went directly to his rooms and slammed the door behind him. He was shocked at himself. The girl had looked at him so lustfully he’d almost lost it up there. Never in all his years of teaching, had he acknowledged the advances of the occasional student that had a crush on him. It was something that never occurred to him. The pubescent, sexual suggestions of sixth and seventh year females held no appeal for him whatsoever. The problem he had with Lucy, was that he first saw her as a more mature female, rather than a sixteen year old. Had that not happened he was certain he would not be feeling such carnal inclinations towards her right now. And her physical attributes were unaltered too, the glamour it seemed, only applied to her facial features. “Damn!” Trying to force her image from his mind, he head for the bathroom, intent on taking a cold shower.
Albus arrived with a couple of house elf’s the following morning. “Professor Snape advised me that you are feeling somewhat isolated up here, he suggested you might feel less so in the staff room. Normally the staff room is out of bounds to students, but since you are not yet officially enrolled at Hogwarts and you are in a somewhat compromising position, I think the idea a good one for now. The elf’s will help you dress and bring you down once I have extended the brace to cover the length of your leg.
Half an hour later Lucy was in the staff room, settled comfortably on a chaise lounge brought in especially by the elf’s. They fussed over her so much she wanted to scream at them to just ‘bugger off and leave her alone.’
“Really, I’m fine. You’ve both done so good a job of making me comfy and relaxed, I almost feel I could go to sleep.”
The elf’s hopped on the spot, pleased at the praise. They ensured she had a good supply of snacks and drinks within easy reach, and a magical, soundproof screen was set to the side, ready for use when she needed to relieve herself.
Not that she intended to. Lucy decided she’d suffer the agony of a ruptured bladder before she used a bedpan in the company of the staff.
Eventually they left and Lucy breathed a sigh of relief. Then she pouted, turning her head at the sound of a soft snort.
Severus sat by the fireplace, the Daily Prophet lowered to his lap, eyes full of mirth.
“It’s not funny.”
Severus considered her for a moment. “Actually it was highly amusing, though not as much as it will be when Sybil arrives for today’s lesson. I intend to enjoy every moment of that.” Severus told her, lifting the paper and burying his nose back inside it.
Lucy huffed while she waited for the divination Professor to arrive.
