Sitting down he casually leaned back and looked at what she had spread across the desk. Several case files with her research notes lay about the desk but nothing too terribly interesting, he thought as he riffled through the papers. He placed his hands to the sides of the desk then looked down at the desk drawers. Hmmm, had she made changes for herself within the desk? He found himself vastly curious. He slowly opened the middle drawer. Nothing terribly interesting in here either, just quills, ink, blank parchment, all types of office supply materials. He pushed the drawer closed and looked at the drawer to his right.
Sliding it open, he peered inside, now this was a little more like it, he thought. There appeared to be all sorts of little, personal items stashed within this drawer, certainly not items he was accustom to seeing in a desk. He picked up a small vial of nail polish; it was that lovely rose shade that adorned those little toes of hers. Why did she have it in a desk drawer? Placing the vial down, he picked up a little tube that read Vanilla Lip Smacker. He uncapped it and brought it to his nose, it smelled somewhat like vanilla. Reading the side more closely, he saw it was supposed to be flavoured like vanilla as well. He looked around the library again to ensure he was quite alone then dabbed the lip-gloss on his lower lip. He swiped his tongue slowly and carefully across his glossed lip. It tasted somewhat sweet, slick and a little waxy and it certainly did not taste quite as nice as it smelled. Well after all, it was a muggle product, what could one expect?
Putting the tube back in the drawer, he examined the contents further and found a tiny mirror, and hand cream. The cream was labeled Tahitian Vanilla. He twisted the top off to smell the cream. Quite nice, now this he liked, it smelled more like vanilla unlike that muggle lip-gloss. He read the container and saw it was from the Enchanted Salon and Spa. He wondered if they had a vanilla lip-gloss that smelled and tasted like vanilla. This train of thought gave him a few ideas on edible body creams. Perhaps he could talk Snape into developing something along those lines, body creams to delight all five senses, not just taste. Lucius smirked as he replaced the hand cream.
He placed all of her little cosmetics back into the drawer when a sparkle of silver caught his eye. He pulled the drawer out further and picked up a small, silver picture frame. He turned the frame over to see himself smiling wickedly down at her curly, golden, brown head. She lifted her face up to him and he bent down to place a soft kiss on her lips. He stared at the picture, surprised. Judging by their clothing, it was at Draco’s engagement party. Where had she gotten this? Why was it hidden in the back of this drawer? He put the picture back and slowly closed the drawer. He stood up and took the stairs up towards his study. Why did she have that picture, was it evidence of some affection she felt for him? Did she care about him just a little? If so, why was it hidden away in the desk drawer?
Feeling slightly conflicted he found he rather hoped it was a sign of affection however; he also was still rather alarmed that he wanted her affection. He was intensely sexually attracted to her as she seemed to be to him but could he begin to open his heart. He abhorred the idea of being vulnerable in any way. Too much past experience had taught him how weakness could be used to inflict raw and bloody furrows in one’s soul.
Lost in his thoughts he slowly made his way towards his desk and found a wrapped package on his office chair. He rolled the chair from the desk, picked up the package and found an envelope underneath it. The envelope was addressed to him. He sat down and opened it.
You are such a slytherin!
H
Smirking he opened the package. She had framed the picture of Lucius standing with Harry, Ron, Draco and herself in his quidditch box, which indeed had appeared on the front page of the Daily Prophet. She had managed to get her hands on the actual photograph, which meant she had contacted the Daily Prophet photographer. He laughed softly and placed the photograph on the mantle of the lovely, stone fireplace in his study. She had gifted him twice. The first was a visual display of both his and Draco’s association with the famous trio, his original intent. The second was a subtle reminder to him that she knew how the photograph had come to be taken. Gods, he simply adored her shrewd, little mind, the woman should have been a slytherin. His expression quickly turned licentious as he recalled what his small manipulation had led to, his little siren in red. He definitely wanted a word with Severus. He would not be at all surprised if Severus had already developed edible skin treatments of some kind. His old friend had salacious predilections similar to his own. He turned towards his fireplace, lit it and threw floo powder into the flames.

Hermione had soon settled into a work routine that was comfortable for both her and Lucius. He often went with her on the days she worked at the ministry. He had rerouted the library fireplace so Hermione was able to floo in very close to her office. Lucius was particularly pleased because he had to walk by Hermione’s little office to get to the main floor.
She was in a rather foul mood as she gathered her paperwork, sliding it into her briefcase to take home. Kingsley Shacklebolt, damn him, had come by her office today to ask how she and Lucius were getting on. As if he cared a rat’s arse! Well no, that wasn’t exactly fair, she was sure he did care but certainly hadn’t cared enough when he told her she had to go through with the match or else he’d snap her wand in two. She still felt that sharp pain of betrayal keenly and had absolutely no intentions of telling him that she and Lucius were beginning to come to terms. She stiffly told him that she and her husband were getting on as well as could be expected. Kingsley had tried to draw Hermione out into a longer conversation but she rushed him out of her office saying she needed to prep for a meeting on one of her open case files. He actually had the audacity to look hurt! With a sad, little smile, Kingsley left her office.
Hermione plunked back down in her chair. She felt both angry and now a little guilty in how she treated Kingsley. She rubbed her forehead with the heels of her hands. Why should she feel guilty? From her perspective, she was the abused party here. Rather than feeling self-righteous, she felt guilt. Guilt, which now seemed to be prompting her to run after Kingsley. No, no, no, she told herself and shoved the remaining paperwork together into her briefcase. She wanted to talk with Lucius, she was sure he would be supportive. He would understand why she felt the way she did. Hermione stopped suddenly and snorted, Lucius supportive and understanding? She had surely lost her mind. The man specialized in conniving and manipulation. She smiled, he was an extremely clever man, and she greatly enjoyed the continual challenge of pitting her wits against him. He intellectually kept her on her toes and physically off her toes, she sniggered to herself. That giant, twisty brain wrapped up in such a beautiful, golden package. She felt herself flush as she pondered what she wanted to do with his big, golden package. Damn the man.
She stepped out of the library fireplace pleased to be home. She walked towards the library desk, draped her robes on the couch then placed her briefcase on the floor by the desk. She heard masculine laughter float down from the second floor. She kicked off her shoes, plucked her throw from the chair and wrapped it around her shoulders as she walked up the stairs. She stood at Lucius’ study doorway, watching two dark wizards talk and laugh. She was rather shocked, never having seen Professor Snape laugh, let alone smile. They were sitting on Lucius’ couch, imbibing in fire whiskey. She leaned against the doorway mesmerized by the sight. Her beautiful husband and Professor Snape, she hadn’t realized until just this moment how darkly attractive the man was until she saw him smile.
“Can’t hold your liquor I see,” she said with a smirk on her face. “I’m rather surprised given you two were death eaters and all. I thought you could handle all sorts of vices.”
Lucius looked up and smiled warmly at the sight of his bundled up little witch, “I believe you are becoming well acquainted with how very ably I’m able to handle my vices, my dear,” he leered a little wickedly at her.
Severus snorted and rolled his eyes, “For your information, we are not inebriated and Lucius I’d rather not get into any discussion on your abilities.”
Hermione grinned, “Severus, you can ditch that snarky countenance of yours, I saw you laughing with Lucius. I’m still trying to recover from the shock of it.”
Lucius stood up and pulled Hermione into the room. “Severus actually wanted a word with you Hermione.” He ushered Hermione to the couch and sat her down next to Severus. He then sank onto the arm of the couch.
“You wanted a word with me?” she asked with surprise.
“Indeed I did.” looking quite firmly at her he said, “Hermione, I don’t say the following lightly.”
Hermione looked at him with curiosity, “Yes?”
“You are aware of the work I’m doing on extending potion life. Some portions of the work can be quite tedious, time-consuming in fact.” he continued.
“I know.” she said somewhat impatiently. At the rate, the professor was going they’d be here all night.
He looked at her disapprovingly, “You had led me to believe when you were my student, you had patience, Miss Granger.”
“Malfoy.” “Hermione.” Both Lucius and Hermione corrected him simultaneously.
Snape waved a disparaging hand at both of them, “Which ever.”
“I do have patience Severus but at the rate you are going, we will be here hours and hours.” Hermione grumbled.
“Hermione,” Lucius admonished her.
“Well, he’s taking forever to get to the point Lucius and I had a really bad day,” she huffed.
“You had a bad day?” he asked her gently.
“I did and I couldn’t wait to come home and talk with you about it,” she sniffed.
“You couldn’t?” he asked surprised and pleased.
“No, I couldn’t,” she looked up at him with those big, brown eyes.
“Oh Poppet,” he leaned down and wrapped an arm around her. Hermione leaned into Lucius’ embrace breathing him in, feeling all the woe of her day slip off her.
Poppet?!! Snape sat back somewhat appalled and flabbergasted. Suffice it to say, he had never seen his friend look quite so smitten, even when he had been pursuing Narcissa at Hogwarts. He wondered if the wizard was even aware of what showed on his face. Clearing his throat, he put on his best snarky face and said in a disgusted tone of voice, “Lucius, be a good host and refill my tumbler with your most excellent fire whiskey.”
Lucius scowled at Snape and plucked the glass from his fingertips. Severus looked back at Hermione. “I was most impressed with your research work Hermione; I could use such research on the potions I’m currently testing.”
“You want me to help you?” Hermione asked a little dazedly. Well, this was unexpected.
“Yes, that is if your schedule will allow.” He reached out for the glass that Lucius had refilled for him. Taking a deep, appreciative sip, he leaned back. “Give it some thought. I for one would hate to see that potions degree of yours go to waste.”
Lucius smiled to himself as he drained his glass. This was surely one of his better machinations. Severus needed funding to continue his potions work. Lucius wanted Snape to develop edible body ointments to inflame the five senses. Hermione had ably shown her ability for investigatory research, which would free up Severus to focus on testing and brewing. Faster results meant faster time to market. Lucius always intuitively knew investment propositions that would explode into monstrous successes, his mind already quickly calculating the very profitable returns.
“Is that so?” Hermione asked in disbelief. The man was just as much of a slytherin as her husband. “What are the two of you plotting?”
“Excellent question Poppet,” Lucius smiled, thinking about what flavors to anoint her delicious little body with.
Severus and Lucius quickly enumerated the business proposal they had discussed. Hermione was both intrigued and flattered that the two wizards felt she was essential to their success. She also was surprised to learn that both Lucius and the professor held joint patents on several well-known magical potions. Severus was actually quite wealthy due to the royalties from these patents as well as Lucius’ financial acuity in managing Snape’s wealth.
Several hours later after much discussion Severus stood up and made his goodbyes. Lucius turned from the fireplace and pulled Hermione into his arms. “Why don’t you tell me all about your bad day, hmm?” he said in that low, silky voice. Hermione pressed into his warmth and told him. Much to her surprise, he was supportive and understanding.
She lay in bed awake, listening to her blonde giant snore softly in her ear. She was running through a mental list that seemed to change the more time she spent with him. He was such a complex man. He was witty, droll, irritatingly arrogant… he made her laugh, and oh boy, did he make her feel. In his arms she felt the most amazing, mind blowing, voluptuously dark erotic passions, passions she couldn’t have even possibly imagined. She turned on her side to watch him sleep, gently moving a shining lock of hair behind his ear. “Well, damn,” she thought…
A/N:
Thank you so much for your feedback! I’m addicted, I love reading your comments!
Hermione's catsuit:
http://www.murrayandvern.com/shop/mv35.htm
Sampdoria: Hermione loves the fact that he’s willing to play even though he doesn’t have a single submissive bone in his body.
Voracious Reader: I’m delighted you thought the chapter was possibly even better and you are right. Lucius is just as much of a control freak as Hermione.
Heidi191976: Thank you for taking the time to review, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Sailor Sol: I love reviews that start out with OMG. Thank you for reading. I have it in the back of mind to pair up Severus. Naturally, it would be the matrimonial test that would do him in. I don’t know if I see Luna, she seems kind of ditzy for him.
LaBibliographe: Thank you for your feedback on all my chapters, LOVE IT! Leave it to Lucius to not ask if he can find a way to slither to what he wants! Thank you also for your grammatical corrections, I run spell and language check multiple times and think I’ve caught everything when wouldn’t you know it, an error! AHHHHHHHH!
Pensieve Plotter: I am so glad you are enjoying the story. Severus will feature more in the story.
