Dear Daddy,
I have written to Mum but I am pretty sure that she has completely gone bonkers! I don’t want to spend time with the family this summer I would like to stay at Malfoy Manor!

Dear Rose,
I will not ‘fix this’ as you so eloquently put it. I am not going to fight with your mother because of this. When we were approached about this whole marriage contract thing your mother and I were very against it. We decided to agree, with some stipulations of course, because you and Scorpius appeared to be so in love and because you were being so mature. But since the contract has been signed you have been anything but mature.
Don’t think that I did not hear about the fight you gave her when you guys went away for the Easter week. She already told me what happened with your answer about this summer and I am not impressed and I think that maybe this contract needs to be put on the back burner for a little while. I will send you a letter at a later date when your mother and I have worked out what we would like to see in the future months to come.

Ron walked in the front door after a quick knock. He walked through the house looking for Hermione and her guests finding her and the blonde family known as the Malfoy’s sitting in an uncomfortable silence in the formal sitting room. Hermione was on one couch with her head held high, a tea cup in her right hand and her eyes fixed on a far window. Draco and Astoria were sitting on the couch across from her, Draco was looking at a book that was always sitting out for guests on the coffee table trying to ignore the animosity. Astoria was sitting, stiff as a board with her spine so straight it had to be painful, her eyes locked without blinking at the wall.
“Good afternoon, everyone” Ron said slowly. He looked behind him as Lavender came in from the kitchen where she had been collecting tea for everyone. Her curly dark blonde hair was pulled in to a low ponytail and her large blue eyes were nervous looking as she set the tray down “I think we all need to talk”
“Of course” Hermione said pulling herself out of her daze and setting her empty teacup down on the tray “Time to talk”
“What is it that you wanted to talk about?” Draco asked, placing the book back down on the table “I think all was said the other day. Ron I trust that you heard the story about that happened between these two”
“I did” He frowned, he wasn’t used to being the cool-headed person in the room nor was he used to being the smart one that was trying to make everyone happy.
“What happened?” Lavender asked.
“Hermione and Mrs. Malfoy had a…disagreement” Ron said delicately.
“The crazy mud…” Draco nudged her “Muggleborn bitch attacked me”
“You were both in the wrong” Draco said “It turned physical though” He added the last part while looking at Lavender.
“Okay the problem at hand” Ron said nervously “Is Scorpius and Rose” He looked at Lavender who nodded and smiled encouragingly “I think before any decisions are made we should hear out the Malfoys and then us, with Lavender taking notes and then we can work on a solution to the problem”
“Or we can rip up the contract” Hermione said nastily.
“No” Ron said firmly “We made a decision to try this and we will see it through. We can’t threaten to rip the contract up every time we get mad at each other, like it or not if they really want to be together they will be one way or another and we are going to have to learn to either like each other or tolerate each other”
“You have a good point” Draco said “Who should go first?”
“Why don’t you and your wife” Ron offered “Lavender is going to take notes of what we say so we can look it over and address different problems later”
“I don’t like the way you try to make Rose do things she doesn’t want to do” Astoria snapped out causing Lavender to start writing quickly and the boys get ready to jump in case there was a fight.
“I…” Hermione started but Ron told her she would get her chance so she sat back and clenched her teeth.
“I hate listening how she wants to just spend her time studying what’s actually important and not having to experience stupid muggle things” Astoria said “Hermione, your daughter wants to study magic, etiquette, decorum. She wants to know how purebloods differ from muggleborns and half-bloods and how their lives are different from one another” She looked down and Hermione saw her wipe tears away before she looked up “Did you know she wants you to join her classes with me, that she wants you to learn about proper pureblooded marriages and all that so it won’t seem so scary and foreign to you. She said that you can be as prejudice as anyone of us and that you too need to be taught, your daughter wants to learn about the pureblooded world as much as the muggle world”
“Why does it bother you so?” Hermione asked, shocked by the woman’s passion on the subject.
“I love Rose as much as you” She said “And I’m jealous that you have a daughter like her while I have one that hates me and has no interest in learning anything I can teach”
“And you feel that I am taking away Rose’s opportunity to learn by insisting she stay where I am comfortable with her staying?” Hermione asked.
“Yes” She answered.
“Rose is thirteen” Hermione said calmly “I just want her to spend time with her family. Hugo starts Hogwarts in September and he wants to have a summer with the family, I’m sorry you guys but Rose is still part of the family and I want her to be there”
“What if” Lavender said putting down her quill and parchment and looking at everyone “Scorpius went with Rose”
“What do you mean?” Astoria asked.
“Well” Lavender continued “It seems to me that Rose is always going to Malfoy Manor and learning about ‘pureblooded stuff’ but what about Scorpius going camping with Rose, Hugo and Hermione” She looked at her notes “That would give him two weeks to learn about muggle living which is, no matter how you look at it, going to be a part of his life if he marries her. That also gives you two whole weeks with your daughter, take her to a muggle theater, Ronald and I will go with you if you like. Learn about her and maybe that would strengthen your bond with her and give you the kind of relationship that you want so much with Rose”
“What about Africa?” Ron asked “The rooms have been on hold for us since December”
“July, when we go to Africa” Lavender went on “Will give Scorpius time with his family, Rose time with her family and in August they wanted to go to France so she can spend time with Astoria and Draco as well for her lessons”
“I don’t know…” Astoria looked nervous.
“Well the way I see it” Lavender said “We all expect Scorpius and Rose to be mature and act like adults but we aren’t setting good examples, are we?” She looked at the notes “How are they going to handle these situations if all they’ve seen is their parents fighting?”
“You’re right” Astoria said, her face turned pink and she was suddenly very interested in her shoes “I apologize for my attitude the last time I was here, Miss. Granger. I should not have called you a ‘Mudblood’ and your daughter has never said that word” She smiled sadly “I don’t take losing fights very well and I’ve never been able to hold my tongue when I should. What I said about you and Teddy…about your kids being taken away…that was low, even for me” Draco was looking at his wife as if Voldemorts head had sprouted from her shoulder and was singing catchy show tunes.
“I shouldn’t have attacked you” Hermione said quietly “I shouldn’t have called you inbred” Ron snorted with laughter and Lavender hit him in the back of the head “I shouldn’t have been as cruel as I was, not that you weren’t asking for it”
“Okay” Ron said “Can we work the rest of this out then?”
“I think we can” Draco answered “What is your issue with what’s happening?” Lavender picked her quill back up and waiting for Ron or Hermione to begin.
“She is acting like a little snob” Hermione said “She used to write to me about school and tell me how things are going and I don’t expect her to be like that forever but the only time she writes to me anymore is when she telling me that she is going to do something” She shook her head “When she’s home she is snappy and short tempered, she is constantly putting everyone down for stuff that we have always done. I am sick of hearing about how at Malfoy Manor she doesn’t have to do chores, she doesn’t have to share with anyone and isn’t expected to have to clean up after herself”
“I’ve noticed that too” Ron said when Hermione sighed and leaned back on the couch “The breaking straw was when she told my mother” Draco shuddered at the memory of two terrifying months he had to stay at the Burrow while his parents were on trial “That she didn’t like eating with the others in the house because they were like animals…my mother doesn’t even want her to come back there because she is so hurt!”
“I don’t think my wife knew it was getting that bad” Draco said after looking at the shocked look on Astoria’s face “It’s not what we’ve been teaching her, I don’t really teach her anything but I know that Astoria’s only been teaching her to dance, table and tea etiquette and has been telling her some pureblood history as well as half-blood and what she knows the muggleborns including famous muggleborns in our world”
“I’ve never told her to act like that” Astoria said tears filling her eyes “No wonder you hate me!” She broke in to full on sobbing and Draco smiled apologetically “Sorry, we got some news today…let’s just say she’s a little emotional” He made a rounded hand movement over his stomach to show that his wife was pregnant.
“Congratulations” Hermione said “Good luck”
“Another child” She laughed “You should come with is to tell Lucius and Narcissa, she will be thrilled but Lucius may have heart failure”
“My father sees more than one child in the Manor as a waste of space” Draco informed.
“Then point out to him that there will only be two children in the house at all points for under two years before Melena goes to Hogwarts and then only three kids in the house in the summers” Hermione said.
“Good way to think of it” Draco smirked, the rest of the day went a little smoother after that with minimal fighting between the women. By the time the Malfoy’s were leaving everyone was more comfortable with the contract and how they were going to handle Rose.
“Oh Granger” Draco said raising an eyebrow “While we’re here should we discuss you screwing my seventeen year old cousin?”
“I’m not screwing him as you so shrewdly put it” Hermione said then she clenched her teeth slightly “I love him, there’s a difference”
A/N: I hope you like this chapter a little longer than the others have been. I know it’s all Malfoy and blah but the next chapter is gonna be summer with the return of Teddy.
