"C'mon guys, we have to get Dumbledore! They're going to kill her!" Ron was frantic as the three of them made their way down the passageway leading from Honeydukes to the corridor behind the one-eyed witch. Harry had busied himself with studying the map in order to find their best route after reaching Hogwarts: the last thing he needed was to be caught by Filch again and thrown in detention. Hermione was trying to rationalize the entire situation.
"Ron, Dumbledore is away from Hogwarts on business, remember? He's in London with Fudge trying to get rid of these horrid Dementors." Both Harry and Ron shuddered at the mention of Dementors. Harry had fallen off his broom when several attacked him early in the Quidditch season and their shadow constantly loomed overhead like a death knell. Hermione tapped her mouth as she thought, trying to decide what their best course of action was in order to save Tara and keep themselves alive.
The three of them stood in the corridor, unsure of what to do when they heard a sinister voice in the background. Snape. They would land in detention for sure, even though it was a Sunday and they were allowed to roam the corridors on a Sunday afternoon. No, Snape would give them detention for merely looking suspicious. That was his nature. Harry watched the map and, to his surprise, Snape began to walk away in order to chat with Filch on the fourth floor.
"Hermione, we need to find Professor Lupin. McGonagall will just get angry and take care of it herself, Snape's no use…Lupin's the only one who'll care. You and Harry create a distraction and I'll get Lupin. It'll be easier for me to get him because nobody expects it. You and Harry are the brave ones." Ron smiled sheepishly and to his amazement, Hermione and Harry agreed.
"Bubbulous," Hermione said, with an elaborate flourish of her wand. All of a sudden, bubbles and foam grew to cover the entire hallway. Ron had to run quickly to avoid getting covered in them. Hermione put on a delightful face of shock and Harry laughed. He yelled for Filch and saw that several of the teachers came running down the corridor. Hopefully Ron could reach Lupin before he too came to their "aid."
"Before I take points Ms. Granger, what is the meaning of this?" Snape glared at them both, almost as if he expected them to be harboring contraband in their pockets. Hermione continued her shocked act, mumbling something about trying to use a cleaning spell to remove mud from her shoes and saying the wrong incantation. Harry was doing good not to laugh, and continued to focus his efforts that way. Snape was still suspicious, but went to start cleaning up the mess. However, after every attempt to vanish the bubbles, they multiplied by two.
Meanwhile, Ron was pounding on Professor Lupin's door but he wasn't getting an answer. Where could the man possibly be? After about five minutes, Lupin came to the door with his hair disheveled and his eyes hazy and unfocused. He had several long scratches down one cheek and looked extremely tired. Ron was almost sorry to have bothered him, then realized that his situation was urgent.
"Professor Lupin! Tara…I mean, Lachlan! They have her! They're going to kill her! You have to help!" Lupin placed a hand on Ron's shoulder and begged him to calm down. Ron, still wired with equal parts excitement and worry, was not in the mood to sit down and have a nice chat while Tara was probably being tortured at the hands of two men he supposed were followers of You-Know-Who.
"Calm down? CALM DOWN?! They're probably TORTURING her! She was only trying to do the right thing and they're going to KILL her because she KNOWS! She knows where Black is!" Ron was hysterical at this point and the wolf in Lupin was beginning to awaken. Hysteria this close after the full moon was never a good thing. He had to control himself and Ron if they were going to do anything about rescuing Ms. Lachlan. Of course, there was also the Sirius factor. He knew he was innocent, but what about the children? Ron, especially, had been raised to believe that Sirius was the worst kind of criminal…it would take a lot of persuasion to convince him otherwise.
At the moment, he had no indication of where Lachlan was taken from, much less who took her. He needed to get this information from Ron before he could form a plan. It was times like these that he wished that James and Sirius were with him. The three of them were excellent together, a seamless team. For now, however, he had to make due with Ron and, eventually, Harry and Hermione. The three of them never went anywhere alone.
"Ron, who took Ms. Lachlan and where was she when you last saw her?" Ron calmed down slightly, but his hands were still shaking. He didn't know the dark-haired man, but he knew of Lucius Malfoy from his dad. There was no way that Agent Lachlan would come out of there unscathed without Professor Lupin's help. They had to hurry.
"We were at the Three Broomsticks…she was asking me about Sirius Black attacking me when all of a sudden we heard knocking on the door. She made us all get under Harry's invisibility cloak and we snuck out as she talked to them. One was Lucius Malfoy, I'm sure, but the other I didn't know. She looked a little worried, but they cast Imperius on her and forced her back into the room. I don't know what they wanted, but I remember hearing the dark-haired one say that they knew she had Black." Lupin conjured a bar of chocolate and handed it to Ron just as Harry and Hermione burst in, covered in bubbles. Lupin arched a brow but decided not to ask.
"Ron has just told me everything. I know the three of you won't take no for an answer, so I want you to go to this house and await further instruction." Lupin pressed a button on the tiny orb perched at the edge of his desk and a three dimensional hologram of Isobel Kincaid's house. Lachlan had left him with it in case something horrible happened. Ideally, Isobel would be notified of her disappearance and head up the rescue mission from her house. Of course, that ideal rescue mission typically involved aurors from the Ministry, not three thirteen-year-old wizards and a Professor weakened by lycanthropy.

A/N--Anyone still reading this? Lol. Anyway, for those of you who are reading, thanks. I never thought I'd manage to write anything other than vignettes.
