Kindred Passion
CHAPTER 19:
Turning to Seanna, the Elder asked, "What proof do you offer of these pledges?" Miles stepped to the table. "I give you the rings he gave her with each pledge. The one ring was created by Albus Dumbledore, and is designed to fit only Shannon." The Elder examined the rings. "Yes, the power of the pledges rests in the rings." He looked at Seanna, "We will tell you of our decision shortly. In the meantime, guards take custody of the Seif al Nu'man." Seanna bowed, "Forgive me Revered Elder, but I have a petition to lay before you." He looked shocked, "Another one? Very well, Child, what is your petition?" Seanna stood and approached the Elders, "Honored Council, I beg a pardon for Fionn Shaheen of the Fianna and wish him to be set free. His offense was not against me directly, but against he who has since dishonoured me. For the good of the Clan, I beg justice for him." Their eyes met, as the Elder stated, "He is near madness. Is this what you truly desire?" Seanna nodded and said, "I offer my life's blood to aid in restoring him." Albus and Muirinn joined her. Albus spoke, "We also will give our blood in this effort."
The Elders conferred among themselves for a time. Eventually the Supreme Elder stood, "Shannon Kaelyn Shaheen, we grant you the dissolution from Tariq of Clan Seif al Nu'man. And as a gift to welcome you, we grant you the freedom of Fionn Shaheen. Your escort will take you to where you may await him. We wish you well."
As they were led from the room, Mairead gave Seanna a hug, "Why didn't you say anything?" Achak tapped her on the shoulder, "She did." As they entered a waiting area, one of the escorts came up to them. "Healer Mairead, the Council would like to request your presence for a moment." As she entered the Council chamber, the Supreme Elder said, "Thank you for joining us, Healer. This vial is for the colleen, but not until her child has been delivered." Mairead said, "May I ask what it is?" He replied, "By all means. It is a potion that will dissolve all remaining blood ties between her and young Tariq. That is why it may not be given right away." She nodded, "Revered Elder, may I ask if the tests I requested on Fionn have been completed." He shook his head, "It lacks but a day of the results." She replied, "Thank you. May I ask that the same tests be run on Tariq, along with an examination of his mind?" The Elder eyed her, "You think his behaviour was caused by drugs?" Mairead responded, "It is very possible. When Fionn and Shannon's brother took him captive, the brother forced many potions down him. It has seemed strange to those who knew him, that he would attack the two people he loved the most." "Very well, the tests will be done, and I'll have you notified of the results at Hogwarts." He smiled, "By the way, Healer, a warning. The potion for Shannon will also do one very strange thing, in dissolving blood ties, it will restore one of the major ties between them"her innocence." Mairead groaned, "So if she becomes involved with Kindred again"" "Exactly." "Thank you Elder, I will warn her of that." "That's all Healer, thank you."
Mairead returned to the group just as Fionn was brought in, looking very aged. Miles spoke to the guard, "Thank you. We will care for him." Seanna reached out to Achak and he placed a bottle in her hand. As she came toward Fionn, he flinched. "Please Fionn, don't fear me, I want to help you." Seanna had tears in her eyes, "Fionn, drink this. It will help." Mairead took the bottle and, with Miles' help, got Fionn to drink it. Seanna took his hand as she pulled her collar away with the other hand. "Fionn, feed on my blood, please. It will help you." He tried to resist, but the scent of her drove him to tear into her. The others stood in shock, while Seanna made no sound at all. As she paled, Achak yanked him away. "Damn you Seanna!" Ripping his wrist open, he healed her wounds, then forced her to feed on his blood. "At this rate woman, you're going to have more Nosferatu blood in your veins than I do. Albus, get us out of here. Now!"
With that, Albus apparated them to Ronan Shaheen's house, and Muirinn led Achak to a room where Seanna could rest. "When will she learn? Achak grumbled. Mairead appeared, resting her hand on his shoulder. "You know, for as short a time as Seanna has known Sibeal, they are remarkably alike. Both willing to give their last drop of blood to help someone else."
Muirinn entered the living room and told everyone, "Make yourselves comfortable. I'm sure my father will be here soon. I'll go see if we have anything to munch on. Shortly after she disappeared down the hall, the front door swung open, and a tall, dark haired man entered the room. Halting in shock, he asked, "Albus, old friend, what are you doing here?" Dumbledore chuckled, "Just visiting Ronan. We needed a place for your niece to rest and this was my first choice."
"Hello Daddy." Ronan whirled around, "Muirinn, my dear," he held out his arms and she ran into them. Hugging her close, Ronan said, "What niece is he talking about, my little Sibeal." She smiled, "Come with me Da, and you'll understand." When they entered the bedroom, Achak stood. "Da, this is Achak of Clan Nosferatu. Achak, my father." Achak nodded his head to Ronan Shaheen, "Sir." Leading him to the bed, Muirinn saw that Seanna was awake. "Da, this is Shannon Kaelyn Shaheen." He stared at her for a long moment, tears coming to his eyes. "You look just like your mother," he said, taking her hand. "I thought Albus was being delusional. Welcome to Murdoch Castle, Shannon." She smiled, "Albus does occasionally seem that way. Thank you for the welcome Mr. Shaheen." He winced, "Call me Uncle Ronan. Only strangers call me "Mister'. We'll let you rest now. Join us when you feel up to it."
When they returned to the living room, Miles asked, "How is she?" Mairead chuckled, "She's doing fine, but Achak has been leveling curses at her left and right." Albus climbed to his feet, "He what?" She answered, "Don't worry. They are all along the line of "I hope your children give you as much grief as you do me'. He's not very happy about her just about keeling over at his feet." Mairead grinned, "But she IS resting, so that's helpful." Ronan looked at his daughter, "How long have you known Shannon, Muirinn?" She replied, "A month. Why do you ask?" He grinned, "Because she sound EXACTLY like you." Albus and the others began laughing, "He's got you there, Sibeal." She smiled back at her father, "By the way, where is Andrew?" Ronan snorted, "Off chasing another colleen. Where else?"
Fionn sat in the shadows. Seanna was hurting because of him. He knew he had hurt her. He hadn't meant to. Putting his head in his hands, he wished they had left him to the Clan. Injuring an innocent, he was as bad as Tariq. "Fionn," Muirinn spoke, "Don't go there. It was Seanna's choice to help you, and she knew you were unable to help it. Things will be better, you'll see. Now, come join the group." She took his hand, and led him to the others. Albus patted his back, "Welcome back, Fionn. I've missed you."
Soon after Sibeal and her father left, Seanna had fallen asleep. Achak sat and watched over her. A man appeared beside the bed, watching Seanna as she slept, too. Looking up at the Nosferatu, he said, "Yes. She IS of the bloodline. She will stay here." A voice responded from the shadows, "I don't think so." Rionach came into the light just as Albus and the others entered the room. The man replied, "Rionach, the bloodline must be protected, you know that." "Mac Murchadna, you will not spoil this child's life as you have tried to do to Muirinn." He asked, "Who will stop me?"
An implacable voice came from the bed, "I will. I have had enough of people telling me what to do." Seanna lifted her hands, and as she did so, Mac Murchadna attacked. Seanna did not. She simply held a shield over her friends until Mac Murchadna stopped being a threat. Both Muirinn and Albus were amazed. Mac Murchadna appeared to be throwing everything he had at her, but still her shield held. At last, he ceased the attack, shaking his head. "How did you do that? No one has stood up to me in centuries." Seanna shrugged sho shoulders, "I have no idea. It just seemed to happen. But I think it has something to do with the blending of the gifts of Airmed with the witchcraft. It has to be a seamless blending." She released the shield as Muirinn began to chuckle. "Leave it to you, Seanna, to take on one of the most powerful beings in the world, and keep him at a standstill!" Seanna's eyes twinkled as she held out her hand to Achak. When he took it, she smiled at Albus, "See you at home," and the pair vanished. Albus muttered, "Smart ass! You know, I pity anyone who thinks Seanna's a pushover. They're going to be sorry."
Returning to her flat with Achak, Seanna gave Karim a big hug. "I'm free. The Council gave me everything I wanted, and then some." He returned her embrace, "What else did you get, Seanna?" She smiled, "Recognition by the Council as Clan, Fionn's freedom, and Tariq is under their control." As she pushed her hair back, Karim spotted a mark on her neck. Touching it, his eyes flamed. "Who did this to you? Seanna tell me!" Seeing the rage in him, she fled to the bedroom and locked the door. As he headed there, Achak stepped in front of him, "No Karim. You've htenhtened her enough. Please go somewhere and calm down." Staring the the Nosferatu, Karim exclaimed, "Frightened her. Why would I frighten her?" Taking the younger Vampyre by the arm, he dragged him to the sofa, "Remember, it was only last night that she was brutally beaten by a man in a rage. Can you honestly blame her for running when you started?"
Karim felt totally at a loss, "Achak, all I wanted was to protect her from whoever left those marks. I never meant to frighten her. I need to talk to her, to explain why I acted that way. Please, can you ask her to hear me out?" Achak settled back in the chair. "First, I think we need to talk. Those marks were from her helping Fionn. When she asked for his freedom, she pledged her blood to help restore him. Unfortunately, the extra I took with me was not enough to allow him to control. I am sure he feels terribly about tearing into her." Karim thought out loud, "That must have hurt like hell." Achak responded, "You would have never known it. She didn't make a sound, but I really gave it to her after she almost collapsed at me feet. Now, I'll go and see if I can't work out a peace treaty between the two of you."
Knocking on Seanna's door, Achak received no answer. As Karim watched, the Nosferatu opened the door with a burst of magic. Searching the room, he came back out. "Damn that woman! Every time she's emotionally hurting, she runs. We need to find Harry. He'll be able to tell us where she went if it's on school grounds." There was a tap on the door. Achak opened it to see Harry standing there. "Just the fellow we needed. Do you have your special map with you?" Harry said, "Sure. Don't tell me, Seanna took off again! This is getting to be a habit with her. I think that's why I automatically stick the damned thing in my pocket each morning. Going to the table, he spread out the Marauders Map, and drew out his wand. Touching the map he said, "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." As the Vampyres watched, a map of Hogwarts appeared.
At last, Harry saw Seanna's name at the top of Gryffindor Tower. "What the heck is she doing up there?" Tapping the map with his wand again Harry said, "Mischief Managed" and the map disappeared. "I wonder if that's where Albus put her hideaway? She was going to take me there, but hadn't gotten the chance yet." "Thank you Harry," Achak said. "Now we just have to find a way to get to her." Harry smiled, "Let me try. What's the problem?" Achak explained about Fionn's bite and Karim's reaction to it. "He didn't mean to scare her and wants to make amends." Harry smiled, "I'll get her to understand. Give me a little time, say about a half hour, and then come to those stairs." Harry left, preparing to confront Seanna.
When she had fled from the sitting room, Seanna was shaking so bad, her knees almost gave out. She felt the need to get out of the flat, and remembering the sanctuary Albus had given her, apparated to the entrance. After saying the words, she slowly climbed ttairtairs. Once inside the solarium, she sank onto the cushions in tears. At last, she slept, but the dreams began. Tariq, in his madness, Karim's anger, they both made her cry out in fear. Waking in a sweat, she heard Harry, "Seanna, please let me in. I'm alone." Saying the words, she allowed him to enter. As he approached her, he could see her tear-stained face. "Seanna, dear friend, what's wrong?" Dropping onto the cushion beside her, he took her in his arms. "Tell me about it, Seanna, please?"
Telling him of the fear that Karim would be like Tariq, Harry listened with great patience. "Seanna, I've talked to Achak and Karim. Karim is very sorry. He didn't mean to frighten you. It's just that seeing those marks upset him because he wasn't there to protect you. Would you please see him, and talk to him? Achak can be here if you like." Seanna whispered, "All right, Harry, I'll try." He gave her a kiss on the cheek, "Good girl. I'm sure you won't regret it. Now go wash your face, you're a mess." After talking for a while, they heard a tap on the door, "A sad sounding voice said, "It's Karim and Achak. May we come up?"
Seanna let the two men in. When they entered the solarium, Achak said, "Harry and I will be looking out the window at the view, Seanna. We're not leaving you alone until that's what you want." Taking Harry, he left her with Karim. Falling on his knees, Karim whispered, "Forgive me Seanna, I only wanted to protect you. I would never hurt you. In fact, last night, I vowed to your guardian over there, that if I ever hurt you, I would hand myself over to his judgment. Please Seanna, let me back in." As he looked up, she flung herself into his arms, "I'm sorry too, Karim. I should never have compared you to Tariq, but it's only been one day since he hurt me. I got scared by your anger, even though it wasn't aimed at me."
