Chapter 19
--
My son,
Lucius and I will be in the Hogs Head at ten this
evening. Bring her.
I am proud of you.
Father

“Co, we’re going on a little field trip.”
--
Pansy and Blaise were following Raithos and Draco in
awe. That Umbridge woman was a few
steps behind the two leaders, a very blank expression on hece.
They’d been interviewing potential Shadows all day, and had
a nice little list for Raithos. It was
a multi-step process, becoming a Shadow.
First, the potential had to be interviewed by both Pansy and Blaise,
together. They’d found that wear
clo
clothing that revealed the Black Mark served as a wonderful intimidation tool
to weed out the weak ones. The
potentials then had to get past Draco.
Draco could be just as intimidating as Raithos when he wanted to be, and
the potentials were not going to have an easy time of it. Draco was one of those people that could
just smell fear. And he’d no
qualms about using it to his advantage.
The next step was Raithos. He
would be rooting through the minds of the non-Slytherin potentials with extreme
thoroughness, before he even thought about presenting them to his father for
trials.
After each potential was cleared by Raithos, they would
begin training. The non-initiated
Slytherin seventh years were going to be holding the training sessions. This would remain their job even after they
were given the Black Mark. They would
be teaching the potentials the dark arts, as well as Occlumency, which Raithos
had taught them a month ago. He had no
problems with them knowing Occlumency, as none of them were anywhere near good
enough to keep him out of their minds.
When they were seventeen and fully trained, he would take them to a DE
meeting, and put them through the trials, as well as introduce them to the Dark
Lord. The rest would be exactly as it
was for Pansy, Blaise, and Draco.
And now the first batch of potentials was ready to go
through Draco.
Pansy and Blaise were quietly discussing the training
process and the newest recruits as they approached the Hogs Head. They stopped outside for a moment, schooling
their faces into the Slytherin masks to hide their fear. The Dark Lord and Raithos were a terrifying
combination of power. Add to them Draco
and his father, and, well, they were four of the most powerful wizards
alive. Anyone in their right mind would
be just about pissing their pants in fear.
--
He looked around the Gryffindor common room he’d come to
love dearly in his years at Hogwarts.
He was alone in the room for once, something that didn’t happen often,
especially these days. People didn’t
want to be alone anymore, it was too frightening. His thoughts ran rampant through his head.
He’d been approached earlier that day by Blaise Zabini. Blaise was one of the Marked. By the Son.
He’d talked with him for a long time.
About what was going to happen, and about what someone would need to do
to survive in the world following the upcoming war. If there was even going to be a war. He’d no doubt that the Son was powerful enough to avoid a war. The Son could stand against all of Hogwarts
without batting an eyelash or breaking a sweat.
Blaise had told him that it was imperative to have members
of all the houses on the Son’s side. To
help make the world after the war more balanced. It wasn’t going to be a Slytherin’s world, but the only chance
the other houses had of being treated as equals was to side with the Son before
everything was started. Those that
would stand against him were going to be dealt with accordingly.
Blaise had asked him to be a spy.
It went against every Gryffindor bone in his body. To spy against his own was horribly
disloyal. Dishonest. Cowardly.
Slytherin.
But…sometimes it took courage to admit defeat. To know when it was time to give up, to give
in. He’d decided that just a few
minutes ago, and it brought him immeasurable comfort. He stared into the fire for a few more moments.
Yes…he’d tell Zabini he would do it, tomorrow. Because the rest of the Gryffindors were
wrong, they couldn’t stop this awful, awesome, power from gaining control. The Son was invincible. He’d killed Neville in front of the whole
school, and no one had done a thing.
And he knew for sure, he didn’t want to end up like Neville. And Hone.one. And Colin.
Yes, he would do it.

The Hogs Head was a bar for a certain type of wizard. A darker type of wizard. It wasn’t as nice and bright and cozy as the
Three Broomsticks. It was darker,
shadows playing across the tables, deepening in the corners. It was more closed in. The ceiling sd lod lower, everything seemed
to…crouch. There were rooms off
to the sides, for private parties. For
conversations that weren’t meant to be heard.
Like the present one.
“Good evening, my son.”
Raithos walked over to his father and embraced him, a
satisfied smile gracing his lips.
“Pops. I’ve missed
you.”
Voldemort smiled back at his son gently. This boy was truly turning the world upside
down. Even his world had been
overturned. Completely changed. And surprisingly, he didn’t mind it one
bit.
“So, ve bve brought me a little present, have you?”
“Yes I did.
Father…meet Delores Umbridge.
Toad-face…meet the Dark Lord.”
Draco couldn’t help but snort at that, and tried to disguise
it with a cough. His father glared at
him warningly. Draco shrugged, it had
been funny, after all.
Pansy and Blaise stood silently behind Draco, unsure of what
to do. Unlike Draco, they hadn’t spent
most of their life around the Dark Lord, and they were quite intimidated by
him.
“Yes, we have much to discuss tonight,” Voldemort answered,
sitting down at the head of the table.
Raithos was to his right, and Draco, at his. Lucius took the seat opposite Raithos. Pansy and Blaise sat next to him. Umbridge remained where she was, expression still blank.
“Alright Pops, she’s under imperious, and is ready to be
turned over to you. I do have a few
suggestions as to what to do with her though,” Raithos began, looking at his
father for permission to continue.
“Go ahead, my son.
We shall leave her in your control until we leave, you seem to be
handling her very nicely.”
“Yes, she’s pathetically easy to control, seeing as how
she’s a top ministry official. I’ve no
idea how she managed to keep her reputation after the fiasco fifth year. But that is besides the point. The point, is that she is a top
ministry official, and still holds a great deal of influence with Fudge. We know this thanks to Lucius, who has been
an invaluable resource at the ministry,” Raithos paused slightly to nod his
thanks at his other mentor. “I know you
have plans to have her convince the more important members of the ministry
staff to petition for Fudge’s removal.
In addition to this, we can have her seed thoughts of support for you
and I, as well as thoughts of doubt towards Dumbledore. Little hints here and there about the truth
will spread like wildfire through the ministry, and therefore the Prophet. It could push up our timetable by
months. If stories about Dumbledore
start appearing in the Prophet, he’ll no doubt begin to turn to Severus even
more.
“Not to mention the good it will do to have someone in her
position supporting us. Once Fudge is
sacked we’ll have her round up support for a Minister of our
choosing. Once the ministry is under
control, there aren’t many strongholds left besides Hogwarts. And Draco and I have that covered. Wen>We can dispose of her once her purpose has
been served.”
Voldemort stared at his son, marveling at the man he’d
become in such a few short months. He
had quite a head for strategy now, much of that Draco’s doing he was sure. He was quite ruthless, a trait he was
extremely proud of. Raithos was by no
means soft. He was the epitome of a
world leader, Voldemort mused. A true
heir.
“Yes, I do believe that will work,” he said. “We will use her until she becomes a burden
to our plans. Lucius, what do you think
of all this.”
Lucius smiled proudly.
Raithos had turned into quite the leader. And he could tell by the smile on Draco’s face that his own son
had much to do with the plans just mentioned.
“My Lord, I believe the plans are wonderful. It will clear up much of the resistance
we’ve been having at the Ministry.
Umbridge came back from Hogwarts two years ago claiming to have been
under some sort of curse that took away her common sense. Since then, she’s been Fudge’s darling, and
for some reason others listen to her. I
believe it is because get gets their ideaard ard by Fudge. She is the only one he really listens to
nowadays. She will be a valuable
resource.”
“Wonderful.”
Pansy and Blaise listened to the conversation in awe. This was really happening. The takeover their parents had been
whispering about since they were babies.
And they were a part of it. The
world was going to change drastically, and for the better.

A/N: So, how did you
like the plans? And who do you think
the Gryffindor spy is? I’ll give you a
cookie if you guess right! Well, I’ll
give you an imaginary cookie if you guess right. Heh.
Next: Who’s the
Gryffindor spy? What’s going to happen
in potions? What happened with Remy and
Snape? Inquiring minds want to know!
