The Snake and The Lioness

A/N: I know it\'s a short chapter, but what can you expect?

Adrienne popped into her room. She ran to the bathroom and turned on the lights. She couldn\'t believe it. She would be Mrs. Malfoy. Mrs. Lucius Malfoy. She smiled until her mouth hurt. She peeled off her clothes and jumped into her bed. She fell asleep with that smile plastered on her face.

\"Adrienne. Adrienne wake up.\" Adrienne heard someone call. She rolled over and opened eyes slowly.

\"Lucius, I am....Christian? What are you doing at Lucius\' house?\" She asked, confused.

\"I\'m not at Lucius\' house. Neither are you.\" Christian said.

Adrienne looked around. The sun was shining through the windows and She was indeed in her room. It had all been a dream, she sighed.

\"Adrienne are you okay?\" Harry asked from across the room. Adrienne had just noticed him.

\"Yeah, I\'m alright.\"

\"Good. Then what is that on your finger?\" Christian asked.

Adrienne looked down at her left hand. It hadn\'t been a dream. \"Well, Lucius proposed. I said yes.\"

\"You did what?!\" Both wizards asked loudly.

\"I said yes. So what? Christian you said I could not have complete freedom with Lucius until he married me. Now, he has proposed.\"

\"So, he is marrying you so I would let you move in with him?\" Christian asked, his voice rising over his normal soft, but masculine tone.

\"No. Listen, I am not going to sit here and discuss this with you. I said yes and that\'s all to it. I expect you both to be happy and support me. If not, I don\'t need you in my life.\" Adrienne said angerily.

Christian was about to say something, but Lucius Malfoy\'s head came through the fireplace.

\"If you will excuse me, I have a call. See you two later.\" Adrienne said, ushering them to the door. They were both too stunned to protest.

Once they left, Adrienne turned to the fireplace. \"Luc, floo. They are going to be too busy arguing over me to realise you\'re here.\"

\"Alright. I\'ll be there in a few minutes. I have to do something quickly.\" Lucius said, pulling his way back into the fireplace.

A few minutes later, Lucius appeared with a dozen long-stemmed, black roses. \"Here you go.\" He said as he handed them to her.

\"Thank you. So, how did it go at the Minstry?\" Adrienne asked anxiously.

Lucius then got a sorrowful look on his face and Adrienne started to think something bad had happened at the Ministry. \"It went okay. I have something else for you, too.\"

Adrienne looked amazed. \"More presents?!\"

\"Well, it\'s not really a present from me, but.....\" Lucius handed her a small box. \"...just open it and you\'ll get it.\"

Adrienne opened the box, lifting off the silver-coloured ribbon and lace. There was a picture of her and Draco at the Yule ball. The one he had gotten Colin to take. She looked at Lucius, who nodded his head for her to go on.

There was two books that had been shrunken, but she could read the words very clearly. The Diary of the Relationship of Draco Malfoy and Adrienne Fleur. The other book was entitled: Poems inspired by Adrienne Fleur by Draco Malfoy. Then there was a shrunken photo album of all the magical (and a few muggle) pictures that they had taken. Then there was a letter entitled: Goobye, My Dear Adrienne.

Adrienne was confused. \"What is all this?\"

\"Well, this stuff was in a small chest they returned to me today.\" Lucius pulled out a shrunken silver chest out of his pocket. \"There was a letter inside. It said that whoever picked this up is to give it to you. So, that\'s what I\'m doing.\" He pointed his wand at the chest and performed the enlargement charm on it. It was back to normal size. He sat it on her nightstand.

\"I can\'t believe this. He left this to me?\" Adrienne asked herself. \"Gods, from the title of this letter it seemed that he knew he would die.\" She turned to Lucius.

\"Yes. Well, after Voldemort found that he was seeing you he told the death eaters to be on look out for him and to bring Draco to him as soon as possible. I told Draco what Voldemort was doing and am guessing he wrote this, knowing that Voldemort would kill him.\"

\"But Voldemort didn\'t know about us. He couldn\'t have.\" Adrienne said, flipping through the pages of one of the books.

\"He found out from Seve. That was another Death eater. He saw you two together one night. I think at the Hogshead or something. He told me, but I didn\'t seem to have done anything. Actually, that\'s when I told Draco he had to stop seeing you. Anyway, Seve went ahead and told Voldemort. That is how he came to find out.\" Lucius said, almost regrettingly.

\"I can\'t believe it. He loved me so much.\" Adriene said sadly. \"I feel so guilty. Being with you when I should be mourning him.\"

\"See, that\'s why I didn\'t want to give this to you. I knew you would start feeling all .... complicated.\" Lucius shouted.

\"Stop shouting. My brother will come up here again and I don\'t feel like discussing any of my life with him. You shouldn\'t feel bad Lucius. I\'m sorry. It\'s just that sometimes I feel so....guilty about liking or even thinking about another man.\" Adrienne said, slowly. She came up to Lucius and gave him a hug.

\"It\'s understandable. Anyway, I must be going. See if you can come over AND stay the whole night. I would hate to wake up alone tomorrow morning.\" Lucius leaned over and gave her a kiss before disappearing through the fireplace.
