Sorry to have kept you wondering and waiting if Severus will man up and face Hermione. We also hear from Ron, and Ginny comes up with a great idea that actually was Hermione's in the first place...I'll stop rattling on and let you start reading for yourself.
Living Chapter 19:
Hermione lay in her bed sniffling as she wondered what she had done to scare Severus off. She thought they had made such progress. Now when she needed him the most, he had run away like a scared child. Harry had left earlier to try and convince him to return, but she wanted Severus to come back because he wanted to, not because he felt pressured to. Ginny had left a while ago to find the loo, leaving Hermione hopelessly lost in her miserable thoughts.
The door swung open interrupting her wool gathering. Hermione glanced up expecting to see Ginny, but instead stood an apprehensive Severus Snape. His eyes were peeking from behind his long locks of hair covering his face. He distanced himself by standing at the door as he observed her. His hand was rubbing the arm where she knew the faded Dark Mark still rested. She sat silently waiting for him to say something. He cleared his throat before he walked towards her bed.
All of a sudden, Hermione felt very nervous as Severus stood there just staring down at her. Why was he not saying anything? His dark eyes were searching her face for something. She bit her lip and started playing with the loose thread on her blanket. She felt a pair of strong hands cover hers that stopped her twitching.
"I'm sorry Hermione." Severus's gloomy face showed his feelings well. "I never should have left you alone like that." His voice trembled as he spoke softly to her.
"Severus, I don't blame you at all." Her hand came out to cup his face as she leaned forward to kiss the solemn man. She wanted him to know of her love and forgiveness. He responded back fully as his arms encircled her as he leaned onto the bed. Hermione could smell the liquor on him, but knew he was sober now. What had he done when he left her?
"Please don't ever run away from me like that again. I need you right now," her voice cracked as she tried to hold back the tears. She wanted to appear strong to him…for him. "We are in this together and we'll find out who is truly responsible for my accident."
"Oh, my beautiful girl," Severus once again gathered her in his arms. His lips trailed kisses down the side of her neck as she arched into him. Her chest pressed tightly against his solid form, as his kisses continued making a pathway down to the hollow of her neck. After they had fully made up, Severus cradled her in his arms where they both soundly slept.
Hours later Harry and Ginny returned to find the couple wrapped in each other's arms..
"Nice job Harry." Ginny reached up to give him a kiss.
"It's what friends do, even if it causes me to have a stomach ache." Harry winked at Ginny. He might not have been happy at first with Hermione and Snape together, but he could see how good they were for each other. Who was he to deny someone else's happiness?
Ginny reached for Harry's hand, "Let's head back to Hogwarts. I'm tired and need some sleep. Then we need to meet and try and help them figure out who is up to no good."
"Agreed." Harry kissed the top of her head and led her out of the hospital room.

It was around noon that Ginny and Harry finally made their way to the Great Hall for brunch. Being a Saturday turned out to be the best part of the day. They were able to rest, shower and now eat before they had to think about more important things.
They sat down next to Ron, Seamus and Neville. It appeared that everyone around them was tired. No one was talking at the Gryffindor table, besides Lavendar and Parvati who were giggling over the newest issue of Witch Weekly.
Ron didn't say a word to them, or even glance their way. Harry looked over to Ginny, raising an eyebrow in question to Ron's strange behavior.
"Hey, Ron," Harry tried to get his attention. "What's up with you this morning?"
Ron turned to look at him with a glare. "Maybe I should be asking you the same question." Harry, Ginny, and everyone else at the table did not miss the venom heard in his voice.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, brother?" Ginny didn't like his tone.
"What's it to you if I did?" Ron spoke back harshly.
Harry bristled at his reply, "That's no way to talk to Ginny. If you have a problem, why don't you spit it out?"
"Maybe you should tell everyone where you, Ginny and Hermione were last night?" All eyes rested on the trio who were currently speaking loud enough for the whole Great Hall to hear their argument.
Harry stood up grabbing Ginny's hand, "Ron, this isn't the place to get into things. If you want to talk reasonably in private follow us."
Before Ron could answer back, Harry and Ginny had left the table and walked out the door. Ron's frown and menacing look stopped anyone else from questioning him about the odd conversation that had just taken place between him, his sister, and his best friend. Ron slapped his hand on the table spilling his pumpkin juice, and jumped up from the table. His long strides carried him angrily out of the hall.

Hermione opened her eyes and gave a great sigh. She had slept well, and her body now only had a few aches and pains. Stretching her arms over her head, her hands collided with something, and looking over to the "something" she recognized that it was Severus. She smiled when she realized he'd stayed with her the entire night. His even, deep breathing showed he was still in a deep sleep. Hermione snuggled back into his arms. After everything that had happened, he was still here with her now. It was funny how grown men could look so innocent in their sleep. She knew the man lying next to her would never be considered innocent, but he had paid his dues the past twenty years. He deserved to have some happiness and Hermione hoped that she could be a part of bringing that happiness to him.
As Hermione lay running her fingers through Severus's fine hair, Harry, Ginny and Ron came barging into her hospital room with the door hitting the wall. To say Hermione was surprised would be an understatement. Harry was in the lead holding Ginny's hand, while Ron came stomping in, arms folded and a frown on his face. He sent a fiery glare to Hermione at seeing Severus in her bed. The door banging woke up Severus and he slid off of Hermione's bed. He stood groggily by her side trying to get his bearings. He sent a glare back to Ron seeing that Ron was doing the same to him.
"Fancy seeing all of you here in my room?" Hermione tried to lighten the mood, though she knew that the upcoming conversation was going to be anything but light. The tension in the room felt heavy and hot. Seeing Ron there also meant that something had happened that would change their plans.
"I'm assuming this intrusion means that Mr. Weasley knows something of what happened last night." Severus always liked getting straight to the point. "How much does he know Mr. Potter?" He stood tall in his most intimidating pose, his eyes never leaving Ron.
Hermione looked between the two men, knowing that things could get out of hand quickly with both of their tempers.
"How long has this been going on between you two?" Ron's eyes squinted as he motioned back and forth between Hermione and Snape.
Hermione glanced over to Severus next to her seeing him pressing his lips tight together. Out of all the people at Hogwarts, why was it Ron who had seen what had happened last night? Hermione tilted her head studying Ron. A terrible feeling came to her as she wondered if he had something to do with her accident.
"Ron, please tell me you didn't have anything to do with what happened to me last night?" Hermione questioned. She knew that she and Ron had been at odds with each other so far this year, but…they had been friends for so many years.
Harry looked between his friends seeing the direction where this was heading. "Honestly Hermione, I don't think he did. Right Ron?" Even Harry sounded like he was questioning their long time friend who had been part of their trio since first year.
"Of course I wouldn't hurt you Mione. You should know that." Ron's answer came out half whinge and half pleading.
"Where were you last night when you saw…?" Hermione still was unsure of Ron.
"I was hiding behind a tapestry when I saw Snape, Harry and Gin down by the main doors. You all had your wands out looking like you were ready to fight someone." Ron's words came out quickly. Hermione looked around the room at each of them to see if what Ron was saying was truthful, being that she had been out cold at the time.
"As I stood there I saw all of you run up the stairs past me towards the second floor. Then I followed you and saw when you found Mione." Hermione felt like his words rang true.
"Well, Harry…Severus, is he right? Did it happen like he said?" Hermione was willing with all of her heart that what he said was true.
"Yes, that's accurate," Severus said first. "We were trying to accio your wand to hope to find the direction where to go to find you."
"You know the Muggle term of looking for a needle in a haystack? Well, that's what it felt like trying to find you in the castle." Harry explained getting a grin from Hermione.
"See Mione? I would never hurt you like that. I mean, I say dumb things all of the time that hurt you, but I would never do something that would, well…" he motioned towards her, "I would never want to see you almost die." His sad face relieved Hermione.
"Come here Ron," her arms reached out to him. He bounded over to Hermione and she pulled him into a hug. He whole-heartedly hugged her back. She could sense Severus grimacing at her side. Ron stepped back and walked back over to safety by Harry and Ginny. He knew the Potions Master well enough that the look headed in his direction wasn't friendly.
"I think we're safe to update Ron on what's been happening in the castle," Hermione said. "Harry go ahead."
"Why me?" Harry asked.
"You're the one that got bashed in the head so it's your story to tell," Severus said accompanied with a smirk.
Harry gave a sigh, "Ok, pull up a chair."

An hour later after each of them telling their part of the story, Ron knew as much as they knew.
"Blimey. The trouble never ends for us, does it?" Ron shook his head when Harry had finished talking.
Severus snorted in laughter; "I've been saying that about you three for the past seven years." Hermione reached out to grab his hand and smiled.
"So, what do we do next? We can't just keep getting bashed in the head and thrown off staircases." Ron looked at each of them. "Whoever is doing this is getting more serious in trying to get their point across."
"If their point is to kill one of us, they came pretty close to that yesterday." Ginny spoke up. "But, I do have an idea to keep tabs on each other closer." Everyone leaned in to hear Ginny's idea. "Think back to when the D.A. was active during your fifth year, how did we communicate when that ugly toad was ruling Hogwarts?"
"The charmed Galleon! That's brilliant Ginny!' Hermione bounced in her bed. "We'll change them up a little so we can send a more detailed message, instead of just a date and time like the old ones did."
"So that's how you all snuck around behind that bitch's back." A chuckle came from Severus, almost scaring Ron never having heard the man laugh before.
"We also need to make sure that we only travel in pairs. Right Hermione?" Harry asked looking directly at her.
"Yes, Dad I promise." Hermione rolled her eyes at him, knowing that what he said was important.
"It's time to also bring Minerva in on what's happening. She can be trusted and may be able to see something we haven't." Severus said. The others started to protest but were cut off, "No, we should have told her from the beginning what was going on."
"But how are we going to explain about us?" Hermione asked in a whisper. "You could lose your job Severus. That's what we were worried about."
Severus stood up to grab onto Hermione's hands. "I guess we'll have to take that chance; but knowing Minerva like I do, she'll be more worried about catching whoever is doing this. We'll have to deal with the consequences of us being together later."
"So, we all promise to work together? Are you in on this with us mate?" Harry looked over at Ron.
"I'm in." Ron said. "You can count on me." He walked back over to Hermione's bed. "I'm sorry for the way I've been acting Hermione. Forgive me?"
"Of course Ron." Hermione said giving him a smile, despite the glowering Severus standing next to her. "Now, I want out of here. Will someone go see if they'll release me?"
Severus kissed the top of her head, "I'll return shortly with a healer. In the meantime, you three return to Hogwarts before you get me in trouble for having students out of school on a non-Hogsmeade day."
He walked out of the room hearing the remaining occupants laughing at his words. None of them saw the grin that was on the normally stern Potion Masters face as he left.

From here on out you will see more action from all of them. They will not be the victims any longer. It's about time, right? So are you glad that Ron is innocent or do you think it's a cover? Oh, I want to know what you are thinking about them bringing Ron into their plans. Thanks again for all of those who have been reading and reviewing. I appreciate you so much! Take a minute to review if you can!
