Once the train stopped at Hogsmeade Hermione was awakened by Ginny, smiling at the red head Hermione tiredly followed her friends out of the train. Silently she watched as the students boarded the Thestral driven carriages. The nervous energy was nearly drowning as students clung together as they hurried to their carriages.
Realizing she separated from her friends Hermione scanned the crowd, white hair quickly caught her eye. Once she got closer to the warlock Hermione quickly realized she was surrounded by green. Never in her six years at Hogwarts has she ever found herself in this setting. Without realizing it she walked into the middle of the Slytherin camp so to speak. Doing her best to keep her chin high and hide her sudden feeling of nervousness at the stares around her Hermione gently tugged on Draco's robe. The tall Slytherin immediately stopped talking to Zabini and turned around, Hermione felt her stomach flop when he gave her a smirk.“Hey princess how was your nap?” Crossing his arms he leaned his long body against the carriage as he spoke. “Potter was damn near foaming at the mouth while Weasel Boy threatened to hex anyone who came within distance.”“I can't believe they would act that way after everything you have done.” Sighing she stepped closer. “I am so sorry about them, I am going to have to have a serious discussion with them tonight.” she was thinking of what to say to Harry and Ron as she absentmindedly put her hand on top of Draco's.“Uhhgg!! Take your filthy hands off Mud blood!” Hermione cringed at the familiar shrill nasal voice of Pansy Parkinson. Hermione stepped back slightly as Pansy squeezed herself between her and Draco. With a hands on her hip and the other pointing at Hermione she looked at Hermione in disgust. Hermione always thought Pansy Parkinson could be very beautiful but she had a horrible habit of walking around as if she always smelled something foul. Everything seemed to disgust her and at the moment Hermione was the source. Pansy opened her red lips, to most likely say something offensive, but was cut short when long pale fingers wrapped around her arm and yanked her sideways. With a small yelp Pansy stumbled out of the way.“Parkinson.” Draco's threatening snarl left no room to question his current mood.“But...” Dramatically rubbing her arm she started to argue, however she was cut short yet again when two other Slytherin girls stepped in front of her.“Shut up Parkinson! Granger and Draco saved all of our asses today.” The shorter girl with straight brown hair that Hermione recognized as a 7th year, looked at Pansy with a dare to say anything else. Hermione was amazed at the level of aggression in the house. Any minute these two girls looked as if they were going to start dueling but Draco and Zabini watched unfazed.Jostling of carts interrupted her thoughts, the carriages were leaving Hogsmeade. Worried that she might be left behind she quickly scanned the diminishing crowd for the familiar Gryffindors. A large hand on the small of her back gently turned her back towards the carriage. Looking up she saw Draco still smirking. With his hair loose it hung down to his shoulders, while some of the shorter pieces in the front grazed his cheeks, perfectly framing his strong jawline and piercing gray eyes. Still studying his powerful profile her eyes traveled down towards the pale pink lips. Mesmerized she watched the smirk grow wider until she could partial view his white teeth, a set of teeth her parents would be proud to analyze. Her silent gasp cut short her thoughts when she watched the canines grow to a point before her eyes. Quickly looking back up she received a suggestive wink from the blonde. “Come on Princess ride with Zabini and I,” the hand on her back gently pushed her to step up on the step. With one last look around she saw that they were the last to board, smiling she nodded as she climbed inside the vehicle. Never in her life would she had imagined she would be riding back to Hogwarts as the only Gryffindor in a carriage full of Slytherins. With the exception of the brooding Pansy Parkinson in the corner the experience wasn't that bad. The energy was still nervous as to be expected from the attack. But there was something else, a sense of fear and anger. Hermione was not naive enough to believe that most of the people in this carriage along with the rest of the Slytherin house wasn't somehow connected to a Death Eater of some sort. With that being said she could feel the betrayal and the realizations sweep over the house. They were just as much a part of this war as the rest of the wizarding world. Voldemort was willing to kill them just for his own gains. Sighing Hermione tried to shake the depressing thoughts from her head. For now she wanted to think of something else. Looking to her side she looked up to see Draco speaking with Zabini, Elsey another 7th year, and Goyle about the upcoming quidditch games. As if sensing her listening in, Zabini turned towards her.“Are you prepared to see the house of Gryffindor be crushed this year?” Zabini smiled handsomely, a smile that was sure to drive most women wild. The moment he asked her everyone seemed to quiet down, curious to see how the lone Gryffindor would respond. Clearing her throat she replied. “Honestly I could care less about quidditch.” The gasp was expected, the groan from Draco was just overboard in her opinion. With her chin held high she continued, “Don't get me wrong I think it is exciting enough. But frankly once you have seen a couple you have seen them all in my opinion.”That was the undoing.88888Zabini was proud to say that he has witnessed the Slytherin Sex God Draco Malfoy, fall at the hands of the Gryffindor Princess. With a sick infatuation Blaise watched as the argument turned from eight offended Slytherins to just Draco and Granger. Defiant eyes stared back at the ranting Slytherin seeker.“Remind me Zabini to get Princess here a Slytherin schedule, obviously watching all of those atrocious Gryffindor games has warped her opinion on the sport.” Even though Draco was speaking to him, his gaze was locked on the petite bookworm beside him.“Draco! I can't root for the Slytherin team!” her tone implied that he was suggesting mutiny, “I will be hexed to death by my own house.”“Hex the Gryffindor Princess, I won't hear of it.” a Slytherin further down the carriage sniggered.“Come on princess,” ignoring her slight pout, Draco smiled lasciviously, a smile that Blaise was all too familiar with, it was a smile that literally made women weep.
Watching intently, Blaise was determined to not only watch the infamous bookworm's reaction to the powerful seduction tool, but to try and figure out, as well as everyone else, what the hell was going on. The initial shock of the attack had already worn off, leaving the student's familiar with the two saviors confused. What the hell happened between these two enemies? Why were they so powerful? What was up with their wands? Questions on top of other questions were being whispered everywhere. During the remainder of the train ride, Draco didn't say much, he simply stared out the window. Although curiosity was high among the students, no one dared voice their questions to the stoic Slytherin. “We are supposed to be partners for life,” at this point pretty much the whole carriage was straining hear the conversation. Draco eyed the back of her stiffening shoulders, as he continued. “How can we truly get to know each other if we don’t take a personal interest in each others past times.”Turning slowly from the window Hermione uncrossed her arms and smiled at Draco, Blaise watched Draco's eyes narrow in suspicion. “Then I should hope to see your support in S.P.E.W this year.”And as quick as that Blaise watched the great Draco Malfoy fall at the tiny feet of Hermione Granger as he conceded with half groan half mumble.Once their bickering died down, low murmurs of conversations between students filled the carriage. Due to their seating arrangement Blaise was seated directly in front of Hermione. Just as everyone else in the carriage his eyes kept drifting towards the bookworm, whom at this point was reading some old tome.Casually he let his dark gaze observe the girl, he noticed that her long brown curls pooled delicately on the seat around her small figure. Absently Blaise reminded himself how much he enjoyed long hair on women, and her hair was the perfect length to wrap his fist around. Each thought while observing the reading Gryffindor danced dangerously closer and closer to the edge of arousal. Blaise also noted how petite she was compared to everyone else, a cool smirk ghosted his lips when he realized how alluring small frames were against his taller one.At this point his stares had long since turned away from curiosity. Letting his gaze wander, he wasn't surprised to find her uniform skirt unaffected by creative tailoring charms that were popular amongst other girls. Although what he did find surprising, and very pleasing that his hawk like observation skills were still a trait to be proud of, was a healthy sized breast swell from beneath her crisp white shirt. He liked that feature very much.A sharp jolt in the carriage broke the trance from her book, causing Hermione to pitch forward. Lifting his arms, ready to brace her fall, his eyes widened slightly as Draco's seeker reflexes quickly allowed him to steady the witch. Sitting back Blaise eyed the two students' reactions.Draco's hand was still on Granger's stomach, causing a slight almost unnoticeable blush. The sweet genuine smile that thanked the normally stolid Draco caused him to immediately remove his hand before turning back to his previous conversation. Before Balise could judge Draco's uncharacteristic reaction, his attention was suddenly captured in a death hold. Sweet creamy, untouched and very foreign skin met his gaze.Blaise quickly concluded that the only reason why his eyes were blessed with this small treat was due to the disruption to the carriage moment earlier. Smooth creamy thigh peeked innocently from beneath the knee regulation skirt, which had risen high above her knees. Being the Slytherin he was he let his mind trail even further down road that no one has ever traversed with the bookworm in mind.Damn her legs looked smooth, Blaise thought as he continued to observe, he could only imagine what her delicious reaction would be to him gently grabbing her knees and forcing them apart.Without warning his thoughts were interrupted as searing pain shot through his head. Clutching his head in his hands he screwed his eyes shut and let out a strangled groan hoping to will the pain away.“Zabini are you ok?” The Gryffindor's voice mingled with various other voices in the carriage.Opening his eyes hesitantly, Blaise noticed the pain had ebbed away, just leaving a slight headache in it's wake. After reassuring everyone that he was fine, he leaned back into the seat with a deep exhale and looked up to meet a very chilling gaze.Draco Malfoy, his long time best mate, sat across from him with an expressionless facade while his normally gray eyes burned black.Goosebumps started to race across Blaise's body. Looking into the demonic eyes Blaise knew where the mysterious pain came from and why. Sitting with his long legs stretched out and one arm stretched across the top of the seat behind the still worried Hermione, Draco's fierce gaze conveyed the unspoken warning.Silently nodding his understanding, Blaise turned away from the Gryffindor for the remainder of the trip.88888“Is it safe to say that your hatred for Potter has increased.” Blaise chuckled darkly toward Draco, minutes after they witnessed the announcement of the new Head Boy and Head Girl. Disgustedly he watched Potter and Granger stand next to Dumbledore as the dining hall was filled applause. Draco would have laughed at Hermione's deep blush, but Potter's proximity to the blushing bookworm was irksome to say the least. The guy's infatuation has turned from subtle to outright annoying. Draco felt the muscles in his jaw twitch violently when Potter boldly attempted to hold Hermione's hand as they prepared to sit back down. Thankfully Dumbledore's following announcement interrupted the foolish act.Potter's horrified face was a sweet payment when Dumbledore announced the permanent partnership between himself and Hermione. There wasn't much of an explanation provided to the school as to why, but no one seemed to care when he reminded everyone how thankful they should be towards them for their acts of bravery earlier that day. At that point Draco did laugh at Hermione's obvious embarrassment. After the feast Hermione and Potter followed Dumbledore to their new rooms.888She should have been used to the wonders of magic by now, but every year it seemed to take her breath away. The head dormitory was absolutely stunning. A large study with two fireplaces on either side greeted them when entering. A large staircase sat in the middle splitting at the top to what she assumed were the bedrooms. But her favorite so far was the large oval lattice window in the middle of the stairway that overlooked the Hogwarts grounds. Absolutely stunning.
“As you can see the bedrooms are through these doors. Your room, Mr. Potter, is on left. And for you Miss Granger follow me I have special instructions for your room.”Hermione didn't get a chance to look back at Harry before the door to her room shut behind them.“I know you would like to get settled Miss Granger so I will be quick,” walking to the opposite wall the headmaster stopped in front of beautiful blue painting with white flowers. Frowning a little Hermione walked a little closer to view the piece. It was very large to be just an ordinary painting.“Is it a door?” The twinkle in his eyes and the soft smile told her she was right. Just as she was allowing the familiar rush of pride sweep through her at her ingenuity the painting began to change.A large silver dragon with black eyes pushed itself through the gentle white flowers until he took up the entire portrait.“It should go without saying who this door goes to and why,” Hermione was positive her face was bright red, she knew she should not be surprised at the Headmaster's knowledge of her new sleeping arrangements, but it was embarrassing nonetheless. “but I will inform you Miss Granger, you are the only one who can open this door.”Nodding at the headmasters veiled advice, she stepped forward instinctively touching the dragon. An audible click resounded before the massive portrait swung open.Draco's powerfully lean figure leaned against threshold with bonds hands braced on either side of the doorway.“Hey there, love.” Turning from the heated quicksilver gaze, she was surprised to find that they were the only two in her room.“Just you and me Princess, just like old times.” the depth not only in his voice but in his words shook her usually calm core. A wave of nervousness suddenly washed over her, knowing her partner's talent for picking up strong emotions she quickly busied herself in her trunk that was by the door instead of analyzing the odd foreign sensation he was causing.“Did you like your rooms? What are they like? I know that the Slytherin rooms are located in the dungeons underneath the lake but I must confess I am curious to know what they look like.” At this point she was rambling as she rifled through her trunk but she didn't care.“Same old boring room and roommates I had last year.” His voice was laced with is usual sense of ennui as contemplated his living quarters while observing hers. The gentle creek of the bed shifting behind her signaled Draco's new location. Turning from her clothes Hermione silently observed as Malfoy's gaze assessed the room. The hard expression on his face partially covered by the white veil of hair was indiscernible. The glimpses of his face she could see from her angle looked as if that had been set in stone. It was times like these she could hardly tell what he was feeling. From the extra large bed his gaze steadied onto the door connecting to the common room before finally settling on her. A sizzle of awareness floated down her spine at that moment.“Sorry Princess I just don't think I can sleep well at night knowing this place doesn't have the proper Malfoy Wards in place.”She barely had time to process his words before his scepter appeared pointing at the ceiling. How dare he!“Oh no you don't.” Hermione lunged towards his outstretched arm. Unfortunately there was no forethought as to how that action would position her on top of the man. Her feet barely touched the floor, while her stomach and torso lie askew directly on top of his much firmer stomach. However Draco's continued spell casting, forced her to forgo her modesty and renew her efforts to catch the offending arm.“Draco stop! I do not want you placing your dark twisted wards on MY room.”His deep laughter vibrated heavily from his position beneath her. “Sorry no can do, I feel that I am entitled to look after you Princess and these wards will give me peace of mind.” The hand that wasn't holding the silver scepter was currently encircled around one of her wrist. While he held the scepter high above his head causing her to reach flat across his body for it. The more she struggled the further she became draped completely on top of his body.Between the frenzied struggle, his laughter and her various commands of stop infused with her own laughter they were both completely shocked at the third voice. “What the hell do you think you're doing!?!” Harry's voice had the same effect as a bucket of ice water. Standing in the doorway Harry's eyes gleamed with fury.“Harry I...Oh!” Draco's hands moved to her waist simultaneously pulling her beneath him smoothly switching his positions. With one hand braced beside her head on the pillows and the other holding his scepter with deadly accuracy at Harry. Unfortunately Draco's new position did nothing to help Harry's anger, only strengthen it.“Reach for your wand Potter, I want you to.” the threatening growl from above her, caused her heart race with fear. This was going to turn into an actual fight.“Oh my God you two please stop,” sitting up she pushed at Draco's incredibly firm chest. Even though his hand never moved an inch Draco gave her an unreadable look before standing up. Pulling herself into a kneeling position at the foot of the bed. She pleaded with both men, “Please you two, you can not possibly do this all year. Please. I don't think I could mentally stand it.”Hearing the rare emotion of desperation seep through her words Harry's face softened while Draco's seemed to become harder with an indiscernible anger.“I am sorry Hermione,” Harry's voice was soft as he stepped toward her bed and put one hand on her shoulder. “I was just taken off guard at first,” he gave chilling glare to the tall Slytherin, “But I promise I will do my best to ignore the ferret, for you.”Hermione smiled appreciatively to Harry before turning to Draco. His eyes were cold with anger but he nodded his agreement nonetheless.“Lets go check out the Gryffindor common room.” Harry completely ignored the Slyhterin's presence as he grabbed her wrist gently pulling her off the bed and out of the room. With an apologetic glance and a quick smile at Draco she allowed Harry to pull her away.Standing alone in her room Draco let a cool smile grace his features. With a quick flick of the wrist Draco placed a dozen or so wards around the room. Not only did the wards assure him of her safety from their enemies they assured him that no other male besides himself and faculty could enter this room. And the only the castor could remove them.Suppressing a dark laugh Draco left the same way he entered.888“My classes are great! I wasn't sure how this year this year was going to turn out with the attack on the train an such...” Draco nodded at the chattering bookworm as he picked at his breakfast. Looking up from his eggs he gave her an amused glance.
Dressed in her very proper uniform and her new robes while her books scattered the table around her breakfast plate she was the perfect model of education. Without missing a beat from her conversation she easily nipped at a piece of toast, while simultaneously flipping through pages of a rather large book sitting beside his plate. After their time in the cabin Draco could easily say he was used to her studious behavior. The inconsistent pattern from chirping quite happily about one topic then going completely silent while munching on her food was quite amusing in his mind. Although he could safely say his current mood could not be constituted as amused. Doing his best to listen to the small Gryffindor next to him Draco noticed that he wasn’t the only one.Damn near every sodding male eye at Slytherin table was riveted towards the princess, not to mention Potter's failed attempts to keep the girl in line of sight. With an inward groan of disgust, the school year was starting off exactly how Draco feared it would.

As usual Draco walked down the school hallways with a sense of mastery. It didn't matter if it was the first week back and people were clamoring in every direction, one look at the tall white haired Slytherin insured a clear path was provided.
Already he had two classes with Hermione this morning and she was putting her bookworm title to the test. Loads of books, frazzled hair, and the familiar anxiousness set deep into her brown eyes. This routine wasn’t going to work. Nodding faintly as a fellow Slytherin passed by he continued his thoughts about his decision. The other members of the Golden Trio might be ok with letting her run herself into the ground but Draco would not abide it.
Scrawling a quick letter, he tied the scrap of parchment to his black hawk owl before giving it a quick treat. Making his way from the Owlery, Draco headed towards the library.

The bird pecking at the window caught Hermione in the middle of passage from her potions book. Sighing in slight frustration, since she only had a couple more hours to finish her reading for seven classes, Hermione got up and allowed the foreboding creatures entrance.
Quickly plucking the note from the bird’s foot Hermione watched the creature fly off before reading the note.
“Dear Princess
I have not only a small surprise for you, I also have something i need to discuss with you. Follow the note.
Yours,
Draco Malfoy”
She would be a liar if she didn’t admit that she felt a rush of heat run through her body when she read “Yours.” Brushing off the warm feeling Hermione concentrated on the note.
“Follow the note,” she whispered quietly to herself, “what does that mean.” The moment the words left her mouth the tiny scrap of parchment began to fold into a paper bird. Holding her hands open flat Hermione watched with a growing smile as the tiny paper bird hopped around a bit before jumping off her hand and fluttering away.
Quickly she scooped up her books before pursuing the paper. Thankfully she was already pretty deep in the library away from the more visited areas, so following the paper bird further back into the library didn’t catch anyones attention.
Rounding a massive row of books she followed the paper until it stopped near the wall. With very little light filtering in through the windows, since it was now dusk, Hermione stopped and examined the area. At first sight nothing looked out of the ordinary, however she considered herself well versed in the organizational methods of the library and she knew very well that the black and silver spined Dragon Anthology did not belong in this section.
Giving the book a gentle tug she watch wide eyed as the book case slid open.
