Chapter Nineteen
HPOV
Hermione was on cloud nine. Finally, they had talked about their future, their feelings and she had gotten a serious commitment from Severus Snape! Of course, they hadn't't’t talked about marriage or anything of the like, but really, she was way too young to think in those terms yet, anyway. Bouncing out of the bathroom, she felt Severus’ gaze on her and let a small smile play around her lips. She was already feeling more comfortable around him and she wasn't't’t going to let anything spoil this for her.
Stepping into what would be the Master bedroom, she walked over towards the table that had been set up in the middle of the room. The plans for the house were spread out on top of it, the ones for her Master’s room right on top. She felt rather than saw Severus step up next to her. One of his hands reached for the plans, while the other grabbed her around the waist and pulled her closer to him. Hermione’s heart started fluttering in her chest and she let herself go boneless against his side.
“There is one other thing I would like to ask you. The smaller sitting room next door can be your walk-in closet. Since you are moving in here with me, how about we leave these rooms as they are and make yours a playroom? Initially I wanted to put it in the Dungeons and make the Lab a bit smaller.” he asked her. Hermione frowned up at him, not quite understanding what he meant. Severus was looking intently at the plans. She studied his profile, the long, crooked nose.
“What do you mean, a ‘playroom’?” she responded.
His head turned around, towards her and a frown marred his features.
“I haven’t explained that to you? Very well, then. A playroom is where we will keep all of our things we use in the bedroom. Like a plug or vibrators, they will have their own shelf. It will have a bed with restraints and other…furniture. It is the place where we will play our games. When we have guests, like your parents or your friends, the room will be locked up. It will be accessible through our rooms, only. We can hide the entrance behind a mirror or painting. We will sleep in the real bedroom, though.” Hermione knew he had kept it simple, but still her imagination ran wild. During the time they had been separated she had read up on a few things that were used during what he called ‘play’ and the thought of having a room filled with the things she had seen made her panties go embarrassingly wet. She cleared her throat and then nodded.
“That is a good idea. I wouldn't’t want to have someone accidentally see my things. But…I saw something I might like to have.” She hesitated and then burst out the whole sentence in one rush. “CanWeHaveASwing?”
She felt Severus give a start and then a chuckle rumbled through his chest, while she kept her eyes downcast, staring at her hands clutching the plans.
“If that is what you want, then yes, we can have a swing. Tell me, pet, have you been reading again?” he asked her, pulling her closer and turning her towards him. She felt his fingers sip under her chin and lift up her face. Following the pressure, she looked up into his dark eyes. They swallowed her up and made her feel light-headed.
“Yes, Master. I was curious.” She breathed out, before his smiling mouth claimed her lip in a kiss so soft, she felt her head spin. Her body moved closer to his, but he kept the kiss soft and simple, only his lips moving on hers, their breath mingling. After what felt like hours, he gently broke their kiss and took a small step back. He pulled out his wand and with a few swishes there were two chairs. He sat her down in one of them and took the other.
“Then let us plan. But we won’t fill the playroom yet, pet.” He said, holding on to her hand and gently rubbing circles on its back. She felt a bit odd at his gentleness and his open shows of affection, but didn't’t want to break the odd mood he was in.
“Why not?” she asked him.
“Well, first we need to find out what you enjoy. It is no use to buy a bed with restraints if you cannot handle being tied up. For a while yet, we will be going to a club that I am a member of that caters to a specific clientele. They have private playrooms, where we can try what we like and what we don’t.”
“You mean BDSM, right?” she blurted out, wanting what was really happening on the table.
She wasn't’t stupid and the last four months had given her plenty of time to read up on things. She had told her parents to send her a cell-phone and bribed Dobby to make it work at Hogwarts. The Internet had given her quite an education. But she wasn't’t going to tell him everything. Let him explain.
“Well…yes. You really have been reading, haven’t you? Where, exactly, did you find anything at Hogwarts? Ah, wait, let me take a guess. Probably a Computer and a House-Elf where involved. Really, pet, if I were still a teacher I would have put you over my knee for this…Or maybe I will still do it. Stand up, pet. You have misbehaved.”
Hermione felt a flush creep up her neck when he figured out how she had gotten the reading material but when he told her he was going to spank her, she felt a rush of arousal go through her. She had been waiting to get spanked again for a while yet. She had liked it the first time and every time he did it during sex, she nearly went through the roof with arousal. She always came harder when he spanked her. She eagerly got up and bend over his lap. He snorted a laugh out, but flipped up the skirt of her dress. She wasn't’t wearing underwear. He started rubbing her behind with both hands, jiggling the flesh occasionally and dipping his fingers between her check. Then she felt him pull them apart, using one of his wet fingers to push into her ass. She stiffened at his intrusion but he quickly spanked her ass three times, quite hard, making her loosen up and squirm in his lap.
“Relax, pet. We will have to train you to take me there and it will take some time.” He answered, before pulling out the tip of finger.
“Get ready, I am starting now.” He growled. She barely had time to prepare mentally before she felt a string of slaps rain down on her upturned bottom. She cried out in pain, but it didn't’t take long before the heat of the slaps turned into the heat of arousal and her pussy got wet. She started squirming under Severus’ hand in earnest, torn between sobs of pain and sobs of pleasure. His arousal pushed into her belly and her squirming seemed to pleasure him.
“Go on, pet, come for me. Now!” he bellowed, before raining down more and heavier slaps on her ass.
Her orgasm caught her by surprise and she came so hard, she nearly fell of his lap. If he hadn't’t been holding her, she would have been a squirming mess on the floor. It took a while for her to get her bearings back, relaxing under the soothing strokes of his hand. He pulled her upright again and let the dress drop, before sitting her down in her chair.
“W-what about you, Master?” she asked him, still trembling from her Orgasm. The chair burned her behind deliciously and she felt herself give a shiver of arousal.
“I will get my release later, pet. Now, let us plan. The Elves want to finish this today, so tonight we can sleep in here instead of that narrow cot in my office.”
“Alright, alright. Ok, what wood would you like?” she asked him, bending her head over the little book with colors, fabrics and materials like woods and tiles her aunt had left them.
SPOV
Severus sighed at Hermione’s bent head and leaned closer.
“Well, I would go for something light. We will be spending so much time in the Dungeons with those dark colors, believe me, you don’t want anything resembling it in your private rooms. The same with our little sitting room. Dark gets depressing very fast.” He answered, pointing to a lovely caramel colored wood.
“Really? That one? I would have gone for this one. I liked the grey in your bedroom at Hogwarts, so this would be nice.” She answered, selecting a dove white, that had a slightly grey undertone.
“Honestly? I chose the grey because white was the only thing that I could imagine went with it and just bought everything else in white.” He said with a slight laugh.
“Or wait, how about we take white furniture and light blue walls and use this darker grey on the floors? We will just use darker colors for the fabrics, to offset it. Here, look!” she said, excitedly swishing her wand around the room, transfiguring the bare walls blue and the floor into the grey she wanted. He looked around and nodded in affirmation, before moving with her to the connecting drawing room.
“And here?” he asked, looking around.
“This will be held completely in white, with a big mirror over there. The windows stay. And I would rather have carpet in here in the same grey as the floor next door.” She said, already moving back into their bedroom and towards the desk. She scribbled down her instructions and Severus pulled out the plans for the bathroom.
“What about the bathroom?” he asked her, before he remembered that she had ordered hers to be done the same as his, only with one sink instead of two and with the smaller shower and bathtub.
“Never mind, you liked mine, I remember. I already have the Playroom planned. It will be tiled, so we can clean it better.” He said, before pulling her by the hand out into the drawing room.
“Really? But that would look like, I don’t know, like a clinic.” She said on a giggle.
“Which is the point. It isn't’t our bedroom, so it doesn't’t need to be comfortable, pet. Dark Woods, like the ones in the labs, so not every stain will show and dark fabrics.” He answered, entering what should have been her quarters. Unlike his quarters, you didn't’t enter directly into the bedroom, but rather a sitting room that was connected to their shared drawing room, before walking into the bedroom and from there the bathroom. The reason for that was that the Master suite was at the end of the hallway and they had built the rooms into the bend, so that her bathroom was effectively on the other side of the hallway. But they could use that to their advantage.
“How about we plan these rooms again?” he asked her, pulling her to his side and snuggling her under his arm.
“Why?” she asked him, before cuddling up to him.
“This is inconvenient. If your bedroom will be the playroom and we make the drawing room a walk-in closet, everyone would walk through our clothes hanging there to get into the sitting room. Let’s leave my bedroom way it is, have your Walk-In replace the drawing and sitting room, and then put the bathroom after the Walk-In. We can make the bathroom bigger that way. The playroom will be at the very back, using up the space of your bedroom and your bathroom completely. It will be accessible only through the bathroom. That way, we can leave our real bedroom where it is. We will enter straight through the bedroom and from them to the other rooms. It might be a tad inconvenient, but that way there are less chances of someone just stumbling into our playroom. They would have to go through three rooms first.” He said, already mapping it out in his head.
“Will that work? I mean, with the bathroom and the plumbing?” she asked.
“Yes, it will. Unless you insist on a drawing room or a sitting room?” He answered.
“Not really. We have so much places to sit in this Manor, we really don’t need any more sofas or settees just standing around. And I like the idea of our Playroom being here, not some deep, dark secret in the Cellar.” She answered. Then she seemed to think of something and looked at him. “Where exactly had you been thinking of putting it? Please don’t tell me those two cells!”
“Ehm, maybe? Don’t scowl like that, pet, where else would we have had the space? Look at this from the bright side, we can now use them as more storage space for our finished Potions, since they are directly connected to the lab.” He answered her, while ushering her back into the bedroom, were he proceeded to make the necessary arrangements on the plans and telling the House-Elf in charge what to put where. He heard Hermione huffing and puffing near him, but ignored her.
The House-Elf in charge, Dipsy, was one of the oldest at Hogwarts. She loved renovating and had jumped at the prospect to work here. Since she was a free Elf, she was wearing real clothes, that consisted of child-sized jeans and a purple Shirt with yellow hearts on it. She had odd little tufts of grey hair on her head and big, green eyes. The first time he saw her, he had asked her if the Headmaster took his fashion advice from her or vice versa.
“Dipsy will make everything great in here! Will you let Dipsy buy the furniture as well, Master Snape?” she quipped up at him, her age and her lifetime servitude at Hogwarts at least teaching her how to speak properly.
“No, we will buy the furniture ourselves, Dipsy. I was planning to take Hermione out right now, so if you could get us samples of the woods you will be using? We leave in an hour.” He answered. He thanked his lucky stars every day that he had listened to Hermione and gotten her aunt to work on the house. That woman’s suppliers might have been expensive, but they had everything ready to be sent over.
“Alrighty! But you have to choose the bed well for the In-Outie!” Dipsy peeped back at him and Severus frowned down in confusion at the little creature. When she saw the question on his face, the Elf made some rude hand-gestures that gave him quite the idea what she meant by In-Outie. He felt his eyebrows rise up to his hairline.
“Dipsy! What are you doing? I cannot believe you!” Hermione screeched at the Elf, bright red. Dipsy just grinned at them and apparated away, leaving an outraged Hermione and a stunned Potions Master behind.
“Did you just see that, Severus?! That was so…rude and lewd!” Hermione went on screeching. Severus turned around towards his witch and just grinned at her.
“Well, after getting over my initial shock, I have to admit it is quite funny…I have never had a House-Elf do that at me.” He replied with a deep chuckle. She looked at him and gave a little snort, before breaking out into laughter as well.
“In-Outie, really.” He said, while shaking his head.
“Where exactly are we going furniture shopping, Severus? And how do we get everything here by the end of the day?” she asked him, with a smile playing around her lips.
“Really, pet, are you a witch or not? We will go to London, choose what we want and put it, reduced into miniature form, into that ugly back of yours and get it back here.” He answered her, grinning at her outraged: “It isn't’t ugly! It’s a classic!”, before following her stomping form back into his office where she proceeded to empty the bag from what was in it.
He left her to her devices and went back up into what had been the former sitting room, where the entrance to his office still was. Now, it was a beautiful room, flooded with enough light to work comfortable, but not so much that it would destroy some of the light-sensitive plants they would use. He had set up only one big workplace, letting Deborah, Hermione’s aunt, talk him into an oversized kitchen Island, with four smaller stoves spread apart enough to leave space for working. He had wanted to use the same ones they used in Hogwarts, but after they found out that a Muggle Gas-Stove didn't’t interfere at all with magic and vice versa, he had decided to go completely Muggle. It looked better and was not as dangerous, because the cauldrons were less likely to be pushed over or fall over like this. They had done the same in the bigger lab downstairs, where instead of tables, he had put six kitchen Islands in there, with three stoves each, all apart. He knew the Muggle who made them had found them odd, but since he got his money he hadn't’t complained much. Or so Deborah had said.
Along the walls were still empty shelves. The only shelf-free space was where they had put a big Bay Window, with built in seats and cushions, so one could sit down and wait for a Potion to finish. It overlooked the drive-way, which was still messed up from the vehicles the construction workers had used to bring most of the material.
The room opened up into the winter garden, as Hermione had suggested, and it had worked out well. Pomona had taken over, eager to redeem herself, and made it into a Green House. It was big and wrapped around the back of the house, talking over more than half of the former ballroom. They had deliberately cut it in two parts, one that was flooded with light and one that was dark and damp. It was necessary for some of the plants he had to grow. The rest of the ballroom had been remodeled into a big kitchen that opened up into the Dining Room. He had left that as it was, only exchanging the small, rather claustrophobic windows with a bigger bay window overlooking the driveway, just as with the sitting room.
The only thing that bugged him was how the house was situated. The Green House was at the edge of the slope, with no space to have a garden. Pomona had assured him it was better this was, since there would be no plants or trees to take away the light. To battle too much of it, she had put in spells into the glass, to regulate how much light would be let in when it got too much. Some unique (and expensive) spells later, even the dampness that came with a green-house was kept out of the foundation of the house.
Another important part of the renovations had been the Cellar. They had opened it up, found the source of the dampness and mold, which had been the bad plumbing, and let it dry (through magic, he didn't’t have time for anything else). Then they had put in his main office, that you had to walk through to get into the lab, with those genius kitchen Islands. The walls were, again, filled with shelves with all the Ingredients they needed. Then he had put in a smaller storage room from where you could enter a smaller green-house, that housed everything that needed dryness and darkness. The last part was the smallest room yet, but necessary.
Hermione had asked him why he didn't’t have his own, private lab, but he had told her that he didn't’t need one at his home, the lab he had was his after all. And any apprentice of his was there to learn, so they could watch him make potions, anyway.
The upstairs he had changed as well. The former twelve bedrooms had been gutted out. The stairs that led up now opened into something akin a Foyer that was situated directly over the entrance. He had added a second set of stairs next to it, that led up into the attic. Draco’s rooms, as well as one of the three guest rooms were upstairs in the attic, on the right hand side of the Manor. The other two guest rooms were beneath them. He had left the left side of the Manor almost completely reserved for his and Hermione’s rooms and the Apprentices offices. Hermione’s and his rooms were through a door on the left side of the Foyer. Her and Draco’s office, only accessible through a door in the library, were situated between Hermione’s rooms and the Library. It wasn't’t big and consisted only of two desks and, again, two small Half-shelves directly behind the desks. The window, in here at least, was again a Bay Window, with enough space to sit, filled with cushions.
The Foyer, all the while, had a floor to ceiling window overlooking the driveway, with four plush settees arranged artfully. It replaced the sitting room he didn't’t have anymore. It even included a small TV, for any guests who wanted to relax. Directly across the stairs were beautifully carved Double doors, that opened into his Library. The Walls were lined with his book shelves, everything he owned, even most of his Potions Texts. It had a big, round table that could be used as a desk, with a basket filled with parchments and those little note-books Hermione liked to use in its middle. He would insist his Apprentices did their research here or their office, before taking anything downstairs into the lab. The books might be protected with spells, but still. He had put in a copying machine, for everyone to use, so they could take copies out of the books for the lab. The House-Elves had really gotten a kick out of putting it up and copying their ears, before sending them to each other.
He hadn't’t put in big windows here, for too much light might damage the books. He rather counted on anyone reading for pleasure by the window in the Foyer. There was enough lighting in the library, though, by well-placed fairy lights. Most of them hung in a cluster over the round desk in the middle of the room. Still, some were hanging sporadically from the ceiling or put as glowing orbs on the half-shelves he had used. The Half-Shelves, all filled with books, were there to leave everyone enough space to pile on books or even to put a tea-tray on. He hated wasted space and had decided on them rather than small tables. The rows of book-shelves, like the ones in his Hogwarts Lab, were upstairs in the attic. It was accessible through a spiraling stairway, directly to the left of the doors leading into the library. Here, as well, he had used the fairy lights. They had had to remodel the attic completely, by removing nearly all of the roof and building proper walls and a ceiling. It made the space rather short, but it was enough. The absolute top of the attic, what was left anyway after putting in a ceiling and straight walls, had been used to make rooms for the two House-Elves he had hired. It was tall enough for them and ran the entire length of the House. They had been ecstatic at having so much space all for themselves and had even put in small windows and a small kitchen. Bathrooms were there as well, as far as he had understood. He had only had a glance at the rooms, only sticking his head through the smaller stairs they had put in at the back of the hallway that connected Draco’s rooms and the guest room.
Deborah had complained that his choice of windows made the Manor look almost lopsided, but he hadn't’t cared. He wanted the inside to fit, that was more important. The windows and woods on the outside were all held in the original dark, almost black, wood and that was enough for him.
Thankfully the Manor had come without balconies, or he would have had to have those removed as well. He never understood the need for them and had rather evened out some space in front if the kitchen and Dining Room, that had big terrace doors, which led to a terrace made out of the same dark wood that had been used everywhere. It was a big terrace, that held a BBQ-Grill and a table with six chairs made out of white metal. It looked feminine, if he were honest, but Hermione’s delighted squeals, and Deborah’s smug grin at her nieces’ reaction had made Severus accept it. Temporarily. The part of the terrace that was in front of the kitchen had been canopied with wooden beams and ivy that was still growing. It was almost an extension of the kitchen, with tables that held a number of kitchen herbs and a sink. Unlike the Dining room, the door from the kitchen was a simple wooden door.
All in all, he liked how the renovations had worked out and he felt every penny had been well spent. Deborah and the House-Elves had been an amazing team, getting the more difficult material to the house by magic instead of having to wait for delivery by the Muggle companies. The construction inside, including the plumbing or the electricity had been taken over by the House-Elves completely, much to Severus’ surprise. The only thing that had really been missing were their bedrooms, since they had still been at Hogwarts and didn't’t need them. Everything else had been planned by Deborah and him in advance and had been finished last week. Draco and Hermione had wanted to choose for themselves and he had waited for Hermione to make her choice for obvious reasons.
He jauntily walked up the stairs again, turning left into his rooms to find the Elves had already taken out the walls.
“Master! There you are! Dipsy has been thinking if you want to keep the Hallway? And the entrance to the second bedroom can be through the mirror at the end of this hallway, instead from the bathroom?” she peeped up at him.
“No, it has to be through the bathroom, Dipsy. But put in a shelf instead of the mirror and put the mirror in the smaller hallway here. It will make it look bigger. The shelf in the bathroom can be the entry to the extra bedroom and still be used for towels and such.” He answered, thinking about it. Dipsy had had some very good ideas during the renovations, one of them the Bay Windows throughout the Manor.
He wanted the small Hallway, enough for the door and the mirror, for when they had visitors. He didn't’t feel comfortable stepping directly into the bedroom from the small Foyer. He knew it looked almost convoluted, one room leading into another, but if it worked better this way…
“Master, this Manor so big, nothing needs to look bigger in here.” The House-Elf replied dryly.
Severus had to agree with the small creature. Only after renovating it had he truly noticed the size of the thing. Decrepit and run-down, it had looked very different. The ‘small Foyer’ next to his stairs was as big as the Slytherin common room. His Library, well, there was enough wall there to have the shelves custom made. Not to speak of his Green House. He was sure Pomona was still having wet dreams about it. It was bigger than all of the Hogwarts Green Houses combined.
He shrugged his shoulder at the Elf and smiled.
“You know, Dipsy, you are quite right. But, whoever needs twelve bedrooms?” he answered.
“Dipsy says with enough In-outie with the Mistress, you could need it. Three extra rooms are not enough.” The House-Elf replied, looking at him seriously.
Severus stared at the creature in disbelief, before he gave in to the laughter bubbling in his chest.
He didn't’t stop for quite some time. Only after he had wiped tears of mirth from his eyes and gone over the plans again with Dipsy, did he notice something very important.
During this past few months, and especially during these renovations, he had laughed more and smiled more than during his whole life. And he noticed something else: he rather liked himself better this way. And taking his witch to go furniture shopping was a rather nice touch as well, where before he might have been annoyed at having to wait for someone else before making a decision. He had been alone for too long already, having someone in his life made for a nice change.
