Alexandra’s POV
It was late afternoon when Madam Pomfrey finally discharged me from the hospital wing. I hadn’t seen Severus or Sirius at all today, and I was grateful for it. I could do with a break from them, so instead of going to the library, where I had agreed to meet Severus, I went to Ravenclaw tower to look for Mary, but she wasn’t there. A third year informed me that she’d seen Lily and Mary in the library, so I reluctantly went to the library. I found my friends at the table that we usually occupied while studying. ‘Hi Alex, how are you feeling?’ Mary asked. Lily looked shocked, probably at Mary’s lack of tact. I however liked it, it was the way Mary was, extremely blunt. ‘I’ll live, I’m way behind on my homework.’ Lily rolled her eyes at me ‘trust you to care that you haven’t done all the homework for next month yet.’ She said, we all laughed. As I sat down, and pulled out my transfiguration homework, a beautiful Saw-Whet owl landed beside me, dropping a letter on my books.
I exchanged a surprised glance with the others, while taking the letter from the owl, and giving it some treats.
I read the letter out loud so that the others could hear.

Dear Miss Zabini,
I whish to thank you for your acceptance of my son’s offer to accompany you to the Malfoy ball. I’m glad that Regulus has caught your eye, and that you are willing to give him a chance to prove that he is worthy of your affections.
I would like to get the chance to meet you in person, which is why I am writing to you. It would be my wish, if convenient to you, that you join our family for lunch Friday next, which concedes with your Hogsmade weekend.
Rest assured that this meeting is with your parents’ approval.

Our family owl, Hydra back with your response at your earliest convenience.

When I finished reading the letter both looked at me rather shocked. ‘You’re going to the Malfoy ball with Regulus Black?’ Mary said. Madam Pince gave her a piercing look. ‘Sorry’ she mouthed to her, smiling apologetically.
I wrote a quick reply to confirm that I was going to be joining them for lunch, and sent the owl off with it. It would have been an insult if I had declined. I had to get together with Regulus as soon as possible.

‘At what point are you going to tell us what happened?’ Lily asked. ‘What do you want to know?’ I said, packing up my books again, I didn’t want to have this conversation in here, where we could be so easily overheard.
While we were walking towards the grounds, Lily shot me murderous glares. ‘Why are you going with Regulus, and What the hell happened to you and Sirius?’ she asked. ‘What have you done to Snape? He’s been in quite a snit today’ Mary informed me.
Lily transfigured us a bench, so we could sit near the lake. It was getting really cold, winter was coming early this year.
I told them about Regulus asking me, but left out that is was to hide his relation with another man. I also told hem about the fight I had with Severus, and Sirius.
When I was done talking Lily whistled ‘Wow, you’ve had a rough week.’ I laughed, that was the understatement of the year.

‘Just to be clear Alex, do you like either of them?’ Lily asked. ‘And she means in a lets-have-sex-and-babies way.’ Mary asked. I shoved her ‘Don’t be so crude’.
I contemplated my answer, I wasn’t used to having to discuss my feelings with anyone, and I was raised to understand that feelings didn’t matter in pureblood marriages. What did I feel about them? I could feel the elemental bond pulling me towards them, even now, when we were fighting. My father had told me that it would be like that for quite some time. It had been activated when the three of us touched, apparently both of them had held one of my hands when I was under. But even before the bond there was something there. ‘I’ve always been sort of attracted to Sirius, he’s handsome, he can be kind, he’s intelligent when he’s not being a prat’ I told them.
‘As for Severus, he’s so compassionate, he listens when I talk, he’s intelligent, good looking in his own way, he’s caring and gentle’ I sighed ‘I wish it was simple, but I love them both equally.

I was sure both were shocked by what I said, I was shocked by it, I had just openly admitted to loving two men. ‘So what are you doing with Regulus?’ Mary wanted to know. ‘A favour to a friend, he was afraid that no one was going to ask him, and his mother would set him up with a horrible person, like that Rowle girl.’
Mary shrugged, we al heard of her reputation, saying that she was horrible was the kindest thing I could think of. She was well known for her treatment of others. ‘Does Regulus know that you’re not interested in him further than friendship? Lily wanted to know.
I nodded, as if Reg would want to have anything else I thought by myself.
As we reached the great hall for diner, I was stopped by Regulus. ‘Alex, a word, in private please?’ he asked, sounding nervous.
I followed him into an empty classroom, and put up a privacy ward, just in case.
‘What’s wrong?’ I asked, his nervousness made me anxious. He started pacing while he told me about the letter from his mother, that she had informed him that I would be joining them for diner. ‘Surely that’s not what’s bothering you?’ I asked.
He stopped, and pulled another letter out of his pocket I read it
