The good mood Harry had fallen asleep with didn’t last long when he woke up. The Prophet and another letter were on the desk waiting for him. He quickly skimmed the Prophet, rolling his eyes as he read the same old trash about himself. He was a liar, deraigned, imagining things, or seeking attention. He tossed in into the fireplace, anger starting build in his chest. He opened the letter and felt the anger in him explode.
Mister Potter,
Since you have not rescinded your interview yet, we are writing you again to ask that you do so before we must take measures against you. You have until the end of the week to publish an interview taking back what you said.
Cornelius Fudge
Minister of Magic
If the Ministry wanted an interview, Harry would give them an interview. He flooed Draco.
“Morning Harry. What’s up?”
“Please let your mother know that I will be late this morning. I got another letter from the Ministry demanding that I do an interview taking back what I said. If they want me to give an interview, then they will get one.” Harry gave a wicked smile.
Draco felt his heart do a little flop at the sight of that mischievous grin.
“I will let her know. I will also warn Father so that he can push the lawsuit if needed.”
“Thank you, Draco. I will be over as soon as I can.” Harry closed out the floo, cleaned up, and made his way to the Prophet.
He once again talked with Miss Anderson, telling her that she should run the interview immediately.
“You did amazing on the last one, I trust you to this one justice as well.” Harry said as the shook hands.
“I will Lord Potter.” Amelia replied before biding him farewell.
Harry arrived at Malfoy Manor an hour late. He made his way to the garden where lessons were being held.
“How nice of you to join us Lord Potter.” Narcissa said, not even turning around.
Harry blushed, he could hear the sarcasm dripping from her voice.
“I apologize for my tardiness, Lady Malfoy. I had an urgent matter pop up this morning that had to be addressed immediately.” Harry gave a small bow.
“Apology accepted. Please take a seat.” Narcissa smiled. She was so pleased with how Harry was progressing. At the rate he was going, he would be able to keep up with even the oldest of families.
Narcissa continued the lesson for a little longer before dividing the group up into two different classes. She had those who knew some of the manners, Harry, Hermione, and Draco, go off and work on what she called “Public Appearance”, while she worked with the twins and Ginny to get them caught up.
By the end of the class Narcissa was pleased with her new students’ progress and went to check on the other three. She frowned when she saw they were just standing there talking. She walked closer to see what they were discussing and found that the three were in a three-sided battle of wits. Hermione was arguing for the Light side, Draco was arguing for the Dark, and Harry was arguing for his side. He was holding his own against anything that Hermione or Draco could throw at him, answering them with well thought out comments and responses.
“I see you three are prepping for the future.” Narcissa said when they paused for a breather.
“Might as well since this is what we are going to face when we get to school.” Harry replied.
“Well done you three. Lord Potter, Lucius is waiting for you in his study. He wishes to talk to you about your upcoming move.”
Harry nodded and went to meet Lucius. The two men discussed when would be the most practical time for him to move in.
“I would like for the Evans Manor to be inhabited first. This way I can see to it that Molly is settled and has thing set up the way she wants before I take off.”
“Very well, we can take care of that tomorrow if you wish.”
“Let do so in two days. My interview is coming out tomorrow and I want to be close by for the backlash.” Harry gave that mischievous grin again.
“I shudder at the thought of what you have said.” Lucius dead panned.
Harry couldn’t help but chuckle. They set the date for Harry to go renew the wards and fix up the Manor before moving Molly in.
“I should be all set by the time the shopping trip happens so I can move into Potter Manor then. Since the wards there are still holding strong I won’t need to do as much to strengthen them.”
Lucius agreed and suggested that while out shopping, Harry hire house elves to help maintain the two manors. Harry agreed that it would be a good idea.
“How many do you think I would need?”
“If they are close to this size you should hire about a dozen each. You should have a personal elf that can bounce between the two places and is tied directly to you. Elves that are dedicated to cooking, some for the lawn and greenhouses if you have them, and then elves that are just for cleaning and repairing any damages to the property.”
Harry took note. He knew that Hermione was still warming up to the idea of elves, but he also knew that she knew, he would take care of them.
The two parted ways and Harry flooed to Grimauld Place. He told Molly what the plan was for moving and asked Sirius and Remus if they would consider moving into Potter Manor to run the place while he was at school. They both agreed.
“Both of us are already keyed into the wards from when we were kids. If you want, we can go over now and start cleaning up the place. We won’t be able to strengthen the wards, but we can at least get it set up as a home and headquarters.” Sirius suggested.
“That would make things easier on me. Thanks guys. I’m not sure you can floo in yet, but the property list stated that there was an apperation point right outside the gate.” Harry stated.
“Don’t worry cub, we got this.” Remus said with a little laugh as they watch Sirius run off to pack.
Harry spent the rest of the afternoon and well after dinner talking over the plans he had discussed with Lucius with the group. He warned them about the interview, telling them about the letter he had received that morning along with the paper. Molly shook her head in sadness. She couldn’t believe that they were dragging a child through the mud like that. Harry bid them good night and went back to the inn.
The next morning Harry woke to a barrage of owls, again. He smiled, the paper was out and his interview in it. He flooed to Grimauld and saw that there were even more letters there. Molly was directing howlers to the fire place and neatly piling the others at the end of the table. Harry sat down for breakfast and was handed the morning paper.
This reporter is happy to be able to give you another interview with Lord Harry Potter.
Lord Potter, what is the purpose of this interview?
The purpose of this interview is to call out all those out there who think they can control me. Who think that because I am the boy who lived, I must bow down to everyone’s demands and live how they think I should and not how I want to.
Oh, that can’t really be happening.
It is. I received these two letters, signed by the Minister, demanding I take back what I said in my previous interview. I will not! I stand by what I said and will fight with all I have to maintain the freedom I have worked hard to gain.
They are threating to arrest you if you don’t take it back? What is your answer to this?
Let them try. I have a lawsuit waiting for them if they do.
You would sue the Ministry?
Yes, they will not treat me like I am their little puppet to dance at their command! I am a human, just like everyone else and I will not be used for the gains of others! I will fight to protect this world, but I will not fight so that one side of the Wizarding world has more power over the other.
You are adamant about being a neutral side, fighting for all. I commend you for that. You are offering a safe place for those who are stuck in the middle. In doing so, you could save many lives.
That is the plan. If I can save the lives of those who would be at risk, keeping families together and minimizing the loss of life, then I have done my best for our world.
This reporter is moved by this amazing young man. The letters will be printed at the bottom of the page.
Harry smiled as he put the paper down. He gave a sigh, then started sorting letters.
‘Déjà vu.’ He though as he and his friends chated about the upcoming move.
