The sun shone through the clear, clean glass windows, emitting a warm steady stream of
sunlight that shone off the metal posts of the beds, making the crystal white sheets to glow and
glittered off the bottles of potions, elixirs and remedies.
"Is he any better?" The tall, lanky man asked as he placed a warm, intimated hand
around the woman's waist as he sat beside her on the occupied bed. She leaned into his touch
and rested her head on his thin, but strong shoulder.
"Yes. The potions are helping, but I suspect the nearness to his bond-mate is helping. The
energies and magic are again strengthening the bond causing his health and his ability to repel
illnesses stronger." She replied, moving her rich brown curls from her face to smile at the honey
eyes that were watching her. "How is Severus, Remus?" She asked, turning back to the man that
lay in the bed.
"Better. He has been sleeping and eating more, but his magic is low. I suspect he is
spending all his time that he isn't making potions to help Harry, he is strengthening the bonds so
Harry can use his magic to heal." Remus sighed, shaking his head at the fierceness that he had
seen in Severus' eyes when Harry had been returned to Hogwarts by a Auror.
Apparently, he had been found in a Muggles' hospital after all these years of searching.
He had been there for a few months with pneumonia. Normally, he would be fine and released
with commands of bed rest and medication, but his immunity was so low and lack of general
health, he was slowly deterating and very likely close to death.
Draco Malfoy, the Auror that discovered him, brought him immediately to the infirmary
at Hogwarts - basically kidnapping him - and called Severus. He was in trouble for just taking
Harry without the proper precautions and causing a few Muggles see him apparate. However,
Albus was speaking to his superiors in hope to cause the punishments not to be too severe.
Draco was just excited to finally be victorious in finding Harry and relieved that his
godfather would be soon regaining his health with the return of the fucking Golden Boy.
It's not that Draco hated Harry, they weren't friends, but they weren't rivals either. They
just . . . didn't see eye-to-eye on a few things - okay more then a few, but they did work together
to destroy Voldemort and were pretty good partners when all the crap was put aside. They could
rely on each other and could be friendly to each other, but it was a tough relationship rather then
a close one.
Besides, Draco still wasn't sure how to handle Harry being his godfather.
"Do you think . . ." The woman spun around to look at him, her hazel eyes hopeful, but
Remus just smile, sadly.
"I don't know, Hermione. I really don't know." And with that he held his wife, Hermione
close just Madame Promfrey came bustling in.
"Has he awoken? He should be soon. I better check his lungs to see if Severus' potion
was successful in cleaning them out." She asked as she pushed her way though to get to Harry,
her concern evident. Both Hermione and Remus got up and out of the way as she scanned Harry
with a wave of her wand.
"How does it look, Poppy?" Remus asked as Hermione craned her neck to look at the
scan over Madame Promfrey's shoulder.
"There are clear for the most part, but just as Severus said, there is still some that Harry
is going to have get rid of the by other means. However, overall it looks like the is pretty much
gone." Promfrey said while the scan information disappeared and turned to face the other two.
"He should awake soon, so I will go obtain the potions he will need." And with that she was
gone, moving the white curtain that rest in her way and disappearing into her office.
It was just then that a groan from the sleeping figure on the bed, groaned after a week of
silence and sleep. Harry's green eyes open a crack before snapping wide open in surprise.
"What - ?" Harry was unable to finish as his throat gurgled. With quick movement,
Hermione kicked the pot under Harry as he leaned over the bed, vomiting.
"Shhh. It's okay, Harry. Just let it all come. You feel much better." Hermione murmured
as she rubbed her long lost friend's back. Her only reply was a heave and a gurgle.
"I'll go tell Poppy that her patient has awakened and is getting rid of the material that is
left." Remus sighed, while walking away and leaving with a silent rustle of the white curtains
surrounding Harry's bed.
"Better?" Hermione asked when she thought Harry was done.
"Ugh." Was the reply before another heave promptly came and contents once again
entered the magically emptied pot. "Fuck." Harry muttered when he was finished, but not
moving because he wasn't quite ready to find out if it was another false alarm.
"Fuck indeed. This wouldn't have happened if you took care of yourself.' Hermione
scowled as Harry glanced at her. He just moaned.
"I need a smoke." Harry just said as he sat up gingerly and leaned against the pillows that
Hermione arranged for him. She then sat down beside him, staring at him, her eyes half-relieved
and half-angry. "Not now." Harry said, sighing as he leaned back closing his eyes.
"But soon." Hermione said, sighing. She reached out and brushed his unkept hair out of
his face, gently and with sisterly fondness. "I'm glad you all right and back, Harry. I missed you.
We all missed you." She smiled as Harry watched her and felt the dull ache of sadness and
loneliness he felt without her all these years.
"Right." Harry snorted and Hermione arched one of her thin brows. "I'm sure not
everybody missed me, but I sure as hell missed you." Harry said as Hermione threw herself into
his open arms.
After Ron's death, they grew very close and became very much like sister and brother.
Ginny was consoled by her boyfriend, Colin at the time, but neither Hermione nor Harry had
anyone else at the time. Harry may have had Severus, his husband and bond-mate, but fuck if
Severus wanted to hold him close and let him cry at the loss of his best friend and Hermione's
boyfriend. So they found their friendship became even closer, but not in the least sexual.
"He may have not have said as much, but it was very obvious." Hermione said as Harry
pulled away and glared at her. He went to speak, but she placed a finger at his lips to quieten
him. "Forget it. We'll discuss it when you are better."
"There's nothing to discuss. As soon as I'm better, I'm gone." Harry grumbled, turning
away from Hermione wide hazel eyes.
"Harry!" Hermione yelled, angry and surprised. Harry just glared about to open his
mouth to make a reply about there was nothing here for him except a husband, who hated him
and a old fucker that loved to manipulated him, but Poppy and Remus promptly made there
entrance.
"Good, you're awake. How do you feel?" Madame Promfrey asked as she made her way
over and Hermione moved. Madame Promfrey laid a gentle, almost motherly, hand upon Harry's
head in search of a temperature.
"I've been better." Harry remarked, his voice croaky as Madame Promfrey smiled in
understanding and sat down near him on the bed. "Fuck, I've been a LOT better." Harry joked,
resting his head against the pillow behind, his smile small. He may hate that he was here for
various reasons, but it was still his home - Severus and Albus included.
"Nonetheless, it is good to see my favourite patient again. Not necessary here in the
infirmary, but I'll take what I can get." Madame Promfrey smiled as she dug a potion from the
folds of her white apron pocket. "Take this. This will help your lingering temperature and help
you on your way too full recovery." Madame Promfrey said, handing him a vile and then
another.
"We definitely don't want to find you that way again." Remus remarked, coming up to
see his late best friends' son and godson. "Mind you, we don't want you running away again
either." Remus sighed, taking Madame Promfrey seat when she got up to fuss with Harry's
bedding.
"Remus . . ." Harry started his eyes full of sadness, "I had to. I really had to . . . you
wouldn't understand." Harry sighed as Remus shook his head.
"I do understand, but it doesn't mean I approve." Remus said, grasping his shoulder
warmly. Harry gave a small smile and Remus pulled him into a hug. Harry sighed in pleasure at
the warmth in the room.
"All right you two. It's time for my patient to rest. It's the best healing remedy that can
never be bottled." Madame Promfrey announced, ushering Remus and Hermione out. "You can
see him after."
"I see you later, Harry. We both will." Hermione called as she and her husband left his
vacancy. "And Rest!" Was the yell Harry heard as the footsteps became fainter.
Madame Promfrey handed him another potion to help him sleep and fixed his bedding so
he could rest comfortably.
"Thanks, Madame Promfrey." Harry sighed, happily as he lay in the cleanest sheets and
the best bed he had in years.
"How many times must I tell you, Harry. Call me Poppy." Madame Promfrey scolded,
tapping his nose affectionately as she tucked him in. Harry chuckled lightly, turning on his side
so he could breathe better.
"You would have made a great mom, Poppy." Harry yawned, feeling the potion she gave
him take effect.
"So they say. Frankly, I have many children to take care of and they may not call me
'mom', but I sure feel as though they are my own. You included." Madame Promfrey smiled.
Harry murmured something unledgeable as his eyes close. "Sleep. You still have much to do and
people to see, but first, you much heal physically first - the rest of the healing can come later."
It was then she turned to the figure that hid in the shadows and placed her hands on her
hips. Knowing he was caught, he came out from his hiding spot, his ebony black eyes fierce and
watchful.
"You included, Severus."

A/N: Thank you so much for all the reviews and I apologise if this chapter is lacking - I at least
feel it is. And no, it isn't going to a happy story for awhile. I also apologise for the lack of
updates, but school has a tendency of getting in the way...blah.
Keep up the reviews and I'll keep
