Harry did stay in his room the entire day Friday and throughout most of Saturday. Marge had been asking about him when she arrived but accepted the fact that he was being punished for something and had to stay in his room without TV or the computer. That Harry never watched TV or played with the computer anyway wasn’t something she reflected over.
On Sunday he was getting quite bored with the situation. Luckily, he had his school books with him and in two days he had finished his Charms and Transfiguration homework for the summer and was feeling pretty good about himself for it. But, there was only so much schoolwork you could do without getting bored. The only other one Harry could think of who had probably already done all her homework and were now reading anything she could get her hands on was Hermione Granger, one of his best friends at Hogwarts.
As he was sitting on the bed that Sunday afternoon, staring at the advanced potions book he also had homework in, he heard a shriek from downstairs quickly followed by his uncle Vernon’s bellowing voice. “GET OUT YOU STUPID OWL!”
In less than two seconds Harry were running down the stairs and stormed into the kitchen. The sight in front of him would have made him laugh if he wasn’t more interested with the letter in Vernon’s hand. Aunt Petunia was currently waving a broom in the air unintentionally forcing the poor brown owl to fly away from the window instead of out. Uncle Vernon tried to calm his sister while yelling at Petunia to get the thing out of there. Aunt Marge, who apparently had been in the way when Vernon scared the bird, had her face covered in owl droppings while her little fat dog was barking wildly and jumping around Petunia's legs, almost making her fall over. A few seconds later the owl finally escaped out of the window then gave the entire crowd in the kitchen angry looks before flying off.
Vernon had put the letter in his pocket but Harry wanted it right away. “Give me the letter.” Harry whispered to him while Petunia and Marge were busy wiping the owl droppings off Marge’s face.
Vernon faced him, took a hold of his shirt and lowered his voice to a threatening whisper. “Go to your room now boy!”
“No, give me my letter.” Harry was getting angry. He remembered all too well when his uncle tried to hide his acceptance letter to Hogwarts six years ago.
“It’s not your letter. It’s addressed to me. Now get to your room.” Vernon let him go but Harry couldn’t really move. 'Not to him?' Harry was more than a little confused.
Vernon, to prove his point and to get the boy out of there as fast as possible, grabbed the letter from his pocket and showed Harry.
