- Gilderoy Lockhart was sitting, a blanket draped over his legs, once again practicing his autograph when a smiling Harry Potter walked calmly into his room. “Hello, Lockhart! Feeling better today?”
“Still can’t remember a blasted thing! Would you like a picture?” He held one of the photographs from his lap up in the air and waved it around madly. “I can sign it for you!”
“No, no. I just stopped in to make you feel better.” He held a small, silver box. “Here! Have a Lemon Drop! It’ll make you feel ALL better!”
“Really?! Do you really think it will help me remember?”
“Of course they will! Lemon Drops fix absolutely everything! Curses, poisons, broom crashes, embedded spines, bites, stings, burns, dragon pox, scrofungulus, death...wand backfiring and memory loss, too!” Harry cocked his head slightly. “You didn’t know that? It was the first thing that I learned at Hogwarts!”
Lockhart nodded at Harry. “Yes, but I don’t remember my schooling. But if you say they cure all of that...” He gratefully took a Lemon Drop from Harry’s tin and popped it in his mouth. “Thanks so much! How long do you think it will take? Well, anyhow, I’ll have to dedicate my next book to you...um...what’s your name again, Lad?”
A mediwitch bustled into the room. “There you are, Mr. Potter!” She looked a bit frazzled. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere! You really must stop wandering around the hospital!”
Harry smiled. “You look a bit flustered. Lemon Drop? It will make you feel better!” he said a bit too anxiously.
“No, no, Harry, dear. That’s all right. I really don’t need one. Come along, now.” She reached out to take Harry’s hand but Harry snatched his hand away, shaking his head.
“No. I have to help the sick people...Lemon Drops will help them feel better...” he said passively as he tried to slip past the woman into the hallway.
The Mediwitch took Harry by his waist and gently guided him to his right. “But your friends will be here to visit you any minute now. We must get you ready...” Seeing his hesitancy she added, “You can always bring them Lemon Drops later.”
Harry nodded and smiled at the witch. “Yes...later...” He giggled a bit but allowed the witch to guide him into his room.
