  • Disclaimer: I DO NOT own ANY of JK Rowlings or Leroux Gaston’s creations, I just love to write nice little fics with their characters and ideas. Ü

Yay chapter two! Lol, okay first off I have to thank my lovely reviewers.

Beany - Thanks, I’m so glad that you like it. I always loved it when Sev risks his life to save Harry, even if ((at the moment)) he didn’t do it out of love for Harry, more out of a weird friendship they’ve developed

Katie - Yea I love the idea of a Hogwarts putting on a show, you’ll hear more about that in this chapter of course. Ooh and I’ll try to make my chapters a little longer Ü

Antipyro - Your such a good reviewer, lol, of this one and my other fics thank you! Okay to answer your questions.
Harry and Sev’s relationship will develop slowly, and because of the play that they will put on.
Yes Old Voldie is dead, 100%, pushing up daisies (( well maybe not daisies but you get my point lol )) There will be no more death eater meetings. Most of the death eaters either died in the battle or were put in azkaban (( as you will find out in this chapter )). But there are still a few out there, not sure if I’m going to bring them into the story at all.
Albus is fine, as Harry healed him and saved his life. No I don’t think there will be any death eaters hurting Severus in this fic, I don’t want there to be as little mention of them and Voldemort as possible. This fic is how Hogwarts celebrates the dark lords death, for a year, actually its Dumbldore’s … urgh well you’ll see later on Ü.

Kabaue - Yes I do intend this to be a long story, and I know that the first chapter wasn’t full of that many details, but it was just a memory of Harry’s. Intended only to let you guys know what happened. For the rest of your questions read the underlined part below please.

Eci_Frog - Yes I really hate that other people do that too.

Blanca - It will be based mostly on the movie The Phantom of the Opera, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, read the underlined part below for more info.

Lion court - Ooh, so glad to hear you read Havoc of the Opera. It is one of my favorite fics

Antipyro - lol the Ü is just a smiley face silly. You can do it by pressing Alt and 1 5 4 on the side of your keyboard

Okay, and it seems I need to clear something up. The fic will not be like the Phantom of the Opera, the school will be putting on the play The Phantom of the Opera. Get it? Lol, so there will be students as well as teachers that will play roles in the play. Ü

Thank you guys so much, I would still like to see some more reviews though Ü

*** On with the Show ***

    Thought

    *************************************************************************************

Harry looked to the different house tables in the Great Hall, full of smiling children and cheery looking faces. He recognized many, but also noticed that many of the faces he would normally see, were gone. He glanced over to the Slytherin table to see that they were missing the most, either because they were death eaters themselves and were now in Azkaban, or their dark wizard parents had not wanted them to return to Hogwarts.

Harry then looked to the head table which cheered him immensely at first, seeing that Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor Snape were perfectly fine. Then he remembered one of the souls that they had lost at the battle, Hagrid, who would never sit at the head table again. Harry felt on the verge of tears because of the loss of his dear friend, but then Professor McGonagall caught his eye, and gave him a bright smile. She tapped he headmaster beside her and pointed to where Harry was standing in the doorway. Albus looked to Harry, and beckoned him to come to the head table.

Harry hurried his way to the head table, ignoring the annoying stares and calls of various others Calm, down I’ll talk to you later. Geez, you’d think these people never met me before. . When he reached the table, he was greeted with a very cheery looking Headmaster, whom reached over the table to pull Harry into a hug.

“Ahh Harry my boy, how are you? I trust you had a good summer with Sirius and Remus?” He asked, curious as to how the boy was doing.

“Yes professor I had a wonderful summer…” Harry answered happily “… Siri, Remus, and myself spent the summer at Grimmuald Place.” He finished, glancing around the room, looking for his friends.

The headmaster gave Harry a worried look, though the boy ceased to notice it. “That’s good, that’s good Harry. Well I just wanted to see how you were doing, you may join your friends now.” He said gesturing to the door, where Ron and Hermione were standing. Harry gave him a look of thanks and headed towards the door, where he was engulfed in hugs from his two best friends.

“Albus I’m worried, something still seems odd.” McGonagall whispered to the Headmaster.

“I know Minerva. One can only hope that being back at the school he loves with his friends will change that.” Albus replied, twinkle sparkling madder than ever behind his half-moon glasses. What ever the old man was planning, it wasn’t good.

    ---------------

“Welcome all, to yet another year at Hogwarts…” The headmaster greeted the students. “… I’m sure that everyone has noticed that the school is finally finished, with the help of the professors and many aurors.” He added, gesturing his hands towards the other professors at the head table. Many like Flitwick smiling and waving to students, and others like Snape looking angry and extremely embarrassed. Yet Albus continued “.. Yes, yes thank you to all that helped. Now, in sight of recent events we have a very exciting year ahead of us.”

With his last statement the entire room filled with cheers of joy, over both Voldemort’s death and the new school year.

Dumbledore continued over the shouts of happiness “Yes, yes. We all have an exciting year ahead.” Then he waited for the cheering to quiet before continuing. “ Each year will have a special project that they will attend to for the first term until the Yule holidays, in sake of the fifth and seventh years needing time to study for their OWLS and NEWTS.” The hall that was only moments ago filled with boisterous roars from the students was completely silent.

“ This experiment were testing is to celebrate our victory over the dark lord, as well as to try and band all houses together.” Many of the upper year Gryffindor and Slytherins snickered at his last comment. “All Slytherins and Gryffindors will work together, and all Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws will work together. Each group will have their own project to do, first years and second years ……”

At that point Harry just stopped listening, he was intrigued about what they would be doing this year, but frankly he didn’t care what the other years will be doing. He was to busy thinking about working with the Slytherins. As much as people might think that Harry would loath working with the other house, he was truly excited. For he had had his eye on a certain Slytherin boy for some time now. Blaise Zabini.

During the long hours of training he got to know Blaise better than he ever had, finding him a very compatible friend. He had learned from a reliable source that Blaise was in favor of men, and that he had his eye on a certain Gryffindor. But Draco (( his oh so reliable source )) didn’t know exactly which Gryffindor Blaise was after.

Harry was pulled from his thoughts when he felt a persistent tugging on his shirt. He looked to his left and found Hermione pointing to the Headmaster.

“Sixth and seventh years will work together to put on a play. You have the choice between Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, or Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera. You have the opportunity to work with your professors in your plays. Professors McGonagall and Snape will be working with their houses, as well as Professors Flitwick and Sprout with theirs. You may also have other professors join in if they wish to. You will have until after dinner to pick choose which you would like to perform. It would be wise of you to converse with your partners during dinner tonight to discuss this and I will come to each group that has any questions. Now enjoy your dinner, Tuck In. ” He finished, as the feast appeared before all of the students.

Harry quietly fixed his plate while he listened to the conversations going on around him. Ron was talking with many of the other male Gryffindors about Quidditch, a conversation Harry just wasn’t interested in joining at the moment, while Hermione and Ginny were talking about the play. He decided the latter was more intriguing than the first, so he listened quietly for a few minutes before joining in.

“Ginny which play do you think we’ll end up doing?” Hermione asked, undecided about which one she wanted to do.

“Well, I think that Romeo and Juliet would be fun. You and Draco would make lovely lead roles…” Ginny continued, ignoring Harry’s fake gagging gesture. “… and I suppose the Phantom of the Opera would be fun too, so I’m not sure.” She finished.

Hermione glanced across the hall to her lover before replying to Ginny. “Yes well, I guess both would be adequate, though I think the Phantom of the Opera would be better. And more people already know the story of Romeo and Juliet, I don’t know. What do you think Harry?” Hermione asked, now looking at Harry.

“I dunno ’Mione. I don’t know anything about Gone With the Wind or The Tempest. I know the basic story of the Romeo and Juliet, but other than that I don’t know much about it. I guess my first pick would be the Phantom of the Opera, I’ve actually read that one, more than once actually. Love the story line, so I guess I want to do that one…” He paused. “ .. Why don’t you get lover boy to come over here so we can see what he wants to do.” He taunted her.

“Ugh Mister, you annoy me. But I’ll comply with your wishes because I love you so.” She toyed with him before beckoning Draco to come join them.

    --------------

After most of the students had finished their dinner, they merged into the groups they were assigned to discuss their projects. And Harry found himself surrounded by many of his friends eagerly discussing which play they wanted to perform for the school.

They had eliminated the two choices of Gone with the Wind and the Tempest, and were now stuck on Romeo and Juliet or the Phantom of the Opera when the Headmaster approached them.

“Good evening everyone. I take it you’ve made your decision on one of the plays…?” He asked

“Actually Professor, were kind of stumped. We know we either want to put on Romeo and Juliet or the Phantom of the Opera, but we cannot chose which.” Hermione answered the Headmaster, explaining to him their current dilemma.

“Ahh yes Miss Granger, well I believe I can help you with that.”

“What do you mean professor?” She asked, confused.

“Well it seems that the other group has chosen to do Romeo and Juliet, and as you are still allowed to do the same, I suggest you choose the Phantom of the Opera.” He provided, saddening many of the students that had their hearts set on Romeo and Juliet

Hermione glanced around the table before providing the headmaster with an answer. “We’ll do the Phantom of the Opera, Professor.”

“Good, that should work out nicely. Now, I suggest that you begin tomorrow and take advantage of the fact that the Quidditch season having yet to begin. Would you like to hold auditions tomorrow?” He asked.

Once again Hermione glanced around the table at all the participants before answering “Yes Professor that sounds good.”

“Wonderful everyone. Your group will be allowed to use the Great Hall for practices, as the other group will be using the Room of Requirement. I will meet you tomorrow after classes to begin the auditions, for Professors McGonagall, Snape, Myself, and a ‘surprise’ guest will choose who will play which parts. Now enjoy your night, and I will see you tomorrow.” He finished and began to head on to a group of fourth and fifth years before Hermione stopped him.

“Wait! Headmaster, I thought the professors would be cast roles as well?” She asked.

“Yes, yes. If needed both professors can be cast roles in the play, but it would be better if we could find students to play the roles instead. If there is a role that no one seems adequate to fill, then either Professor Snape or McGonagall may try out for that specific role. Now, enjoy your evening.” And he left.

    --------------------

Classes the next day passed as uneventfully as they could. In Charms, while the class was trying to do some odd thing involving furniture, Harry caught up on some much needed sleep. Instead of sleeping last night, he had wandered the halls to avoid the nightmares that would plague him if he tried to sleep. He had come back sometime near dawn and had gotten an hour or two of sleep before he was awoken by a viscous nightmare, involving Cedric and his parents.

During Defense, Remus, who had return to teach in Harry’s sixth year, tried to teach the class how to produce their own patronus. Since Harry already knew how to produce his own, he helped Remus in explaining how to do so.

Harry’s last class of the day was Care of Magical Creatures, now taught by his godfather, Sirius. Who was the new teacher this year, filling Hagrid’s position. But no matter how much Harry loved his godfather and was thrilled to have him back, class just wasn’t the same with out Hagrid. He hardly paid any attention during class, he was too busy thinking about which role in the play he wanted to tryout for.

And soon enough classes were over, and all sixth and seventh year Gryffindor and Slytherins were heading toward the Great Hall for auditions.

“Okay, now that everyone is here we shall begin the auditions.” Professor McGonagall addressed the group of students that had now gathered. “ Everyone is required to audition, and we will have volunteer’s go first, and then follow alphabetically. You are will be required to sing your choice of two songs from the play, and act out a section if required. If you are chosen to play a lead role, you will most likely find out today. And if you are chosen to play another role, you will find out tomorrow at breakfast. If you are not chosen for a part, you will be one of many who will be the crew. Okay, who would like to go first?” The professor asked. Eyes searching the group of students.

After a long silence, Draco walked to the front of the group, “I’ll go first professor.” He then followed McGonagall behind a curtain where Harry assumed Dumbledore and Severus were, as well as that other person the Headmaster had mentioned.

It was mere seconds later before they heard an impressive sound coming from inside the curtains as Draco sang ‘All I Ask of You’ and ‘The Music of the Night‘, followed by what Harry recognized as the ‘Little Lotte’ scene. Harry had to admit Draco had an amazing voice, but his performance of his first song was better than his second. He just didn’t seem to have the powerful voice needed to play the phantom.

Draco reappeared from behind the curtain in his usual manner. Harry walked up to him, patting him on the back.

“ That was amazing Draco, where’d you learn to sing like that?” Harry asked, truly having no idea that his friend could sing that well.

“ Really Potter you must have forgotten that I am a Malfoy, we excel in everything.” Draco replied, smirk visibly threatening to turn to a grin.

“Yeah Malfoy , how stupid of me.” Harry said, chuckling.

The auditions continued slowly after Draco. Lavender, Parvati, Millicent, and Ginny all auditioned as volunteered, but none seemed to have amazing singing voices. Collin also auditioned, and Harry had to put up a rather large fight not to laugh as Collin came back out to the group. Dean and Seamus went next, who both proved to have decent voices, and Harry would be surprised if they didn’t get a part.

Harry felt a presence to his right, and turned to see Ron ogling at a group of Slytherins in the corner.

Hmm… I wonder who Ron’s got his eye on. There’s Blaise, probably not… Draco, ha yea right! …. Crabbe, Goyle …. DEFINITALY not … Millicent … hmmm … Pansy … So Ron likes either Millicent or Pansy, that’s odd…

Harry was torn from his thoughts by Ron annoyingly nudging him.

“Come on Harry. We’ll have to go sometime. Hermione just went in, then I’ll go, then you can go, okay?” He asked

“Yea yea Ron, that’s fine. Do you actually want a part?” Harry asked.

“ I dunno, I ‘spose it would be fun working with the Slytherins…” Harry thought Ron would have probably continued if it weren’t for an endearingly sweet voice coming from behind the curtain.

Hermione did a brilliant job, but Harry didn’t think that she would make the lead. She was good, he admitted, just not good enough for something like the lead.

She came out and Ron and Harry congratulated her on a job well done. Ron was about to walk up to the curtain but stopped as he saw Pansy walking in.

“Well I guess we’ll have to just wait a few more minutes.” He said, returning to his two friends.

“How much you wanna bet she’s got a loud set of pipes Ron?” Harry teased. Once he had ‘made friends’ with Draco, the other Slytherins had accepted him, and he had come to know Pansy somewhat better. She was much friendlier when she wasn’t trying to be such a prat, but she did have a loud mouth.

Ron looked like he was going to answer but, once again, he was interrupted by a booming voice.

Harry listened as Pansy sang ‘ Think of Me’ and ‘All I Ask of You’, and smirked at Ron with an ‘I told you so’ look about him.

“Gods you think she’ll be cast as Christine?” Hermione asked Harry

“I dunno, I think she’s actually a little too loud to play Christine, maybe Carlotta?” He suggested.

Pansy walked out of the enclosed area smirking at all the stunned students, and walked up to the trio. “It seems that they found their Carlotta. What, you thought I could do with my mouth was bitch?” She asked Harry

“Actually no, I had a feeling that you would be a good singer.” Harry chuckled, and watched as Ron went up to the tent.

Ron did okay, Harry thought he would probably be cast, like Hermione though. He did well enough to be cast, but not as a major character.

Ron exited the auditioning area looking mildly embarrassed, pink color filling his cheeks. Harry patted him on the back and continued to the front of the room, lifting the curtain.

“Aah Harry my boy, I was wondering when we would see you up here.” Dumbledore commented once Harry entered. Harry nodded and glanced around the small area. Dumbledore was dressed in the most unusual set of robes, like always. He, joined by McGonagall and Severus were sitting behind a long table, covered in a mess of papers. The thing that caught Harry’s attention though was a large hat sitting on the end of the table.

“The other person, is… the Sorting Hat?” Harry asked surprised

“Yes Mr. Potter, you didn’t think I’m used to place students into houses because of my immaculate features did you?” The hat spoke aloud to him.

Harry saw from the corner of his eyes McGonagall covering her mouth with her hand, obviously trying to laugh at the hat’s comment.

“Well Mr. Potter, on with it.” Severus beckoned him

Harry grabbed a script from the stool it was placed on before him, he had already known which ones he was going to sing, but he wanted to give them a once over to make sure he had all the words right. First he sang ‘The Music of the Night’ as it was his favorite song from the play. Harry knew he was well endowed with a fairly good voice, and he sniggered at his all of his professors’ floored expressions. He then continued to sing ’All I Ask of You’. Harry noticed McGonagall putting up a silencing charm before she conversed with the two other people as well as the sorting hat. Harry was confused as to what they could possibly be talking about, but wasn’t allowed to think about it any longer. Because McGonagall had released the silencing spell.

“Marvelous job Harry, may I ask you to sing ‘Think of Me’ please?” She asked.

Harry gave her an odd look before he did so, singing the song that she had asked of him.

If Harry had thought that the three people sitting before him had looked stunned before, they certainly looked dumbfounded now.

“Well, it seems as though we’ve found our Christine Daae, congratulations and move along Harry.” McGonagall said before gesturing towards the entrance of the tent.

“Excuse me Professor, but did you say Christine, but she’s …..” Harry tried to explain his worry but was cut off by a very annoyed looking McGonagall.

“Yes Harry, it’s a lead role. You can handle it I’m sure.” She finished once again gesturing for him to leave.

“Yes Professor I know she’s lead, but she’s ….. a SHE?!” Harry looked at them desperately

“Please Potter, don’t tell me your not up to the challenge of playing a female role?” Severus looked at him amused.

Harry shot his Professor a glare before answering. “.. No Professor, I’m sure I’m up to the challenge .” He answered mockingly, before fleeing the tent, only to find another obstacle before him. Every student in the group was looking at him like he had seven heads.

“Gods Harry! ..” Hermione ran up to him. “.. That was amazing! Did you get lead?” She asked.

“Yes Hermione I got a lead role.” He replied dryly.

“Well which one silly? Raoul or the Phantom? “ She asked

“ Neither Hermione. I’ll be playing Miss Daae.” He answered.
