~CHAPTER ONE~
Nine years later
"Harold!"
"Coming step-mother." 'The banshee calls.'
Nine years later found an eighteen-year-old Harry Potter. He wasn't the adorable little boy but the handsome young man. When he turned eleven, two years after his mother died, his father re-married so he had a mother figure. Unfortunately James passed away a year later. So now it was him, his stepmother, and her two children. He entered into the dining room from the kitchen.
"Yes step-mother?" Bellatix Lestrange was an intimidating woman. Pretty at first glance, until she opened her mouth and gave her opinions. 'She is the devil's incarnate.' Harry thought every time he heard or saw her.
"Where is our breakfast?" She sneered at him. She didn't like the boy. Reminded her of her husband, whom she didn't care for much either, just his title and money. After a year of playing the good wife she wasn't any closer to acquiring it. The brat got all of it and the manor. Not like she was going to tell him. He made a good servant boy.
"Where the hell is breakfast?" Harry turned and saw his stepbrother, Theodore, Theo for short, sneering at him. He is a year older and was exactly like his mother in personality and looks. Theo enjoyed playing games with Harry, or to be more precise, liked playing games that inflicted as much pain on Harry as possible. Oh how he hated him.
"It will be out in a moment." While going to get the breakfast he caught sight of his stepsister. Pansy was just looking at him blankly. She was the nicest out of the three in other words, she ignored him and avoided him as much as possible. She still made fun of him but nothing too cruel or pain inducing. She was relatively quiet when she was with family but around others she was really loud. She loved to gossip.
After he served breakfast he went back to the kitchen/his room. His stepmother said since he spends all his time there he could sleep there as well. It's not his fault he liked to help the cook, when they had one. When the Lady of the house died, most of the staff left. Then when the Lord died, only a few maids, two cooks, and one or two manservants stayed. But after living with his stepfamily they quit. Everyone except for one maid, his best friend Hermione Granger.
Hermione made sure he kept up his studying. He told her that he did his studies already but she said you could never learn too much. She was the sister he never had. Hermione helped him when they gave him chores since they expected him to be able to do everything. But if they caught Hermione helping him then he got in trouble for it. He would have probably gone insane if it wasn't for her.
"Harold!" Harry cringed at the sound of his stepmother’s voice. 'Banshee I swear. And I wish she would stop saying my full name, it makes me feel so old.'
"Yes, stepmother."
"We will be going to the market today. You will be going with us but don't expect this to be a break from your chores. What is it you do in public when with us?" She asked not even looking at him but at her nails. 'I would leave him but I just got my nails done and I don't want to carry anything around.'
"I do not draw attention to myself. I am neither seen nor heard." He said dully. 'And to be your pack mule.'
"Good.” She finally looked up at him and pursed her lips. “You look like you got in a fight with the chimney sweep. Where is that damn boy anyway? Go get cleaned up. You know how to do that don't you?" She asked in a condescending way.
"Yes stepmother." He said clenching his teeth. He walks back to the kitchen with an insult from Theo trailing after him. He glared at a pot on the stove as he thought. 'Why does she... No, don't let her get to you Harry. She just wants you to crack.' He nods to himself and put a kettle of water on the stove to heat up. He hears the door open and sees his other best friend Ronald Weasley, but don't call him by his full first name. Ron was the other person keeping him sane.
Ron was the chimney sweep and was pretty good at what he did. He was the only link to the outside world, besides his so called family. But he didn't want to get in trouble for eavesdropping.
"Hey Harry. What's happening today?" Ron asked as he set his brushes down by the fireplace.
"Pack mule day." Harry said absentmindedly.
"Does she shop every week or something? She is gonna spend all her money." Ron said sounding a little incredulous. Harry just shrugged and then took a seat at the table waiting for the water to heat up more.
"So what's happening in the world of humans?" He asked.
"Humans?" Ron asked confused.
"Yeah, since I live with a banshee/devil's incarnate, son of Satan, and uh... Pansy." He finished a little lamely. Ron stared at him as if he grew another head.
"Mate, I think you finally cracked." Harry just glared at the red head.
"Well is anything happening?" He asked after a minute of glaring. Ron blinked and then nodded.
"The Prince is coming back and his father is throwing him a little party-"
"Little?" Harry interrupted with a snort. Ron just grinned.
"Okay, a grand ball. The king is also trying to get his son to find someone and settle down." Harry just raised an eyebrow at that.
"Right, does the king know his son is bi and leans more towards men?" Harry asked. It was common knowledge that the Prince liked to play around. 'That would be sad if everyone knew but the king himself.'
"Well, yes." Ron said hesitantly. He knew the king was observant. Unless he’s turning a blind eye to it all.
"Then how will they get an heir?" Harry asked curiously.
"Its the royal family, they have magic on their side so the Prince can uh..." Ron stopped talking, not knowing how to say it.
"Knock some guy up." Harry supplied. The kettle started to whistle. Harry took off his shirt and grabbed a rag. The rag was then taken away from him.
"Do you have to be so crude about it?" Hermione asked having come back from her own chores.
"Hey Hermione." Ron said. Hermione just nodded at him. She then started to help Harry clean up, while Ron went to check the chimney.
"Are you going to the market with us? I don't want to go with them alone." Harry asked trying not to sound too desperate.
"I'm sorry Harry. But they're making me stay home.” Hermione responded sounded a little upset but she leaned in and whispered, “But I'll get started on your chores."
"Thanks Hermione." Harry said truly grateful. They heard a fwoosh sound and looked over at Ron. "Ron, I think you got filthier, if that's even possible."
"Thanks Hermione." Ron grumbled.
MARKETPLACE
"Thank you ma'am. Would you like it delivered to your house?"
"No, thank you." Bellatrix said sweetly as she took the parcel from the man, walked around the stall, then threw it on the moving pile of packages. "If you drop one of those packages then you will have no food for a week." She said curtly and then walked away.
"Yes stepmother." Harry said, although it was muffled. ‘That doesn't make any sense since I'm the cook. And stop calling me that!' He thought to himself as he looked over only to see her flirting with a man, who looked rich. He didn't have to look where Pansy was because he could hear her very clearly. She was in a shop that was a little ways away from him. He then saw Theo, who was with his friends and they were all looking at him. 'Not good.' He thought to himself. He glanced behind him and saw two more of Theo's friends standing next to a stall. He knew they were just intimidating him but it wouldn't work. So he pretended not to notice but tensed up when he heard them walking towards him. He knew they wouldn't do anything in public but that didn't mean he wasn’t nervous. They just passed by him but one of them ran into his shoulder. He almost dropped a package but caught it before it fell. Unfortunately his stepmother saw this.
"You are not supposed to draw attention to yourself.” She scolded quietly. She then shooed him in a certain direction. “Go stand by that alley and don't be noticed."
"Yes, stepmother." He said not trying to show his trepidation. He started walking slowly towards the alleyway while keeping an eye on Theo and his gang. When he was at the edge of the alley someone pushed him in. He stumbled but instead of turning and looking behind him, he just started running to the other side.
Luckily it wasn't a dead end alley, it ended up in the food section of the market. He could hear them running behind him so he just started running. He took a sharp turn then another sharp turn and ran into somebody. Which made him drop the packages. He looked up into light greyish-blue eyes and couldn't stop staring until the sound of footsteps brought him back to reality.
"Wha-" Before the stranger could say anything Harry put his hand over the person's mouth. He then grabbed the person and then leaned against the wall. Once the sound of footsteps receded he let the person go.
"I'm sorry! Those guys were chasing me and I had to hide." He said as he finally took a breath. He actually looked at the person he was holding. The stranger was male and very hot, in his opinion. He was pale, yet not in a sickly way, looked toned, was slightly taller than him, and had platinum blonde hair, which made his hair almost silver. He looked like an angel.
"You could have warned me." The so-called angel said almost sneering at him. Harry jerked away from the boy, well at the tone of voice. It reminded him of his stepmother.
"I said I was sorry." Harry tried to say calmly.
"Yeah, whatever." The other boy said dismissively as he walked away. 'He may look like an angel, but he sure as hell doesn't have the personality.' Harry thought as he bent down to get the packages that fell and noticed that one of them had a footprint on it. It wasn't his so it had to be blonde strangers. This made him really mad. Maybe because his anger was building since this morning and he was in a bad mood or he gets treated like that by his so-called family and he didn't need it from a complete stranger.
So he took the packages and hid them and followed the direction the blonde stranger went. He saw him flirting with one of the boys who works at the bakery, went over to them, tapped the blonde on the shoulder, and, when the blonde turned around to look at him, punched him in the face. Then he quickly walked back to where the packages were. Dusted them off as best he could, went back to the clothing section of the market, and saw that they were done.
Harry had to carry more packages but it wasn't that bad. Bellatrix looked slightly unhappy, Pansy looked very content, and Theo looked like he ate a sour lemon. 'Maybe next time I see the blonde I should thank him for making my day much better.'
