Chapter 2
It was several hours later that Harry awoke blinking slowly to bring his eyes into focus. He reached
for his glasses and felt them gently placed into his hand. He put them on and looked around the
room to see who was with him. He saw Ron and Hermione sitting on Ron’s bed waiting for him to
wake.
“Hey mate, how are you feeling now?” Ron asked anxiously.
“I’ll be fine in a little while.” He turned his attention to Hermione. “Did Draco and Pansy make it
here okay?”
“You don’t remember them coming in and Pansy immediately yelling about your screa...“ Hermione
trailed off at the look she was getting from Harry.
“I was a little out of it Hermione, if you remember. But by what you say I’ll take it that they got
here ok. Do you know if they managed to get out before snake-face started throwing curses
around?”
“Neither of them seemed to be injured when they came in. I really haven’t had the chance to talk to
them. As soon as Professor Dumbledore and your father got you calmed down your father carted
them off somewhere to speak to them and they haven’t been seen since. It’s almost dinner time. Did
you want to come down and eat with everyone else or did you want something brought up to you?”
Harry sat and thought about it for a moment then started to get out of bed. “I’d rather go down and
eat with everyone else. Plus I want to make sure Draco and Pansy are ok.” Harry said as he started
to slowly stand. He began to sway slightly, reaching out for something to hold onto. “You just may
have to help me down there though.” Ron and Hermione were immediately by his side and each
wrapped an arm around him as they slowly made their way out the door and down the stairs. They
had just got settled at the table when the fireplace burned with a green glow and three figures
stumbled out of it.
“Ah, Severus, just in time for dinner. Everyone please have a seat. How are you feeling Harry
dear?” Molly said as she began to place platters of food on the table. At the mention of Harry’s
name two sets of eyes immediately swung towards the table.
“I’m fine Mrs. Weasley, I’m more concerned with how Draco and Pansy are holding up.” Harry
replied as he looked over to where Draco and Pansy where standing with Professor Snape. They
each just gave him a simple nod of the head in response before moving to the table and sitting down.
Draco sat right across from Harry while Pansy sat directly across from Hermione and Snape sat at
the head of the table. A moment later Molly sat down and everyone began to serve themselves.
Along with Professor Snape, Mrs. Weasley, and the 5 students were Ginny, Arthur, Fred, and
George Weasley. It was fairly quiet while everyone ate the food that Molly had prepared for them.
As soon as dinner was over the five 7th years excused themselves from the table. They went upstairs
to the study in order to go over the plans that Harry and Hermione had come up with to get them out
of the marriage
“Is this even necessary any more? I mean they are already out of their parents houses, right?” Ron
asked as they all settled in. Harry and Hermione sent him withering looks.
“Yes, Ron, it is still necessary. If I know Voldemort and Lucius Malfoy well enough they will not
let a little thing like this stop them. Right, Draco?” Harry replied, looking to the blonde for
confirmation. Draco merely nodded his head in agreement.
“It’s probably going to actually be more needed now because Voldemort will most likely use the
Parkinson’s and Narcissa as a way to lure them back and go thru with the wedding and bare an heir
right away. We have got to get this plan in motion, but it all depends on how much the two of you
are willing to give up. You have already said that you don’t want to take the dark mark, are you
going to be willing to lose your families as well if that is what it takes?” Hermione told Ron and
then turned to face Pansy and Draco as she asked her question.
“I can’t speak for Pansy, but I want nothing to do with my family anymore. My mother is a
follower of the Dark Lord and always has been. If I went to see her she would turn me over to him
faster than you could say Quidditch. I don’t care what it takes.” Pansy merely nodded, agreeing
with all that Draco had said.
“Okay, do you know the exact terms of the marriage contract? Is there any kind of loophole that
you can think of right away? Something we could use to get it annulled?” Hermione asked looking
at the two Slytherins.
“We were never told the specifics, just that we were to be married at the end of the school year. I
think that Professor Snape might know more about the contract and what it entails.” Draco
responded.
“You are right that I do indeed know more about it then you do, as for a possible loophole, I believe
I have already told Harry and Hermione the only one that I could find. Harry, are you sure you
should be dealing with this now, after what happened this afternoon?” Professor Snape said as he
entered the room and knelt in front of Harry looking deeply into his eyes.
“Yes, sir. I really feel just fine.” At the look he was receiving from the professor he stopped and
rephrased his answer. “Alright, I’m really tired, but we need to do this so that Draco and Pansy
don’t have to worry about the marriage contract. You know as well as I do that unless we break that
it will take effect as soon as they graduate and the ministry will view them as married wether or not
they like it. We can worry about what to do about Voldemort later.” Professor Snape stood, looked
at Harry for a moment before nodding his head and leaving the room.
“Oh, yes before I forget, Pansy, you will be rooming with Miss Granger, and Draco you will be
staying in Harry’s room. Mr. Weasley, your mother said to inform you that they all will be ready to
leave in approximately 2 hours. I suggest that you all retire to your rooms at that time as well.”
Professor Snape said just before fully leaving the room and closing the door behind him.
“Well, that doesn’t leave us much time to plan, so tell us, Potter, what information about the
marriage contract did Professor Snape give you that could possibly help us?” Pansy sneered at the
Gryffindor.
“I just want to make one thing clear here, Pansy,” Harry said in the same sneering tone, “you are in
my home and asked for my help. There will be no name calling, sneering, or other rude comments
made. That goes for both of you. Are we clear?” Both Slytherins nodded their heads. “Thank you,
we will also hold to the same rules, isn’t that right, Ron?” Harry said turning to his best friend, who
blushed and nodded in agreement.
“Alright, now that that is settled, what did Severus tell you that could be a possible loophole,
Harry?” Draco asked this time.
“Well, after I asked him if he knew anything about the contract he said he didn’t but he did have a
copy of it, since he’s your godfather, Draco. He looked it over and told me about a clause that states
if either of you have a child by someone other than each other before the end of your 7th year of
school than the contract would be null and void.”
“Does the child have to actually be born by the end of school or can someone just be pregnant with a
child?” Hermione asked.
“He didn’t actually tell me that, but from the way he said it, I would surmise that as long as
paternity can be proven it doesn’t matter.” Harry responded.
“So let me get this straight, I either have to get some random girl pregnant or Pansy has to allow
herself to become impregnated by the end of the school term in order to get out of this marriage.”
Draco asked in disbelief.
“That’s about it.” Harry replied. Draco looked to Pansy.
“Are we ever screwed.” both groaned at the same time. Silence descended over the room, each lost
in their own thoughts, until Molly called up the stairs for Ron to come down so they could go home.
Harry and Hermione bid him goodnight and everyone went to their assigned rooms, Hermione
leading Pansy and Harry doing the same for Draco.
Once they were safely in their rooms, Harry turned to Draco to let him in on a bit more information
that he had not said downstairs for fear of how others might react. “You know that it doesn’t have
to just be a girl or Pansy that gets pregnant. It could be another boy or you yourself that gets
impregnated. My da- er Professor Snape told me that there were potions and spells that allow for a
boy to carry a child now. I think he might have also mentioned something about soulmates also
being able to conceive with each other without the help of the spells or potions.” Draco just stared at
Harry not fully comprehending what was being said. “It was just a thought. Goodnight Draco.”
With that Harry turned and climbed into his bed. A few minutes later Draco also climbed into bed
after turning out the lights. Both teenagers were asleep almost as soon as their heads touched the
pillow. Unfortunately for one of them it was not to be a restful night.
