Hermione walked over to the wooded side of the lake. She found a large tree, and plopped herself down next to it, letting her back rest against the trunk. The tears kept falling. How on earth could she have been so stupid? To sit there and masturbate in her bedroom, without even shutting and locking the door? She was letting her lust take over her mind. She couldn't even think properly anymore. "The worst think," she though, "is that Malfoy knows! He can spread this all over school! I might loose Head Girl!" She buried her face in her hands, but a sudden thought struck her that caused her heart to skip a beat. What if Harry found out? What if Malfoy told him, or Malfoy's impending rumors got to him? He would think that she was a slut, or worse, a liar. He might think that all she wanted to be friends with him for is to get laid by "The Boy Who Lived". Not to mention Ron's reaction. Not only would he be repulsed by the fact that she was masturbating, he would be hurt that it was over Harry and not him. These thoughts caused a fresh wave of tears to begin their path down her face.
She could distantly hear the bells of Hogwarts ringing, signifying the end of lunch and the beginning of classes. Although she was horribly afraid of what she might meed when she went into the castle, she was not going to let Malfoy spread even more rumors that she was too embarrassed to show her face. She quickly dried her tears, and set off for the castle.
As she made her way to Charms, she didn't notice any odd looks at her, or whispers behind her back. She even passed a group of Slytherins that were bound to know her secret, but they didn't even notice her. She whipped into the Charms door a second before the second bell rang, and boldly made her way to the table that was occupied by Harry and Ron. She sat down and hesitantly glanced at their faces. Ron had his trademark glazed-eye look on already, and hardly seemed to notice that she had sat down. Harry, on the other hand, glanced at her with concern. "Where were you during breakfast?" he asked.
I, um...I was in the library," she lied.
Harry raised his eyebrows, but did not look suspicious."That early in the morning? Well, it doesn't surprise me. But, Hermione, you need to have breakfast in the morning. You know they say that you cant focus on schoolwork unless you have had a full meal inside you first." He grinned slyly. Hermione looked at him, and then smacked him on the arm. He was making fun of her.
"OK, Mr. Know-It-All. I'll have breakfast from now on." She grinned at him, and he smiled back.
The rest of Charms was relatively uneventful. Ron accidentally caused Seamus's robes to fly up in the air when attempting the Repellent Charm, but everything else went smoothly. The rest of the day, the trio were separated. Hermione had Ancient Ruins, and Harry and Ron had breaks which they chose to fill by playing a one-on-one game of Quidditch.
At dinner, Hermione seemed restless. She was nervous about Malfoy. He hadn't told the entire school what had happened that morning yet, and it made Hermione wonder if he had alternate plans. Harry noticed her uneasiness.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing, I'm just anxious about all the homework I have to do." This, of course, was a lie. She didn't have that much homework nowadays, because she normally got it done during her break periods and other classes.
"Oh, OK. Well, let me know if you want to talk," Harry replied.
"Thanks, Harry." Hermione smiled at him.
Later that evening, Harry was lazing back against the armchair he was sitting in. He stared dumbly at the pile of homework in front of him, and wished that Hermione was here to help him with it. He had missed her a lot since she had become Head Girl. She spent most of her time in her common room she shared with Malfoy, and if she wasn't there doing homework, she was out patrolling the halls. Even as he thought this, the common room door opened. Harry looked up to see who was entering, and saw Hermione emerge out of the other side, as if she was summoned there by Harry's thoughts. He grinned and sat up straighter so Hermione could see him. She spotted him across the room and strolled over.
"Hey!" she said. "Where's Ron?"
"Practicing with Ginny and the new beaters," Harry replied. "He wanted some extra work under his belt before the first official practice, I guess, so he left about an hour ago.
Harry was Quidditch Captain now, so he had automatically got to pick out the new team. All of the previous members had been asked to join again, along with two new beaters and a new chaser.
"Oh," said Hermione. "Do you need some help?" She gestured to the piles of paper stacked in front of him on the table.
"Love some," Harry said, grinning.
For the next few hours, they worked on homework together. Hermione had pulled up a chair next to him, and occasionally, his hand would brush against her thigh. It would send shivers up her spine as the thoughts of that morning flooded back to her.
Harry triumphantly wrote the last line of his Transfiguration essay. "Done," he said. "Finally!"
Hermione looked over at him and smiled. "Good job Harry. You have finally mastered the art of doing your own homework with my help, not me just doing the homework for you!" She laughed.
Harry laughed too. "Look," he said, suddenly sobering. "You have helped me a lot tonight. Is there anything I can do to repay you?"
'God, if only you could,' thought Hermione. 'You could take me right now, here, and just release all this build up inside me!' Her mind was racing, and she could feel herself begin to blush. She managed to pull herself together, though, and looked him straight in the eye and smile. "No, Harry. It's really no big deal. I enjoyed spending the time with you."
Harry glanced over at her, and saw her attempt to stifle a yawn. "You need to go to bed," he said, suddenly business-like. "You have helped me for nearly five hours, and we have classes tomorrow. Here, I'll walk you back to your common room."
"That's OK, Harry. I think I can do it by myself," Hermione heard herself say. In her mind, however, and voice was saying, 'Yes, walk me back! Walk me back!'
"No," said Harry. "I want to make sure that you get there OK. Come on."
Hermione allowed herself to be ushered back outside the Fat Lady's portrait, and they walked back to the common room in silence. When they finally got there, Hermione turned to Harry. "Thanks, Harry. I'll see you tomorrow."
"OK, and you had better be there for breakfast in the morning," he said jokingly. Hermione laughed. She was about to turn to walk into the room, when Harry caught her upper arm. He gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "Thanks again," he said softly. He turned abruptly and walked down the hall and out of sight.
Hermione stumbled back into the common room. The cheek which Harry had kissed felt like it was on fire. That one kiss had felt like it had sucked all of the remaining energy out of her. She walked lazily back into her room and plopped down on the bed and fell asleep, not even caring to take off her robes.
