bailed on me after the first chapter I’m afraid so sorry if it’s a bit rough
around the edges. This story is
ignoring the sixth book completely.

Chapter 2: Return of a Father
~
Draco stretched lazily reading Animagus:
The Animal Within, in the third floor study of the Malfoy Manor. His mother had been fussing around from room
to room all day, making sure the house elves had everything in order for a
large scale party that night.
Draco smirked briefly marking his spot in his book to pick
up the Daily Prophet and re-read the blaring headline for the twenty-third time
that day.
Late last night, the Dementors guarding Azkaban left post,
giving the kiss, the final assault of the dementor sucking the life out
the person, to all
Azkaban personal and any none Death Eater inmates.
Reports say the attack was orchestrated by
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and lead by previous escapee, Bellatrix
Lestrange. After the first large
Azkaban break, over fifty Ministry Aurors were placed to help guard the prison. The Daily Prophet would like to extend all
of its condolences to those who had family stationed at Azkaban last night.
Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf.
Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards) was quoted to say
“The true villain behind these attack was none other than He-Who-Not-Be-Named.
His true power is to spread fear and uncertainty, Dementors feed off of these
very emotions, so his appeal to them is strong.”
The ministry is currently on high priority look out for the
following escaped Death Eaters. It is
to be noted that they are all to consider dangerous and willing to kill:
Avery, Daniel
Crabbe, Samlin
Jugson, Marcus
Lestrange, Bellatrix
Lestrange, Rabastan
Lestrange, Rodolphus
Macnair, Walden
Malfoy, Lucius
Mulciber, Burdock II
Nott, Theodore Sr.
Pyrites, Wanda
Rookwood, Augustus
Travers, Jeran

Draco’s smirk grew, as he gave up reading the rest of the
story. He knew it all too well, the
most important part however was his father was coming home. While it had only been a few weeks since
Lucius’s imprisonment, Draco found he missed his father’s dry wit and teachings
now that he was back at the manor.
Lucius, though not always the most paternal of fathers, was
an excellent teacher, not only in the Dark Arts, but in life as well. Draco grinned, flipping one of his long
locks out of his face. Lessons with
Lucius were always the same, consisting of the spell in theory form, learning
everything from general light spells to the darkest of dark spells. Practical Magic usually followed on the
Manor grounds, (it was amazing the things money could let slip by followed by
some tight warding).
By the time he was ready to go to Hogwarts, (due to his
mother’s persistence, Father had wanted Durmstrang) Draco was set to have top marks
in all of his classes, excelling in potions the most. Severus Snape agreed, and was constantly pushing the young
prodigy to brew perfect potions. Then
the Mudblood came to Hogwarts. To say
that Lucius was angry was an understatement.
A filthy Mudblood witch, with less than a few months of time to study
had outdone, him in every subject, including potions, after years of studying
and training. Then to top it all off
the idiot Harry Potter (who refuses a Malfoy’s hand, honestly) had to best the
Quirrell in an attempt to resurrect the Dark Lord. The summer after Draco’s first year had been pivotal.
Training increased to twelve hours a day, instead of the
six Draco had been used to for years.
Fencing and Archery were increased, as well as Seeker training (no way
Potter would best him again!) But the
years continued on, again and again, Draco had come in second in grades to the
Mudblood and second in Quidditch to Potter, and now even the Weasel played.
This year would be different, Draco could feel it, the
winds of change were approaching and something pivotal was about to
happen. His training in the Dark Arts
under Severus this summer had been completed, he had mastered the last three
curses he needed to be incited to the Death Eaters – the Unforgivable
Curses. Glancing lazily at the clock,
Draco stood and stretched. It was time
for his daily work out in the armory.
Sweaty but feeling rather refreshed, Draco made his way to
his room. Practice had been harder than
usual with the return of the Dark Lord over the summer of his fourth year,
training had been stepped up again, and now with his own initiation looming to
the end of his seventh year, training was pushed to the brink.
Upon reaching his room, Draco shed his clothing going
straight to his large bathroom, leaving the clothing lie on the ground. By the time he was out of the shower the
clothing would be picked up and his best dress robes would be placed out for
the gathering that night. Tonight it
was imperative that he look his best.
As predicted, upon returning from his bathroom, there were
his best dress robes lying neatly on the bed.
After finishing dressing, Draco took a good look at his mirror, which
whistled appreciatively (which Draco returned with an embellished wink.) He smoothed his ebony robes and with a swish
of the dark material, was out the door.
There was only a little while until their esteemed guests arrived
and Lucius Malfoy’s return.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Draco smirked as he looked around at the individuals in the large dinning hall. Everyone there was in the inner circle, all
of them wearing black silk robes like his own.
Bellatrix and his father’s robes both had a silver trimming and with a
silver emblem of the Dark Mark on the back.
The Dark Lord’s robes however were completely blood red, making his dark
red eyes shine even more.
Glancing over to the occupants of the room, Draco felt a
giddy smirk take to his face. He was
there in the inner circle, like he was one of them. The guests in the room were eating and chatting quietly among
themselves. It was almost pleasant,
something that Draco had not expected.
Draco was interrupted from his musings as the Dark Lord
stood eloquently at the head of the table.
The hall was immediately silent.
“Tonight we have the special honor of having another
preparing to enter the inner circle of our glorious faction. Draco stands before us.” Draco felt himself rise confidently at the
Dark Lord’s words.
The feeling of honor swelled in his chest, while there were
followers of the Dark Lord in Hogwarts, no student had been given the Dark Mark
during their schooling since the Dark Lord himself had attended. The Dark Lord continued:
“Draco, you’re task while it may seem easy, it is not. You are to simply deliver a message for me,
and participate in the raid we will be planning tonight. I require for you to tell the person who’s
name is on this piece of paper that ‘It is time,’ they will know what you
mean.” Draco nodded taking the piece of
paper of the air in front of him
“Utmost secrecy is required, and it is to be done before
the start of term for our plans to be put in motion.” Draco nodded again, quickly glancing at the name and then burning
the slip.
“I will do my best my lord.” Draco felt himself bow hollowly and sit down. The name on the slip had been a surprise,
but he had schooled his features masterfully.
The Dark Lord knew best.
Bringing himself back to the meeting where the Dark Lord was addressing
Snape.
“…this will need to be done by the end of the summer. I would also like you to start on a special
Heritage Potion I have found.” Draco
smirked as a copy materialized in front of Snape causing the Potions Master to
raise an elegant eyebrow.
“You are dismissed to start on these potions now, Severus.”
The Dark Lord finished with an air of supremacy.
Snape stood with similar air and strode out of the hall
almost angrily. Once Snape was out of
the hall the table was instantly cleared and large parchment appeared on
it. At closer inspection, it turned out
to be a large map of a castle, with small dots moving around on the parchment
One name in particular caught Draco’s attention; it was of
the stupid Irish Gryffindor, Finnegan.
Listening to the plans of the raid, Draco found that not only would the
entire Irish Gryffin-rats family be there, the mud-blood Thomas and his stupid
Muggle siblings would be there, as well the Patil’s (the filthy blood-traitors
they were). After going over entrance
areas and wards around the large (though not as large as the Manor) mansion the
Dark Lord left quickly and the meeting adjourned.
“Father,” Draco blinked as his voice traveled over the
room.
“Yes, Draco,” His father turned to him elegantly, but he
could see the tiredness behind his eyes.
His almost white hair had changed to eerie silver that radiated power;
his light eyes had become steel.
“It is good to have you back,” his father nodded imploring
him to go on.
“How did our Lord know the exact plans and wards around the
Finnegan Mansion?”
His father smirked gracefully, knowingly, “We have someone
on the inside Draco, someone who has accesses to your un-pure classmates,”
Lucius turned to leave but then stopped and spoke again, “You honored me
greatly tonight Draco, you did well.”
Draco felt himself return the Malfoy smirk in pride. The Dark Lord would be victorious, he was
sure of it, and he was ready to be by his side as a loyal follower, and
hopefully confident like his father.”
