Chapter 2: Hermione’s Letter
Hermione
left the Headmaster’s office and headed up to Rowena’s quarters. She muttered
darkly about how she hated the board and where they could go and screw
themselves at.
“Password,” said a
dark lady.
“Tumble Wimble,”
Hermione said.
It opened to let her in.
When
Hermione entered she gasped. Everything was done in rich colors of blue with
some splashes of bronze. There was tastefully done furniture and a huge
bookcase filled with all sorts of books. Hermione was itching to read them, but
decided that she was going to send her husband a letter, telling him what the
board had said. She pulled out her shrunken trunk and tapping it with her wand,
it returned to normal size. Hermione quickly found ink, quill, and parchment,
and sat down.
Severus,
The stupid
board has decided that we can’t be together during the time that you’re
teaching. Gods, I’m going to hate this. However, I want reports on how the
shops doing so that I can have something else to think about then being alone
without you. I love you and I miss you.
Hermione
She then got up and headed for the
Owlery. On her way there she muttered about distance and decided once and for
all that it was time for her to get an owl. If she was going to keep peace and
distance from the rest of the Gryffindors then she would have to have an owl.
Once she arrived at the Owlery, she handed the letter to a barn owl and watch
it take off.
She left Hogwarts and headed back
to Hogsmead. She quickly found the owl shop that she had seen when she first
arrived at Hogsmead all those years ago. When she entered she saw an old man
talking to a witch about the fact that her owl had two heads instead of one.
“It’s not my fault,”
the old man said.
“Well it’s not my
fault either,” the witch hissed. “I want you to allow me to return it so that I
can get a normal owl.”
The old man shook his head and the witch stormed out.
Hermione
shook her head as well and then looked at the different owls that they had.
Finally she found a dark and scary owl that looked perfect. She took it down
and banged it on the counter. The owner looked a little shocked that Hermione
would choose this owl.
“How
much?” Hermione asked.
“Twenty galleons,”
the owner told her. “But, mame, are you sure you want this owl.”
“Positive,”
Hermione said, putting the galleons on the table.
“Very well,” he
said, taking the money. “Her name is Morgana and she’s faithful.”
“Thanks.”
And Hermione took Morgana and left.

“So are you
planning on starting a family?” Remus asked Severus as they headed back to the
castle.
“I don’t know,”
Severus said. “Hermione wants children, but I don’t think I’ll make a good
father.”
Remus looked at him.
“Are you joking,
you’ll make a good father,” Remus said. “I just wished that Tonks would come
around and be with me.”
Severus wanted to retort, but decided against it. However,
he decided to give his advice.
“Write to her,” he
said. “And let her know how you feel. Gods know it took me a long time to
realize that I cared about Hermione.”
Remus grinned at him.
“A little stubborn,”
Remus put in.
Severus gave him a strange look.
“And how would you
know that?” he asked.
Remus shrugged his shoulders.
“I know that both
of you are bull-headed, that’s all,” Remus pointed out. “And,” he grinned. “I
was doing my own brand of spying.”
“Well, well, what
Potter would think,” Severus taunted.
Remus rolled his eyes.
“Like that child
could see anything,” he said. “He’s was so wrapped up in finding a way to
defeat Voldemort that he didn’t even notice that Hermione was always coming
around and visiting you. I don’t even think Ron noticed. However, he would have
noticed if Hermione walked in as a chocolate frog.”
Severus laughed.
“Ya, that sounds
like Weasley to me,” Severus said. “So what did my dear wife have to say this
morning?”
Remus stopped and looked at him.
“How did you know
that she came by?”
“I sensed her,”
Severus said. “I also looked up from what I was doing. I would have invited her
for tea, but she left.”
“Ya, I told her
that you were busy with that huge supply of potion ingredients and that it would
have been unwise to bother you.”
Severus smirked.
“Thanks.”
They continued to walk until both men saw a large barn owl
flying towards them. It dropped the letter at his feet and then flew off. Remus
picked it up.
“It’s from
Hermione,” Remus said, handing it to Severus.
Severus opened it and read, cursing.
“Damn board,” he
muttered, putting the letter away.
“What did she say?”
he asked.
“Their telling her
that she can’t be with me while I’m teaching,” he explained. “Damn board! Here
we all survived a war and their telling us how to live our lives.”
Remus shook his head.
“At least you won’t
have to put up with them for long,” he pointed out. “Five months.”
“Which can’t come
fast enough for me,” Severus said.
Note: Well we know how Severus feels about them.
