It was very late by the time Ronon had finished cleaning his weapons. It was only a few hours before the morning meal, but Ronon knew he would get no rest this night. He had spent hours huffing and puffing through the meticulous task of sharping and cleaning while his thoughts kept him busy. Ronon could not go home. Even now he still needed to remind himself that Sateda was gone, destroyed by the Wraith. Digging deep in his mind for an answer he was no closer to receiving, Ronon knew he didn't really want to leave Atlantis. This was what it seemed to boil down to. The Atlantean people may not like Ronon, but Ronon could feel that Atlantis, the city itself was starting to feel like home. He didn't want to lose that feeling, not again. Even if everyone looked at him suspiciously for the rest of his life, Ronon couldn't handle being alone again.
It was his growling stomach that broke Ronon of his thoughts. He gave a chuckle. It was late, or early depending on how you looked at it. He might as well go scrounge up some food before the mess hall got to full. Ronon stretched out stiff muscles and then put his weapons away.
Walking down a hallway Ronon paused in mid stride. Something compelled him to head for the gate room. Ronon frowned in confusion as he made his way to where the Ring stood. It was early so the room lay mostly vacant except for two warriors on a late watch. Ronon walked cautiously down the steps leading to the Ring. He cocked his head to the side eyeing the Ring, as if waiting for something. He missed the looks that passed between the two Sargents.
"Something wrong, Dex?" Sargent Bates questioned.
The man didn't like him. Ronon knew, but he made acception since the warrior is responsible for protecting his people. Had their situations been reversed Ronon would have killed the man long ago.
"Not sure yet," Ronon spat out the response. He never could understand why Sheppard's warriors always looked to him for answers. Shockingly enough he was beginning to understand Mckay a little better.
The two military officers looked at each other and then eyed Ronon again.
"What does that mean?" Sargent Stackhouse spoke this time.
"It means I'm not sure," Ronon growled back in annoyance.
Sgt. Stackhouse looked over to Sgt. Bates.
"Col. Sheppard or Dr. Weir?" Stackhouse asked.
Sgt. Bates eyed Ronon Dex again before replying. "You notify the Col. I'll call Dr. Weir."
Stackhouse nodded and took several steps away to contact his commanding officer.
Ronon ignored the two Sargents as they followed protocol and contacted commanding personell. His eyes swept the room cautiously again. What is it? Why do you want me here? Ronon thought.
As if Atlantis heard Ronon's thoughts, she responded in kind. Ronon froze as he felt the air in the gate room change. There was a loud crack like thunder that broke the eerie silence. A body appeared right in front of Ronon. To Ronon's amazement, there stood a young boy. Ronon found himself staring into intense green eyes.
"W-where am I?" the boy asked.
Ronon responded without thinking. "Atlantis."
"Oh bloody hell," was all that was heard before the boy collapsed. Ronon caught him before he hit the ground.
"Where the hell did he come from?!" Sgt. Stackhouse demanded as he and Sgt. Bates ran down the steps towards the ring.
"How did he get here? He didn't come through the gate." Sgt Bates added.
Ronon wanted to shoot both of them. "I don't know. And we won't know anything until Beckett has a look at him. So get out of my way," Ronon stated firmly. He settled the boy more comfortably in his arms and headed for the infirmary. Ronon could hear one of the sergeants follow him, but he didn't care at the moment.
Ronon rushed to the infirmary, taking note of how everything 'Lantean went crazy as he passed with the boy he was carrying. He figured the boy must have that gene Beckett is always talking about. He burst into the infirmary, grateful for once to see Beckett standing there waiting.
"Well hurry up lad. Set 'im on the table. Lets get a look at the lad."
Ronon did as instructed and then stepped back to let the doctor work.
"Was he conscious when you found 'im?"
"Yes. He asked a question, but sounded weak. When I answered him he responded and then fainted. he sounded a bit like you Dr. Beckett. The way he spoke. Not like Sheppard and Weir," Ronon explained.
Dr. Carson Beckett frowned for a brief second, but then understood. "Oh aye. His accent you mean. Mines Scottish."
Ronon shrugged. he did not know what Beckett meant so he remained silent.
"What did he ask you?"
Ronon looked away. He knew he shouldn't have said anything, but he had just reacted. "He asked where he was and I told him."
Beckett just nodded and continue to work on his new patient. It was not long before Dr. Weir and a disgruntled Sheppard showed up.
"Ronon, Carson," Dr. Weir greeted. "What's going on?"
"Let me finish Elizabeth and then I'll talk to you."
Dr. Weir sighed and turned to look at Ronon. "Why don't you tell me how you're involved Ronon?"
Ronon who had been watching the boy in the bed, looked up quickly at her. He took a moment to organize his thoughts.
Sheppard opened his mouth to say something, but Weir glared at him to remain silent.
"I was up late, cleaning my weapons. I just finished and was hungry so I headed down to the mess hall for something to eat."
Ronon paused to look at Sheppard. "I didn't understand before when you told us, but I do now. She spoke to me."
Dr. Weir looked confused. She looked to John expectantly. "She?"
Sheppard glanced at Weir, "Atlantis," he explained quickly before turning his attention back to Ronon. Not having the ATA gene made John Sheppard curious as to how Ronon had heard Atlantis at all.
"There was a... pull, to go down to the ring room. It was strange. I could feel Atlantis pull me to stand in front of the ring and then the feeling stopped. The two soldiers on duty were yapping like bonded companions. I was just about to silence them when he appeared. Right there in front of the ring. There was a loud sound, like thunder. He didn't use the ring. It was never activated."
Col. Sheppard looked skeptical, which surprised Dr. Weir but she didn't' comment.
Ronon paused to take a deep breath. "He looked as he still does. Like he he's been through a battle recently. I know a sole survivor when I see one," Ronon explained his gut feelings on the visitor.
He didn't mention how Atlantis reacted to the boy as he carried him to the infirmary. Somehow he didn't think that was a good idea just yet. He knew the Atlantean people would find out eventually. If anything it would be Mckay who discovers it. Once the scientist hears that there is a new off world visitor he'll be in the infirmary with all of his technology stuff.
Both Dr. Weir and Col. Sheppard turned to eye the stranger cautiously. They would have to wait at least until the visitor woke up.
