AN: Thoughts **Mindspeech**
Kingsley sighed in relief as the portkey safely dropped Moody, himself and the Liil’cha, which Kingsley was certain, was Harry Potter in front of Hagrid’s hut. Of course how Harry had become one of Merlin’s Jewels Kingsley didn’t know. The Potter line was not one of the lines that carried the blood and the Evans were a muggle line.
“Alright, Alastor, I need you to find Hagrid for me. Have him bring any and all potions and healing supplies he has for his animals.”
Alastor ‘Mad-eye’ Moody huffed but went quickly to find Hagrid, his magic eyes swirling wildly in its socket. Kingsley turned back to the young dragon laying in the grass. Harry made a beautiful dragon. If this is Harry… His limbs were long and graceful in shape just as his neck and tail were. His body was compact with a deep barrel chest for the large lungs needed to breath higher up in the atmosphere. His wings were large, even folded up Kingsley could tell that they would be one of the largest wingspan of any dragon breed. The young dragons head was long with a wide cranium, suggesting that the dragon would have a large brain and a larger intelligence than a standard dragon. At the base of the Liil’cha’s head the start of its crest feathers could be seen. They were small now but they, like the rest of the dragon, would get larger as he aged.
Under all the thick and drying blood, Kingsley could see that his coloring would be just as impressive. His main color seemed to be a shade of emerald green that was only slightly brighter than his human eyes. A long black streak went from the base of his skull (starting just under the crest of feathers which were cobalt blue with a golden ‘eye’ shape much like a peacocks) all the way down his spine, his wings shaded from cobalt blue into a jade green and had metallic gold markings near the edges. The cobalt blue he noticed was also on the tops of his legs and chest, again following the shading pattern of his wings. More gold was sprinkled throughout his body. Most impressive.
“King’ley!” came Hagrid’s worried below. “I did’na know ya had ‘nother for meh ta watch over.” Hagrid’s eyes widened upon seeing the badly injured emerald dragon. “Oh, lad, he be in’na bad way. But don’ ya worry none. We be ‘elping ‘im get better!”
“Thanks, Hagrid.”
Mad-eye appeared shortly after Hagrid, and quickly went to work in pulling out all the potions and bandages that Hagrid had brought with him. The three worked quickly but efficiently together having patched up Kingsley’s dragon, Saar’loc, on more than one occasion. In the end almost all of the potions that the three of them had were used, even mad-eye’s hidden stash. Fortunately, the Liil’cha would survive. The only sign of the trauma he suffered was a thin scar on his abdomen near his hip. The Liil’cha curled in on himself , wings spread protectively over his body as he slept, his breath coming out in soft ‘murrr’ sounds.
“Ain’ ‘e a cute one.” Hagrid smiled, looking at the sleeping dragon. “The ‘eadmaster is gone righ’ now so’s dis lil’ guy will be safe ‘ere.”
Kingsley nodded. Although he trusted the Headmaster, he could let him know about Merlin’s jewels. The wizarding world just had too many bigots when it came to purity of blood and magical creatures/beings. While the Headmaster might not be one of those people, it was simply safest for all involved if he didn’t know about Merlin’s Jewels.

The world was full of light and wonder even when the sky was dark and the maiden moon was hidden in her dark palace. This time when the world slept and only those brave enough to dance through the Maiden’s night were about, was the only time that Saar’loc ever felt truly alive. It had been too long since his rider had been able to dance in the wind with him. He had nearly forgotten what it felt like to have his Rider there, on his back as they soared above the moors and the clouds. But this night was still his. The wind still danced with him, the scent of wet grass, flowers, and the rich musky scent of unicorns danced through the night with him.
This night was his, only his and the other night loving creatures of the sky and forest. They savored the richness of the summer night before the world changed seasons and slid into the stillness of waiting for the winter death. And then after the stillness was gone and the winds no longer howled out the cold tunes and began to once again seduce him back to their loving embrace, the night would be his again. And perhaps if the Mother Moon watched him and loved him, he would find another who so desperately wanted to dance in the wind with him. Who would join him in the new birth of life to the world.
Saar’loc continued to fly for some time before heading back towards the edges of the forest and the grounds of Hogwarts. The winds were changing bringing with them the scent of his rider and- Surprised Saar’loc stopped abruptly in mid-air, hovering- A young dragon! Not much more than a Liil’cha. But still, another like himself! Shaking the surprise from his head Saar’loc made his way towards the ground. As he backwinged for a landing the wind shook the trees, leaves blew off going everywhere. A small herd of wild deer fled as he landed in the small clearing. While it was small in comparison to him, it was quite a large clearing in comparison to the herd of forty-some deer.
The forest was silent as it always was when one of its large predators was on the hunt. The other animals knew he wasn’t hunting them, but it was still the wisest choice to remain out of his sight.
Saar’loc moved quietly, making his way slowly towards the clearing near Hagrid’s hut. When it came into view he moved his large head from side to side looking for the best vantage point to see the sleeping dragon resting so near to HIS rider. He spotted a place near the tree line where the bushes grew thick and high. Taking careful steps to avoid breaking any tree limbs, doing his best to not be noticed. He had to know more about the sleeping Liil’cha who seemed to have stolen his rider from him.
It’s not fair. He is MY rider. This hussy of a Liil’cha shan’t have him! He stayed behind the bushes, watching as the two humans and his rider fussed over the little dragon. Eventually his rider placed his hand on the little dragons head, cooing softly before leaving with the other two. Saar’loc watched as they left.
With a deep growl vibrating in his throat, Saar’loc carefully made his way into the clearing. As he stood over the young dragon, he took in its battered appearance. Even beaten it will be far more beautiful than I. A Jade Jewel.
Anger burnt a deep twisting path through Saar’loc’s heart. He had waited so long for a rider to choose him and now along comes this pretty little thing to take away the only joy he had even known in his life. He had never been good enough. Not as a Jewel and not as a wizard. Nothing more than some worthless little mutt, cast aside by its own parents.
Not good enough. Never good enough! With the deep twisting rage building in his gut and the deep seated self hatred rearing its head from the place he had bottled it deep inside, Saar’loc leaned over the younger dragons exposed neck. Saar’loc’s teeth glinted white in the moonlight. His jaws opened wide and Saar’loc bite deep into the young dragon’s neck his amber eyes glowing red in his anger. The young Jade Jewel cried out in pain and fear. It’s fear fueling Saar’loc’s violence. Even as Saar’loc bit down deeper and the young dragon began thrashing, violently trying to get away, it’s talons digging deep furrows in Saar’loc’s glittering black hide, he was aware of someone crying out his name. Magic hit his side, most of it sliding harmlessly off his scales. Fists bigger than a normal humans, grabbed at his jaws trying desperately to force them open. Still that voice was screaming at him, but it only fueled the fear inside that was birthing the anger and self-hatred inside.
**You can’t have him! He is my rider! This is my territory! Get out! GET OUT! I WON’T LET YOU TAKE HIM FROM ME!**
Blood filled his vision, and pain was begging to worm its way into his mind. Those hands felt as if they would break his jaws. The magic being used against him was becoming more violent, more of the curses were actually doing damage. **I WON’T GIVE HIM UP TO YOU!**
Darkness claimed him sooner than the pain.

AN: Sorry for the delay in posting, but if you have watched the weather channel or the news you will understand why. The storm that hit my area was pretty bad. And we were told not to expect to have power back in our grid until Christmas. Then we end up with more rain storms and snow storms. I’ll be glad when spring comes and all I have to worry about weather wise is the occasional rain shower. Then work and frantic begging by led to having to help paint my Mom’s kitchen, kept me from having the time to just sit and write.
Anyway, I hope that you will all enjoy this chapter of the story and that if you like this version will check out the other version in the Male x Male category. It will hopefully be updated by next weekend.
Translations:
1. Saar’loc - a male dragon name meaning ‘eclipse’ or ‘hidden sun’
Misc:
1. ‘Maiden Moon’ and ‘Mother Moon’ are just different faces/names for the Goddess that Saar’loc prays to. The Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone are all one and the same.
