- When Harry entered the Great Hall, the whole room hushed. There was the tiniest hint of whispering.
“And here he is now, the dinner guest of honour,” said Dumbledore.
Then the whole room exploded with cheers and whistles. He sat down next to Ron. Hermione, unfortunately, was killed in the war. Harry would have given anything to give her life back. He wasn’t there when she was hit by the curse, but he heard the story. How Ron fought Lucius Malfoy, and Lupin was also killed by Lestrange’s husband after fighting Bellatrix to avenge Sirius, and Hermione fought
Just last year Harry, Ron, Hermione, Snape, and Dumbledore learned that Lupin was in love with Sirius. Lestrange killing Sirius hit him worse than it did Harry. Lupin successfully killed Bellatrix Lestrange, Harry successfully killed Voldemort, and Malfoy successfully bloodied Ron up bad before Draco had come to Ron’s rescue.
The ones who were not killed, like Lucius, went to Azkaban when the dementors went back to the good side. In other words, after the war.
“What’s going on? I come in and everyone cheers for me, and when I was in the shower Snape told me I was the guest of honour,” Harry asked Ron
“Didn’t you hear? You’re going to get an award. Look. The minister is also here.” Ron pointed up at the head table, and Harry saw Fudge sitting to Dumbledore’s right. Fudge was slightly disappointed. Seated to his right was Percy. Like always, he had a scroll of parchment and a quill to take notes.
Fudge stood up. “Thank you, Dumbledore.” Dumbledore nodded. “Now, there are a few awards I would like to give out tonight. The first is for someone who was an enemy to someone in school but was a friend to the same person at war. This boy saved that same someone’s life; Draco Malfoy.”
Everyone cheered, even the other houses. Ron was cheering the loudest because he was the one who was helped by Draco. Harry had not believed it until then, when Malfoy was getting the award.
“My next award goes to everyone, because we all had people in the war who were killed by the hands of You-Know-Who and his followers. Let us have a moment of silence for all those who have left us.”
After the moment, Fudge continued. “The next awards are for those who fought bravely and lost their lives. These awards will be hung up in the school somewhere. I don’t know exactly where. But each person has his or her own award with his or her name on it.”
Dumbledore stood up. “Just a moment, before you give the last award, I would like to say where these will be hung. They will be here in the Great Hall. A picture of them all, taken by Collin Creevey, will be hung as well. Thank you, Collin, where ever you are.” He sat down.
“He hears you, Professor,” Denis yelled.
“Now, the last award goes to the one who fought and killed You-Know-Who himself,” Fudge said slowly. “Harry Potter.”
No cheers were heard. Harry looked up at the table again. He didn’t move.
“Go on, Harry,” Ron whispered.
“I can’t,” Harry whispered back. His eyes were on Snape. Snape was sneering, mouthing something. Harry couldn’t make it out, but it spooked him and made him mad at the same time.
