Night Flight -- ch. 2
CHAPTER TWO
The next day, Malfoy sat at the breakfast table, picking at his waffles and glaring at his eggs.
’Damn Potter,’ he was mumbling to himself. ’Damn him and his knowledge of how much I love flying, and how upset I am that I don’t actually own a Firebolt and how much I miss playing Quidditch against him and…damn him and how well he knows me!’
Draco slammed his fists onto the table angrily, causing several of the other Slytherins to stare at him. He glared at them and then turned his gaze to Potter, who was sitting at the table with Ron. Hermione had died in the final battle, and Ron had broken down afterwards. He’d started cutting, doing muggle drugs, and tried to kill himself…Draco lost count of how many times. It was pathetic.
He sighed as he met Harry’s steady green gaze.
Yeah, he did want to go flying again tonight. So what?
He huffed and pushed away from the table. Better to be early for Potions than late; he walked down to the dungeons and grabbed his potions stuff. He made it to the classroom with ten minutes to spare until the bell rang.
He sighed again and slid down the wall. ’I just want to sleep…just once…peacefully. I just want a good night’s sleep just once this week…just once this month, even.’ He put his hand over his eyes and exhaled.
Potter came around the corner as silently as death. He watched Draco sink to the floor and cover his eyes. He walked over to the blond and knelt by him. Very gently, he took Draco’s wrist and pulled his hand off his eyes. “You okay?”
Draco jumped a mile when he felt someone grabbing his wrist. It was deadly silent; he had no idea there could be anyone there. His eyes flew open, and he was met with that stupid green gaze again. He glared slightly. “What do you want this time, Potter?”
Harry just looked down at him and smiled. He tilted his head to the side and opened his mouth. Then he shook his head. He seemed to be debating what he should say, or if he should say anything at all.
Draco had just made a move for his wand when he felt Harry’s hand over his wrist again. “How do you move so damn fast?” he snarled as Potter pinned his arms to the ground.
Harry was still not saying anything. Then he leaned forward and brushed his lips across Malfoy’s. He pulled back and laughed lightly as he saw Draco’s naked shock.
“Feeling better today, Malfoy?” Harry asked nicely.
Draco stared at him and then slid away, pushing himself along the ground. “Get away from me, Potter! I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but you had better stop it!”
Malfoy was saved by the bell as it rang and he ran into the classroom.
***
Harry waited for a few minutes for Draco to arrive that night. He had his broom with him already this time. When it became obvious that he wasn’t going to show, Harry shrugged and pushed off the ground. He knew he had time to wait for Draco.
After he flew up and down wildly for half an hour, Harry was laughing and shaking his head. He flew in circles above the stands. He started in big circles, and then they got tighter and tighter as time ticked by. By the time another half hour passed, Harry was dizzy as hell, and seemingly chasing his tail in the air.
His smile was glowing in the night’s darkness as he looked around the Quidditch stands. He saw a flash of light and glanced over at the Slytherin stands. Seeing the pale blond sitting alone in the stands, Harry flew over to him.
Draco knew Harry had spotted him as soon as he felt the shift in mood. He wondered if he should stay or leave, when suddenly, Harry was hovering in the air over him, smiling as he looked down.
“Want to hop on, Malfoy?”
Draco eyed the broom with caution. It seemed to be vibrating a bit, like it itself was dizzy from all the crazy flying Harry was doing.
“Umm…” he said before he shook his head. “Not really; I just came out here because I thought you’d be here and I wanted to ask, um…”
Harry drifted over the stands more, and slid off his broom. He took a seat next to Malfoy and laid his Firebolt at their feet. “You wanted to ask what?” he prompted.
“Uh, I wanted to ask…what that was about,” Draco said. His face flushed and he looked down at his shoes. “In the corridor before Potions…what was that?”
Harry smirked and looked around the stands. “What do think it was?”
Draco slid away from Harry and looked at his fingers. “Um, it was…well, it was a…a kiss, but I just wanted to…to know why…you would… kiss…me.”
Harry’s smirk faded as he glanced over at Malfoy. The Slytherin was beet red and looking for a way to escape. He watched as Draco’s eyes landed on his Firebolt. “You wanted to know why I would kiss you.”
Draco nodded and his fingers tensed as he thought about how easy it would be to escape if he could just get on Harry’s broom before Harry knew what was going on.
“Well,” Harry said slowly. He ran his hand through his hair, which got Draco’s attention. He stared at Draco, as he watched the other’s pupils grow in those silver pools. He leaned forward and asked, “You really want to know why, Malfoy?”
Draco nodded again and swallowed; he couldn’t seem to tear his gaze away from those green eyes. He reached his hand out to reach for the Firebolt when he felt Harry’s fingers around his wrist again.
Harry leaned in further and met Draco’s lips again. He kissed Malfoy gently and slowly eased his tongue between the soft lips. He brushed his tongue against the roof of Draco’s mouth and felt Draco finally start to kiss back. He let go of the pale wrist and ran his hand through Malfoy’s hair, their mouths still working in delicious harmony.
After another minute, Draco pulled away and scooted back quickly. “What the hell was that?”
Harry smiled and shook his head. “It was another kiss.”
Draco looked up at him and asked, “Why?”
Harry shrugged. “I wanted to; I still do. You make me feel alive.” Harry looked up into the sky as one of his ears twitched. “You’re scared?”
Draco’s eyes widened and he scooted back. “How did you…what? No!”
Harry smiled softly and held his hand out. “I’m not going to hurt you, Malfoy. Come here,” he said softly.
Draco shook his head and retreated more. “What do you want from me, Potter?”
Harry winced and glanced up at the sky again. He knew once the clouds moved off the moon and Draco saw his mouth, he was busted. He sighed and stood up. “Look, Malfoy, if you don’t want anything to become of this, just tell me.”
“Well, I…” the blond stammered. “I…wait, are you serious? But…why would you even…why would you even want to kiss me in the first place?”
“I told you, Malfoy,” Harry sighed as he gripped his broom. He glanced up at the sky again. The clouds were shifting. “You make me feel alive. Here, come with me. Let me show you something.”
He mounted his broom and drifted over to Malfoy. The Slytherin slowly stood up and looked at Harry. “What do you want to…show…me, of all people?”
Harry held his hand out and said, “It’s a surprise.”
Draco slowly climbed on the broom again, sitting in front of Harry. At least in this position, Harry couldn’t kiss him.
Harry pushed off the stands and flew gently into the sky. “Are you really that scared, Malfoy?” he whispered.
Draco smiled and held onto the broom. “I’m scared you’re going to start flying around like last night again. It was fun, but terrifying, you know what I mean?”
Harry smiled and nodded. “Yeah,” he said as he wrapped his arm around Draco again. “I know what you mean.”
Draco inhaled sharply when Harry’s arm wrapped around him. “Don’t start flying like that again, Potter.”
Harry laughed and said, “I’m not going to. That’s not what I wanted to show you.”
Draco looked over his shoulder and met that damned green gaze again. “Then what do you want to show me?”
Harry smiled gently. “You can tell me no,” he whispered as he kissed Draco’s neck. He slid his arm down slightly as he ran his hand across the inside of Draco’s thigh. Draco’s heart beat changed from one of fear to one of nervousness.
“Um…” the blond stammered as he felt Potter’s hand drifting across his groin. “Uh, Potter…what…what are you doing?”
Harry ran his teeth over Draco’s neck. He grabbed the bulge that was quickly forming in Draco’s pants and growled in the back of his throat. “I didn’t know you had nightmares, too, Malfoy,” he whispered as he rubbed Draco through his pants.
Draco pushed back into Harry’s body, taking deep breaths as he tried to hear Harry’s whisper. “Yeah,” he panted as he groaned lightly. “Yeah, I hardly ever actually sleep anymore.”
Harry nuzzled Draco’s ear and sucked on his earlobe as he kept them drifting through the air slowly. “You don’t look like it,” he purred. He licked Draco’s ear and sighed, “Still beautiful and passionate as always.”
Draco whined lightly and grabbed Harry’s hand. “Wait, what are we doing?” he asked. His whole body was aching for this touch, this insatiable hunger that he felt. He felt Harry’s teeth scrape his neck again and he shuddered.
“You won’t turn this time, but I’m going to make you happy at least once, even if I have to try forever,” Harry purred as he bit down into Draco’s neck. The blond screamed as he felt blood pumping out of the wound. Harry’s hand was gripping his shirt tightly as the Gryffindor floated them gently to the ground.
Draco felt his feet brush the grass as Harry stopped the descent. Potter was still sucking the blood from his neck. He whimpered and felt Harry pull off his skin. Potter’s tongue lapped across the punctures.
Harry waved his hand at the door to the castle and flew inside, staying slow and low to the ground. He flew down to the dungeons and stopped in front of the Slytherin’s door.
Draco whispered, “The password’s Banana Viper,” and fell back against Harry. Harry wasn’t bothered by it; he could still hear a strong heartbeat. Draco was fine.
The next day, Malfoy sat at the breakfast table, picking at his waffles and glaring at his eggs.
