Stephanie had found the case and it was heavy, so no need to panic about packing. Yet she had a curiosity to see what was in it. On top was a list, checks obviously next to things that she had already gathered and put in. She drug the suitcase over to her bed and sat down, she was going to have to see what she needed and she wanted to look at the things picked out for the school year, she wanted them to be something she wouldn’t mind wearing or having.
She read the list out loud to herself, “Hygiene products – Check. Clothes – Check. School robes – Check. School supplies and books – Check. Cat – Check.” Stephanie tilted her head at the last thing, a cat? Where was the cat, was it long haired? Hopefully not, her allergies would go nuts – even though cats were her favorite animals, she was pretty allergic to them.
On that thought she opened up the case, looking at the variety of clothing she had in it, there had to be more than one case, right? Including since the paper in her hand went on to say ‘Fall, Winter, and Spring – Check’ she groaned softly. Where were the others? Oh well, at least this would give her a taste of what ‘she’ dressed like. Looking in the case she found things similar to what she would normally wear – dark colors mainly, only a few light ones here and there. She let a bright smile settle on her lips, this was good – extremely good! The other her had great taste.
“So – lets go find the other ones I packed,” she shuffled around the room, finding the other two. Each was a different color. The first one she had was a rusty brown, then a snowy white, and finally a forest green. “Goodness, the other me is such an organization freak,” she broke down the colors to the seasons and was semi-glad that it wasn’t her usual unorganized ways.
Her mother barged in seconds later, “I said ten minutes sweetie. Are you ready yet? Oh yes, you have a friend here too. Don’t be too long, both of you need to catch the train.”
“Friend?” a quizzical look was given as Stephanie tilted her head. Who could this be?
“Ste—STEPHANIE!? It’s really you, oh goodness! I thought I was the only one going crazy, but no – ” the girl babbled on happily as Stephanie stood there in awe.
“Adrianna?” Stephanie cautiously said, hoping not to break whatever hallucination might be going on. She feared that this was only her mind playing tricks – the whole thing, but now her friend was in it, ranting on about how she thought she was the one going bonkers.
“Yes, yes it’s me! Yay! Wa…wait.” Adrianna frowned. “This… this means that this is all real, we can’t both be having the same dream same time – same everything. Oh my…”
“It’s not that bad, is it?” Stephanie looked over at her mother, clearing her throat slightly. This must be sounding quite odd to her; she then looked over at Adrianna once again – waiting for her reply.
“Not really, but it’s still not natural, much less something that anyone would’ve thought possible. Stephanie we’re in a bo – ” Stephanie’s hand covered the other girls mouth as she laughed nervously, peering over at her mother as she then began to move out of the room.
“Adrianna, shush, they can’t know. We know everything that goes on, EVERYTHING. Granted things will change now that we’re here, but we’re valuable to Voldemort if he were to find out,” Stephanie whispered harshly to her friend once they were in the hall and out of ear-shot.
Stephanie noticed Adrianna nod as there was a silent agreement between the two. Her mother came down the hall as she forced a slight smile, leaving the two be, but giving a slight warning. “You two should come down now. Stephanie, your suitcases are downstairs now and your cat is caged too – ready to go,” with that she continued on until she was out of sight.
“So, Stephanie, your mother seems nice – so does your father. You figure out when you were born and what not?” Stephanie nodded to her question as she quickly moved back towards her room. “Why are we going back to your room?”
“A book, like a baby book – ‘least from what I gather, Father gave it to me – tells me their names and everything and my birthday is the same month and day, but 82’ is when I was born instead of 1990. Meaning you’re born the same year as me. I haven’t read the rest of it, but I think it might come in handy. Did you get anything similar?” Stephanie looked over at the other girl, curious.
“Well, yeah, but I haven’t gotten time to open it. Was sort of told that we were coming over here, granted I heard the last name and immediately hoped it was you. I packed it in my bag, all I needed to really know was the year I was born. We’re eleven now and going on twelve soon. Pub…erty…all..over again,” Adrianna groaned at the thought.
“Yeah…” Stephanie coughed slightly, changing the subject. “At least we’re doing something that no one else has done, right? So this should be amazing, I mean common – look at us, we’re like from a totally different… world …dimension type thing. Thing I’m worried about is us being separated into other houses and not… being able to see each other much.”
“I usually test out Gryffindor or Slytherin!” the other girl exclaimed.
“Uh… it doesn’t honestly matter what you test out on an opinion, including in our world. Highly doubt you’d be in either. You’re more Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff… so on so forth. Both of those sound like your values. You play by the rules too much and you really don’t like to get into much danger and mainly get perfect grades – Well you know what I mean, right?” Stephanie gave a soft laugh at Adrianna’s disapproving look, “you have qualities of other houses Oddy, but you don’t have as many in common as you do with the two houses I mentioned.”
“So what would you be? I dunno, but I see you as a Slytherin or Gryffindor,” the girl look almost thoughtful as Stephanie raised a brow at her decision.
“Even though the two contradict each other a bit, I have more Slytherin in me than Gryffindor to be honest,” Stephanie chuckled nervously at this. “I mean, common. I don’t run away from danger and I get into things that are dangerous cause I like to help – which is pretty Gryffindor, but I’d only help out people like friends or people I favor once in that danger – ya know. Sorta more Slytherin, I guess… I mean, in a sense – it’s helping me out.”
“Yeah, agreed – but still, Stephanie.” Adrianna cleared her throat, “we have to get downstairs, now, goodness loss track of time! Remember, whatever happens – happens. We just have to promise each other that whatever occurs between us, we’ll be friends.”
“We will, I promise. Though, you know – if I’m sorted into Slytherin I’m going to try to get close to the dark side and become a spy for the light. They need that, Severus can’t do everything for them – they don’t even know he’s one and… goodness, if I can help out just because of the house I’m in – I should, right!?” Stephanie gave a weak smile, knowing that the things in her mind – swirling thoughts – would be extremely dangerous.
“Just don’t kill yourself! Really now, you’re not much use dead – seriously. Stephanie, if you decide to run off and act like a Death Eater or what not to help Harry out… whom you’re going to have a difficult time befriending just because of the house you’re in. So befriend the trio first before you go off acting like a hero – no use being useful if no one trusts you.” Adrianna snapped in a motherly tone causing Stephanie to laugh, covering her mouth to contain the noise.
“Alright, alright. I won’t – MOM,” Stephanie giggled as her friend whapped her slightly on the head. “Heeey, don’t be mean now, Oddy! Now common!”
Stephanie motioned for Adrianna to come with her as she began to walk down the hallway as though she’d lived here all her life, even though she apparently had. She was glad that it felt like second nature to do this, at least it wasn’t hard for her to navigate the house – if it was, her parents would be even more bothered by her strange behavior. In minutes she was downstairs standing next to her things, Adrianna right behind her – her parents came over and hugged her – kissing her on the cheek. Stephanie watched the exchange before looking over to her own parents walking over, they did the same and wished her well.
“We love you Stephanie, just be safe. Whatever house you… get into, e…even Sl…slyt…” her mother couldn’t say it, right now it was a dangerous place in her mother’s mind, no parent wished danger upon their kid.
“I love you too, Momma – Daddy. Don’t worry, no matter what house I’m in, I will always be on the side of light, I promise,” Stephanie hugged her parents back once more before they walked Adrianna and herself out the door, the sound of wheels rolling across the ground. She hadn’t even thought to look in the cage that held her cat…
----------
It was minutes later that they were in London – apparently; it’s not like Stephanie knew what London was like. She wasn’t paying attention really to anything in particular either. As they stopped she looked up at a sign King’s Cross Station was written in bold letters, she was guided out with Adrianna and their things as they all walked towards platform 9 ¾ .
“Here you go, here is your ticket Stephanie. We’re here,” her father handed her a ticket and then grabbed her in for one last hug – her mother joining in. “We love you hun, now go have fun and learn!” He smiled down at her and ruffled her hair, Adrianna receiving pretty much the same treatment from her own parents.
“Mhm, goodbye, Daddy – Momma.” Stephanie kissed both on the cheek before looking at the wall, this was going to be strange. Okay, clear your mind and go through it – no nervousness.
She made a dash towards the wall with her things, going through with a ‘woosh’ sound – Adrianna following seconds later after saying her goodbye’s. Stephanie gasped at the bustling movement, looking around. She had Adrianna though, but she took a moment to go around to the front of her luggage looking into the cage, her eyes bugging out as she made a sound of surprise. Adrianna looked over at her, confused.
“Stephanie, what is it?” Adrianna stood right next to her, looking into the cage herself, blinking. Looked like her cat to her.
“Adrianna, this is Sesshomaru, he’s here with us!” Her cat was with her, her baby! Oh goodness she was so happy. She laughed softly, the little black and white cat mewling softly in an excited tone to see her once more.
As the words sunk in for Adrianna, she nodded – the only reason it hadn’t shocked her was the thought that it was… normal. This wasn’t normal though. She patted Stephanie on the back before beginning to drag her by one arm over to the train, Stephanie’s free arm grabbed onto her luggage. They were finally on the train for first years.
Both were now on their way to Hogwarts to find out… what house they were in and what role they would play.
