Slowly the small child came to, staring up at the dark cob webbed ceiling above him. Blinking a few times his mind spinning at the trying to find out where he was. The child sat up abruptly as the door opened and in stepped atall woman in a long skin tight black dress. Her face calm and unemotional even as she gracefully glided toward him.
He backed up against the large wooden headboard and she gave a soft smile and spoke to him, "Calm my child. You are safe here."
He blinked in confusion and shook his head.
Morticia gave an almost unseeable frown as she sat on the bed near him, "Yes you are. I found you in my graveyard. So naturally you are mine. Tell me do you have a name already?"
The child blinked and nodded pointing to himself, "Freak," his emerald green eyes wide.
The Addams matriarch gave a small huff, "Well that's silly! Perhaps a new name? Since you are mine now."
The boy smiled brightly crawling closer to the thin pale woman.
She lifted him and placed the child on her lap holding him close, "Your little snake friend seems to be very protective of you. Midgard I think it suits."
The newly named Midgard smiled brightly and nodded before looking at her, "What's your name?"
Morticia smiled, "I am Morticia Addams, but you may call me mother if you wish. Would you like to come meet the rest of your family Midgard Addams?"
He nodded and she put him on the ground standing and holding out her hand. Leading the boy out the doors and down the long hallway and steps, they came into the large dining room where the rest of the family sat. Morticia smiled as she watched the boys eyes widen in awe at the people who were gathered in the room. Leading him to a seat she sat him down before walking to her husband giving him a gentle kiss, "This is Gomez my husband and your new father."
She continued to point to each person and introduce them, "Then to your left and right are your new brother and sister, Pugsley and Wednesday. Then across from you is you Uncle Fester."
The man gave a chuckle of laughter giving a wave as the two siblings gave him an almost creepy smile that seemed to spell disaster.
Pugsley picked it up from their pointing to the elder woman in frumpy black clothing, "That's grandmamma! And on her shoulder is Thing!"
Midgard gasped at the moving hand on her shoulder then even more so as it jumped down from her should and over to him then backed off when the snake around his neck hissed in warning.
Gomez gave a cry of excitement, "Tell my son who is your lovely pet snake? Does he have a name?"
The boy frowned and turned to face his snake friend, "Do you have a name? I'm sorry I didn't ask earlier."
The entire Addams family watched in amusement and awe as the snake then began to respond in the same hissed language.
"Silly Little speaker. Yes I have a name, but it is not easily spoken by humans. Perhaps you should give me a name of your own choosing."
The Parseltongue frowned, "I don't know of a good name. Can I look one up and give you one later?"
The snake nodded and He smiled brightly turning to the odd family, "He doesn't have one yet! I want to find one for him!" his voice faltered suddenly, "I'm sorry."
Fester frowned, "What for?"
Midgard shifted in his seat, "For acting like a freak."
Gomez gave a big booming laugh, "Nonsense! We welcome you and your talents! My lovely Morticia here is a master at potions! I know! Pugsly and Wednesday can help you find a name for your young snake friend! It will give you all a chance to bond! And they can show you the family pets we have about here!"
The two mentioned children turned to face one another and smiled creepily before grabbing their new little brother's arms and dragging him off.
Morticia called out sweetly, "Children play nice!"
A chores of 'we will' followed as the three children turned the corner and disappeared from sight.
Midgard looked about him in surprise as they stepped into a room full of spiders in glass containers. His eyes widened as his new sister stuck her hand unafraid into the large tarantula. She smiled and showed it to the smaller boy, "His name is Homer! He is my favourite."
The boy smiled and watched her put him away before she pointed out the window to a large vulture perched on a tower, "And that's Zelda!"
Pugsley drug the boy down the hall to a closed door where a few vines could be seen curling beneath it. Pointing he gave a bit of a shrug, "That's mother's African Strangler Plant. She calls her Cleopatra! Then we have the family lion, Kitty Kat."
Midgard frowned, "Kitty Kat?"
The thin girl beside him laughed and nodded, "then there are the piranhas! They are named Tristan and Isolde! And of course Pugsley's octopus Aristotle."
The small boy laughed brightly, "I think I will like it here."
Pugsley nodded before wondering off in a random direction leaving him alone with Wednesday. She smiled down at him and tapped his nose, "Let's find a name for your snake shall we? Then after that I can show you around the manor more! Mother will probably want to home school you to!"
-Time lapse One Year-
A year had passed in the Addams Family home and Midgard has fit himself into the family with ease. Even his snake now named Eusebius. He had acquiredanother snake over time as well as a mate for Eusebius who had named, Tatu. It seemed like his entire life was falling together. He had a sister who loved him and a brother who loved to test things on him at random occasions, which he didn't mind because he himself loved to play pranks on his dear older brother.
Even now standing in front of the mirror at himself he smiled brightly. Wednesday had talked him into growing his hair out and even now it fell neatly to his shoulders in loose curls. He didn't know why but he enjoyed it greatly.
Morticia was a wonderful philosopher and Gomez knew the ways around a blade and many pranks. He was always pleased to practice strange potions withMorticia, Grandmamma and Thing was a better cook than most. The only person he still wondered about was Lurch. The tall doorman was strange and mostly silent and never seemed to say anything much.
He looked around his room and smiled. It had changed a lot over the year. It was now almost completely filled with odds and ends that he so loved to make and collect. He like his sister loved to collect random things every time they went to the market place or stores in town. He seemed to love anything with the occult. His ceiling was covered in different dream catchers both handmade and purchased.
He was always plagued by nightmares and Morticia had suggested them after helping him sleep many of nights. Surprisingly only the ones he wove himself ever seemed to work but he couldn't help but buy a new one every time he saw one. His favourite by far was the one he had made at Eusebius's and Tatu's last shedding. The shed snake skin had made such a beautiful wrapping for the outer circle. Then Homer's web has made the centre. It was thanks to Morticia who knew how to preserve them that they made the finest dream catcher he had.
Smiling he dressed in a loose black shirt and jeans choosing to leave his shoes behind as the two snakes curled up his arms and around his chest and neck. Walking out his door and into the hall he was not surprised to find the entire family gathered in the dining room hovering over a large towering black iced cake. And a large banned hung from the ceiling as they all turned and smiled.
Morticia came forward hugging him tightly, "Happy birthday Midgard!"
