Striding quickly towards the stables, Arthur tried to look like he wasn't in a rush lest he call his father's attention onto himself.
Growling to himself as he heard Merlin calling his name, Arthur turned to him and said, “Merlin I thought you were supposed to be up cleaning my armor and weapons from training this morning.”
“You did and I will, but you look like you're in a rush. I thought you might need help.”
“No I don't. Now go and do your work. Aren't you supposed to be helping Gaius after you finish with my things?” He asked, continuing towards the stables.
“But...”
“No go.” Arthur said, looking towards the sky where he could see his lover's bird circling above keeping watch on him. “If you don't it'll be the stocks for a few hours after you're done with your chores.”
“Fine you royal prat.” Merlin muttered as he turned and headed back to the castle, ignoring Arthur's chuckling.
Rolling his eyes, Arthur continued to the stables and quickly had his horse ready for a ride. Climbing into the saddle, Arthur walked the horse until he was clear of the gates and the view of the guards then kicked the horse into a gallop.
It took him half the time it usually took to get to his lover's village. Abandoning his horse in front of his lover's house, Arthur burst through the door shouting, “I'm here! I'm here! I'm...too late. I'm so sorry Harrison.” He said, looking despondent when he caught sight of his dark haired, green eyed lover sitting up in his bed holding a cloth covered bundle in his arms.
“Don't be upset, Arthur. Come and meet your son.” Harry said, with a tired smile on his lips.
“A son?” Arthur asked with a smile as he moved towards the bed holding his world. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, Arthur carefully accepted the bundle into his arms. The baby was beautiful; his face was full and pink, his eyes were closed so he couldn't see his eyes, but his head was covered in dark hair with natural blond highlights. It was a perfect mixture of his and Harry's hair. His nose was tiny and looked as if it was going to be just like his own.
“What shall we call him?” Harry asked, leaning against Arthur's shoulder and stroking his fingers gently down the chubby cheek of their baby.
“Anir. Anir Pendragon.”
Smiling, Harry said, “Welcome to the world Anir Pendragon.”
