Reality.
Hermione swayed slightly attempting to overcome the vertigo that accompanies port key. She smiled in rememberance as 12 Grimauld Place began to materalize between 10 and 14. She climbed the steps and knocked."Harry!" She hollered, giddy with excitement at seeing her bestfriend after 2 long years. Hermione brushed her now controlled brown curly hair and rocked on the balls of her feet. Harry sure is taking his time to open the door Hermione mused. But as the door continued to stay shut Hermione frowned. He probably was on a mission. But surely there'd be someone still at home, right? Hermione sighed, she'd have to check if anyone was at the Burrow. Eventhough, she was ready to come back home, she was not sure if she was ready to face Ron anymore. After graduation, it seemed like a good idea, but what if Ron hated her? What if Molly and Ginny and the rest of the Weasley's despised her for leaving their son?
"Get it together Hermione. You've faced the darkest wizard and cruelest of people, but you can't face the people that have loved and cherished you? Don't be so stupid" Hermione mumbled to herself. She lifted her wand ready to apparate, closing her eyes she imagined the grassy fields and tall mismatched house standing at the centre of it. She felt the sensation of apparation but when she opened her eyes, she was still facing Harry's door. This wasn't right. Why had the ministry created an anti-apparation jinx around Harry's house? She slapped herself on the forehead. Ofcourse they'd put an anti-apparation jinx around Harry's home. He was the saviour of the Wizarding world and any escaped followers of Voldermort would surely want Harry's head on a platter. She'd have to walk a few metres away from the house, then.
She turned around and gasped with suprise. How had she not noticed the eerie silence and the open doors of homes and cars. Usually Hermione could hear the distance sounds of traffic in central London and the pungent aroma of exhaust fumes. There was even a pram discarded on the middle of the road. The scene resembled that of panic. Hermione begun to walk down the street searching for anything that might give her a clue on what had happened here.
"Hello!" Hermione shouted. "Is anybody here?" But her only reply was the rustling of leaves and the clanging of a coca cola can rolling down the street. Then she heard it. A bush nearby was rustling. Hermione pointed her wand out infront of her and crept towards the offending bush.
"Always catch your opponent by suprise!" She heard Mad Eye's voice in her mind. "Constant vigilance!"
"Reducto." Hermione whispered and watched as the bush began to grow smaller. The mystery behind the bush yelped and whimpered until Hermione realised that it was a dog. An injured dog by the looks of it. Hermione crouched down and begun stroking the dogs golden fur.
"How did this happen to you, boy?" She whispered affectionately. The texture of the dogs skin was now sticky and Hermione glanced down with a frown. Blood. And lots of it. She had removed her hand just in time by the looks of it because she almost came in contact with what seemed to be the dogs innards. Hermione looked in horror. Half of the dogs side was missing and Hermione had a perfect view of his stomach, intestine and lean muscle.
"Holy shit." Hermione whispered, this didn't look like a misfortunate accident. It looked like someone had taken a chunk out of this poor dog. The dog was suffering greatly and Hermione knew she had to end it once for all. Bracing herself she whispered the two words that she had vowed never to utter again.
"Avada Kedavra." The dog gave a sudden yelp and became still under Hermione's hand. She blinked. She couldn't cry, not right now. Not when something was obviously going on. She had to be in control to be able to figure out the mess she had landed herself in. After a quick scrougify to her hand, Hermione got up and walked further down the street.
Hermione stopped, taking a sharp intake of breath. At the end of what was another street she could see a person shuffling their feet. They looked lost Hermione mused, but maybe they could help her. Hermione took of at a run.
"Hey!" She shouted. "Could you help me please!?" Hermione's run began to slow down as she came closer to the man. Yes, he was a man, or something else in a man's body. The man stopped his shuffling and turned slowly towards Hermione.
"Oh fuck, that's not a person." Hermione thought to herself. His eyes were vacant, and there was a lot of blood around what was left of his decaying jaw. The thing growled at her and begun to walk as fast as he could towards her. Now that she was closer, Hermione could see the tattered clothes and the a hole in his neck. Hermione had seen her fair share of dead bodies and this definitely resembled one. The grey taut skin and the horrid smell. Gulping, Hermione spun around and took of at a sprint.
"What the fuck was that thing?! It was like a blooming zombie! But they don't exist. Well it looks like they do now! How do you kill a zombie, think Hermione, think" Hermione's brain was working overtime as she ran from whatever it was. She was so busy in her rambling she had not noticed that she was now closer to central London. Hermione had seen her fair share of zombie apocolyptic movies and would have realised the closer she got to civilisation, the more of the undead there would be. Skidding to a halt, Hermione gained her bearing. She could now hear a cascade of groaning and guttaral growls and taking a quick glance around she knew. She was futher into central London and her fast movement must have attracted others. Shit had just hit in the fan. Hermione began to run again taking left and right turns to try to shake off the horde behind her but to no avail. Her goal was to get futher away from civilisation so she would not attract more. Getting a sudden idea, Hermione spun around, pointing her wand.
"Stupefy!" the jet of red light whizzed towards one of the zombies but instead of knocking it even slightly back, the spell just vanished as it came in contact. Spell after spell Hermione tried but nothing happened. So magic did not work on these things, Hermione noted bitterley. Then a thought that resembled a beacon of light; magic couldnt work on them but sure as hell could work on her. Working fast Hermione put an illusion charm on herself, cringing as the sensation of an egg running down her scalp. Once she was sure she couldnt be detected, she slipped into a dark alleyway praying these "zombies" were as stupid as muggles portrayed them to be.
She watched with baited breath as endless rows of the undead shuffled past her, the sound a cacaphony of groans. Once the last of the horde had passed Hermione relaxed. She closed her eyes in relief. She had survived what ever the fuck that was and hopefully she wouldn't have to come across a situation like that again. It all made sense now. The postal situation, everything. Before Hermione could analyse the situation properly she heard the now familiar sound of the undead. Turning quietly she saw a female, wearing a tattered dress, ripping the flesh out of a rat. This one had her eye missing and Hermione could see a considerable amount of muscle on her left arm. Hermione stood still, hoping that the zombie didn't notice her. She still had not figured out how to kill this thing and the noise would surely attract other.
Hermione hadn't been hoping long when a figure in black crept behind the zombie, aiming what seemed to be a crossbow at the back of the zombie's head. A sickening crunch of the arrow crushing the skull with it's momentum made Hermione wince. As the undead, now officially dead slumped over, the figure spun around to head back into the shadows. Hermione's heart pace quickened. She couldn't let whoever this was leave. He obviously knew something. Disillusioning herself, Hermione ran after the figure.
"Wait!" She whispered as loud as she dared. The figure stopped dead in his tracks, but before Hermione could even breathe a sigh of utter relief, the figures scruched hand swung towards her knocking poor Hermione unconscious.
Authors note:What did you think of that.
Weren't expecting a zombie apocolypse (hopefully)
I don't even care about reviews Im just so happy that people find my story interesting enough to take a gander at.
Did I sate your curiousity?
This compensates for the pathetic excuse of a chapter I 1 hopefully, I don't have a beta reader but I try to make my story as grammatically correct as possible, I have anuereysms whenever I find a spelling mitake after it's been published.
I am a huge Dramione fan having read probably several hundred fanfictions.
No not exaggerating, I've read all the Dramione fanfiction on fanfiction.net,
I also read on this and another website for more Draco goodness.
Back to the point I've always seen the cliche plots so I thought
mine would be different. If you've not seen The Walking Dead then you
really should. Anywho let me know what you think and continue reading.
