Chapter 2: Blank Space

Harry brought Hermione a cup of tea. When they got back from interviewing the group Hermione was pale and silent. She didn't know what to think. She hasn't said a word in a week and Harry told her supervisor that she had a really bad flu bug. She didn't tell anybody what she and Riley had talked about because she didn't know how to explain it.

"Who are you?" Riley asked pulling away further from Hermione. Hermione's tears couldn't stop flowing. She shook her head as Riley gave her a tissue. "I'm sorry it's just you remind me of someone," Hermione said taking the tissue and dabbing her eyes. Riley nodded, "Well I'm sorry for your loss. If there's anything I can do just let me know," she then handed her a piece of paper. "Here's my personal phone number. No one knows I have it no even the band or my fiancee." At the mention of Danielle the tears began to flow again. Riley didn't say anything she just put her arms around this young woman and caught her breath. For moment this felt right. She didn't have this feeling Danielle. Hermione finally pulled away, "Thank you for your kindness and it was nice meeting you Riley," and with that she left quickly. Riley stared after her wanting to know who she was and why did she feel as if she met her before.
"Hermione you need to eat," Harry said putting down a plate of eggs and toast. She looked at him and nodded and picked up a fork and began to slowly eat. He looked at his watch, "Hey look I have to go to work but I'll be back as soon as I can." He kissed her forehead. A few minutes later he left the apartment. Hermione curled up on the couch and sighed. She knew Riley felt what she was feeling but there was something missing in Riley's eyes. The spark was gone and her eyes were darker than usual. She couldn't wrap her head around it but something wasn't right.
She was wrapped up in her own mind that she didn't see some one standing there. When she looked up she let out a small scream and backed up into the couch.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," he said in a soft voice. She got a good look at him and her eyes widened. "Kelsey?" She asked and he nodded, "Hey Hermione," he said with a smile. She threw her arms around him and he wrapped his around hers. They stayed like that for a few moments before they pulled away. She finally got a good look at him and he was well put together. Dark blue jeans, and a red button down short sleeve shirt with a celtic cross as a necklace.
"You remember me?" she asked and he nodded, "I remember everything," he whispered. "What happened?" she asked. Kelsey sighed and sat back and began to tell her the story. He told them how five years ago they were taken from the party. How some how Danielle came back to life and then it was a blank space for a while. Then they became really famous, Riley and Danielle were an item as if they were never apart. For some reason their time at Hogwarts was washed away. Also that Riley has a great relationship with her dad. She doesn't talk to her mom or siblings. As far as Riley knows she's an only child.
He finally told her that he started to remember things. Jessie, Hogwarts, her, Harry, and everyone else. Everything came back to him when he saw her and Neville at the concert back stage. He didn't want to say anything he had to keep it to himself. "So then I found out through word of mouth where you worked and then I came here." Hermione stood up and put her hand over her mouth. "So the others have no idea they were at Hogwarts with us?" Kelsey shook his head.
"I mean there was always something missing. I couldn't put it together until I saw you. Then when I heard Ron's voice on the radio...."
Hermione's eyes went wide, "You knew it was him?!" He nodded slowly, "I wanted to say something but that would've given me away."
Hermione couldn't believe this. Kelsey was here telling her what's happened and now she had a chance to get Riley back. Kelsey looked at his watch then back at Hermione, "Look I have to go. I'm going to do my best to get you and Riley back together I promise." He hugged her once more and then flooed away leaving Hermione to let everything sink in.

Riley was in the kitchen trying to find something to eat. She kept checking her phone hoping that Hermione would some how get a hold of her. For some reason when she didn't get anything she felt a pang of disappointment. She didn't know why. All she kept thinking about was her eyes and how she felt in her arms. She had to fight back the urge to kiss her. When she was holding her, she could feel her heart beating through her chest. Praying that Hermione didn't hear or feel it.
When she finally settled on making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich Kelsey walked in. "Hey bud," he said as he sat down on the stool by the kitchen island. Riley looked up and nodded, "Hey," Kelsey looked at her. "You alright?" Riley just nodded and put everything away then took a bite of her sandwich. She left the kitchen with her best friend right behind her. She sat down on the couch in the den and grabbed her Playstation controller and turned on the TV along with it. Kelsey knew not to push the issue so he sat down in the recliner and didn't speak.
After an hour or so Riley's phone went off and she paused her game and checked it. She shot up and left the apartment in a hurry. She couldn't help but feel excited for some reason. She got into the elevator and pushed the button for the ground floor. She paced the floor waiting for the elevator to stop. Once that door opened she looked up and Hermione was standing right there. Again her heart skipped a beat as she walked towards her. She looked absolutely beautiful in a pair of jeans, sneakers and a pink zipped up hoodie. Her hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail and there was just a hint of make up. Riley had to catch her breath as she came closer.
Hermione tried with all her might not to rush to Riley. She looked the same as ever with blue jeans, black and white Converses, and a black button down long sleeve shirt. There were signs of new tattoos but other than that she still looked like her Riley. All she wanted to do was tell her how much she loves her and that there wasn't a day she didn't miss her. She just wanted to hold her close and never let go again.
Now here they were standing face to face no words passed between them. As if they didn't need to speak. They just stared at each other waiting. To see if this was just a dream. Too scared to touch each other for fear they might disappear. Slowly they began to walk together away from the prying eyes. When Riley saw the cameras he stopped Hermione, "Meet me out back in five minutes," she said and nodded toward the staircase and Hermione just nodded and walked in that direction. Riley put on her sunglasses and walked out through the glass doors. She was blinded by flashes and couldn't help but smile. She answered some questions, signed some autographs. After a few minutes she finally said her byes and walked down the sidewalk. She turned back to make sure on one was looking. She took off her sunglasses and saw Hermione standing by the ally way with a smile, "Come on I know a great cafe," she said. Riley just nodded and followed.

Kelsey smiled to himself when he saw Riley come in with a big smile on her face. He didn't want to say anything he just waited for his best friend to spill her beans. When she looked up she just nodded towards the balcony and he nodded. He pulled out his pack of cigarettes and gave her one. Once they were both lit he looked at her and she continued to smile.
"Okay now you have to tell me," he said with a laugh. Riley looked at him and her smile just grew.

Harry came one and found Hermione sitting on the couch with case files open and with a smile on her face. He was glad to see her doing better but he knew that smile. "Hermione?" he asked and she looked up. He couldn't help but notice the sparkle in her eye and the bright smile she had. "Okay some one had a good day. I'll grab the wine." Hermione just laughed. Today was the best day of her life and hopefully for Riley as well. Harry came back with a bottle of red wine and two wine glasses. "Okay Granger spill."

At this moment the two were explaining the exact same thing to their best friends. How they felt happy, excited, and how they laughed, talked and just felt amazing. But on one side there was still that blank space. Riley was caught between Danielle and Hermione. She didn't know what to do. She loves Danielle with all her heart but then Hermione turns up and all of sudden things start to change. This was going to be hard because she didn't want to hurt any one. Kelsey knew that he had to tell his friends what happened and that everything they knew the last five years has been a lie. Some greater force was a work here and he didn't like it. He needed his old friends back again to help him. He wasn't going to his friends live this lie and he would protect them at all cost. It would just be a matter of time before things come into light.
