"Are you sure you don't want to report this to the ministry Lily? I'm only trying to look out for you love. I don't want you to be afraid, I want you to have closure." James tried everyday for the last few weeks.
He had given her a few day reprise after finding out she was pregnant. She didn't understand that it hurt him as well. He had to see the women he loved become a shadow of her former self. Top all that off with another mans baby inside of her. All the years he spent lusting after her beauty and eventually falling in love with her heart and her brain... This is how he got her. Damaged and pregnant.
"James, I just can't... I can't tell anyone what happened. It's too shameful no one will understand that I can't have an abortion," Lily was cut off at the word abortion.
"I don't know what the hell an abortion is but I know that everyone who knows you will understand. Just tell me who did this, give me a description please Lily!"
"No! I'm already having a child, I didn't make the choice to make this baby but I will not have my child be aware that he is the product of a rape. James please support me on this. I understand if you don't want to be with me like you used to but please. Help me! Let me stay in one of the many Potter manors. I won't be a bother I just can't face my friends and family right now. I can't tell them what happened to me. Ever! Do you understand?" Lily spat out defiantly.
"Okay, I won't ask again. I'm sorry Lily. I can't let you stay in a manor alone but there's something I can do. You know I've been in love with you since second year. I'm willing to make you my wife, and claim father ship to your child. I know you don't love me.." This time Lily cut him off,
"James I do love you, I have loved you... It's just Sev.."
"Yeah, yeah, he's your childhood sweetheart or whatever...slimy git..." James' whole attitude changed at mention of Severus Snape's name.
"No James, you don't understand. I was his... He's been in love with me and I care for him too much to hurt him by admitting my love for you... He's not a bad person James, just misunderstood.." Lily finished weakly
The gears were spinning behind James' eyes, he seemed to be having an internal battle after a few seconds of this he smiled,
"Lily! Did you just say you loved me? " James asked her, looking at her with the most innocent puppy dog eyes,
"Yes! 5 minutes ago, all you heard was Sev's name. I want to marry you James, I already wanted to marry you. I can't do that now. I appreciate all that you have done for me in the last few weeks but you don't need this to be your burden. Your life could be better than that, then this. " she trailed off touching her lower stomach.
They shared a few moments of silence together. Each of them consumed in their own thoughts. Lily was so confused. She felt so much love for the tiny life form growing quickly inside of her. She did love James, but Severus was important to her as well and he needed somebody to keep him from losing his soul to evil. She had to tell him what his "lord" had done. Sev would never be okay with that sort of animal behavior.
"Lily.." James started interrupting her train of thought,
" My plan after school was to join the order and help fight this war. My other plan was to do whatever it took to have you for my wife. I'm sorry this happened to you, but it doesn't change my plan. I want you for my wife and I want to be a part of the order. No one has to know the baby isn't mine, as far as I'm concerned it will be. It's a part of you Lily and I love him or her already. Please..." He paused and knelt down in front her.
"Lily Evans, I promise to always protect you and keep your secrets. Will you marry me?"
Lily stared into his eyes with disbelief. He had a ring in his hand! He was already going to ask her, and now even knowing most of what had happened to her he still wanted to marry her. He was so sweet, so innocent and thoughtful. She couldn't refuse his puppy dog eyes.
"Yes, I will! Oh James, I love you! I couldn't ask for a better man to be my husband." Lily cried throwing herself into his arms.
After she cried for a bit in his arms she allowed him to place his ring onto her trembling finger. They sat there on the floor and held each other for some time. When they arose it seemed an unspoken agreement that they would never bring up what had really happened that December evening.

Lily arrived in Spinners End two days before Valentines Day. She was in a horrible mood, maybe it was the hormones or maybe it was the fact her supposed best friend made her wait over a week to see him. Whatever it was she forgot to be mad when he answered his door and treated her to a very rare smile. She hugged him tightly, suddenly overcome by how much she had missed him.
"Come on in Lils. I have to admit, I miss seeing you at school everyday. Would you care for a cup of tea? I think I have some cookies... Have a bit of Ogdens Whiskey too if you would care for something a bit stronger." Severus led her into his home.
"I can make my own tea Sev. No alcohol for me..." She trailed off marching herself into his kitchen.
Lighting the stove with her wand she put his old black teapot atop the flame. When she turned to shuffle through his cabinets for tea and cookies she bumped Into him holding the desired objects out to her. She prepared their cups in silence. How did she even begin to tell him what she came to tell him.
" Is that an engagement ring?" Severus asked,
Crossing the kitchen in two strides he grabbed her hand and examined the stone placed upon her finger.
"I heard rumors. I never thought they could possibly be true! You're engaged to that pompous big headed git! And I'm here believing your far too clever to fall for any of his tactics... I'm disappointed Lily!"
Reproachfully Lily looked down at her hand, Severus had failed to release it through his short but angry tirade. His robes had fallin down and first she noticed that his flesh looked very inflamed. Using the hand he already held she grasped tightly to his hand. She roughly twisted his arm and pulled his sleeve all the way up. He had done it. Taken that bastards mark, she saw red.
" YOU TOOK HIS FUCKING MARK! You're a death eater now are you! Severus Snape, you dared to say you're disappointed in me! Look what you've done! Look what you've fucking done!" Lily screamed in his face.
Her rage filling her completely she began to strike him. Hitting him anywhere she could reach before he pulled his wand and performed the bodybind curse. Now completely frozen only her eyes expressed her anger.
"Please calm down Lily... I don't want to use magic against you... I'm sorry, it just happened last night. He inspired me. Leave James. Lils, I promise I'll protect you. You will never have to fear anything. We will rise to power Lily, just imagine it! The whole country is being controlled by our ministry. We can't ignore it! The Dark Lord will free us all, just come with me Lily. You'll understand everything if you'd give him a chance!"
He removed the charm from her and she stood,
" I'm pregnant Sev. I was going to ask you to be his godfather but on second thought you'll be much too busy trying to take over the ministry or whatever nonsense. I'm going to go... I can't look at you right now." Lily said coldly.
Severus Snape watched her leave without saying a word. They had fought over the years but no matter what he said or did she had never spoken in that tone to him. In fact he had never heard her sound so uncaring in his life. What had Potter done to her? He thought to himself as he watched the only women he ever cared for disappear.

AUTHORS NOTE: This is the last chapter with Lily and James. Harry is the main character this is just to set up some of the plot and give the readers some background. From here on it goes canon until Harry arrives at Hogwarts at age 11 new to the wizarding world.
